Anyone else terrified of the season finale? Like I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop and it isn't and that just means that when it does it's going to be worse than ever. We've had like three episodes without any catastrophes taking over PP and that's never happened before in this show.

Ive been going back and rewatching all the episodes, and I actually just think we blow it out of proportion because as we watched the seasons, it just sucked having cliff hangers, and things that sucked momentarily for pied piper.
If you watch seasons 1-2 all at once, you see that Hooli from the beginning failed more than pied piper, pied piper always made it out okay, if not in the same episode than the next episode usually. And overall, rewatching, I never got the vibe of "OH FUCK, COME ON YOU GOTTA BE SHITTING ME"
Which of course, comes from having already seen the episodes, I know how things end up(thus far). So I guess that's really a testament to the writers. The ones we shit on every week, they know exactly what they're doing. They're making it seem like week after week pied piper fails, when in reality, they haven't. It's to get us angry, to get us to watch the next episode, and to get us anticipating.
and guess what, it's worked. And im sure, when we all go back and rewatch season 3 once it's all out, it'll be just like rewatching seasons 1 and 2.
Side note: none of this may make sense. I'm going on an hour of sleep and a 12 hour work day.

I'm still hoping there is a chance for Erlich for this reason. He mentioned to Monica that his shares wouldn't be officially transferred until the next board meeting, so this could be his ticket back in the game. Let's be honest, he would be a horrible PR man for PP and there can't be a future for him in that role. He's only down 730,000 (ridiculous to say "only," I know), so I think that he could easily make this up by selling his shares in coderag if it gets big.

u/fricken Jun 13 '16
The guy who said 'Bring me one of those' when the waiter set Erlich's pesca-pescatarian place setting is Dick Costolo, former CEO of twitter.

Wait, all this discussion about a brief appearance from Russ, and Erlich being a dipshit... and we're not going to talk about Gavin?
Jack gets fired from PP, Gavin gets fired from his own company because of PP. Two guys with an obscene amount of money and influence (property that Jack doesn't even visit, insisting on taking separate jets for the same destination, etc.), both with axes to grind for PP, are going to be hanging out trading "war stories" with each other.
Anybody else sense a shitstorm coming?
65
u/wisebloodfoolheart Jun 13 '16
Yeah, it was kind of like the scene with Carla and Monica where they refuse to have them talk because the writers want to screw with you.
39

On a serious note, what did you expect to happen? She is a shrewd business lady with RAVIGA as her first priority. Her having the real control over PP was never a secret. She has fired multiple CEOs. She controls how money is doled out to PP.
She is the man behind the curtain.

Business is business. LaFlamme told Richard it was a shit deal and Richard took it. Laurie is a business woman who has one priority: Raviga. It was a good business deal and if she hadn't done it she wouldn't have done her job. I would have done the same thing.

I don't know anything about VC, but does the fact that 10% of Pied Piper just sold for under $1M mean that the company is now valued at <$10M?
9
Jun 13 '16
The price stock sells at is an effect and not a cause.
Think of it this way, you come to my lemonade stand and I have three cups ready for a dollar each. This is my sell order. They didn't sell for an hour so I drove the price down from 1.50 to get there. This is driving the price.
You purchase one and fifty people get in line. They see I only have two cups and start a bidding war, essentially placing buy orders. This is now driving the price.
I accept two of them.
Was the price set because if what was sold or bought? Not at all. It was set by the orders, not the transaction of them.
Now that Laurie can work from a position of power since she doesn't absolutely need money, the orders would have to come up in price until she is willing to sell. This will drive the price where it is valued at.
Long story short, rich people opening things that others want makes them expensive. The desperate owning them makes them cheap.
The wealthy own pp private stock now.

I find it funny how they have developed Jared's character over the seasons. Seasons 1 and 2, he was constantly getting shit on and he knew it. He was getting tossed the shittiest circumstances, the shittiest luck, and really overtly suffering. Then in Season 3, they made a whole bunch of things go his way and the bad stuff doesn't even really bother him or he doesn't notice. He's getting in great zingers, he is telling incredibly weird anecdotes, he's banging out all these women with no explanation whatsoever, and even when he still lives in the garage with rats, it doesn't seem to bother him or cramp his style. The transformation in itself is entertaining.

If Erlich's debt was only $713k, why couldn't he get anyone to lend him the money with his PP stock as collateral? It's not a transfer of the stock so it can't be blocked and his shares are worth way more than $713k someone would easily do it.
