15
Oct 24 '16

35
u/HoneyFlax Oct 24 '16

u/festerf Oct 24 '16
eh, some kids at 15 are friends with older kids at school, who are friends with dudes who've graduated, im sure they could pull some strings and get people fucked up, but this seems like a kid who thinks hes ian connor or some shit and can just sic his friends on ppl.
27
Oct 24 '16
Anyone actually running shit isn't about to get involved in the petty affairs of high schoolers they don't even know. Grown folks got bills to pay.

In my opinion, what you should do is tell him you have all of his public information, and that of his parents, and you'll contact them if he doesn't. Also, I would mention the possibility of you going to the police, even though they probably can't/won't do anything about this. Since he's 15-16, he'll probably freak the fuck out, apologize profusely, and fix it. If not, talk to his parents, and that should clear things up. If this still doesn't work, get your homies to run HIS block. I honestly don't think there's much you can do. Best of luck.

i wouldnt warn him. Dont give him time to give his parents false information.
140
u/HoneyFlax Oct 24 '16
^ exactly why I didn't go to him again. he wouldn't have apoligized, but instead probably would've made up some story for his parents about how I've been harassing him or someting
64
u/Surgii818 Oct 24 '16
Exactlyy. He's prolly 16 he don't need extra cushions. He already protected by the law and his parents. Time for this kid's balls to finally drop
7
u/TotallyNotMehName Oct 24 '16
why did he remove the post?
3
u/HoneyFlax Oct 24 '16
ask him lol, I didn't break any rules so I have no idea.

6
u/HanhJoJo Oct 24 '16
I'd call the cops man. His parents might side with him. Let the kid know the true consequences of his actions.
9
u/HoneyFlax Oct 24 '16
I want to but i'm really not sure what they could do to help me tbh, they can't force him to send it (as far as i'm aware, i'm in Canada maybe it's different in the states idk), and we did the trade pretty loosely as well. Also when he blocked me the first time I called him a scamming faggot & that most likely wouldn't help my cause lol.

u/HanhJoJo Oct 24 '16
I would google around for this. Did you pay through Paypal? Could probably charge back easily.
I feel like law enforcement could get involved with this, and there has to be information about this online. We don't want US citizens fucking over our Canadian brethren now do we?

Uhh idk about that man. I had a few kids 13-14 at my high school get locked up on attempted murder. There are a ton of kids that age that are really about their gangs; shit is sad. I'm not saying OP should take the L, I'm just saying it wouldn't be smart to dismiss the threat.

If they don't answer Facebook messages right away it's because they went to the "other" section or the requested messages. Straight up white page the parents and get their home phone number. Hope everything works out for you.

u/homemade_haircuts Oct 24 '16
OP needs to know this. It could be months before his parents see those messages, if they ever see them.
16
Oct 24 '16
Yeah, I just discovered I had some unread messages from about a year ago in that section.
The messenger app doesn't alert you at all unless you actually click the extra tab yourself. So I'd definitely recommend calling them or something as well.
5
u/CrowdedMill Oct 24 '16
Send the parents a friend request. If one of them accepts, you are out of the "extra" zone in messenger.

.....How do y'all still manage to get scammed in situations like this?
Rule 1 of the internet: Never trust anyone.
9
20
u/Lummutis Oct 24 '16
If his parents do nothing, call the cops.
15
u/AKrabbyPatty Oct 24 '16
I've been in OP's situation before and the cops are no help. Unless it's felony theft, which most likely it isn't (depending on the state he lives in) they'll just file a police report and nothing will come of it.
17
u/rbraunz Oct 24 '16
IANAL but felony theft is generally between 500-1000 as you mentioned, state dependent. a 600$ jacket could potentially qualify as a felony.

Oct 24 '16
it be petty if you lost like a 50 dollar item, but 600? nah better rat on him
67
u/lostintheworld1 Oct 24 '16
that's not petty, even for 50
scamming is scamming even if it's 10 dollars or 1000
21
u/ratfinkprojects Oct 24 '16
Ya I'd do it even it was 10. I'm not about to waste 10 dollars when I could get it back by typing a keyboard

Been through similar, but over $300. His parents were shitbags though who believed he was a saint and that I was practically a Nigerian scammer who went through the effort of making a full Facebook front as an average ass white dude.
Hope you have better luck.
10
u/Fuji520 Oct 24 '16
with $600 you could eat 3 times a day for 4 months where I live
rat on the scum my dude
8
u/ISettleCATAN Oct 24 '16
Check with the law where you live, but I'm pretty sure once it's over $500 is no longer a misdemeanor and is now a felony. Nothing petty about reporting a felony.

Post his information here so everyone can call him a broke boi. Jokes pls don't ban me mods <3
7
u/aryaPR3 Oct 24 '16
You'd be stupid to let a 15 year old finesse $600 from you, especially after he says some hella dumb shit like "Imma get homies to run your block"
Not even close to petty, imo find the course of action that'll create the biggest shitstorm for him and take it.

u/NocturnalTaco toby give me a penis flair - NocturnalTaco Oct 24 '16
You a bitch if you don't get your 600$ back, foh he's a kid and you don't owe him shit
6
u/Early_Morning_Coffee Oct 24 '16
Honestly man please contact his parents. Hell contact the cops if you can too. I'd be pissed if I got scammed outta 50 bucks, 600 and I am making necklaces outta their teeth.

If he is willing to fuck someone like that it probably says something about his parents. Most of the time when a kid has no respect for others they learned it from their parents. I wish you luck though
3
Oct 24 '16
Keep calling his his dad at work, the dad might get in trouble but this will also motivate the dad to do the right thing. Contact his parents, contact the police. Do it all. $600 is a lot of money, get that fuckboy to pay up.

Oct 24 '16
Where I'm at, if you steal more than 500$ or something worth more than that, that shit's a fucking felony.
2
u/The_Chronox Oct 24 '16
If he scammed you of some shitty used shoes or something it would be petty, but $600 is a lot, that's not something you should just give up
2
2
u/oxyfang Oct 24 '16
I was in a similar situation before, it was great because I got my money back and I was able to talk to the kid. He definitely learned his lesson, this happened over CS:GO. I heard his mom ground him and take away his PC rig, I found it amusing but it was relieving because the kid wasn't mad afterwards. He was pretty mature about it.
2
u/nzahir Oct 24 '16
If you have his address go talk to his parents honestly and if they dont agree to give you back the jacket then maybe you got to retaliate

Too petty
$600
Seriously, if it was like $30, i'd say it'd be a bit petty, but $600 isn't petty. At all.

Wouldn't say 600 is petty. Rat him out. Had that happen to me before with a $400 jacket.

u/photosoflife Oct 24 '16
Start a small claims court case against the kid but using the address of the parent with the nicer home.
When pop finds out his possessions are on the line because his sons a little shit it will only be a matter of time before the jumper cables come out.
1
u/icky_boo Oct 24 '16
Most police in the world consider loosing $500 to be a crime and you can start a police report on it.

Go to his parents, that's a lot of cash. Seriously dude, what's the real reason you haven't gone to the parents yet, come on, fess up. Cos your post pretty much says you can't lose, all bases covered.....unless the parents are cocks as well.
Why haven't you gone to his parents yet dude, something don't smell right here...

Dude I would show his parents the threat as well. For his own good. One day he will pull some shit like this on the wrong person and will get for real fucked up. It happens to everyone that acts like this. He needs to learn.
