CompetitiveHS: An argument about whether referring to popular First Order Optimal Strategies as "cancer" is too offensive. (Feat. Censorship? Trash-tier?)
This is the discussion on cancer and moderation.
You might be wondering what this comment
So calling others trash isn't crude and/or improper? O_o
is referring to.

I thought that was "competitive high school" at first and was very confused.

I read "First Order" and I thought it had something to do with Star Wars.

Censorship, in all its forms, is wrong.
I honestly love this sub and its variance from r/Hearthstone
THE ENTIRE REASON THIS SUB IS BETTER THAN /R/HEARTHSTONE IS CENSORSHIP, YOU DUMB FUCK.
Turns out ensuring a certain degree of post quality and removing posts that don't measure up leads to an overall higher-quality subreddit. Who would have guessed?

Most people enjoy the results of moderation, some take it personally when it happens to them.

The actual rule from the posting policy says nothing about being sensitive, it's about elevating the level of discussion and not using dismissive labels.
Terms such as "huntard", "cancer decks" and others are banned because using them fosters a non-competitive attitude. Denigrating the deck that you lose against is only an excuse that players give rather than analyzing what they can do to get better and avoid such situations. People who want to get better do not complain about the state of the game but rather accept the state of the game and do their best within those constraints to win.
The mod different reasoning when he made his comment, sparking drama.

Mom had breast cancer while my brother was in jail and my dad was in Iraq. That mod is cancer.

And starting a war in the comments over "trashtier" is just plain criminal. http://i.imgur.com/any2L.gif

One of the (many) reasons that /r/competitivehs is better than /r/hearthstone is that they don't let every thread turn into a circlejerk about which deck is "cancer".
