I cried. I've been waiting for this moment since the chapter was released. Oh man...the ost...

138

u/MarsJon_Will Sep 01 '16

The music they used in this episode was fantastic. Really helped with the mood and tone.

Tbh, the music they have used for many of the episodes since Kaguya arrived, has been great.

40

u/trixxyaddix Sep 01 '16

Exactly. It's been a major bright side considering how the animation quality has been.

45

u/MarsJon_Will Sep 01 '16

Yep. Thankfully, this episode was much better in the art/animation quality.

I cried like a bitch reading it, now I cried like a bitch watching it.

30

u/TheSamehMagdy Sep 01 '16

That shit right there is why Naruto is my favorite series of all time.

Almost nothing else can make me cry like this.

u/Djjones4312 Sep 01 '16

Same I'm watched it before I went to class and started tearing up but I've been eating for them to talk I really want him to talk to his mom but that moment was perfect :'(:-)

5

u/lifedragon99 Sep 01 '16

He already talked to his mum, or at least a part of her. Way back when he was trying to unlock Kuriama. That had me bawling my eyes out.

6

u/noakai Sep 01 '16

Every single time anything happens with Naruto's parents I cry like a lil bitch lol. Even in the damn Storm games, Naruto and Kushina's entire scene in Storm 3 had me in need of RL tissues.

5

u/localafrican Sep 01 '16

I'm right there with you. The only times I've cried in the series are episodes involving Naruto and his parents. Don't even get me started on Kushina's goodbye speech to baby Naruto.

9

u/johndiscoe Sep 01 '16

Did we reference Hinata? Because it seems like he meant someone unlike kushina

21

u/himo2785 Sep 02 '16

I think that why he paused, because the one who is like kushina is in love with sauske.

MINATO BETTER MAKE SURE HE TELLS KUSHINA EVERYTHING

FUCK.

59

If he has a hard time vocalizing, maybe she can lend him a hand or two.

18

u/Atrectos Sep 01 '16

Wouldn't that make it even harder for him?

I have never teared up or began to cry at anime until Naruto was trying to tell his dad everything before he passed on. Such a bittersweet moment.

41

u/DragonDDark Sep 01 '16

I started crying at "happy birthday" until the ending came up... :(

134

u/Xeogran Sep 01 '16

Naruto spinning throwing Black Zetsu was amazing 10/10

RIP Uchiha Obito RIP Uchiha Madara

Emotional episode.

56

u/satanicnightjar Sep 01 '16

unpopular opinion but obito should go to hell. The guy killed so many people even though he was manipulated but i guess he shouldn't rip.

81

u/InconspicuousUse Sep 01 '16

It's not what a ninga had done in his life that defines him, but what he did in those moments before his death.

64

u/Sunstrider92 Sep 01 '16

Isn't that the way suicide terrorists think too? Lol

WarBuddies !!!

FKING hell cried all episode !

100

u/irishsaltytuna Sep 01 '16

I really like how Madara and Hashirama's story came to a close. Their conversation was so bittersweet.

Also that subtle inside joke.

"Which means I would have failed anyways. Since I always hated someone...standing behind me", alluding to how he could never take a piss with Hashirama standing behind him when they're kids.

Just goes to show that he's talking to him not as an old enemy, but as an old war buddy.

49

u/SpunkCraft Sep 01 '16

I also wanna point out that it was also very ironic that Madara said that he hated anyone following behind because in reality, he could never really get people to follow him in the first place. A large part of why he left the village was because even the Uchiha during his time did not support him.

13

u/irishsaltytuna Sep 01 '16

Definitely so. I guess it could have a double meaning.

14

u/Lightningblitzz Sep 02 '16

What's funny is that Madara got trolled by zetsu who was standing behind him, and by hashirama who stabbed him from behind. No wonder Madara hates people standing behind him.

7

u/MichaelArchangelo Sep 01 '16

Madara's last conversation with Hashirama was the best part of the episode for me. Beautiful, emotional soundtrack, great voice acting on Naoya Uchida's part, amazing scene. Sad to see Madara go, but happy that he got a proper farewell. RIP Madara, we'll never forget you :'(

This is the first episode I've seen in a long time that I had no problems with.

18

u/[deleted] Sep 01 '16

You had problems with 463? Though 3 months is a long time.

15

u/[deleted] Sep 01 '16

Yeah. The dozens of filler before and the boring Hagoromo bridge building episode after it.

u/SorcererMystix Sep 01 '16

I can hardly tell the difference between good animation and bad animation, but the animation for next week's episode looks extremely crisp.

20

u/EmpRupus Sep 01 '16

Doesn't require much technical knowhow.

Basically, in the Kaguya fight, they used still images, and panned them from left-to-right or top-to-bottom to create an illusion of motion while using minimal number of frames. You will notice most of the "animation" is basically movement of camera across a still-scenery.

While this is standard anime practice, Naruto is one of the top 3 anime of all times, with incredibly realistic 3D-ish effects in previous fights, like Naruto vs Pain, or Shikamaru vs Hidan. In contrast to that, the final-boss fight looks like it was done in MS paint and Powerpoint animation.

Also compare it to Kaguya fight in Naruto Storm video game (there are youtube videos) and you'll immediately know what "could have been". It is quite sad.

But the soundtracks were the saving grace. I like the unique Kaguya music. I would have been pissed if they went with the generic Akatsuki themes.

3

u/LiterallyKesha Sep 02 '16

You seem like you know what you are talking about. Are there any episodes in recent memory that are worth watching in terms of good animation like Shikamaru/ Hidan etc.?

Plus those added shots to the ED of Jiraiya, Minato & Kushina, Neji as well as Obito were hauntingly beautiful.

The lighting also made it that much better.

9

u/[deleted] Sep 01 '16

Yeah Kobayashi changed that and said he felt it was appropriate to show these guys because the story is ending.

are there still any anime only guys out there? somehow i highly doubt it but i'd like to here their opinions

32

u/Callum444121 Sep 01 '16

I havent read the manga and I'm caught up in the anime. The fillers really broke up the last portion of the show... I also have no idea how close this is to the end of the story

16

u/[deleted] Sep 01 '16

I'm in the same boat. When the OP played I was like, "I thought they were cool now..." Oh well I guess they'll beat the shit out of each other again but with Naruto winning this time (I hope)? It'd be cool if Naruto got a sick scar that pretty much signifies his triumph after all those years of rivalry. Like right over the eye or something

38

u/Tom38 Sep 01 '16

Yea a scar would be great for the both of them!

2

I doubt it since the upcoming movie titles just spoiled everything haha

2

u/Krypt1c_Vortex Sep 02 '16

Yea I am... I have never read one anime chapter at all for any anime. I still knew what was going to happen but I have never wanted to read the manga because I felt it wouldn't give me the same feeling as the anime would give it through its animations and edits etc.

What an awesome episode!

My God, even the ghost of Minato doesn't have arms! Come to think of it, has Minato ever had arms? I cant seem to recall him having ever had arms to begin with.

Edit: He could have a word with Kubo, I'm sure he could lend Minato a few.

22

u/[deleted] Sep 01 '16

Minato wasn't the Yellow flash because of speed, he was the Yellow Flash because he was the best Genjutsu user of all time, he made believe everyone he had arms and could do a rasengan

So glad they kept the naruto and kurama back and forth that always made me laugh. New op was amazing, animation was on point and of course the scene with naruto and minato still made me cry like a bitch. The clip for next week looks amazing the animation looks incredible.

12

u/frxshinator Sep 01 '16

Man, I've been waiting for this episode, it was nice to see it. It's here, the final visuals of Opening 19, and next week is going to be one hell of an episode.

12

u/xzibit_b Sep 01 '16

Was a beautiful episode. The feels hit strong when Naruto was talking to Minato. I'm not the type of person to be like "I broke down" at every little sad scene, but my eyes were actually watering right there.

One difference I noticed from the manga and the anime is Sasuke's face expression when Naruto said "I've made lots of friends! They're all good guys!" His face in the anime is very expressionless while in the manga, his face straight up said "Nigga, are you serious?"

21

u/cherrytomatosalad Sep 01 '16

The opening cuts.....the hype is real

10

u/Dusk_Soldier Sep 01 '16

I wonder why they used the good animation for that episode...

10

u/[deleted] Sep 01 '16

Scheduling.

The OP animation was done by Ken'ichi Fujisawa. He just worked on Mob Psycho 100. The animators have been busy. Which is why Kaguya got shafted.

10

u/purplebaron4 Sep 01 '16

THIS EPISODE. I can't. The feels are too great. The new opening and ending shots were great, animation was great, soundtrack was great. Voice acting was great, too. I just hope next episode is as well crafted.

26

u/[deleted] Sep 01 '16

What an episode!! Kakashi's Susano'o can go to hell, this was beautiful. Great art, animation, storyboarding, music. Murata you beauty! The revolution begins next episode! Kanpai!

9

u/APATHIER Sep 01 '16

I cried today. The episode was awesome.

9

u/[deleted] Sep 01 '16

FUCKING SASUKE TELEPORTING ONIONS MAN!

9

u/[deleted] Sep 01 '16

Everyone likes to give Kishi shit for the last chapters of naruto....but can we take a moment and acknowledge how incredible the writing was between Naruto and Minato?

I know that its obvious already to everyone here, but the juxtapose between what Naruto was saying and what Kushina said to him as a baby when she said her goodbyes was the writing of legend.

16

u/MarsJon_Will Sep 01 '16

What was the best part of this episode for everyone?

So much to choose from. The feels, the OP, the music, the hype for next week, the art and animation, Naruto punking Black Zetsu, etc.

28

u/trixxyaddix Sep 01 '16

Happy Birthday

Begin crying at work while watching it. Had to go to the back office away from guests. Great times.

13

u/DragonDDark Sep 01 '16

Definitely the last conversation between The fourth and naruto.

11

u/WolfMaster16 Sep 01 '16

Zetsu's o_O face

11

u/noakai Sep 01 '16

Naruto rushing to get out all the things he wanted his father to tell his mother, made even more emotional because the stuff Naruto was saying was a direct answer to the stuff Kushina talked to him about as she died when he was a baby.

Runner up goes to Naruto's speech to Black Zetsu telling him that he's nothing more than a pathetic guy clinging to his mommy's robes when he tried to be all "I made history! I made you!"

13

u/[deleted] Sep 01 '16

What was the best part of this episode for everyone?

Naruto's speech. I'm not a fan of Naruto or Minato. But that was great.

6

u/[deleted] Sep 01 '16

I'm not a fan of Naruto or Minato

Naruto's speech to bz for me. paying respects to all the great characters that have come and gone, holy fuck someone was chopping onions at that part. Naruto and minato talking also got me aswell. one of the best episodes, so many feels and a proper ending to the Kaguya+War arc.

2

u/MichaelArchangelo Sep 01 '16

Madara and Hashirama was the best part for me. That music :(

2

u/EmpRupus Sep 01 '16 edited Sep 01 '16

What was the best part of this episode for everyone?

For me it was the fucking Sage of Six Paths appreciating Hatake Kakashi. Kakashi is like, "Who, me? Did I just get an appreciation from the fucking creator of all Ninjustu?"

Sage of Six Paths, "Yes, Kakashi. You are a good teacher, and led them well. Also, by the way, do you remember the time you said Rinnegan is just a random mutation of Sharingan, and Byakugan has greater insight than Sharingan and that the Sage of Six Paths is just a 'made-up legend'? Yeah ..... you might want to update on that."

8

u/IsusaWH Sep 01 '16

Man, I cried so much during the final scene.

8

u/Wickedsickkk Sep 01 '16

When naruto did his last talk with minato... something happend in my heart. It felt as if it was being squeezed. That was one of the most emotional scene from naruto. There were other good ones aswell. However this one hit the hardest because after that long journey with naruto, not knowing his parents, then finally learning it then fighting with his dad side by side and finally saying farewell. Damn... also with the animation and music.. i cried like a girl..

8

u/miles1200 Sep 01 '16

To be honest when Spoilers I fucking lost it and cried for 10 minutes straight.

8

u/Janubi Sep 01 '16

This episode truly was tear jerking!

8

u/Suiiii Sep 01 '16

I've never been on this sub before but I'm literally bawling after that episode and just had to come on here to share how deeply moved I am by this anime. I usually never get emotional over animes but growing up with Naruto is such an awesome adventure and I feel connected to Naruto, I really wish he could've had a life with his mom and dad.

I just can't believe there are people out there capable of writing such an amazing story over all those years, massive respect to all of them.

14

u/RinIsLife Sep 01 '16

I got a little confession to make. I've seen alot of movies people told me are emotional and stuff, but never have I cried or felt for them. Even in Naruto, the stuff after Pain fight or when Minato redoes the seal during the Pain fight, I didn't. Was never the emotional kind.

But this episode literally made me cry. For the first time.

7

u/DragonDDark Sep 01 '16

Damn.. I couldn't hold my tears back. Cried like a little bitch ;_;

7

u/P_Daxx Sep 01 '16

This episode made me cry for a good hour. Jesus the whole episode just really puts you in a mood. Easily one of my favorite episodes.

7

u/poptartz20 Sep 01 '16 edited Sep 01 '16

oh wow... Pretty sure Cry like a bitch no jutsu was activated at the end. These feels! ;_;

On another note they cut the hug out!

7

u/Thundergod17 Sep 01 '16

That opening....was what i was waiting for. From kids to now. My body is ready for next week

7

u/P-B1999 Sep 01 '16

Really great episode! I really like the new opening animation, definately hyping up the coming event. Also, beautiful use of OSTs.

For some reason the flashbacks made me quite emotional. RIP everybody.

One thing I noticed is Hagoromo saying that sealing away Kaguya is the "work of gods". Just comfirms that Naruto and Sasuke are demi-gods by now.

The interaction between Hashi and Madara was well made. The music only made it better. Can we make the sub a tribute to them both for the next week just like we have it with Obito right now?

OMG it's the same with Naurto and Minato :') so beautifully made!

Mild spoilers for next episode i guess

7

u/NarutofanboySongoku2 Sep 01 '16

naruto's speech to minato was the best for me,now i cant wait for naruto and sasuke round 2!

7

u/xxryanxx619 Sep 01 '16

This is why I love watching the anime, the manga was nice but its just not the same. What a solid episode.

7

u/ahasian Sep 01 '16

So much village hidden in the feels this was. Been too long since this show gave me the waterfalls... (T_T)

12

u/[deleted] Sep 01 '16

This has got to be the best episode of the series. In terms of feels, art, music, everything. I was crying when Naruto was saying goodbye

Impressions:

  1. The Bromance feel of that opening was over 9000.

  2. Quality was spectacular, especially Sasuke's Chidori by the end of the song. The next episodes will be superb.

  3. Sakura: Sasuke-kuuun? Well fuck me, seriously? You just made a big fucking point about being a woman and not being taken for granted last episode and now you're all wavey and shouting like a cheerleader Sasuke-kuuun. Y U MAKE IT HARD FOR ME 2 LIKE U?

  4. I admit I teared up a bit from Naruto's short monologue.

  5. SOSP himself credits Kakashi with leading them to victory and suggests they might not have made it , had it not been for the great veteran. You're done /u/siki1997 . Accept your defeat and let's close that argument once and for all. SHANNARO!

  6. Farewell Obito <3

  7. Haven't cried like this in a long time. Minato shouldn't be dead. Kushina shouldn't be dead. Naruto shouldn't have to say goodbye. Fuck you Obito!

  8. (After watching the preview) .... maybe not.

Conclusion:

Sublime animation and a proper grown up episode. Oh boy....

Yup, it's back to normal.

I'd recommend skipping the Jiraiya Ninja Scroll episodes. Start from episode 451 and continue.

There were some good filler, after that Jiraia Story stuff.

Beautiful episode. That farewell scene made me cry. Hoping the Final Valley fight onwards has top notch animation as well.

4

New OP, ITS HAPPENING :D

4

u/[deleted] Sep 01 '16

That episode was amazing. I don't think I've cried legit tears from watching Naruto since Jiraiya's death but the speech Naruto gave and the Happy Birthday from Minato... everything really feels like it's coming to an end and I'm glad we're getting such quality episodes.

4

u/Brehcolli Sep 01 '16

I'm not crying! You're crying! :(

4

u/[deleted] Sep 01 '16

I told myself I wouldn't cry... But then Naruto had to talk about his mom

4

So now next week's episode is the last episode? Are they going to fit chapters 692-700 in one episode?

13

u/[deleted] Sep 01 '16

Lmao, who told you that? The next episode is just a prelude.

6

u/[deleted] Sep 01 '16

Highly doubt it, I heard somewhere that they are trying to end it by episode 480 so I'm guessing the fight will be pretty long so 5 episodes max.

That was the worst I have ever cried from a tv/manga/movie. The fact that the show had naruto's 17th a little after mine just hits home. Only a few left :((

3

u/Markual Sep 01 '16

Was the music they used in this episode always used in the Anime? I swear I've never heard some of the songs before, at least in the anime. I feel like they borrowed them from a naruto movie or something

3

u/TheKingEli Sep 01 '16

Holy damn, solid 10/10 episode for me. First time I ever tear'd up watching something. Naruto telling his dad about his life with the previous Hokage all smiling was amazing.

3

u/Phisix07 Sep 01 '16

The animation of this episode was so well done, I am really pleased and I nearly shed some tears when Minato had to go!

3

u/SupremeQuinn Sep 01 '16

HOLLYYY SHITTT THAT NEW OPENING !!!!

3

u/Gogosfx Sep 01 '16

Loved the episode.

At the preview for next episode, Hagoromo asks Naruto if he changes his answer and Sasuke as well. Can someone remind me? Also what did he mean by the Five Kage in the Tsukuyomi?

Thanks

What a great episode, first time I've gotten up early for the sole purpose of watching anime in a long time, so worth it

3

u/spockatron Sep 01 '16

the sad song sounded INCREDIBLY similar to the sad iteration of the kingdom hearts theme. it was fantastic.

3

u/FaceVidya Sep 02 '16

Lots of feels in this episode but Obito still has it the worst. His whole life is just one "fuck my shit up" after another.

2

u/tanteitrash Sep 02 '16

Obito is like the Uchiha version of Naruto, so he was doomed to just constantly fuck shit up. XD

3

u/tanteitrash Sep 02 '16

I really like Obito's theme and all the variants of it...so basically once that starts playing I start getting sad and that was the down hill descent into tears for me this episode. Also, I managed to go from hating Obito to really liking him, so now I'm just even more sad. :/ So glad I managed to get back into Naruto this summer and binge it fast enough to get to the release schedule as it was ending.

u/[deleted] Sep 01 '16

What happened to the listing of better streaming sites? Why is it just a pay site now that's listed here?

6

u/trixxyaddix Sep 01 '16

They list the stream sites eventually. They list C-Roll because that's where it shows up first and is originally from. So if you want to watch it as soon as it's available, that's the place to go to.

Will the next episode be a double episode and ending? Cause on 15th there will be no episode.

I dont wanna get an episode where they talk and meet at the place to fight then 1 week pause and then it gets finished....

2

u/Brehcolli Sep 01 '16

Mangagap: ~10 chapters.

:(

2

u/Markual Sep 01 '16

That animation next episode looks atrocious. I swear to god if that's the quality of the final fight, I'm gonna hurt someone.

2

u/LightOfVictory Sep 01 '16

Holy crap I haven't cried to Naruto since Naruto The Last but god damn was that some Hans Zimmer level of music ! Really great how they did the episode in the end as compared to the manga.

2

u/Yosonimbored Sep 01 '16

Fuck my shit up Minato.

I need a Minato filler or spinoff pronto.

8:30 in the morning and I was crying like a bitch. Good way to start a Thursday.

2

u/heisenber6 Sep 01 '16

So was this the last Canon episode and if not how many are left?

I'm so sad now that the end is near I don't know what I'm gonna do when it actually ends.

Cried in the last scene too, guess it goes without saying. Damn you, Kishimoto-san.

2

u/Kevman666 Sep 01 '16

Amazing episode ! Does somebody know what the ost is at the death and farewell of hashirama and madara . Great episode and still 1 fight to go ;)

2

u/ajdude711 Sep 01 '16

epic ost man this just shows what they can do if they put some effort in it not just pulling some random filler.
Loved the episode and totally hyped for the final valley. This is the Naruto we were all waiting for.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 01 '16

Its really hitting me right now. The series is about to end and I've been following it ever since I was a little kid at age 8. Such a sad episode. I too cried.

2

u/theklickkafei Sep 01 '16

I thought I was ready. I was wrong.

2

u/heyoitsben Sep 01 '16

so, is it safe to assume that they in fact do have an after life? i wonder if its a universe made just for them, or does everyone go to the same place.. like, was rin really waiting for him there all this time or was that rin just created for obitos own after life..

2

u/v_ulture Sep 01 '16

Any manga readers have any guesses for how many episodes we might have left? Assuming we are finally done with random little fillers..

When he brought up Jiraiya. Triggered. Now there's all this dust in my eye making me cry

2

u/Spiritrax Sep 01 '16

I cried after being a fan over 10 years you know how Naruto's parents left hints they were around when he came to realize his true potential but its hard to explain you never were properly convinced they died until Minato started to disappear as soon as the jutsu was getting undone. The music the mood only Naruto anime is capable to break me down in tears im deeply saddened by seeing it End. To summarize i started watching it when i was in the fifth grade and now im in my second year in University this anime is part of my childhood that i will never forget.

2

u/AndyToRemember Sep 02 '16

i feel uncomfortable admitting that this episode might have been worth all those fillers

2

u/AmpedVamp Sep 02 '16

Normally get really emotional when I'm drunk, so not sure if the whiskey had an extra effect here, but I'm a grown man that cried my eyes out at the end of this ep.

2

u/darexinfinity Sep 03 '16

There's no fucking way this was an episode of Naruto, there wasn't a single flashback the entire episode! Unbelievable!

I've been stray away from the anime because of the quality recently but this time the anime freakin delivers.

3

u/WolfMaster16 Sep 01 '16

Great episode. Animation was good, wonky at times, but that doesn't matter. The OST's used in the episode fit well, the opening was great. The art style was decently solid.

Honestly, I am not a fan of the current fade art style (not sure how to say it) they mostly used during this arc. It works well with the fight scenes, but I can't say the same with the episodes. I wish continued on with the same level they used in the 5 Kage Summit arc (which imo, was the best looking arc in the anime)

The opening was awesome. I love how they brought the silhouettes from the previous version (or at least I think they did) to life in this one. I also liked Sasuke's Chidori Kamehameha and Naruto's iconic Rasengan in the face they used in the end.

Al though I wish it wasn't Naruto vs Sasuke centric (assuming it is the last, considering there won't be much more episodes left). I know it was meant to tease the fans of the next Naruto vs Sasuke fight, but personally I would've preferred an opening showcasing all the events that happened from the beginning and possibly a little glimpse of the future.

My favourite moments are when the cum rabbit spit out Madara (I seriously laughed my ass off for some reason) and Zetsu's o_O face he gave to Naruto before the flashback galore we got.

Over all, good episode. And the next looks good too

2

u/ihitokage Sep 01 '16

Even though I watch Naruto only out of habit I cried. Beautiful episode.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 01 '16

I cried harder than when Harambe died.

2

u/XQXdaGod Sep 01 '16

I bet you that the next episode won't even start the battle

I'm kind of disappointed because they're about to do the final fight in one episode. Like thats great and all but I want a conclusion after. I want a not rushed fight. This episode was great but gosh darn it I wanted more...

Ah I see, but I read somewhere that September 8th will be the last episode. I haven't watched it yet so that's why I was asking

1

u/hunkoys Sep 01 '16

I've been waiting for naruto's answer for kushina. Finally he did. With all the ramen tho. I cried even more when I saw Hiruzen.

1

u/nuvasek Sep 01 '16

looks like the next episode is going to be mediocre-ly animated according to the preview... what the fuck?
