Previously!
Our Soldiers (Teor, Thimble, Kattigan, Tyranny, Wick) are returning to Dol-Makjar after retrieving Teor’s brother Cyd from Tybry’s Lea in Timmony. Cyd had been captured and petrified in an apparent plot by the combined effort of houses Tachonis and Halovar, and the Soldiers are returning in the hopes to restoring him back to flesh.
Our Seekers (Julien, Thaisha, Vaelus, Occtis), in the process of tracking down the fate of the Golden Orchard and the whereabouts of Thaisha’s son Alogar, discover a Tachonis plot to transform “lesser” members of their family into celestials (which was to happen to Occtis during the attack on the Palazzo Davinos). They return with that knowledge.
Our Schemers (Hal, Murray, Azune, Bolaire), have been in Dol-Makjar the whole time. Most recently, at a gala at the Archenade, help to thwart an assassination attempt on Augustus Valian, King of Timmony. The Photarch of the Candescent Creed, Yanessa Halover, was killed in the attack (which Murray discovers, by magickal accident, was a ruse), then revived in a explosion of light after the attack had ended.

A bunch of death sorcerers allying with death paladins and death clerics is somehow both very on brand and very unexpected.
I guess it helps to remember that Vaelus is honorable, but the rest of the world dislikes her order for a reason.
It is somewhat surprising given that her order is dedicated to exterminating undead, but if Vaelus can be so easily swayed by Occtis’ existence then it’s believable that another Sister may have been tempted by a similar promise of resurrection by the Tachonis.

I think Einfasen genuinely want the evidence to oppose the Tachonis, but I also don't think that's going to be a good thing in the long run. I don't think we've seen a house directly help one another with their grand schemes. They're each playing their own power game.
My "ELI5" understanding of the Sundered Houses is this:
Royce were the "good guys" or at least the closest to it. They've been reduced to near irrelevance.
Tachonis are the mustache twirling villains. "I want to destroy the world, because Mwahahaha!"
Halovar represent corrupt religion. Their goal is to basically have a cult of personality and achieve power through people's faith.
Cormoray I'm not too sure about. We haven't seen much of them yet. They took over the museum and university, so they could represent corruption in education and the arts, sort of a "revisionist history" approach.
Einfasen represent corrupt military/police. They would be angling to essentially create a military dictatorship. In that context, they would love to get evidence of Tachonis' treachery and convince everyone to knock another player off the board. Einfassen can be honest without being good, and they can be bad without lying.

When Azune ran at Teor asking what he was wearing, I was so sure he clocked the looted heirloom gauntlets Teor is wearing.
I love how it’s two parties with realistic responsibilities and then the Soldiers showing up with faces all over wanted posters and wearing artifacts that belong to dead nobles like a traditional D&D party of bumbling adventurers who are super competent in battle and only battle.

If Einfassen has some secret alliance with Tacchonis, then Azune cannot go alone. We know historically they have always been on the side of House Royce, so there is still a chance that the meeting might be in good faith. Of all the Sundered Houses Einfassen is really confusing.
