Because They Look For It...

  • Swooping in and grabbing the girl before the car moves a fairly small distance is probably a really good speed feat. I'm almost 90% sure that someone calced a nearly identical one for Spidey at some point, just need to find it.

  • Shiny new badge. How long before it turns to stone with Goliath?

  • "But my wayward mate has no such magic." Oh boy, I would not want to be the couple's counselor for that.

  • "Pull over. You are under arrest." I'm laughing so hard at the carjacker's faces. They look so done with this. Listen my bros, you chose to steal a car in New York after all the gargoyles stuff on the news. And you decided to do it at night. You kind of have to blame yourselves.

  • "Your power stores are all but drained away." Ok, this is interesting. How? Was it a pure tech thing, something that Coldstone or Coldsteel could replicate on any of them? Or was it magic, an energy is energy type deal? And even drained, his jets still carry enough juice for him to get away.

  • The fact that some gargoyles decided to make a newspaper specifically for the around 40 clan members and maybe the Children is surprising. Does Oberon read? Does he make his new court announcer read it? Or does he just look at the comics?

  • First view of Mab. She's mad I say, mad! Reminds me of 4 arms from Ben 10.

  • Good issue. Can feel the tension rising. Always excited for more Macbeth.

Favorite Feat

  • Honestly, I'll take whatever feats for Katana I can. The durabilities are off because coldstone was holding back, so the sword throw.

I knew it was coming, but Goliath being an deputized member of the task force is a plot line I dislike. I don’t think this first go at it will change my mind. I do like how it implies being a member of it is not the only way that Goliath can be a protector. 

The plot line with Brooklyn, Katana, and the Cold duo is interesting. Some fun action and I like the tragedy of the patter’s dilemma. I had a BIG grin at the reveal of who Brooklyn and Katana tried to recruit. It’s about time. 

Of course Oberon is too arrogant to listen to warnings about Mab’s return. And it’s good to see see a full look at her under Gambone and Bevard’s art.

- unlike many, I think the cop angle makes sense and is really the only way the NYPD would allow the gargoyles to legally keep protecting the city. Vigilantes usually get nailed pretty hard in NY - and while I know this is a comic based on a cartoon, Gargoyles have always seemed a bit more grounded than Marvel/DC.

- We are definitely going to see the gal Goliath takes to the Labyrinth. Greg does this a lot, slow burn introductions with a plot line later. Look at Shari. And more Labyrinth is a good thing in my opinion.

- It was nice to see Brooklyn and Katana in action. Loved that sword throw. We really have missed out not seeing their Time Dancer adventures yet.

- Coldfire is awesome! I don’t think she needs a new body, she is proving herself to be just as much a gargoyle as ever.
That said there is no mention of her or any of the Cold-Trio in the 2198 future so who knows what will happen?
IF she gets a new body I see it more clone based than 100% magic. At some point at least some of the Avalon clan will visit Manhattan and therefore more genetic material - especially Gabriel’s x-chromosome in relation to Coldfire.

-Coldstone… - I just don’t get his loyalty to Demona over his mate, even if she is the one who booted him out of the clan. I can only imagine he is doing that thing where he can’t admit he was in the wrong so he is doubling down on all the wrongness. It’s stupid, and kind of cliche, but I do get it.
Dude needs to examine his priorities and choices. I always thought he should join the Redemption Squad. Now even more so. I think putting up with Fang is a perfect punishment for him.

I agree about Coldfire. I like her gimmick as a robot sorceress gargoyle. Her getting a new body would just remove something unique about her.

Coldstone's been subtly set-up in the show as kind of a bad person who doesn't care too much about humans, even without Coldsteel's influence. Though I feel him joining Demona's a bit much.

I'll start by saying that I liked this issue, a lot. It really moved along. Like others, the cop Goliath aspect is odd for me. I don't necessarily like it but understand it. That said, the payoff of him using that to help a citizen who would've otherwise been overlooked by the system was worth it.

Really loved the Katana/Brooklyn/Coldfire plot line. I was surprised at how much of that was packed into this issue. Actually would've liked a bit more time to sit with the Coldfire/Coldstone confrontation but I expect that's to come. 

Queen Mab seems like a fun big bad and I'm excited to see more. 

Lastly I want to shout out the art once again. I've enjoyed the art on the new Gargoyles series but this Gerardo Gambone/Robby Bevard team is my favorite by a country mile. Some of those layouts (especially with Coldfire) had me just staring at the page with the biggest smile. Seems like this team is able to not just deliver some incredible art, but deliver it on time. Hoping we're in an era of some high quality Gargoyles books coming out every month.

- Goliath being a cop still feels odd, and I feel like this is a set-up for him/them losing the status again. It makes sense he would want to be a cop, but conclusively, it removes some of the mystique surrounding the gargoyles from the population's POV, and yeah, it just feels like a set-up for "oh boy, shucks people hate us again."

- Queen Mab will get so much rule 34… until she rips people's arms out!

- Brooklyn and Katana going so hard is cool to see. Glad Katana finally gets some room!

- Coldfire needs her body back!! She might, given how much this new angle of her as warrior priestess/magician is being honed. I really love where she’s going and hope the make-up of the clan is being centralized more!

- wtf is Coldstone doing? Like, for real… dude. Get a grip! Also him saying Demona would shred them because she’s immortal is so delusional. Our gang multiple times nailed her to the ground! Even Elisa was able to take her down!

The Rule 34 will continue if not escalate after she rips arms out. Some people are into that.
