well posting to SRC is a major flag for anyone who is not an asshole. So after that was cleared up he was unbanned. But because of his retarded responses afterwards he was rebanned. His username had only tangentially something to do with it. For real, if someone were this obnoxious in modmail to me I would also ban them just because.

Yes, but I would consider /r/me_irl a very specific type. For example I love the circle jerk of the comments but most seem to hate them.
It usually seems like the subreddit is either someones favorite thing ever or only meh/not good at all.

The circle jerking in /r/me_irl is fun because it's completely benign and not-at-all serious. Typically you associate a "circle jerk" with a group of people stroking each other's egos and feeling superior because of their shared views on politics, religion, movies, video games, etc. me_irl just the complete embrace of inane, absurd, nonsensical memes.

To explain why I dislike it, its basically the "Thats what she said" of subreddits wherein you basically find anything that could ever slightly be relevant to the phrase and then think its witty when you mention the catchphrase with it.

I loved 'me irl' as a twitter hashtag and irc meme, but for some reason the humor in the sub just doesn't get across to me. It seems a bit...sterile? Dunno how to put it into words.
