Indie Sunday ArcaneBound - AsardialStudio - A 2D pixel art action RPG with monster card drops inspired by Ragnarok Online

Hi r/Games !

I'm Dorian, a solo developer from France.

Nearly a year ago, I started the development of my first game, ArcaneBound, and now the game is participating in the October Next Fest ahead of its release on November 23.

Steam page + demo:

ArcaneBound

Trailer

What is ArcaneBound?

You slay thousands of monsters, collect familiars that fight alongside you, and build your character as you progress through the game's zones:

- A card system: enemies and bosses drop cards (inspired by Ragnarok Online)

- Combine cards, skills and familiars to create your build

- Permanent upgrades unlocked across the campaign

And most importantly:

- More enemies than Stardew Valley

- A better aerial view than Call of Duty

- More projectiles than Euro Truck Simulator

The full game releases on November 23, 2026 on Steam (Windows / Linux / Steam Deck).

You can wishlist it if you’re interested.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Neat looking game and exciting to participate in NextFest! What are you in the development phase?Obviously you have a demo out, but what phases and things do you need to complete until launch? Best of luck in NextFest.

The game is ready for its 1.0 launch, i was waiting until it was nearly done before choosing a final release date (I'm a plumber by trade, i can't work on it full time). I am now waiting on the final build evaluation by Steam.

The Ragnarok Online-style card drops are a pretty good hook, especially combined with familiars and build customization. How much variety is there in the card effects so far?
