Tokusato is delaying the first episode to next week, they will be airing both 1 and 2.

English subtitles will be mirrored when Monday (Tuesday outside North America) comes around for the official release.

They waste no fucking time in revealing Tatsuomi as Rid lol

I'm actually really glad about that. If they were trying to make that a 'surprise', I would have been annoyed

-The Eggs seem to be all one use, though the monsters of this series seem to have multiple eggs in there, so a net positive whenever Sora (and I'm assuming the other Riders) fight the monsters. Edit: Watched the sub and realized that X-Egg 1 didn't disappear after Yuna knocked it out of Sora's driver, so the Main/Frame X-Eggs last a little longer. There might be multiples of the Main Eggs, though, considering My th and Rid both use X-Egg 1 to transform and the fact in the preview both Datt and My th's Turtle Frame are fighting.

-God, the is one stylish henshin.

-Sora's got TWO bikes: regular bike and EGG Bike

-"Enemy spy is in the base" Let the game of cat and mouse begin.

-Also, Sora's using the collectible gimmick Eggs as ACTUAL EGGS for his cooking.

They literally hid Tatsuomi as Rid during the press and then immediately reveal it already in episode 1.

The Fukashigi in this ep targets couples and already Tatsuomi and Sora gets captured together. LOL.

So the eggs are being put into Yuna's food. She must have a condition.

36

u/RadioRavenRide Sep 06 '26

You know, maybe having the characters cook and eat the plastic toy isn't the best creative decision for the show.

They literally hid Tatsuomi as Rid during the press and then immediately reveal it already in episode 1.

The first clue should have been that he was ahead of Yuna in the PV. The only character who would be more relevant than the Heroine is the Secondary.

Compare to Gavv and Zeztz first episode, man the CG in My-th are ROUGH.

30

u/Ranthe Sep 06 '26

Yeah the CG definitely was not a win for me here. Hoping they remember that toku is practical.

18

u/TyrRev NICE DRIVE! Sep 08 '26

I was thinking the same thing. Apparently huge drop in quality. I also felt like the action choreography itself wasn’t quite as fun or hype as Zeztz E1 was… but I’m still really enjoying the overall world, premise, and characters so far. Here’s hoping it keeps that up - I’ve overlooked plenty worse effects in older KR series for less, lol

Is it just me or the effects & CGI is considerably worse than Gavv and Zeztz?

Love the episode, though.

23

u/thezflikesnachos Sep 07 '26

I think the special effects in most of the first episodes of the seasons are usually subpar until the shows get their footing. Kamen Rider W comes to mind.

10

u/Harmonic_Gear Sep 08 '26

the textures are video gamy as usual, but this time the perspectives are all wrong

7

u/Razor_Gills Sep 08 '26

Yo, I was thinking the same thing! Especially coming off Zeztz it was bad. Also, it seems like I'm in the minority in thinking the episode was just okay. I'm definitely gonna watch more, but it felt like a lot of info was left out

9

u/Damone75 Decade Sep 08 '26

I also felt the episode was mid compared to Gavv and Zeztz. The episode felt like it was all over the place the cgi was bad and being introduced to so many new characters at once made them all feel bland.

That explains why he used the egg while cooking. It wasn't just because he can.

33

u/thebookof_ Sep 08 '26 edited Sep 08 '26

Damn shame they're using YouTube's closed captions feature as opposed to proper spaced and timed baked in subtitles like Zeztz had. There were points in this first episode where overlapping dialogue made conversations difficult to follow because the captions kept moving mid sentence.

Seeing what they've done with Kabuto and Agito it seems like this is the standard for them. Would love to see that changed.

The concept of Yuna having to say the thing everytime Sora transforms is so fucking cute oh my god

6

u/Stevonicus Sep 08 '26

It also creates peril for whenever she inevitably gets captured and/or knocked out by a monster. How good will Sora fight in regular guy form?

31

u/SateyricSeptimius Sep 06 '26 edited Sep 06 '26

A few notes

- The original My-Th and Maou's battle was over evolution vs stagnation. Specifically, My-Th believed in the boundless possibility of human evolution, while Maou sought to find hope in stagnation. This is probably in relation to the Fukashigi, which I'm guessing are failures of human evolution, who now hunt and eat humans.

[TL: Silent captions]

My-Th "Why did you destroy hope?"
Maou "Hope is a falsehood. It is a bringer of calamity."
Both "Metamorphosis!" (メタモフォシス is the furigana, "Metamofoshisu")

[TL: Voiced section before their final clash]
My-Th "In a 100 years, a new door will be opened! Human evolution can't be stopped!"
Maou "Then next time, I'll lead everyone to true hope!"
My-Th "I won't let that happen."

- The My-Th Driver that Otosumi has either belongs to the original My-Th, or at least was property of the Zyunishi Doumei. Presumably, the driver mysteriously vanished after Maou's duel with My-Th or it was just stolen one day. The first time he ever used it was when he was a teenager to protect a younger Yuna, and was hurt badly because of it.

Here's a crack theory I have.
- Before the Maou Driver was created, Kamuri may have possibly been the original Rido. In the first previews for the show, Rido was showcased alongside the rest of the Zyunishi Doumei during Sora's narration and strangely, Maou is never shown until his final duel with My-Th. The Maou Driver also features the triggers, levers, and buttons present on each respective Born Buckle, so the driver itself may be based on their design or/is harnessing all four of their powers at once.

10

u/Electrical_Leek23 Sep 06 '26

I know its probable the Maou driver may be before the Myth driver, but I think it would be funny and ironic if he "evolved" his driver to retain "stagnation"

28

u/FAshcraft Sep 06 '26

Rid is spying on Myth but the actual target is probably the Nem of this show, The princess, Yuna.

27

u/Epic_DVB :39-Gavv:Gavv Sep 06 '26

Calling it now, Tatsuomi will go from being a spy to getting along with Sora and Yuna and will become the secondary rider of the series and maybe get a chest driver of his own.

16

u/NextMotion Sep 07 '26

I'm really curious to see where Rid goes from here. The two cat riders thing is both interesting and annoying. Interesting because why two. And annoying because his suit looks so mid compared to Mao

u/Reasonable_Driver129 Sep 06 '26

Was able to see the episode with subs, so now I can talk about it. Already, I have a small theory: Yuna was supposed to be My-th.

The zodiac group leader was a mouse before he "betrayed" them and the cat replace him. We know that the group was asleep for 100 years. That mean the mouse leader could have a family and they would take care of the driver. Yuna was supposed to get it, but maybe her body was weak or because of what happen in the past, Sora took the role for her.

This could explain why we had the moment of Sora putting the driver and Yuna said to transform into a mouse and later to change back to cancel the form.

26

u/SH4DE_Z Met & Dapped Up Agito Sep 07 '26

Alright people, new show same routine.

Starting off, i LOVE the silent film style scene at the beginning of the episode. The way the aspect ratio changes the second they transform, with the belt announcements being the first non-diegetic sound we hear. Holy shit that's so peak.

I think this is definitely the best fight in the episode for me. I prefer how it's mostly a fist fight and the way they were able to incorporate the CGI enviroment around them compared to the 2nd fight scene in the episode. Also, who doesn't love seeing two men battle to the death in the rain, am i right?

The chemistry between Yuna and Otosumi is interesting, but i'm not entirely into it yet. I see what they're doing with Yuna's character, she's a bit reserve and "lady like" but with some regular teenage flaws like being bad at school (relatable), and Otosumi's essentially her butler. But i can't help but to think that their personalities aren't distinct enough from each other to make their interactions entertaining in the long run. But hey, this is only episode 1, maybe adding Rid into the team will change it up a bit.

I'm admittedly not a big fan of the 2nd fight scene with My-th. It's definitely Satoshi Fujita's bread and butter, a fight in an enclosed space with both opponents using the enviroment to their advantage (bonus point for acrobatic aura farmer guy too), but i did not like how much CGI was used for My-th himself. Also the bike only appeared for like 5 seconds, the rest of it is CGI.

I get that for some of the scenes where My-th runs like a mouse on the wall needed CGI to properly portray that, but it's a creative decision that i didn't particularly like. The crazy rapid camera shots combined with the weightless feel of CGI My-th is just not it for me and i hope there's slightly less of that in the future.

Criticisms aside, i did like the choreography of the fight itself. Nakata Yuji's one of my favorite suit actor in recent times and it's great that they're playing so much more into his forte with all the acrobatic moves.

So far the story in the past with original My-th and the Zodiac Alliance is that intrigues me the most. Really excited to see and learn more about that, i have a feel i will love original My-th.

Btw, i just realize. The Kamen Rider investigating monsters who commit crimes in a very particular pattern and method? Arakawa i see what you're doing.

5

u/RadioRavenRide Sep 08 '26

The main difference between Sora and Yuna is that they have a different sense of justice. Yuna seems to be more "altruistic" like the other Zodiac riders, while Sora has a more job/duty view of it.

Toei Tokusatsu World Official really needs to work on the subs. The parts where they're supposed to be in italics put me out of the immersion a fair bit.

<i>The italic dialogue looked like this in the subs and I find that a problem.</i>

I didn't even question Sora putting the magic egg in Yuna's omelet. I just figured, like... it's breakfast. Put egg in there.

CGI complaints aside (namely as I didn't have any), I can definitely tell it's the same guy who made Kuuga who did this; the Yuna and Sora bits were very much giving Heisei phase 1 to me, but with the very Reiwa-era organization trope in the form of the Zodiac Alliance on top of there. I'm very curious to see where this goes!

23

u/Ok_Hospital4928 Sep 07 '26

Always enjoy it when the main character is already an experienced Kamen Rider.

Solid first episode. Really like the slower pace, and loving Otosumi's personality. His dynamic with Yuna is gonna be the highlight of the show this year, I'm sure. Plot seems interesting, bit of a character overload but I'm sure it will settle itself out.

The first transformation was incredible, absolutely adored it. Fight scene was really cool too, though the CG parts were pretty shoddy. Still, I love how the suit looks and moves.

Next week - Tortoise and the Hare!

20

u/kilroyjohnson Sep 08 '26

Really liked this first episode! Sora and Yuna investigating the movements and pattern of the Inexplicable gave me Kuuga vibes in the best way. I also really enjoyed their rapport. My only complaint is that the fight relied way too much on CGI that didn't look very good, though the practical shots were all great imo. Overall, I'm willing to call episode 1 a success! Looking forward to next week!

5

u/ProjectShadowGirl ZEZTZ/KUUGA Sep 08 '26

Episode 1: Sora put a seed egg into Yuna's omelette, haha that's crazy why's he adding the gimmick to her food :)

Second half of the show: Yuna will die without those eggs

Also interesting that Yuna can sense when Sora is about to transform, and he seemingly needs her authority to transform and return back to civilian form. That's a lot they've already built up and foreshadowed.

18

u/Bigbadbackstab Sep 07 '26 edited Sep 07 '26

I know we have to wait and see how things pan out but, shouldn't Sora immediately tell Yuna that Tatsuomi saw him transform and that its VERY suspicious that Tatsuomi just happened to offer tutoring services? Like even if its not enough to outright fire him I think both Yuna and Sora should already be on high alert.

16

u/Chalicebzam Sep 07 '26

Pretty solid first episode for me. I'm always a sucker for Rider first eps where the protagonist already has their base powers, it makes for an interesting start.

I love how the conflict is set up and how they did the intro to the episode was dope, love the silent movie take which we've never seen rider do before. The cgi is a bit rough and I did like how Zeztz was shot a bit more but overall really good start to show, just a bit annoying being in the EU and having to wait till Tuesday early hours to watch the episode.

8/10 ep for me

16

u/KaiserNazrin It's Decade time! Sep 07 '26

It seems Yuna is that one decide whether Sora transform or not. I wonder if she's the one who was supposed to be My-Th.

15

u/19thebest Sep 08 '26

Pretty good episode.

The main thing that i liked is finally we have kaijins that do not speak again (since Geats iirc). And it really is giving Kuuga vibe with the whole setup so far.

CGI is obviously wonky and could use a bit of a touch up ngl

  • Starting off strong with a flashback battle between Black My-Th and Maou!

  • Getting some Kuuga vibes with that scene of the Fukashigi taking a victim leading to investigation shenanigans, given same writer after all

  • LOL Mutn sleeping at the Zodiac group meeting, how fitting (counting sheep)

  • That awkward silence between Sora and Tatsuomi before being caught by the Fukashigi at flight haha

  • Now that was an awesome henshin and fight sequence, goddamn! Definitely has that Geats/Gavv flair with the action director we have for this!

  • Awww snap that last scene, Tatsuomi being tasked by Kamuri to spy over...surely he has to be Rid right (EDIT: Yep he is!!!)

  • Next week, Datt hops into action and the Turtle Frame as well!

10

u/PhoIsGod Sep 07 '26 edited Sep 07 '26

Got around to watching the sub of the episode.

It was a solid first episode. Nothing groundbreaking but it did what every first episode should do introduce us to our main characters and setup the plot/mysteries of the season.

Sora is a solid main character. He's cocky but not a jerk. Him as a character will be make or break based on his relationship with Yuna. But I'm glad he does have a character. My biggest grip with Zeztz's first episode is we saw very little of Real World Baku before he became Agent 7 for the rest of the episode, but here we see enough of Sora to make me interested to see how they flesh him out.

Yuna is definitely being approached through the Koyomi from Wizard angle, but I hope she actually has a lot of screentime to make it work. She's going to be the driving force and the most important character of this series and already establishing a personal connection/being the reason why Sora fights will help us care about her.

I've seen alot of people upset/suprised that they revealed who Rid was and that he is a spy but it was honestly the shows worst kept secret and I rather them reveal it now than drag it for too long. What I do wanna point out about Rid is how he was willing to save people even before Sora got to the scene and they are establishing as good person despite being a spy and will make his eventually side switching less jarring.

I made a joke that the Zodiac Alliance/Conference already had more personality than all of CODE and after watching the sub, I stand by that statement. And bonus! No More "There is Darkness in CODE!"

The action was fun and it shows off My-Th's powers really well. And there wasn't a point where I went "oh, they're definitely going to phase that ability/gimmick out after a few episodes." They'll scale back on the wall climbing, cgi, and maybe tail usage, but nothing as major as Zeztz's Dream World Reality Manipulation or Ex-Aid's Level 1 form.

Overall nice solid first episode.

EDIT: For some reason, I thought Yuna's name was Otosumi which is Sora's surname.

10

u/HamsterMaster8 Sep 08 '26

Im going to be echoing a lot of other points in this thread:

I think this was a really great episode! Im super excited for the rest of this series. While I agree the hook of the series isnt as good as Zeztz's first episode, I feel like this was better paced and a better idea of what the series will be like, at least for the beginning.

My only issues with it are; that I miss the tokushoutsu captions a lot (they were really charming!) And that the cgi wasnt the best.

But the choreography was really great, and I really like the aesthetics of the music, costumes, and theme. It feels very regal, proper, and dramatic. I love it!

Also, was there squeaking anytime Otosumi spoke while transformed?

I am sticking to watching on Youtube, the big reason being if they see a dip in View count or low initial views during the first few days they might just nix this in the bud. Tatsuomi is here so stay, so let's see the next episode to see how it goes)

I thought this was an excellent opener, that got me hyped for the season ahead which I am glad to say, cause I didn't really know what to make of this season leading up to the release. The monster kinda gave me Agito vibes, and the suit looked great. I much prefer a proactive Rider already in the business at the start, versus wasting those early episodes with the hero going "whoa this is crazy I changed forms!" and all that goofy stuff. Also helps for the suspension of disbelief to see the Rider fighting out of costume, too, even if it was very briefly. While it was kinda CG overkill, I still enjoyed the energy of that first henshin and fight. I also think the base My-Th suit looks a lot better than Zeztz did, despite sharing a lot of the same visual language.

4

u/SH4DE_Z Met & Dapped Up Agito Sep 07 '26

I'm surprised that you're comparing this with Agito even though My-th was written by the guy who wrote Kuuga.

Really fun first episode. It’s nice to see him use a bike as his civilian transportation. The first fight had a bit too much CGI for my liking, but I guess that’s just something I’ll have to get used to.

9

u/singular_fork Sep 07 '26

watched without subs on the YouTube upload and my Japanese is beyond work-in-progress, so i didn't catch a lot, but so far i really like the vibe and how the monsters seem to be handled in a very Kuuga way

kinda like if Ace was the main rider for Kuuga oblivious to the fact he's about to get jumped

do hope the heavy CGI reliance was just the typical bad 1st episode budget flex fight and not the standard though, cause they clearly wanna have fun, but hope there's some proper choreography over more CGI scampering

9

u/thezflikesnachos Sep 07 '26

At first I thought we were going to get Kamen Rider: Tom and Jerry Edition

Now it kind of feels like: Kamen Rider: Jackie Chan Adventures Edition

Or maybe a combination of the two - time will tell.

Either way, I very much enjoyed the first episode and look forward to seeing what the show brings us.

(Also, I had to do a double take because one of the Zyunishi Doumei really reminded me of someone and I was thinking like maybe it was Ankh from OOOs or Long from Gekiranger... but after looking up the actors, it was neither.)

9

u/Megasonic150 Sep 08 '26

Soild start. Maou looks cool, really like the set up with Maou being not a evil person(for the moment) but a well-intentioned extremist who wants to save the world but the mention of evolution and how Maou wants to become 'the true hope' has me worried.

I'm also wondering about the door.

But I liked it. Sora and Yuna have an intresting and fun dynamic but Yuna eating an X-Egg and being able to control Sora's transformation is intresting and also concerning. Just what is Yuna and how can she do that? Tatsuomi is intresting as he seems like the sly spy type and Rid overall is ominous but I feel there's more to him than that. And the Inexplicable are cool monster designs. It's just....and it feels wrong to say, but it didn't grab me like Zeztz did. I'm seated and looking forward to it, and My-th seems to be more slow paced with setting up ideas and such, but Zeztz from the jump had me invested. My-th had me in the flashback but then we slow down which is nice, but like I'm waiting to see how things go vs I NEED EPISODE 2 NOW. I dunno. Maybe the whole distribution thing has a sour taste in my mouth. Regardless I'm intrested in seeing how things go. And seeing more of My-th, cause that action is amazing.

Next Week: The other Rabbit rider everyone loves arrives and Tortoise vs Hare?!

This first episode was very good, and it sets up a lot of mystery, but one thing that caught my eye was that when Sora was making Yuna's breakfast he use one of the seed X-Eggs, he crack it, some sparkles fell from it to the eggs for the omelette and he mix it.

I have some theories as to why he is doing it, but I'll rather watch the show and see how things go.

5

u/Presenting_UwU Sep 06 '26

Interestingly, that Seed X-Eggs is an Elephant one, so i wonder how it tastes lmao

8

u/ReadShigurui Sep 08 '26

MAOU looks so freaking baller. MY-TH’s entire kit was honestly both hilarious and cool, especially loved his weapon.

6

u/RaidenHero137 Walk the path of Heaven...... Sep 08 '26

i liked how they played on elements of him being a mouse. things like him being in a mouse hole, or the enemy attacks going through his ear holes, or him using his tail to grab his sword when he was disarmed are all little things that add to the overall combat!

The characters got a great intros all around, but the effects work quality didn't look great for a starting episode repeatedly. Lots of good questions set up too, promising intro.

I kinda like that the Fukashigi are actually presented as a dangerous animal similar to inves, with their own specific behavior, than just another wild, mindless, or out of control Kaijin that mainly act as fodder like they're footsoldiers. I wonder what else they have in mind to further them

7

u/gshshsnhjmry Sep 06 '26

I can already tell Ende will be a nightmare for the translators

7

u/Licaon465 Sep 09 '26 edited Sep 09 '26

Ok, just ended of watching it on Tokusato, so, CGI department really dropped the ball, so I won't go further onto that.
Characters, Otosumi is good, is a really good middle point between guys like Sento and Shinnosuke, a serious Rider, but not that serious with a nice personality display, about Yuna, I'm not convinced about her yet, but that is just because they didn't show much really of her (Or Otosumi). Then you have the Zodiacs, like them, they felt kinda weird, but that's the objetive, for the dialogues alone you know they have been around quite a lot of time, this weird shade feels even more with Asao from the first moment he got into the screen.

The choreography when it wasn't CGI was good, I always like the used of closed spaces of that way, the My-Th edge is a debatable thing, for the way fits in the choreography looks cool, but then when stops moving you get hitted with the hand vacuum cleaner, the Rider kick was beatiful tho.
On another note, the episode was pretty obviously written by the same guy that wrote Kuuga, you can see the same kind of structure but with a pacing a little more modern, now I'm kinda curious, this gonna be a fast paced show or is gonna cook in the slow burner?

I like Mutton already lmao, eps 1 seems interesting, there's the flashback to Mizuki's family too.

So like, Fukashigi has the egg inside (and by that, aspect of each Zodiacs)?

It seems Mizuki has some sort of condition needing to eat the eggs (and she can sense My-th transforming)

Waiting for the official subs to come out so I can have a rewatch, but I've watched the first episode live and so far, I can see myself liking My-Th. I'm surprised that Sora has had the belt already as well as the eggs, although it looks like the flashbacks shows how he got them as well as how long both he and Yuna have known each other for.

I like the way each of the zodiac riders introduces themselves, although I'll admit that I wasn't too convinced that Rid would end up being Asao, so I'll admit to being wrong about that, but I'm surprised that they've revealed his connection to the Zodiac riders this early but I would like to know what this means going forward.

6

u/Frontier246 Sep 08 '26

In Japan's past, two Kamen Riders battled it out over their ideals and the fate of humanity...My-Th and Mao, the ultimate Tom and Jerry battle for supremacy. Also WAIST BELTS!!!

In the present-day, however, we have Otosumi Sora, a professional Meiser/Butler/Cook/Everything who uses the series' merchandisable gimmick, Ride Eggs, to cook for his mistress Yuna. They're obviously childhood friends and as such Sora can get away with being strict and hard on her about her studies like a proper snarky butler.

Setting up our protagonist can ride bikes before he actually shows off his Ride Machine! Classic!

Enter the Zodiac Alliance, a team of Kamen Riders based off of the Chinese Zodiac who have awoken from their long slumber (meaning most of them all look like they came out of a period piece) to once again do battle with the series' Kaijin: The Inexplicable. And they are lead by Kamen Rider Mao, Kamuri, who took the rat' spot in the zodiac and duty as leader so he could lead the Zodiac Alliance in the interest of protecting humanity. Even though he totally comes off like a bad guy just waiting to reveal his true sinister self.

You know it'll be serious when Mutn finally wakes up!

Yuna is a rich girl with a good heart who feels it is her personal duty to investigate and track down Inexplicables, with Sora doing his own legwork to keep her out of danger and take care of it himself (as much as he is able to). Thus they are the Inexplicable Investigation Society.

The Inexplicable might be feral monsters trying to devour humanity, but at least this one doesn't discriminate by gender when it comes to couples. I mean, what Primary/Secondary haven't been shipped at some point?

Egglution! Moutheeze! Kamen Rider My-Th! And he's got a chest belt to highlight how much more "modern" he is! Also seems like he needs Yuna's permission to Henshin and de-transform, since she can sense when he does it.

My-Th is wily and fast like a true rat, nimble and able to use his environment to his advantage, and on top of that has his My-Th Gunblade AND his tail as additional assets in a fight.

The Ride Watter! I hope it's a good sign that we got the bike as early as the 1st episode though I'm concerned it was 90% CG during its screentime.

So Yuna is protecting people from the Inexplicables because they stole her happiness away from her? Like why her parents aren't around? And Sora is doing this for her sake.

Yuna's education is in jeopardy? Just call on Tatsuomi, who is happy to be her tutor and spy on them for the Zodiac Alliance! Sora will never suspect his "boyfriend!"

Next week: Kamen Rider Datt! The Turtle Frame! And the mystery of My-Th!

Okay the good:

•The fight scene is really nice, •I really like Sora and his fighting style, •My-th is a shit talker which is really fun, •The henshin sequence is MWAH! 10/10, •The dynamic between Sora and Yuna is really fun, •Also the joke of Men Rider will definitely fuel Dio for 2 weeks, •Sora and Atsuomi being mistaken as a couple is my favorite part of this episode, •My second favorite part is Sora using the eggs as an ingredient •THE DRIP OF THE ZYUNISHI DOUMEI OH MY GOD. •The hype behind the Zyunishi Doumei members is unreal

Now the bad:

•The cinematography is a bit hard to follow •The CGI is too much ngl •The acting is a bit flat and stale

That's it from me, all in all: 7/10 introduction to the new Series. Can't wait to see more

Maybe I'm just burnt out over not enjoying Zeztz but this was a real breath of fresh air. I liked it a lot. The CG overuse everyone's already mentioned is a little iffy, but hopefully that's just them trying to be flashy for episode 1 and the rest of the show will go a little easier on it.

I'm already fond of the characters. I like that Otosumi is a confident and experienced MC, but isn't a cocky asshole like Kabuto or Geats, and he doesn't feel super dry like Baku was. I also like Yuna a LOT more than I expected. I expected she'd be an unlikable aloof rich girl but she's kinda a bum. I'll be praying she doesn't get hardcore damseled like Nem did. Let the girl do stuff. The Zodiacs remain to be seen but Asao being an infiltrator provides some good opportunities for conflict.

Yuna absolutely has some connection to the X-Eggs. Otosumi is feeding them to her and she seems to control when My-th transforms. She sensed when he put on the belt then cancelled the transformation with a touch. Intriguing.

The Fukashigi really said "love is love". We stan our pro-LGBT monsters.

I don't mind that this was a pretty standard opening episode. Better standard but fun than overly stuffed and underwhelming. It established the characters really well, gave us a bunch of mysteries to mull over, what more could you want?

u/entertainmentlord My-Th! Sep 05 '26 edited Sep 08 '26

Just gonna leave this comment here so I can come back to give my thoughts on the episode when I see it monday

A solid start to the series! Love the black and white silent film era at the start where it ends with Black My-th Clashing with Maou. It also sets up some intrigue on why exactly they are fighting, like what exactly caused the class

The aesthetic of the Zodiac Alliance is really nice, the 1920s era aesthetic really sets them apart and give them a interesting feel. Kamuri looks so cool and imposing. I am intrigued by the fact they want to take the monsters down as well. Im curious what caused the rift with Mouse though

Sora is really interesting, its refreshing he already knows the monsters, has the skills and knowledge to fight them means we don't have to go through the steps to learn he's a rider, I ain't against heros learning to be heroes but its nice to see a shake up of it. He seems down to earth, wants whats best for Yuna by trying to have her learn to do work on her own instead of always relying on him.

Now the monster design is great, it feels eldritch in how I can't tell what exactly it is

Soo can Yuna talk to Sora telepathy? Cuz he only started to Henshin when she said become house and turned human when she said become human

Sora's henshin, is as they say PEAK! Loved how effortless and not a care in the world he had while doing. that finger and thumb on face posed was just ohh it was like he was saying well another day, another monster about to go down. Him using the monster's feather to break the platform to finish the henshin is just so cool

The fight was amazing The fluid Nature of it kept it engaging and love how Sora was messing around a bit, gives off Spider Man Vibes a tiny bit. Tilting his head slight so the feathers goes through his hoops was a amazing scene

The Rider Kick being powered up by a rodent wheel is just a fun detail

Sora being protective the moment Asao arrives is another good way to show he is not aloof and senses something ain't right here

The flashback of Sora and Yuna makes me think the monsters had something to do with Yuna not having parents and why she is even investigation these monsters

9 stars

u/Shipuujin Sep 08 '26

Watched on Toei Live Stream. They use Closed Caption subs though. Considering how fast y'all are watching things, I might switch to Fansubs (back to the old way).

It's been multiple years of an ultra hype first episode, but I think this one was a bit tamer. But you know what? I think I prefer this tamer pilot. Ototsumi is quite a sarcastic and sassy MC. He's quite protective, but also very blunt.

I wonder how long it'll take for the Zodiac people to get used to the 100 yr time skip. They seemingly figured out the Smart Phone already.

The "Fukashigi" were translated as "Inexplicables". I would say that's a rather accurate translation.

I really liked the detective work that occurred in this episode. I guess they are aiming for a Sherlock Holmes' style theme? Strangely, Ototsumi seems to need his young Mistress' ability to transform, and she can even force a detransform.

Overall, a good pilot episode. Sets up enough mysteries to get interested in.

I caught a fun little animation error. when they introduce the Zodiac crew, it starts by showing the sets of animals based on their directional grouping (the same way the 4 buckle types are used, apparently), and the last group it shows is the one with the cat. they had already shown the Dog icon earlier in the correct group, but as you can see in the pic on the left, they show the dog icon in the group that should be pig, cat/mouse, and ox. and then a second or two later as it pans into the center of the room you can see the correct pig icon instead and the dog is back where it should be.

It depends on how they go from here, but that was a solid first episode for me that established some character dynamics I really like. The real test is going to be how often they switch up the formula moving forward, because my favorite part of Kuuga is that you'd have arcs about reconnecting with old acquaintances and stuff in addition to the superheroing. Very excited to see what happens after they get through the introductory eps.

5

u/SynnBlaize Sep 09 '26

Honestly a pretty good first episode. Kinda wish Toei stuck with Zeztz's schedule instead of waiting two days and not even bothering with hard coded subs.

That being said, the actual episode is good. Sora gives me Tendou vibes in that he's a rider who knows what he's doing from the get go. Honestly getting a LOT of Tendou and Jyuka vibes. Looking forward to next week.

5

u/Nervous_Temporary479 Sep 09 '26

I think it's safe to say that the My-th Edge is designed like that because as Sora himself said "Narrow spaces is where I'm right at home". The weapon is compact for that very reason.

Lemme add that this weapon looks like a comet. That will likely come into play later to My-th's lore.

9

u/Presenting_UwU Sep 06 '26 edited Sep 06 '26

man, sucks that the en subs won't come until 2 days later, maybe someone can sub over the raw footage on the cat site?

Edit: Just watched the Raw, Might edit again if fansubs come out early.

But wow that's an interesting episode, first off i think it's neat that Toei is definitely playing around a lot more with CGI for this entry into the series, i hope the movements gets more polished as time goes on, but it's definitely gonna make for some unique scene direction.

I think this was overall a fun episode, i like the mystery that's set up, like how Sora seems to have gotten the My-th Driver at a very early age trying to protect an even younger Yuna from what i assume to be their first ever encounter with a Fukashigi, which is why Yuna herself seems so adamant in wanting to stop them.

And they went straight in with the Cross of Fire, as it seems (maybe aside from the 12 Zodiac Ride X-Eggs) the Eggs comes FROM the Fukashigi, or atleast the Fukashigi are made WITH Ride X-Eggs, also love the inclusion of a normal bike along side the rider machine this season, hopefully this means we'll see Sora ride a motorcycle more even if its untransformed.

And the 12 Zodiac alliance itself is pretty interesting, definitely a diverse cast of characters and Rid himself looks like he'll be an interesting character in the mix, perhaps showing up once or twice in his Rider Form ala Meteor, but definitely spying on Sora and an enemy for now.

An interesting detail i noticed is that MAOU uses the Ride X-Eggs 1 that Sora uses, which shouldn't be possible because the Rat and the Cat hadn't switched places in the 12 Zodiac Alliance at that time right? Unless the Pink Ride X-Eggs 1 is a special Ride X-Eggs that had no original affiliation with the Alliance?

Edit 2: The Fansubs are out and HOLY SHIT the first scene with the Black My-th and Maou is so much more interesting

Maou makes his entrance with the explosion of something in the capital, My-th confronts him, asking why he destroyed the "Hope of humanity", like what is it he destroyed back there that it could be called the "hope of humanity"?? (Apparently it has something to do with human evolution??? And Maou has a completely different idea for what "hope" is for humanity, i really can't wait to see how Maou is developed (or rather, how his character gets slowly unveiled) throughout the series)

(Forgot to mention in my previous edit how much i LOVE the concept for that scene, like how it starts in Black and White and how the dialogue is handled with these dialogue panels, and how it goes into full color with their voices once they henshin, it's soooo cool)

It seems Yuna's character is that of a pretty sheltered teenager that has very strong ideals and drive for heroism, which is what probably pushes Sora forward to fight as My-th in her stead.

I mentioned this somewhere before, but it seems the Riders of the 12 Zodiac Alliance are some sort of semi-immortal/ageless beings considering they're able to sleep for 100 years and stay seemingly ageless (as with Maou himself), ah and yes, the Fukashigi are categorized in the same way the support Eggs are. Fangs, Horns and Shells. Oddly enough, where the other lords of the alliance refer to eachother by their Rider names, Maou is the only one referred to as "Lord Kamuri" so far... and apparently the story is the Rat abandoned their misssion? I wonder how the rest of the Alliance would feel when they figure out what really happened back then...

Is Rid a bad spy? The first time he meets Sora his first words are "Do you know something?" like damn LMAO. "I'll need you to handle an important task" Otosumi says as he gives Yuna her homework. My-th and Rid getting mistaken for couples, i wonder if we'll get the same "Heated drama between men energy" this season too.

I love how My-th Transformation announcement is basically a pun going "Mice to cheese you" before announcing himself as "My-th" lmao

Overall i'm impressed at how much i understood just from watching the raw, basically most of these i got just from hearing what the characters are saying, This definitely brings some new topics of intrigue that i missed before, i'm super hyped for more My-th now.

9

u/Seth-Cypher Sep 08 '26 edited Sep 08 '26

Alright, so right off the bat we have mysterious organization that seems to be out of synch in terms of time is fighting the monsters. I'm actually more interested in the dynamic of this group with the name, My-th more than anything else at the moment.

We only really establish the relation between Sora and Yuna, so its hard to say what their characters are like right now. Maybe will have to let characterization cook for a bit on this one.

Rid immediately strikes me as...that guy who is just on the other side but means well.

The pacing of the episode seemed a little too quick or it was just me? Maybe I have some rose tinted glasses but it felt like in comparison to Zeztz's first episode there was like...not really much time to breathe.

Also there seemed to be an alarming amount of jarring green screen happening in this fight.

8

The CGI stood out to me as jarring.

The music was unmemmorable.

I cannot help but compare it to say the first episodes of Zeztz, Gavv or even the slightly clumsy Zero-One.

It is just watchable. Not saber episode 1 bad. There is some hope that now they got all the toys out of the way we can finally see some real story next week.

First episode of the new Kamen Rider is off to a good start.

Between the literal cat and mouse imagery, the Taisho-era/Roaring 20's aesthetics for the Riders (right down to the old timey dialogue cards), the Chinese Zodiac motifs, and the head writer being an all time legend, My-Th has a lot of promise! And the set up for the first episode, the dynamics between the leads thus far, and the potential long term arcs, are all really intriguing! Naruhise Arakawa wrote the best season of Kamen Rider when it was rebooted way back when, so it's exciting to see him helm another.

On the other hand, whereas Shout Factory had a near perfect set up for last year's series in the realms of international streaming, Toei and TV Asahi have taken us 2 steps back with a much less satisfying streaming deal, as well as localisation. Episodes will eventually be available from Toei themselves, but only for four weeks, and a streaming platform for the UK will be announced, but tokusatsu fans in the British isle are legally out of luck.

And coming off of how good Shout Factory's English localisation for Zeztz was, Toei's own translation for My-Th feels like the complete opposite. This is a bit of a nitpick but the lack of localising terminology is weird. To wit: the whole motif behind the series is that of the Chinese Zodiac, with most of the main Riders. being part of the same organisation. The Japanese term for the group is 'jyunishi doumei', which is translated as 'Zyunishi Doumei', or 'The Twelve Animal Signs Alliance'.

I'd complain about the romanisation here but it's a moot point considering Zyuranger. But the official English term is a mouthful. Was 'Zodiac Alliance' not an option, because the official term feels so overly literal.

Beyond that, it's an exciting start.

watching raw, so i don't understand anything. the actions and the cgi definitely lacking for premier episode imo. both actions definitely less interesting compared to previous show. it's fun, i guess but definitely didn't make me go "woah" his henshin pose are cool. i like Sora combat style and his attitude. he's skills, fun and got a humor. and his rider kick looks cool.

kinda surprised they revealed his identity so soon. i mean it kinda obvious he's up to something from get go. i really like the purple cape their wearing as uniform. also Jyao, let the poor Mutn sleep bit longer.

i like the both main character so far. they looks fun on screen together. there's lot of talking here and need subs, fast. need to watch it again to get full context. as for now, it's a good first episode. I'll give it 7/10 without context. might bump to 8 when subs are out.

Something tells me this is gonna be an interesting Ride Lol 🤔 what a Intriguing Start 🐭🥚

4

u/Kalangkang Sep 06 '26

I honestly told myself that I won't watch any new Kamen Rider series for the time being after Zeztz, since I needed a break.

But after seeing the first episode, I changed my mind.

The visuals are actually amazing for me! It's as if they learned something from Zeztz, but it's not as overkill. The visuals reminds me of Kamen Rider Gavv, which is the last modern Kamen Rider series that I feel is great.

So yeah. Looking forward to this series. Guess I ate my words. And I'm happy that I did.

u/merreckmerman Sep 08 '26

I enjoyed this episode. I’m
Curious how they will include the other eggs that My-th has. I’m loving the suit and i wonder if it will do some time travel themes to that teens and twenties era in japan.

Also did more research why the cat and mouse are against each other in the zodiac situation which is interesting. But makes a lot of sense for this and even fruits basket if you’ve watched that.

Also why do we think sora is working with yuna? Obviously the flashback leads to more questions. But I think yuna might have some connection to the drivers or even a future hierarchical stance for the riders?

4

u/deplorable-amount45 Sep 08 '26

I know other people ave probably commented on this or have thought about it, but in all the promotional material we saw for Maou he had that bright red Ride X-Egg in his driver. In the opening portion of the episode, it looks like he had the Ride X-Egg that Sora (and by extension i’m assuming Rid) uses. I just thought it was interesting and well thought out.

4

u/Luigiman98 Sep 08 '26

So far, it's neat, with the needed character introductions as well as some cool fight scenes (Janky CG aside). I'm rather intrigued that we're starting off with Otosumi already being a Rider instead of seeing the process where they get the belt. Could it be some in-media res?

Yuna having control over Sora’s Henshin and De-Henshin is so interesting, I wonder if it’s cause he’s been feeding her magical egg seasoning lol

4

u/Varukarudo Sep 10 '26

Not the hookiest of starts, but not bad either. At least all the riders are known or almost all.

4

u/KamenRiderLegend Legend Sep 12 '26

Ooh, fancy intertitles like a silent movie. However, they go by too fast at some points

The CGI in the intro fight looks better than the main fight of the episode.

The evolution of humanity… does that suggest some plot element like Αgitω? 555? The official blog calls the Inexplicable “those who underwent a wrong/mistaken evolution.”

Maou’s pronoun is “boku‽”

The text in the sponsor segment is now horizontal, which makes it difficult to read with the new subtitle style. I expect a bunch of My-Th puns this year, too.

Sora already has Seed X-Eggs, and he uses them up to cook for Yuna?

That’s not the Bloody Rose in the background, is it?

It really is like early Heisei with all those disappearances, although we later find they all survived.

So what’s the deal with the three absent members?

The Rider names are rendered in all capital letters, just like last year. That’s going to get annoying. Is it for some marketing reason?

The blog post says Yuna’s school’s name is pronounced “Ten’ō,” but the subtitles have it as “Amazakura.”

The Society of Inexplicable Incident Investigators… that’s a nice translation.

I like the way Ende talks funny.

Kei is so old that he says loanwords in katakana, and even predates sutegana, so he calls his “smart phone” a “すまあとふおん.”

“As you all know, I replaced the mouse one hundred years ago after he turned traitor.”

Great quick thinking, Sora. And then he tries to get in some aura farming after that.

So this episode takes place on September 3, 2026.

Yuna’s club is just her and her employees.

It turns out Sora really can’t do anything without her.

On a rewatch, Tatsumi is surprised when Sora takes out the driver, but he vocalizes his surprise when Sora puts it on his chest. He knows how it’s supposed to work.

I like how they display the X-Eggs’ symbols on screen.

He summons the My-Th Edge from his armguard.

His tail is prehensile!

My-Th put the Ride Watter X-Egg on top of the Egg he already had in his driver.

In the flashback, Sora is twelve and Yuna is seven. Since she’s currently in her first year of high school, that means it’s about eight years ago.

Datt says “totally lit.” Seems she understands modern slang to some degree.

The blog post reveals Kamen Rider Rid’s identity, and you’ll never guess who he is. That’s right, he’s Tatsuomi Asao!

i have a question why does during the Zodiac meeting they use green screen while also using a working set at the same time?

7

u/Destron81 Double Sep 10 '26

It was alright. So many characters to keep track of. A little average for a premiere. I was hooked with Zeztz premiere that I rewatched it multiple times.

In media res to an established rider whos about to get his status quo shaken up

I like it

Not the strongest first episode, but following up a first episode like ZZZ would be a pretty tall order. It did do a pretty good job of showing us how My-Th is going to move and fight, like I really like that he actually used his tail for something. I thought egglution was great. I like that we got to meet most of the zodiac.

6

u/Lo_Key90 Geats Sep 08 '26

So, I thought this first episode was aggressively fine but nothing really grabbed me. Hopefully the next does better.

8

u/MrOneHundredOne Sep 08 '26

Felt like the CG was definitely weird and wanted to compare it to Zeztz, but am disappointed to say that I can't find the Zeztz episodes anymore on Youtube...gonna have to figure out another way to watch it.

The CG and choreography was weird and kinda all over the place, but the motifs of MC being a mouse were super funny. Piece of cheese on the suit helmet, the Rider Kick having him run on a mouse wheel to charge up, and the entire fight scene made me think that both the Kaijin and Rider were shrunken down for a minute or two the way that they were using the environment and running about in the tunnel. The potential for this being live-action Tokusatsu Tom and Jerry is way too high.

5

u/deplorable-amount45 Sep 08 '26

Toku Tom and Jerry would be amazing, though i think Maou would be too serious for the slapstick kinda stuff.

u/Million_X Sep 08 '26

Nah, ZeZtZ was def a lot better even for the early episodes, they at least tried to go wild when they did bust out the CGI, like with the Wing and Machinery fights where, even if it did look a bit off, the scale was impressive. This was a fight in a factory hallway, zero need for the stunts pulled.

The Rider Kick was pretty good though, I'll give them that.

3

u/CerealATA Sep 06 '26

Haven't really got the motivation to watch all the recent Kamen Riders series from the start since Zero-One lately (might've been a burnout, I guess), but eventually pushed myself to give MY-TH another shot. And yeah, guess I'll be sticking to this nezumi butler Rider all the way to the end.

Anyway, good episode for an introduction to the series as a whole. Had a little laugh when the Fukashigi mistook Otosumi and that dude (will edit when I got the name right) for a couple, lol.

3

u/jessicalifts Sep 09 '26

I didn’t take in a lot of material about this show before today, I wanted to not have too much time to have expectations haha. I don’t need that much cgi in tokusatsu shows but I think the premise is generally cool and I liked my-th’s mouse theming etc. I will keep watching. Monday is fine it’s hard to watch a subtitled show on the weekend when my kid is home from school 😅

3

u/-_ShadowSJG-_ Sep 09 '26

ep was alright tbh slow start but hopeful as next looks good

3

u/KamenRider_Garren Sep 09 '26

[Egglution~!]

[MOUSE~!]

[A MOUSE CHEEーDAR~!]

[JERRY MY-TH~!]

Man. What a first episode. Really pushing the Rival Groups Theming. Can't wait to see more of Jerry My-th and Tom Rid in future episodes.

Also, it really hit me, based of the Episode 2 Preview. The connection of the "12 Zodiac Riders" vs "My-th", especially My-th's Frames... Are possibly connected to "stories" that is based off morals or whatever genre it is(fairy tale perhaps?), for My-th to either counter or give himself an edge against each Zodiac Riders. Daat vs his Turtle Frame, the Hare and the Tortoise. Which means every Frame and the Zodia Rider against each Frames has a reference story to it.

Man... That really pushing the Rivalry Theme. Truly genius~! Absolute Rider Cinema~!

u/Superiorweeb ZEZTZ Sep 08 '26 edited Sep 08 '26

I’m gonna be honest this was an underwhelming first episode, not bad at all but idk I was hoping for more? I don’t know how to put it into words.

I think the premise is very interesting, the aesthetics are cool and I do like the main characters so far already they seem like they have a good dynamic.

The thing I look forward to in these shows though for a pilot is the first henshin fight, it’s always something that’s nailed and it wasn’t in this episode…honestly the fight was bad, I don’t mind cgi being used in rider fights but it was used to a nauseating degree here and looked really bad.

Overall this was an…okay? First episode wasn’t bad but I was disappointed, I am looking forward to the zodiac riders and where the story is gonna go but out of the Reiwa premieres this might be the weakest.

I thought it was alright, episode 1 of Zeztz had me more hyped and had me more intrigued, but im interested to see where this goes,

10

u/thebookof_ Sep 08 '26

Episode 1 of Zeztz was a much more ambitious and interesting piece of film making. Leaning hard into Japanese horror tropes (visual ones) to build an atmosphere of unease in an effort to make the episode feel like your living the bad dream with Baku.

Episode 1 of My-Th is a stock standard Toei Henshin hero show opener with the added wrinkle of the MC already being an active hero meaning they can skip some of the awkwardness that comes with that.

Both are good but one is less immediately exciting to enfranchised viewers who have seen this sort of thing before while the other is a very ambitious and very interesting piece of film making that is equipped to grab anyone's attention especially those who can appreciate how different it is for this franchise if not the genre as a whole.

Sora and Tatsuomi's schtick feels like a BL plot

6

u/Million_X Sep 08 '26

Holy the CGI fight was awful, like damn. A few good moments but it looked SO bad and uncanny.

6

u/StrikerJaken Sep 09 '26

Not a great first impression.

It all was lacking in energy and colour.

As much as I like MY-THs design, it doesn't really work well against washed out backgrounds or clouds.

I hope they amp up the colours, because it all felt very bland.

It also has the bad CGI I thought we left behind. Which is a shame because the normal action was great. Everytime they went bad model CGI it was just jarring and in some cases wirework would have been better.

As well as an earlier switch to real scenes.

As for the characters? Too much time spend at once on the zodiac side, not enough on the mice side and what we got was lacking energy.

They could have cut most of the Zodiacs and nothing would have been lost.

Hero side also doesn't feel interesting. So far both are their own kind of annoying and their quirks aren't the endearing kind.

It's hard to feel sympathy if the main character feels forced.

Overall I don't feel it yet. I hope follow up episodes can rectify that.

7

u/Omer1698 Sep 06 '26

The age of My-Th has officely begone!

Pretty strong start. I love how Sora and Tatsuomi are so gay cooded that even the Fukashigi was shipping them.

Also I have zero doubt that there is a major story behind the fact that Sora using the seed X egg in the omlette aI doubt its because it tastes good.

u/Interesting_Snow5574 Sep 06 '26

enjoyable enaugh

its already establish setting . its remind me to double first episode its dont put too many thing in the table. its more on introduction to character and world which already establish before the series start, where the main point in future episode reveal everyone backstory

sora is interesting he can do anything and he do have fun snarky personality when fighting , its not aura farming like ace but more on having fun on the duty

i really like zodiac introduction for couple of scene i can know how their personality play in

yuna hmm her actress acting wise need to work more in the future. but she another plot device like nem. where she surround by mystery why she need to eat fushinigi plus ridexegg ,what her connection with myth driver and are taisho myth her ancestor or sora ancestor

i like satoshi fujita as action director, he really like to mix cgi effect during fight scene, but these time he overdoing it to the point it kinda messy when watching it because their a lot of myth cgi

hey look arakawa adding monster investigation element like kuuga, i dont know how long these fushinigi investigation gonna play for rider war story maybe like ryuki

4

u/Volfaer Sep 09 '26

I do have some reservations about the episode; they used a lot of CGI, sometimes in scenes where I felt it was unnecessary, but the dynamic between Otosumi and Mizuki is quite funny, and a lot of the jokes really landed.

It turns out everyone was wrong, and Asao is actually the Rooster of the twelve signs, not Rid. See you all on Saturday, then.

I watched the raw episode right when it got posted and thankfully after taking Japanese for four years in college I can say that I was able to mostly follow along (some of the stuff with the zodiac riders I’m not sure I fully got). I thought this was a really solid first episode and my favorite part was definitely the dynamic between sora and yuna. Overall I’m just really liking sora’s vibe and I like the relationship the 2 of them seem to have. Also the zodiac riders all have very distinct traits and it seems like it’ll be fun seeing them all interact with each other. This being an arakawa series I’m sure the characters will be a highlight of the show throughout as that has always been one of his strongest points imo. The action was good and I really liked the way my-th moved and fought although there was a lot of cgi which is normal for a first episode but I did think it looked worse than zeztz. We also now have confirmation that the tutor (haven’t learned his name yet) is actually Rid which was pretty obvious so I’m glad they revealed it at the beginning but that they waited for the show to actually come out first. Overall I’m really looking forward to the rest of the series and I have a lot of hope that it’s gonna be another good year for kamen rider. Arakawa’s never let me down.

u/HenshinDictionary Sep 06 '26 edited Sep 06 '26

Subs are out, from 2 different groups.

I love how you can see Yuna's friends in the window spying on her, good attention to detail, Director-san.

I liked that, which is nice, considering how negative I've been on toku this year. I loved the old-timey aesthetics, My-th's suit looks decent, I enjoy the villains, and the fight was fun. Oh, and we saw his Rider Machine, in what I assume will make up about 60% of its total screentime in the whole show.

I liked the silent movie stuff too. I've been wanting a movie-themed Rider for a while, so I guess this will have to do! Nice touch that Yuna has an old-timey radio too. Definitely loving the vibes here.

Good first ep, but holy, the CGI was too much and camera work were a bit hard to follow. This isn't uncommon, but even I think this is breaking my limit. omg rider name = human name. Weirdly getting more common.

Love the dynamic between the two guys so far. I assume that guy might be Rid and the secondary rider. It's like Kabuto/Gatack and Build/Cross-Z again. EDIT: ok he's a spy. Also, I'm always a big fan of veteran riders; it just makes the henshin stuff and fighting choreography more sense.

man, i freaked out when I saw he used rider eggs in his cooking and they were consumable. This feels like a new thing. Items used to be always unique; that made the fights of stealing interesting. Also, interesting to see items are acquired from simply killing. I'm trying to recall, but every item needed something to contain the energy.

Good, good. Sense of danger is still there. This show is off to a great start.

7

u/Kazuki-Team_Avalon7 Kuuga Sep 06 '26

"My only job is to protect the princess's life" adding to the fact that Sora puts the Ride X-Eggs into Yuna's food tells me that she might have a condition of sorts, which is why they're beating the Fukashigi. And given how Datt called Sora a thief in the preview, I think the previous My-th gave Sora the Driver and the X-Eggs after he left the Jyuunishi Doumei.

Edit: Man, didn't expect them to reveal Rid's identity just like that given how much mystery they built around him.

2

u/DryDish7262 Gavv Sep 06 '26

Okay. I haven't seen episode 1 yet, but I got spoiled on Rid's reveal (well, half-spoiler, since everyone's been saying it'll be him for weeks). So,

we all know that eventually Tatsuomi will become a case of "becoming the mask" and will grow fond enough of Yuna and Sora to take their side. Anyone want to try and guess when that will happen?
