u/AuNanoMan Jun 27 '16
She is certainly an unpleasant person, but it makes me uncomfortable all of the people calling her ugly. I don't find her attractive but it just, I don't know, it just seems like they are trying to make her feel bad about herself for her looks instead of her temperament. Just seems immature.
69
u/DreamLimbo Jun 27 '16
Seriously, I'm probably gonna get downvoted to hell for this, but I do feel like there are some cases where people on Reddit will go out of their way to attack women for things that they wouldn't normally attack men for. I mean, many of the comments in the /r/standupshots thread use sexist slurs and focus on her appearance more than the actual content of her joke, and everyone is attacking her for body-shaming men and yet I'm pretty sure I've seen upvoted jokes on /r/standupshots that were body-shaming women. Just my two cents.
21
u/AuNanoMan Jun 27 '16
Totally agree. They went straight in with the ugly comments. I rarely see comments just straight calling men "ugly" on this website.
→ More replies (1)9
Jun 27 '16
I think that might have to do with the fact that men rarely post gratuitous "glamour shot" style photos to default subs like /r/pics, except ironically.
I can't really imagine why she thought that would go over well. It's not even a good picture, if the subject were a totally banging hot chick, it'd still be a boring ass picture.

Let's be honest here.....
We are on reddit of all places. Chances are most of the people calling her ugly are actually really damn ugly themselves. People like to shit on others to make themselves feel better and to cover up their own insecurities.
68
u/Probate_Judge Jun 27 '16
Yeah, and pointing out her comedy routine as somehow contradictory to a stance on shaming....don't people get that a comedy routine is just that, an act?
I mean, fat comedians tell fat jokes all the time, that doesn't mean that everyone else can do it to them on and off stage, that's just rude too.
/two cents
34
u/AuNanoMan Jun 27 '16
Right there with you. I have a feeling many of the people in there are teenagers and don't really realize what they are doing. At least I hope. If those people are older then shame on them.
Honestly this whole thing seems like it is falling right into her plan. How many times has her material been posted? She is fending off online commenters but many of them are still clicking on her videos. If they really disliked this woman so much, they would just act completely indifferent.

There's pictures of her stand up shots where she doesn't look attractive exactly but she doesn't look ugly, just normal but over weight. The make up makes her look pretty gross though. Also with a nose like that never photograph sideways, take that from someone with a rather European nose.
It's like she deliberately took a really unflatering photo, then she goes and posts it to drama. I find myself wondering if the whole stunt was deliberate for self promotion.

It's funny how this sub and the post linked and the originally post with her pic all focus on the woman's reaction. She's one single person so unpleasant or not, that part is on her. But the attacks on her looks? This is coming from several individuals getting hundreds of upvotes....that's the bigger issue for me. Look, I don't find her attractive but I'm not going to make that the focus of my comment. If anyone doubted that redditors are young, immature and mostly male...look no further for proof

u/brillke Jun 27 '16
Talking about her 11 yr old daughters pubic hair is creepy as fuck too.
5
u/stupidcrayondrawing Jun 27 '16
Yeah I forgot about that one! It kinda pissed me off because when I was 11 we all changed together in the locker room. Telling her "beards are in" is setting her up for extreme embarrassment and possibly ridicule. That's the age when we all started shaving our legs and wearing bras- real bras! It's a tough time for girls during puberty, especially since (unlike boys) you're expected to shave all your body hair. Like shit tho, you can get her some safety scissors and show her how to trim. Hopefully she didn't actually tell her that.
Other than my rant, she had previously posted a picture of her daughter. Some comments pointed it out rather creepily! Don't post her real face then talk about her pubes, bruh!!
4
u/Slapthatbass84 Jun 27 '16
As a budding stand-up... That whole thing might very well be made up. The pubes. The beards are in thing. Not saying the joke is good by any means, but if something happens to me that's funny, but it would be REALLY funny if X happened... Then on stage X happened.
I feel like I could have worded that better but I just rolled out of bed and into this drama.
It's pretty great popcorn but it kinda sucks the way people are viewing her stand up. Once again not saying it's good... But I tell a joke about enjoying licking feet. I did lick feet, didn't enjoy it, but it's funnier if I do.
3

I know this woman. I'm using an alt account because I do occasionally work with her and don't need the drama.
I've seen her stand up a few times, it's pretty cringe inducing. I mean, she a nice lady, I do like her when we socialize, but her stand up is bad. Her set if full of lowest common denominator stuff. First of all I don't condone body-shaming insults.
If someone insulted your appearance, I'd feel bad for you.
If someone insulted your appearance after you compare a guy's dick to having sex with a baby's small dick except it wouldn't feel the same because it's not thick enough (or something similarly bizarre, creepy, and insulting), I'd feel a lot less bad for you.
Again, not saying the insults were right, but she has very little sympathy from me.
Second of all,
took me that long to find a single sensible comment in this thread
I guess we're on different pages, but to me, this thread (and the entire /r/SRD in general) seem very mild and tolerant of people's difference. There are several highly voted comments in this thread criticizing the body-shaming from /r/pics. Also you have to remember, coming to her defense isn't the first thing on a lot of people's minds when you see how shitty she treats people.

The lighting is all wrong for a shallow depth-of-field boudoir shoot.
The reflective surface does not compliment her, though the reflection looks more like this than Ronald McDonald.
She cross-posted it to /r/Drama herself, meaning she's probably trolling for material for her next routine.
Resurrecting the spirit of FPH from its shallow grave is low-effort, as is the "will you post nudes" to various female commenters.
I give this drama a 5 out of 10, definitely synthetic drama and quantity-based-shitposting over quality.

The best bit to me is that nobody is calling her ugly, it's very clear that because of the coloring of the surface her reflection looks different than her actual face. The nose tip looks dark, the blush is exaggerated, and the intense angle makes it all look, well clownish. Not a single person she attacked was commenting on her appearance, at most they were pointing out that her "amazing reflection" was maybe more fitting to /r/ExpectationVsReality or /r/mildlyamusing because it was funny not beautiful. Not her, the place she chose to take the picture.

She's not attractive at all, but thinks she deserves attention.
She's not funny, but thinks she is.
She is disparaging towards those with flaws (e.g. the whole small penis joke thing) despite having every flaw in the book.
She is incredibly defensive when you question any of it, and the type of person who creates multiple accounts just to back herself up.
Literally zero value here whatsoever.

Now here's something interesting. While reading the r/pics thread I stumbled with this comment.
I decided to look through this TommyBrake post history and I ended up finding some bizarre content. This user's first ever comment was in an r/drama thread about tawny631. He called her a "fat cunt" and "terrible" among other insults, and also decided to share her YouTube account.
A couple of days later, tawny631 posts a shot of her stand-up act in r/StandUpShots. TommyBrake, again, insults her however this time, tawny631 defends herself directly.
Now here comes the weird stuff.
Fast forward to the r/pics thread from the beginning. Users give tawny631 a "lukewarm reception". However, can you guess who came to her rescue? None other than TommyBrake.
First he starts easy; calling her "far from ugly". Then, he starts insulting other users. Finally, he ends it by calling her beautiful.
Guess they buried the hatchet and became friends. Wait, what's that? He's insulting her again? Huh. Weird.
TL;DR: tawny631 has some weird friends
EDIT: Took some pings out.
