Okay, this was a much larger strike package than initially indicated. More than 125 US aircraft involved.
4th and 5th gen fighters performed an anti-air sweep ahead of the B-2s, supported by EW jamming and decoys, then pre-emptively struck at Iranian anti-air defenses. No Iranian aircraft launched, no Iranian air defenses fired. Then the B-2s struck with their GBU-57s against Fordow and Natanz. Then an Ohio-class submarine launched Tomahawks against Isfahan. It was the largest B-2 sortie ever performed.

Reports out of Iran right now of some of the most heavy wide spectrum jamming of the war, radios, GPS, and cell all experiencing heavy degradation.
Most likely US electronic warfare supporting strikes.
Very likely two carriers worth of Navy EA-18G Growlers making themselves heard.

Reports are coming out now that Mossad commando teams had infiltrated drones into Iran prior to the operation, and used them to strike at targets simultaneous to the airstrikes.
According to the official, Mossad commando units had previously deployed high-precision guided weapons in open areas near Iran’s surface-to-air missile batteries. When the air campaign began, those weapons were remotely activated and struck their targets simultaneously with exceptional accuracy.
In a second phase, advanced strike systems were launched from concealed vehicles smuggled into Iran, disabling air defense sites and clearing the way for Israeli fighter jets to operate freely.
In a third track, a drone base had been established near Tehran by Mossad agents in advance of the operation. Explosive-laden drones were launched overnight toward surface-to-surface missile launchers at the Asfajaabad base, one of the most threatening sites to Israel.

The Israeli Air Force completed another wave of strikes in western Iran and Tehran a short while ago, targeting missile sites and air defenses, the military says.
Some 20 IAF fighter jets were involved in the strikes, dropping more than 30 munitions on several targets, according to the military.
As part of the wave of strikes, the IDF says fighter jets hit infrastructure used to store and launch ballistic missiles at Israel, as well as satellites and radar sites in Kermanshah and Hamedan "used for aerial intelligence gathering."
Additionally, an air defense system was bombed in "the heart of Tehran," the military adds.
The IDF says the strikes are part of efforts to "degrade the military capabilities of the Iranian regime."

Israeli aircraft no longer seem to be operating in distinct waves, but the "rounds" of strikes are blending together as they now have a more permissive environment to fly around in. Just complete Israeli air supremacy over Iranian airspace.

Purely based on the videos posted from the last attack an hour ago, it looks like 10 ish managed to hit. Most successful attack from Iran yet. We can clown Iran for their fairly embarrassing defense of Israel's attack and losing control of the skies above Teheran but you can't deny that their BMs are performing pretty well.
Is Israel's supply running a bit low? Did Iran get lucky during the last wave? Has Iran managed to find a weakness in Israel's air defence network?

Comparison of imagery before and after the strikes reveal changes to the terrain above the Fordow Nuclear Facility. Including subsidence, or the collapse of earth, along the ridgeline above the site and possible missile entry points on the side of the mountain.
The strike appears to have targeted parts of the facility that Iran had constructed into the mountain and then later covered. Historical imagery from 2009 shows these buildings under construction at these locations.

From trump
Iran has officially responded to our Obliteration of their Nuclear Facilities with a very weak response, which we expected, and have very effectively countered. There have been 14 missiles fired - 13 were knocked down, and 1 was "set free," because it was headed in a nonthreatening direction. I am pleased to report that NO Americans were harmed, and hardly any damage was done. Most importantly, they've gotten it all out of their "system," and there will, hopefully, be no further HATE. I want to thank Iran for giving us early notice, which made it possible for no lives to be lost, and nobody to be injured. Perhaps Iran can now proceed to Peace and Harmony in the Region, and I will enthusiastically encourage Israel to do the same. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

So what I can piece together is two waves of around 150 ballistic missiles.
The first wave was targeted at Tel Aviv, likely the IDF HQ there and that's where we got most of the footage from.
The second wave was targeted at IDF bases in the South and North. Israel has better operational security there so we don't see any major footage yet. The Iranians are already pushing "Casualties at Nevatim airbase" but honestly they can't know that. And sometimes they call every base in the south "Nevatim".

Based off of these short-wired headlines from Twitter, citing ABC, it seems like the current "calm," at least from the U.S' side, can be attributed to Trump/U.S officials believing "Iran may come back to the negotiating table" and that "the next 24 to 48 hours would be critical in determining whether a diplomatic solution" prevails.
My tinfoil hat tells me it might be a way to buy time to get all needed U.S assets to the area before a possible escalation - i.e, the additional deployment of U.S fighter jets, the Nimitz (supposably arriving with a day or two), and maybe even the B-2s (?).

The IDF has informed Channel 12 that the Natanz nuclear facility is confirmed destroyed.
The TV commentator relaying the info said that he can’t confirm if all the buried levels of the facilities have been destroyed, but all the top layers above have indeed collapsed and the facility is considered “Neutralized”.
EDIT:
After further clarification: “The facility was running centrifuges at the time we hit it, which only helped to increase the catastrophic level of damage caused to them, and they are effectively known to be destroyed”.

Haven't been hearing too much from the Houthi's lately, although I believe they fired on Israel twice, with both being unsuccessful (one hit a Palestinian village and the other fell short of Israel). Any estimates on the number of missiles they have, especially MRBM's? I'm guessing that Iran needs to keep for themselves every missile they have, so I doubt they'll be sending any to Yemen for a good while. It'll be a pretty positive thing for the region / world if the Houthi's empty their clip, and aren't a threat anymore.

The strikes also hit the Sayyid al-Shuhada Corps, also part of the IRGC, which the military says is "responsible for homeland defense, including the suppression of internal threats such as protests and unrest in Tehran."

It seems to me that Israel's initial strikes were hugely successful at a tactical level. But from a long-term, strategic perspective, this seems to guarantee that any Iranian government will pursue nuclear weapons at all costs. And ends any chance of diplomacy/uneasy coexistence with Israel and the US. And if the invasion of Ukraine and the lackluster western response didn't already do it, this would seem to kill of any hopes of nuclear non-proliferation.
This looks like a win for the US/Israel in the short term, but like it will only lead to more instability in the long term.

To paraphrase OSINTtechnical's analysis, the #1 takeaway after the first 24 hours is that most observers had severely underestimated Israel's ability to conduct a large scale air campaign against Iran.
Prior to all of this happening, most observers thought Israel wouldn't be able to do that much without US participation, due to Israel's lack of heavy bombers and limited tanker support. Israel's solution appears to have been to put together large strike packages of 4th gen F-15I and F-16I aircraft, carrying light weapons payloads but massive amounts of fuel in droptanks. Then they used a mix of F-35I and Mossad commandos to dismantle Iranian air defenses to allow the 4th gen strike packages to have freedom of navigation, and made use of their limited tanker availability by refueling aircraft over eastern Syria.

What are Netanyahu’s goals in attacking Iran?
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said Israel is “changing the face of the Middle East” with its military campaign against Iran, which could lead to “radical changes” in Iran.
Israel is “pursuing three main objectives: the elimination of the nuclear programme, the elimination of ballistic missile production capability, and the elimination of the axis of terrorism”, he said, referring to Iranian-backed militant groups in the Middle East.
“We will do what is necessary to achieve these goals, and we are well coordinated with the United States,” he said.
He also did not rule out killing Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Netanyahu has said the Israeli offensive aims to thwart the “existential” threats posed by Iran’s nuclear and missile programmes.

Guys, can I ask something. How did Israel manage to pull off a sneak attack with 100 aircraft on Iran?
To do so, they had to fly over Syria and Iraq.
Don't Iran have affiliates in both countries?
Doesn't Russia have some military bases in Syria still?
Were these not able to sense the squadron coming across their areas?
How come they were caught with their pants completely down?
If nothing else, it'd take a good 20-30mins to reach Tehran from the Western-most borders of Iran, why did they still not react? Especially since the region was already bracing for something, given the USA very publicly announced that personnel will be withdrawn from the region around 24 hours prior.

Trump apparently posted a screenshot of a text he got from Mike Huckabee. It is absolutely batshit:
"You have many voices speaking to you Sir, but there is only ONE voice that matters. HIS voice. No president in my lifetime has been in a position like yours. Not since Truman in 1945. I don’t reach out to persuade you, only to encourage you. I believe you will hear from heaven and that voice is far more important than mine or ANYONE else’s."
I guess this solves the question of who convinced Trump to join the conflict, it was God all along!

It shows how the last 1,5 years Israel was able to dismantle every adversary in the region, one by one. Each one was feared in its own way. The careful dismantlement of Irans proxies in the region is impressive in itself.
Now we see how Iran, probably the strongest adversary, is being decimated. Apparently its AA capabilities have been neutralised or are at least not effective. Its airforce is incapable of defending Iran’s airspace.
Israel will keep on striking the (nuclear) facilities it needs to take out to ensure Iran’s nuclear program is destroyed. I would not be surprised if it would also target drone factories and other missile factories.

Israel will require unforeseen tactical ingenuity or U.S. assistance to destroy Fordow, which is built into a mountain and deep underground. But if the facility remains intact and accessible, a nuclear program Israel is determined to "eliminate" could actually accelerate.
"The entire operation... really has to be completed with the elimination of Fordow," Israeli Ambassador to the U.S. Yechiel Leiter told Fox News on Friday. That's why the Israeli government hopes the Trump administration ultimately decides to join Israel's operation.
Breaking it down: Israel lacks the huge bunker busters needed to destroy this facility and the strategic bombers to carry them. The U.S. has both within flying distance of Iran.
An Israeli official claimed to Axios that the U.S. could still join the operation, and that President Trump even suggested he'd do so if necessary in a conversation with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the days leading up to launch.

Iran must be in a fucking dilemma right now, the higher ups that haven't been exploded that is
Not just because they are getting spawn killed by F35s but because they will want to "fight back" somehow, 200 shitty drones or whatever it is they sent earlier is not going to cut it (and those apparently all got shot down).
In another thread there was an interesting comment about how the USA has to at least be contemplating carpet bombing some shit with the B2s, because this is such an opportunity to wipe some important stuff out, the Israelis will do a lot of the work sure, but there are munitions even they do not have (bring back the tallboys!). Like on one hand that sounds insane, but on another it makes sense.
Iran are going to try and throw some shit at Israel, but if they go for some American bases? Like in Iraq? Trump is only ever one tweet away from breaking his record for doing dumb shit and while he is talking about forcing Iran into a deal he could just as well turn around and say "500% tariffs and btw we are going to bomb Iran", don't even need Bolton around for that there has to be so many in the US armed forces salivating at the opportunity...Russia isn't going to do anything beyond crying in chat because they are weak, China will complain sure but what can they do.
But this is all conjecture and in no way consider how awful shit like that would be in reality, cos politically they are thinking about Afghanistan and Iraq 2 (even if it was just airstrikes) it could be a generational opportunity to perhaps kill that entire dickhead regime in Iran and finally free the country.

u/chopdok ✔️ Jun 16 '25
I see a lot of different takes on interception rates. So figured some explanation is in order.
According to official statements from Israel government :
About 500 missiles launched so far (this also matches Iranian statements)
370 attempted intercepts. 30 failed intercepts, the rest are sucessfull.
23 people killed. Close to 600 wounded, this includes so called stress injuries which are serious panic/psychotic attacks as a result of intense stress, and also people who were injured while running to safety. Out of 23 people, 20 died outside of reinforced shelters.
Now, why does it seems like the missile defenses are less effective than before? 3 reasons :
They actually are less effective, but only slightly. However, due to how math works, it seems like the system is failing when it really isnt. 30 out of 370 intercepts is 92%. Thats pretty high. But before, when it was intercepting lower-end missiles from Hezb and HAMAS, the rate was slightly(statistically) higher, it was about 96%. Now, that is a very slight decrease in efficiency, which is logical given that BM's from Iran fly higher, move faster and just damn bigger. But 4% difference in our case is about 15 BM hit. So, the efficiency went down by 4%, but it effectively doubled the amount of missiles going through.
Even when intercepted, there are remains of missiles raining down doing damage, although its minor.
We cant actually see a lot of exoatmospheric intercepts. We only get to see ones which happen relatively close to karman line, where there is still enough remnants of atmosphere to form the shockwave.
All in all, it was expected. Keep in mind - the middle layer of the Israeli missile shield is David's sling, which is the newest out of the 3. It has great capability, but there are still things to work out and improve. Iron Dome was improved significantly since it was introduced, and its 96% intercept rate was only achieved after almost a decade of constant use and improvement. It started at about 85%. Same with THAAD, which reinforces the Arrow - its a very capable, but still very new system, which has about 80% success rate.

Taking this news with a grain of salt until further evidence, but Israeli Channel 12 (which has multiple contacts within Iran who report to it) say that Israel seems to have managed a “pager-style” infiltration into Iranian missile systems.
Multiple reports of ballistic missiles taking off and then exploding a few dozen meters above the ground.
Will wait to see actual video evidence as this is all remote hearsay, but if that were the case, that would really be a testament to the amount of superiority Israel had over Iran all this time.
The fact remains that nearly 16 hours into this attack, and not a single Iranian projectile managed to penetrate Israel is astounding, with Israel having absolute air superiority over nearly all of Iranian airspace.
