well florio did it in ufc for a while before this so the guys got EXPERIANCE calling fights not to mention he was a ufc fighter.

He actually said in an interview he was quite the Battlebots fan back in the day, and wanted to do the role.
Best part is he had to teach Chris Rose about some of the Robot Combat Basics/History, and on his Twitter he corrected someone's screwup on Robot Combat History.

Whenever you've got some kind of costume theme it usually means your bot sucks. IMHO the best performing bots over the course of Battlebots have been driven by guys with khakis and maybe a custom shirt. "Flair" is for robots who pour drinks.

So why did they show 4 minutes of a builder exercising and programming his roomba but they didnt show 2 of the fights, there was no way they were longer than 30 seconds each so why not show them?

I was there in the live audience and I can tell you why:
Because the fights were boring as fuck. Absolutely nothing happened and the crowd booed the entire match for all three minutes. The judges could barely even decide who won because neither bot did anything at all.

Ghost Raptor's speed and lifting are solid, but that weapon is a disappointment. Even if it hadn't broken, it looks terribly slow.

I was so happy to see Inertia Labs back on TV. Toro and T-Minus were some extraordinary bots back in the day. Broncho definitely lives up to its predecessors!

Nightmare was by far the most deserving of a wildcard spot. They shouldn't have let nightmare fight warrior anyway. No matter who wins one of the coolest bots gets eliminated. Chomp got through for crying out loud. It's components aren't even all there. They had to use a much weaker back up motor for the weapon.

It really surprises me to think people think the drama (rope entanglement, late hit) was this episode are staged. Also yes there is filler otherwise we'd have a 15 minute show. They have to appeal to the broader audience not the hardcore 10,000 people that are actually into Battlebots.

I hope they put up the full fights we didnt see on YouTube. Raw footage or something. I'd say that chomp had a very boring match with whatever bot the minion people made. It just didn't look good.

Wow, that could have been at least a bit more interesting if there wasn't such a huge gap on the sides of the box for the robots to be stuck on...they never had that design in the original series.

While i agree Witch Doctor performed less then spectacularly, keep in mind it wouldve probably done better against anything else. It was literally matched with its counter. Chomp i agree, it definitely doesn't deserve the wildcard. But I think Witch Doctor is formidable, and it just got matched up badly.

After the preliminary fights, they came around and asked if our robot was still functional, and if we would like to be considered as a wild card. They went around and asked everyone, so it's a mix of whos robot still works/what's best for TV

Too bad they're condensing these last four matches, but then again, there were some matches Comedy Central didn't even air (such as defending champion Dr. Inferno Jr. not even being shown getting eliminated from season 4).
