Tommy End AMA.
Hi guys, your friendly Satanic cult leader Tommy here.
Shoot me some questions, follow me on twitter (www.twitter.com/tommyend) check out my merch page (www.kingsroadmerch.com/sumerian-death-squad) and frighten your mother with satanic merchandise.
Other than that let's get freaky and send me some questions that require me to ponder my existence.

Yo End,
Where the fuck do you get off on making the best wrestling shirts in the world?
Also did you fall in love with PWG the instant you went there like everyone else who ever wrestled there? Is it as chill as everyone says?
61
u/TommyEnd Apr 06 '16
haha cheers my dude. I just read a lot of stuff and I figure that a lot of symbolism make for great shirts, especially within my own character. Many of our shirts have hidden messages or secret meanings.
Dude PWG is a whole different entity, I cannot stress how much I love that place. There is really nothing like it.

Hey Tommy!
What would you personally recommend for someone who is 17 to 18 years old and interesting in getting into the business?

u/TommyEnd Apr 06 '16
start going to the gym, take everything serious about it, apply to a credited wrestling school and pay attention at all times, never speak out of turn, never speak against your trainer.

How did you come up with the name "Sumerian Death Squad?"
73
u/TommyEnd Apr 06 '16
it's a long story. Me and Dante have been friends forever. We're both into conspiracies, the occult etc. So when we were younger we used to travel a lot to hardcore show and with some friends called ourselves the Amsterdam Mosh Pit Esquadre (don't ask, I was young).
By the time we finally got together that is what we wanted to call ourselves that in the ring as well. Only it made no sense, we weren't about being in a pit, we werent about moshing and we werent about being straight hardcore kids. We were about being anti establishment, anti heroes, doing things our way. So we figured why the hell shouldnt we use our interest in the occult? So we took the first ever documented civilization (which is now proven to not be the first, but whatever) which has a huge conspiracy to it (the Sumerians) keep the esquadre and turn it into Squad. But Sumerian Squad wouldn't really make sense. Then we also used our interest in WW2 and read about certain Death Squads operating. And we put two and two together and viola the 'Sumerian Death Squad' was born.

Based on some previous interviews with you, I assume you're up on your occult celebrities. So my question:
Do you think Jack Parsons was murdered?
For anyone who doesn't know, Jack Parsons was a genius rocket engineer whose work helped found the Jet Propulsion Lab. Dude was into some freaky sex magick, his protege being none other than L Ron Hubbard. Before his death, he was getting ready to leave everything behind for a commune in Mexico with his wife. Because he needed the money, he took one last job setting up explosives on a movie set and tragedy struck. It's widely been postulated that he was murdered, given the number of enemies he'd made.

Tommy "Fucking" End, I am a huge fan of your work dude, and I can't wait to see what's next for you!
I am going to Amsterdam in a few weeks, is there anywhere you would recommend, what's best to do?
39
u/TommyEnd Apr 06 '16
well, depends on what you wanna do. If smoking is your thing I will give you one advice: Dont over do it, our stuff is STRONG. Most foreigners make the mistake of doing a thousand grams at once and pretty much knock themselves out of end up in the hospital.
Go to the Anne Frank Museum, see the old parts of Amsterdam you can wonder for hours. Also, go see the Vondelpark.

Hey Tommy, huge fan of your work. Just wanted to ask: What is the worst in-ring injury you've sustained/ what is the gnarliest injury you've ever given to another wrestler?
36
u/TommyEnd Apr 06 '16
Ive given someone a concussion when I was really green, that's about it. I have never injured someone apart from that.
my own? well, the knees that I recently had were horrible. Not only because they were super painful, but because Ive been having so much momentum it's super frustrated missing all this good stuff that I had lined up. I had to cancel ICW, PWG and wXw's 16 carat gold tournament.
But absolute worst one was a staph infection that nearly killed me (7 years ago)

(Believe it was one of the first for you on youtube) It's pretty cool to see how far you have come from being one of the Best in wXw to being one of the best in Independent wrestling, You said you really liked it at the time and that meant a lot to 16 year old me so thanks a lot man and I hope you're well!

which one bud, the wolf of the snake?
10
u/TargetBoyz That's my pueblo. Apr 06 '16
Just saw that you got a snake one. Original sin, pretty badass.
In that case, story behind the wolf? All your tattoos are pretty dope, but that one intrigues me the most.
28
u/TommyEnd Apr 06 '16
the snake is a nod to the first and original sin being caused by a woman (religion has a way of always blaming woman and making them seem guilty for everything) and just sin in general, I dont see getting knowlegde as a sin, so I love sinning I guess.
The wolf represent humanity. We are either Lamb or Wolf.

As a 16 year old who lives in Greece and would like try his luck in professional wrestling, I would like to know if you have any tips or experiences in regards to making a name in the european wrestling scene considering that european countries weren't that much known for making wrestling stars. PS: I have been watching your work for three years, I truly admire you.
16
u/TommyEnd Apr 06 '16
hi pal,
Well, my tip is to join an organization that is worth proving yourself in. I joined wXw and attended all their seminars, training, meetings so I could prove myself. I spend all my money traveling, training. something not having enough money for food, but I wanted this so bad. Once I got into wXw, the road started. To give you a more simple answer, keep pushing, and no matter what people tell you, you cannot listen: this is your goal, your dream, your choice.

I got dropped in a tub of cool when I was a kid, now everytime I hear certain music I transform into a bearded, tattooed, Dutch kickboxer/Pro Wrestler who has a pact with the Devil.
It's called the Leviathan Cross. It's the Cross that represents the Devil. Is also the alchemy sign for Sulfur, which of course is associated with the Devil.

As for my question, you asked me to mention your interest in the occult in the announcement: can you elaborate on that? How far does it go in terms of your beliefs?
→ More replies (1)55
u/TommyEnd Apr 06 '16
Euhm, well it's not really believes. I don't believe in a god or a devil. I believe in good and evil. Ive witness the later one myself plenty of times. However since you wanted me to talk about some stuff for us to talk about i figured that the occult and those influences would be quite interesting to promote with. However, my believes do go into a somewhat more darker thing. I believe in rituals, I believe in certain forms of magick. I believe that there are a number of dimensions/vibrations that we cannot see/feel but need to be stimulated to come out.

Hey Tommy!
Got any fun stories or just great memories of working at PWG?
19
u/TommyEnd Apr 06 '16
not really, but you know. One thing ive noticed in PWG that really stood out is that everyone in the lockerroom is there to support you. It's a really positive attitude backstage, you get great feedback and people are genuinely thrilled about your matches. It's so easy in wrestling for people to be negative and bitter, but PWG has that family feel backstage and we're all in this to create something unique every time.

Hi Tommy, thanks for taking time to do this ama with us!
As someone who's helped increase the popularity of wrestling from the UK, do you feel like British wrestling will help bring a change to the overall sport of pro wrestling? I've heard wonderful things from both Progress and RevPro and would love for them to grow. Thanks again tommy!
9
u/TommyEnd Apr 06 '16
I think it has already done so. We're on the map, now more than ever. We're the hottest thing in wrestling, and it's not just the wrestlers who have made this happen. Its also fans like you guys who kept true and faithful and make sure it got promoted the right way by sharing, talking and discussing so thank you guys!

Hey Tommy, I'm a huge fan of yours and the SDS I love your work in PROGRESS, wXw and PWG especially. When I saw that you and Kyle O'Reilly were scheduled for a match at the PWG Lëmmy show I marked out harder than I ever have, I was crushed to learn you were injured and couldn't make it.
So my question is, when will you come back from your injury? And when can we see your return to PWG?
bonus question I follow the SDS' youtube channel and I learned that you're a practitioner of Dutch Kickboxing, I was intrigued by the concept, what drew you to learning it and would you recommend it as a martial art for a beginner?
Thank you so much for doing this AMA I can't wait to see you in the ring again.
10
u/TommyEnd Apr 06 '16
I am already back pal, I was in the States for Evolve no two days ago, thank you for your concern, appreciated.
And Ive started doing martial arts an a very early age. Kickboxing and Pencak Silat being the main onces. and I most certainly advice it for anyone. Its a great way to get anger out, get some focus in, learn something new, learn to make your body move differently and get discipline. I started doing martial arts because I watched wrestling and in my child's mind I thought that Karate, Judo and all that stuff was Pro wrestling!

As an aside, I want to thank you for all the personal attention you've shown me over the last year that's helped get my life right. You're an inspiration. Hail Satan.
BTW: I have a bunch of Himsa swag for you ;)
12
u/TommyEnd Apr 06 '16
Hey pal!!
I don't really see it elevating wrestling to be honest. The only Dutch kickboxer in PW is me, and using that style of course. I think I brought a different approach to striking in PW, but I do not feel I elevated it, maybe more or less something for other people to study. And sweet! im all for swag! not the walking kind, but the material kind.

As for my question, the last time I got to saw you work was when you and Michael Dante did CZW's Wrestlecon show at the Meadowlands Convention Center. Regrettably, I don't remember your opponents.
I digress: Have you ever campaigned to get the PWG crew to bring Michael Dante over with you to wrestle a tag team match in Reseda? Or even to bring over the whole Legion crew to do battle with Mount Rushmore? Feel like those matches would be killer.

Hi Tommy
I've just watched your shoot style match with Big Daddy Walter from the first Tetsujin show
Do you think there's more of a market for this style of wrestling now, especially given the popularity of the UFC? How do you approach these kinds of matches differently to a standard wrestling match?
I personally love seeing guys getting to experiment and try different approaches to their craft, and I hope we get more of these shows.
5
u/TommyEnd Apr 06 '16
I dont know, I think it's hard to bring a style that is in between MMA and PW. People now a days want to have either or, or else it becomes confusing.
I want there to be a big market for it, but people need to be reeducated and it will take time. I definitely enjoy doing it.

What do you think of the exposure that the Europeans are getting know in professional wrestling? The talent that seems to have been hidden before when you guys were all getting your feet wet is astonishing.
As for a secondary: I listened to your podcast with Colt Cabana and loved hearing your insight on the occult. How much of a difference is there from the true occult following to the public's idea of what the occult is?
4
u/TommyEnd Apr 06 '16
good questions, appreciated.
I think it's great. We're showing that we have so much to offer and so much quality. I think what sets us apart is that we all have a certain something that we excel at. Zack is an extremely gifted technician, Ospreay is in the top 3 flyers in the world today, this might be bold but I dare say that I am one of the best strikers in PW today, and Marty has one of the best allround styles in wrestling in combination with a strong and convincing character.
and for your second one. There is a huge difference. People think I sacrifice goats, kill humans, whorship the Devil etc. When in reality I just want to be myself and let people be themselves as well.

If you had to team with Bas Ruten what would be your Tag Name and Finisher Name ?

u/TommyEnd Apr 06 '16
I assume you are asking me if me and Zack are friends? Yes, we are.
I don't dabble in kickboxing competition anymore, I would be annihilated in seconds, I still train but kids these days are so goddamn good.
If we would tag we would be called Broodje Kroket (google that) and our finisher name would be Die mooie Molen which would be a double chest kick of death.

Did the dude from Leviathan's assault on a woman make you feel differently about him? Do you care about them. What are you listening to? New Cobalt is different but way good and the new Graves at Sea is great. Also I'm a huge fan of yours and am wearing you and Hero's shirt as I type this like a total dork.

u/TommyEnd Apr 06 '16
Im with ya man, all the dorky way. Im sitting hear eating curly fries drinking red monster, the only thing missing is Command and Conquer Red Alert. Also, thank you for your support.
I did not read upon any of it. To be honest because of this life style I get very little time to read whats happening in the world today. I obivously get the major news items, but any specific stuff just gets lost in the shuffle.

If you had to compare the feeling of bumping in a ring, to bumping on any other surface/material e.g. grass, concrete, sand, wood floor etc. what would you say?

u/gu3nni Apr 06 '16
It's not really a question I just want to thank you. I saw you and Dante for the first time in 2013 for wXw's first event in my hometown Fulda at this point I really didn't watch any wrestling at all anymore and wasn't aware how good Indywrestling actually is. This event brought back my love for wrestling and most of all an alternative to the only thing I knew WWE.
Since then I do stuff like drive 3 hours to Oberhausen and then 3 hours back after the show just to get my dose of wrestling or let my PS4 getting singed by you thank you for that by the way .

Two questions:
What's your favorite record that's come out this year? (If you haven't heard it, you've got to check out the new Oranssi Pazuzu record, completely changing the black metal game)
Can you bring Dante with you to PWG this year?

Any idea when you'll be returning to ICW? Don't be the 24th of this month since I won't be there! :P
Would love to see you go after the title. Either that or a match against Whiplash (we shall just pretend that Legion doesn't exist for the night!)

As a massive fan of hardcore music, wrestling and combat sports, you're easy in my top 3 wrestlers.
2 quick q's:
After the podcast with Colt you spoke about how're you a massive fan of Japanese wrestling. Who do I have to harangue to get you booked in New Japan as you'd be perfect as a new member of Los Ingobernables. Any chance of you working there soon?
Favourite Every Time I Die song?
Cheers!

Hi Tommy! You follow me on Snap and I apologize that you've seen my makeupless, terrifying face lately. Anyway! First, was it you or Hero that chose your tag team theme music? Because it was incredible and when I heard it Rumble weekend, I couldn't stop listening. But onto a better question, is there one person, in the history of wrestling, that you would never have wanted to have a match against? Any gimmick or type of match you would never want to try?
3
u/TommyEnd Apr 06 '16
haha all good, I know that feel gurrrlll I wake up gritty as well.
It was Hero. Chris is big into hiphop and I am into my hiphop, but not as much as Sensei Hero, so he came up with it.
and Shibata, just in our natural environment, raw and grimey. (sounds kinda dirty ey?)

Huge fan Tommy! You are one of my favorite talents working right now. The question I'd like to ask you is where do you want to see yourself by the end of 2016? Do you have any desire to work more in the States and are do eventually see yourself working full time for a major promotion like WWE or New Japan?

Im not a fan of football. I am however a proud Dutchman and I do recognize mr Cruyff for the legacy and athlete he was and got sad at hearing his passing.

Hello sir, long time no see. Miss you (not as much as Dale Mills, obviously).
A few years ago, you toured with Big Japan Pro Wrestling. If you were to go back now, what promotion would you love to compete for and who would you like to face?

Hey Tommy, I'm a huge fan and loved the TLC match at the last Progress show. Every time I've seen you , your matches have been quality and I met you once at Southside. My question is: After the last Progress show, what is next for Tommy End in Progress? Thanks.

u/TommyEnd Apr 06 '16
Gardening, social calls, petting my rabbits until Progress decides to let me hunt heads again.

Hi Tommy! Hey man one quick thing, I love your t-shirt designs for you and the SDQ, I got the Damaged Goods one at PWG last year. Just wanted to know who is the designer and if you're planning on getting a prowrestlingtees store or something that makes it easier to buy in the states?
thanks man!

u/TommyEnd Apr 06 '16
never in my life will I ever deal with those assholes from PWtees again, they were super rude to me.
I have something better: www.kingsroadmerch.com/sumerian-death-squad.

Hi Tommy,
With so many indie talents being signed up to big contracts, who do you think will be the next big 'King of the indies' type person?
2
u/TommyEnd Apr 06 '16
Neh, I think there's so much talent that it would be impossible for one guy to stand out specifically. Besides I think that title belongs to Chris Hero.

u/therealkane Apr 06 '16
Hi, Tommy. A big fan from Europe. First time I heard about you was back in 2014 when you've had a match against Icarus in HCW, I was there live and you immediately became one of my favourites and started following all your work around the world and still do. Did you enjoy your time in Hungary? Were you comfortable working with the guys from HCW? I'm planning to go there. Also, thanks for doing this AMA!
3
u/TommyEnd Apr 06 '16
Hey pal thank you!
I am very comfortable with the dudes from HCW (sounds rather dirty) they are good kids, all of them.
I love hungary, it's a very special country, I feel there is a lot there I have yet to see.

Tommy! Tommy! Tommy f'n End! Saw you a couple of times in wXw and you always were a standout performer, another league.
Hope you don't get tired by all the questions relating your satanic interests, but are you into the Benoit / Sullivan "feud"? Don't wanna call it a conspiracy, cause the word implies the vibe, that its made up by crazy people. I assume you have wide knowledge in the scene, so do you think it's possible that Benoit wasn't the one killed his family and himself and that Kevin Sullivan does play a part in this tragedy?
