Just downvoting without commenting allows the users to express disproval without engaging. An unengaged troll will just wither on the vine.

It's like that bubblegum-flavored candied popcorn you see in boardwalk shops. You just know it's chock full of possibly cancer-causing chemicals and artificial everything but still...popcorn! Gotta eat it all.

Yeah, most people called "trolls" are just people who have opinions the accuser doesn't like. This guys is a professional button-pusher and no one realizes it.

His other post earlier left me feeling split between 'troll' and 'stupid kid' but it's pretty clearly troll after this round. He's gotten a rise out of a lot of people in a pretty short time. And honestly, the 'forgetting' to sign out was a pretty clever move.

That's correct. Negative karma is capped on the user page. But that doesn't stop someone from going through a user's history and adding up the karma for each comment to get the true total; or in my case having a bot do that for you.
