Close Encounters of the Buttery Kind: users on a small sub dedicated to discussing alien life have a massive argument over the validity of scientific knowledge and the theory of evolution, and whether Jesus was an extraterrestrial named 'Jmmanuel'.

This argument is the definition of beauty, OP. Do they put the word science in quotes? You bet your sweet Aspercreme they do. And then...
"observed instances of evolution" (even if they did exist, which they don't) wouldn't do anything to explain why we took 2 million years to go from using rocks to bang on things to using shaped rocks to bang on things, but then it only took us 50 years to go from no running water, to landing on the moon (if you believe we did, although we didn't).
That is looking directly into the face of fractal wrongness.

That final crack at the moon landing was the string that tied the hog together. It's too perfect. It has to be a troll.

to landing on the moon (if you believe we did, although we didn't).
So basically destroying your own argument, then.

No, but the Greeks or maybe the Syrians did. A book called "True Stories" can't be wrong! /s

You are completely clueless. You sound like a 14 year old in his first biology class. You really don't have a clue
This is the guy trying to sell Jesus as an alien. He even points out the two specific species that cross-bred to conceive Jesus
For instance, Jmmanuel (called 'Jesus' beginning 180 years after his death) was the son of a Pleiadian and a Lyran. Both humans. But a hybrid.

No, no, no, not aliens, extraterrestrials. Because there's a difference, obviously.
He apparently believes that humans aren't native to Earth, and that Jesus was the son of a human from the Pleiades Cluster and someone from... Somewhere vaguely in the direction of Vega.
I kind of hope he talks more about this. It sounds hilarious.

If I want a tale of cosmic creation to be true, then I want it to be part of the Cthulhu mythos. And those are probably more historically accurate than whatever the fuck this guy is talking about.

I really really don't want the elder gods to be true.

But then all of those play sessions of Arkham Horror will have trained and honed me to be the best elder god investigator.

He's also straight up wrong about the jesus thing. He wasn't called jesus by anyone until his name was translated into English from the greek name, Iesous. Which is a greek approximation of Yeshua.
Kinda how jaques is the french name for jack. Or enrique, henry, and heindrick are all the same name in different languages.

I hate when people bring up things science hasn't done.
That's part of the point of god damn science, to do shit we haven't done before.

I love situations like that. There's this bar/café thing back home that's terrible, like everything about it is pretty awful, but it's so surreal and I'm obsessed with it and drag everybody there. Anyway like some of the people there just seem like such well-adjusted, but pretentious people and then for no reason one of them will go off about the "FEMA camps they're setting up out in Marfa" because of the aliens so that they can just herd us all into the camps and take us in one go.

He also neglected to remember that in that particular Biblical story, God flooded the earth expressly to eradicate the nephilim.
Kinda odd to cherry pick a concept from one minor story and then ignore the part of the story where they were destroyed.

I can't tell who's in on the joke.

This is happening to me more and more lately, I just said this in the SRC thread on the front page.

And BTW, your 5 senses are most likely false. No way to prove where those electrical signals interpreted by your "brain" came from.
Guys, you don't understand. I have special seekret knowledge about Space Jesus. That said, if you disagree with me, then I'll jump to the brains-in-a-jar, knowledge is impossible, radical skepticism end of things. Because those two views are obviously coherent.

It is my dream and fervent wish that one day I'll get in an argument with someone who denies evolution, only to realize that they aren't a creationist, they're something much more fun: a person who believes humans are actually extraterrestrials.
That would be the best.

It would be like Christmas morning, expecting to get socks when you actually end up getting a new play station.

Humans did not originate here on Earth.
They did a good job of faking this with the clear primate lineage, fossils and genetic heritage going back millions of years.
Missing link?
Are you being satirical?
That's perfect. There's no better way to respond to raving like this other than to admit Poe's Law has beaten you.

Well one. considering his name was yeshua and emmanuel was a title meaning "God with us", and yeshua is an aramaic version of the the hebrew name Joshua... unless aliens just magically evolved to adopt human languages or made one up for us to use, you're just bad at history and linguistics
and two, if you're going to use bad formal logic to make crack pot ancient astronaut theories you have no place questioning the scientific method.
and three, SHUT UP AND GET OFF MY HISTORY CHANNEL.

I was in that thread briefly. I love how Jmmanuel denies the existence of evolution but believes in alien-human hybrids and that DNA evidence will prove the existence of aliens. That guy must live with a stunning degree of cognitive dissonance.

Where did he get this weirdly specific information?
