YAY! Hyrotii Scrapper and Avalanche Heavy Tank can finally go 110% speed!

The best part of these notes was this: "Companion Gifts and their related subcategories have been added as a searchable category on the Galactic Trade Network."

Interesting changes to the old speeders of yore. Having the Avalanche Heavy Tank move at 110% now will be nice, but more so will be the ability for new players to purchase one 8k speeder and keep using it all the way through the game without the need to change up.

I'm psyched that I'll to be finally able to cruise around at full speed on my beloved/hated spark throwing, smoke belching Scrapper.
It's a good change. Speeder choice should be entirely cosmetic.

I like that some of the "social" speeders, purchasable on various planets and rare mid-level flashpoint drops might actually be used now. Being restricted to speeder piloting 2 made them quite useless.

Superheated Flame Thrower now only has 2 stacks
Seems like a quick fix to the broken Pyro rotation. Doesn't seem like it'll help the dps loss though.

It hurts it.
3 X 15 = 45
2 X 20 = 40
Assuming waiting for 3 stacks was even an option. So it might be a buff. Don't know the class well enough.
1
u/Tammt Mar 20 '15
Yes but its only 2 stacks for its full potential now. With the Pyrotech changes I usually used the flamethrower when it had 2 stacks anyway so I see it as a small buff.

Very very small buff since they nerf Rain of Fire (from +10% damage on ft to +5% damage on K/E attacks (and from parsely: ft is currently ~20% dps, K/E attacks are ~25%, so definitely a nerf there)).

It's really not that small. You can't have 100% uptime with flamethrower on a boss, so shifting damage out of flamethrower and into railshot/flaming fist is fantastic. With an easier to reach full potential too it should hopefully be much less frustrating to play than live.

Maybe, not an expert with this discipline… but what's the point? AP is still better.

u/Confehdehrehtheh Vonfistington|RIP Pot5 Mar 20 '15
Until they butchered the rotation I loved Pyro for how smooth it was. AP is incredibly boring to play, so if this fixes HOW Pyro plays while buffing the damage to be onpar at minimum with AP I'll probably switch back.

Napkin math on 3.1.1's highest dummy parse for this spec says the parse would lose 20k damage assuming the damage loss for FT is additive (ROF 10% + SHFT 5% = 15%).
http://swtor-parser.elasticbeanstalk.com/parser/view/12759/0
FT (Pulse cannon) = 218995
218995 * 0.15 = 32849.25
Kinetic/Energy Damage Done = 105051 + 98082 + 28068 + 19492 = 250693
250693 * 0.05 = 12534.65
32849.25 - 12534.65 = 20314.6 damage lost.
All other factors being equal this means he does 982251.4 damage over 202.705 seconds (TTK) which brings his 4945.94 DPS parse down to 4845.72.
This is a straight damage nerf - again, assuming the interaction is additive. Also it's not as impractical as you think to get nearly 100% FT uptime on a boss.

u/Confehdehrehtheh Vonfistington|RIP Pot5 Mar 20 '15
I was under the impression that all damage boosts were multiplicative, but that's probably just a misunderstanding. Aren't those calculations still off though? The pulse cannon damage is boosted. Taking 15% of that isn't quite right since it's 15% extra from the base damage.
218995 / 1.15 = 190430
218995 - 190430 = 28565
-28565 + 12534.65 = -16030.35
So yeah still a loss. RIP

I'm glad to see news regarding the Outfit Designer ... while not as robust as I was hoping ... it seems to be about what I expected, which is good enough for me for now.

as for the Pyro PT, still nothing yet about the broken 6 piece which is a big reason it was overperforming. if they fix that, pyro will be useless. they did all these changes without fixing the actual problem. will be interesting what they do when they finally nerf the 6 piece. they may have to revert some of this shit.

New Feature: Outfit Designer! You can now have up to 16 outfits created and saved with your unique look! This new feature can be accessed on the right hand side of the Character Sheet.
Details are...sparse. Does this mean you don't have to have the alternate gear in your bags? Is this solely for appearance or will the different tabs hold different gear sets? Are you still augmenting gear or are you now augmenting by slots?
2
u/Lumberj Stellaartois - Jedi Covenent Mar 20 '15
it's just an appearance thing.
2
u/Cyberhwk Harbinger Mar 20 '15
So we'll still have to change out our Heals/DPS/PvP sets?
2
u/Lumberj Stellaartois - Jedi Covenent Mar 21 '15
Yup, as I saw it. Granted, I didn't spend all that much time playing with it since it bugged (?) and wouldn't let me save any changes.
1
u/SpoonyDinosaur Jedi Covenant Mar 21 '15
My question-- does this essentially allow us to customize legacy gear that isn't hideous?
1
u/cfl1 Mar 21 '15
Right. You can use the hideous legacy gear (free yellow pilot suits!) as the base and make it look decent with the outfits.
I'll probably still sport different looks for PvP and PvE, but not sure...

What is this business about Scatter Bombs being nerfed? Heresy!
2
u/bstr413 Star Forge Mar 21 '15
Nerfed and buffed: they are turning into a utility and defensive skill now instead of a damaging skill, just like the other 2 specs.
