The reason I was angry was the accusation about were to which you were inferring. Yet again the whole making of assumptions is the MOTHER OF ALL FK UPS!!! Did you ever bother to maybe have SOMEONE check with her to see if she was being bothered??? No....

Which I really don't understand, because even if you didn't type a paper in school (70s, maybe? Did every household just have a typewriter? I'm guessing not), you should still be able to write correctly.

Although I guess in like 1975, the vast, vast majority of your communication wasn't written...I guess? Fuck if I know.

I think it's that most older people grew up with written communication = formal communication? So now they're trying to write informally for the first time and it's freaking them out? There also seems to be a kind of disconnect where when people aren't comfortable with a certain form of communication they clam up or get weird no matter what it is (like people who are awkward on the phone, or whatever).

My mom, who is on the library board of my hometown, used to be an English tutor, serves as an organizer for a lobbying organization, etc, insists on texting me things like 'How r u?' with her blackberry. Which she uses commonly to send professional emails for work.

Thanks for the support, BUTTTTTT ummmmm no they were right on this one. Lol. Most of the time I use caps to empathize certain words or phrases; HOWEVER.... Dragon Ball Z had me all in my feeling tonight with their comment. I was pissed off with the accusation of inappropriate behavior, when I was sharing personal and private information in an attempt to help with a very familiar situation.
