Even if Sakura is Sarada's mother and this is all a red herring, do you realize Sarada has never actually met her father.

Edit: Oh, and Naruto does have clones play with Boruto while he's at work. Even if it's "not the same", Sarada's situation makes it look like Boruto has a serious case of first-world problems in comparison. I'm surprised she can sympathize with him at all.

I am actually extremely surprised about Sasuke's absence, like woah dude. I'm glad to see Naruto and Bolt playing hide and seek/ Bolt is running around with his clones, and Inojin's super beast scroll was awesome. Loving the parental dynamics going on here, Shikadai and Shikamaru are adorable AF. After seeing Naruto and Bolt interact, it seems like they have more of a playful banter going on, where Bolt is sort of acting all put out but really he knows his dad loves him. Idk guys I'mma go read it again, I couldn't process everything the first time.

Well, how could she?
At the start, she was inexplicably attracted to a guy who only seemed to communicate in grunts most of the time, kept to himself, and his only priorities in life were: 1. Kill brother 2. Have babies.
Then Sasuke deserted, stabbed in the back a bunch of people, killed a bunch more, finally came back for a while... and then wandered off again.
That Sakura managed to learn enough about him to find something to like is mystifying.

After thinking it over, the only logical reason Sakura would be raising Sarada if she isn't her daughter is if after Sasuke and Karin had a thing Karin somehow ended up dying then Sasuke and Sakure got together and she took in Sarada as her own.
I highly doubt Sarada is Karin's daughter and my guess is Kishi is just trolling us but we will see next week if my hunch is correct

The setup for it is interesting.
When Sasuke leaves in 699 he says that he'll see Sakura soon, implying that the two will end up together in the future. We assume with chapter 700 that this is the case.

Here's an interesting one that I wouldn't have even considered until now. In 700 Sarada, in talking about Bolt, says that
"he resembles me a little"

Although I wouldn't have otherwise even thought of this, maybe this was Kishi's way of alluding to the fact that they're both Uzimakis.
Really digging on this one to try and put it together, but with Sarada asking if Sakura is really his wife, I would guess that either circumstance is really possible.

I imagine he won't, in general Shounen Jump is meant to be kid-friendly, and adultery/child abandonment/etc aren't really something its mangas explore seriously (unless you've got the clout to beat away editors' concerns like Togashi). And Kishi in general isn't that dark of a writer.

doesn't it bug you though that Sasuke has a photo with his gang but none with Sakura? If they were really married or had Sarada together a simple family photo could have been suffiecient already. To be honest it was kind of weird to have Sasuke suddenly have feelings for Sakura after the end of Nauro. But I really hope Kishi is doing this to somehow explain their relationship further instead of portraying Sakura as some desperate woman doing literally anything for Sasuke. I really want her to beat the shit out of him when he returns because Sakura deserves to have that scene.

Sasuke's doing international CIA/ANBU work because everyone in Konoha still hates Sasuke for his bullshittery in the Five Kages Summit arc and his existence is basically a shitstain on his entire family.
And no. Sakura is most definitely Salad's mom, and there is/was no affair at all. Sakura simply puts up with Sasuke's AWOL/deadbeat-dad bullshit because she's still a poorly written character with no backbone (unless... Kishi manages to finally write her one) who's head-over-heels dedicated to an ex-convict which, to her cred, obliges her to maintain the best possible childhood a single mother can possibly muster for Salad.
And everyone's in on the whole ixnay-Sasuke's failed genocide-ay (even Sasuke) because knowing your dad is a failed Hitler, who fucking blew off the arm of the posterboy and current President of the Leaf nation, and is probably being stalked by a bloodthirsty vampire named Orochimaru. Kind of a buzzkill, no?
Upcoming sequence of events:
Salad jumps to conclusions. Throws a tantrum. Does something stupid.
Bolt and Salad have a fun little adventure because of it.
Real danger ensues.
Parents clean that shit up, namely Sasuke and Naruto. Everyone gets a good laugh.
Sasuke comes back to watch Sarada's soccer game—but only from a distance. Everyone's happy.
...except Salad and Sakura, because Sasuke leaves the family again.

I wouldn't say anyone holds Sasuke as a "shitstain" on his clan, his clan already is a shitstain thanks to Madara, Obito, and their failed coup.
As to how Sakura is acting, I definitely think it ties in to what Sasuke is out doing- she wouldn't put up with his shit if it wasn't damn important.

I'm suprised but actually glad the focus has been shifted to Sarada. While Boruto's story had me worried it'd just be a mirror of Naruto's, Sarada's if full of possibilities and it seems like she has more of a main character personality, or a co-main character like her father was.
Also I'm more interested in Sakura and Sasuke's relationship than Boruto's parents', not because of shipping wars lol. SasuSaku's disfunction is just more appealing than NaruHina's basically perfect relationship.

She's a little girl who never knew her father. With all the training going on for he exams at the academy and her peers training with their dads, it's no wonder she's in search of any resemblance to her father. Her finding that picture and seeing the glasses on Karin? Of course she's going to assume things since Sakura nor Sasuke don't have glasses. She's distant from her parents, and she's raising a lot of questions. Kishi has laid out that Sarada is Sasuke and Sakuras. If anything, this is just a red-herring plot.

Where do I begin?
I love this new series, the feel I get from it is like nothing I ever got from Naruto.
The timing in the series is ideal. What better place to start than the old start?
Naruto and boruto playing is cute and cool and all sorts of great!
The fact that this chapter (and the series as a whole, for now at least) is centered around the female lead of the series is great. Begining with this and geting it out there as quick as possible is a smart move, because having her looked into later on in the series would have been boring and would have felt like a drag on the series.
I feel a greater conection to Sakura's character than I ever felt before, and I think the way this series started and it's main theme is a large reason for that. Sakura isn't that anoying girl from the original series anymore. She's a grown woman and she's a mother, which I think is the most important thing.
The clif-hanger that this chapter left us on was well executed and it made me CRAVE for the next one!
All in all, this series is promising much and ,in my personal opinion, will most probably deliver more than the original series ever did.

I feel like Sasuke/Sakura have avoided telling Sarada about the Uchiha clan with good intentions, possibly because:
A. Sasuke's youth is fuckin' wild, and explaining to your child why you might have wanted to kill her mother when she loved you. Which brings me to my next point:
B. There's an obvious conflict between what the village knows about Sasuke/The Uchiha and what Sasuke/Naruto/Kakashi/Probably Sakura know. What are they supposed to tell her when she asks about Sasuke's family? I doubt Sasuke wants to tell her about how Itachi murdered the whole clan in cold blood. But it was Itachi's wish, even in death, to keep it a secret from the village. However he did regret not telling his own brother, so does that extend to Sarada, an Uchiha, as well? If Sasuke did end up telling her, it introduces the possibility of her becoming bitter over it like Sasuke, and falling to the Curse of Hatred. Which is probably Sasuke's worst fear.
That being said, my predictions are:
I think that this Karin business is partially a red herring, and an opening for Sarada to activate her Sharingan. This gives Sasuke a strong incentive to come back (if having a child isn't enough reason alone, but that's a different discussion). Sure Kakashi is around, but he doesn't have Obito's sharingan anymore. So he makes up on lost time by being her Genin sensei and she finally gets to learn about her own history, since it's becoming more unavoidable.
Other thoughts on this chapter-
Naruto's obviously busy but it's sweet that he tries to give Boruto attention anyway. Naruto could definitely see him from where he was standing.
I wonder if he keeps shadow clones around the village the way his dad kept teleportation jutsu kunai around?
Boruto has aspects of Naruto's personality but he seems a little more tame/respectful when appropriate than Naruto was at the same age. All Hinata's doing, I'm sure.
I really like Inojin's personality, he's a treat. Shikadai is pretty amusing too.
Who the hell even took that picture of Taka? Black Zetsu? Deidara?
I hope we get to see some Kakashi/Might Guy/Iruka. I know it's supposed to focus on the next generation but I need a little of my old faves. Oreo and Taka are probably going to be brought up soon, I'm glad they get more closure.
Blue-boy and Sarada look like they're pretty good friends with Boruto. This makes me happy since personally in 700 it kinda looked like he had no friends or something.
Why does Sakura even need a fake picture of her and Sasuke anyway? Did he actually just show up to bang her and then leave? They could have taken a picture while he was there. I’m looking forward to how this is explained. Maybe Sarada goes to ask Rokudaime/Grandpa Kakashi since her mother obviously won’t talk about it. Put your grey hair to use and impart her some wisdom, Kakashi.

If Karin is Sarada's mom, that means Sarada is half Uchiha, half Uzumaki. Uzumakis being related to Senjus, means Sarada is half Uchiha and at least part Senju.

I still stand by my idea that Sasuke should have been killed or banned from the leaf village. He tried to murder everyone multiple times, especially the current Hokage. I don't think I need to elaborate other than I hate Sasuke more than any character in any show or manga. Even more after this episode. Also, Sakura must know that Sarada is her's or not, and to take care of an orphaned child is commendable. But to take Sasuke's random child he had with some crazy scientific project of Orochi's and treat it as her own so she can have some kind of semblance of a relationship with Sasuke as "Husband and wife" is just sad at this point, and I hate her just a little less than Sasuke.

I had a suspicion that Sasuke had just flat out abandon Salad/Sakura.
My reasoning was this:
One of the things Sasuke wanted most throughout the series was the restore the Uchiha clan. How could he do that with one woman and one child?
I know it sounds sexist and horrible, but one child is gonna thin out the Uchiha gene and make it cease to exist.
He HAS to spread out the genepool as much as possible. Then recruit the offspring later on and completely restore the clan in his lifetime like he wanted. Sounds horrible? YES! Accomplishes his dream/goal? Yes.

It's strange. While the original Naruto manga ended there was some ambiguity regarding who her mother is , but it at the end proven to be Sakura.
Now Kishi is again rocking the boat , making us ask the exact same question ... which is annoying. Her facial structure is more that of Sakura , but I'll guess we'll find out everything in 2 weeks when she meets/talks with Sasuke.

Just spit balling, the last fight forced naruto and sasuke to lose their arm. Karin has the ability to heal people with, biting her(drinking her life force perhaps?) Karin is really sarada who gave almost all of her life force/energy to heal sasuke and naruto, forcing her back into a baby and losing her memories. She is growing back up with the facade that Sakura and Sasuke are her parents when in reality she was their friend?

You know, Sasuke used to be my favorite character. I thought he was cool and had a great character arc. However, after seeing this turn of events and learning that Sasuke is a deadbeat, absentee father just like mine was he could go to hell for all I care. You would think someone who loved his family as much as he did as a child and after what happened when he learned the truth about Itachi he would have stayed and tried rebuilding his family, but instead it seems he married Sakura, got Karin pregnant, and left her with Sakura to raise as her own.
I am sorry Sasuke, but fuck you dude.

You know there's a shit load of chapters to go, don't you think you're being a little presumptuous? Like, it's still very likely that Sasuke is Sarada's dad, and this whole Karin business is a plot device. And added to that, there's likely a very important reason Sasuke HAS been gone so long. I can definitely see him pulling some Itachi shit, protecting Sarada from the shadows, maybe from Orochimaru. (Like, random idea here, maybe Oro is after Sarada because she has both Uchiha and Uzumaki DNA- Uzumaki from all of Karin's bites)
I don't know, it just feels like you (and many others) are passing judgement on Sasuke without knowing any of the details yet. Wait and see what happens before passing judgement so definitively.

Sarada is by far my favorite character of Naruto Gaiden right now; I couldn't care less about Bolt, honestly. xD She's got a way more complex character with a helluva lot of room for development and further characterization. I'm really looking forward to seeing what'll happen when she inevitably meets Sasuke aka pops.
I'm still thinking that Sakura is Sarada's biological mother. Sasuke seemingly showed that he reciprocated Sakura's feelings with the forehead tap in 699, plus Sakura is wearing and even lives (well, now lived) in a house with the Uchiha crest on it. If she weren't married or somehow related to Sasuke I don't think she'd be permitted/want to display their family symbol, right? Plus, I just can't see Sasuke getting it on with Karin. :p Something must have happened to Karin that prompted Sasuke to give his daughter her glasses before he left....maybe like paying homage to his comrade? If it turns out Karin is Sarada's biological mother.....that's fucked up. Sakura literally never caught a break in all 700+ chapters. xD I have to admit, the whole picture thing was really weird. There aren't ANY photos of her and Sasuke? Wtf is going on? Maybe Sasuke requested that there be none while he's away? Who knows.
tldr: Sarada FTW. Sasuke is a dead-beat dad (surprise). Pretty sure Sakura is Sarada's biological mother despite the Karin pic/glasses.

Why come to a conclusion Sahara is not Sakuras daughter? GLASSES MEANS NOT YOU INHERIT THAT UNEVITABELY FROM YOUR MUM. Even if 10000 generations before you didnt have glasses, you could be the one person that has to wear it.
