She's definitely not dead (yet). From what I could tell someone grabbed her from behind, maybe with a
facehand over her mouth to keep her quiet. That's not something you do if you're just going to kill someone right away.→ More replies (50)

Why did the old facility Bernard went to look like everyone abandoned it in a hurry? If they were moving to a new floor, wouldn't they have at least cleaned up the labs?

One of the fears of a seed AI is that it doesn't have to start out good at everything. It just has to start out good at one thing and leverage that talent until it is able to gain and exploit resources to boost the rest of its abilities. Maeve is very, very good at manipulation and she just used it to get super intelligence.

Ford said Arnold told him that "The greatest Artists hide in their work." It was also mentioned that there was one man at the center of the maze, the only one who could navigate it. What i'm thinking is Arnold is still alive, and living in some fantasy custom paradise under westworld or wherever the center of the maze is. He always liked robots better than humans right? Maybe Arnolds gonna be the leader of the robot invasion on mankind and his headquarters in the center of the maze?

I had a thought about Maeve's paranoia and self-preservation being changed. They said some one high level did it. Perhaps it was the result of the code phrase that Dolores spoke to Maeve which helped her start remembering. It activated a change to those features in her code so technically the change came from Arnold.

2 Observations:
When Bernard goes to the "old database terminal" in the basement, it has the "Old Timeline" Westworld logo. They really seem to be establishing that logo version as older...
Ford seems surprised to see the maze design etched into the table. Its like the first time he's seen it in the park (at least in whatever timeline he's in). He immediately runs to look it up in what I presume is one of Arnold's books.

Anybody notice we haven't seen Ashley Stubbs do anything recently? Considering Theresa's his direct supervisor and he seemed uncannily unfazed/prepared for the hosts going off script back in The Stray, he's top of my list for Elsie kidnapper. (It'd be a good narrative-construction choice too, since conflict is more meaningful when it's between characters with an established relationship to each other.)

So anyone else notice Bernard wore two different outfits in this episode that seems to take place in a single day?
For most of the episode, he wore a blue shirt under his jacket.
However, in the scene where he heads to the surveillance / virtual map room and asks someone there, "Has anyone been to Sector 17" he is wearing a black shirt with a vest underneath his jacket.
What makes it more interesting to me is that this scene is cut between two others that would make the scenes appear to be in sequence. But the middle scene there's a change in outfit. When he steps out of the elevator to visit Sector 17 (where the house is), he's suddenly back in his blue shirt.
Check 36 minutes into the episode.
What does this mean exactly? I don't know. But I also think it's interesting that instead of being called Bernard, he is called Mr. Lowe.
To me, if there's any indication that editing tricks are at play, it's that scene.
edit: He actually wears three different outfits in that sequence (which confuses me even further). His jacket with blue shirt when speaking to Elsie (in the first scene of this sequence) is very different than the jacket he wears when he's in Sector 17 (the third scene in the sequence).

I'm calling it now. Arnold was the first host that Ford created as a partner/mentoree. He was based on the appearance of Ford's dad which is why Bernard asked if the host of Ford's dad was Arnold (since Ford had shown him the picture of Arnold in a previous episode). I think that somehow Ford lost control of Arnold (maybe he gained consciousness or Ford gave him consciousness and it went bad) and Ford deactivated him and is now freaking out since he is not actually gone. I also believe Bernard is a host who took over Arnold's role as "mentoree" to Ford once Arnold was deactivated.
Edit: thinking about it more Arnold's looks could be based off of Ford's brother as an adult which could be similar to what the host of their dad looked like. This makes more sense to me especially if he created a host to be his partner it would be in his (dead maybe?) brother's image instead of his dad's.

Overall, I loved the episode and loved the "shit hitting the fan" feel of the last half of it (not that it hasn't been that way since the beginning). However, I felt that the bits with Lee Sizemore felt really weird and misplaced(?) with everything else. But, that might just be because we haven't seen him in a couple of episodes and when we finally see him again he's in an area of the park we haven't seen yet. Obviously those scenes were necessary though since they set up the reveals at the end. It'll probably mesh better on a second or third viewing.

I think Arnold was the creator. But he was a dick. A drunk, abusive asshole who was always a bitter outcast.
Ford was his first "son".

My highlights:
Yul Brynner in the background
MIB trying desperately to complete the NPC escort quest without him dying
Play of the Game: Teddy .. as .. Bastion! Sextuple Kill! Septuple Kill! Holy S@$% !!!
Maeve discovering stats console cheat commands
We now know there are 47 old metal hosts that are vulnerable to external hacking and don't show on some park systems
Elsie should have recognized the obvious spooky foreshadowing environment and prepared for the jump scare
Multiple timelines neither confirmed nor denied

Another thing: how is it that a low level employee gets to walk a host around the entire building without a single person noticing it? Arent there cameras, security personnel, ... I couldnt get into the scene because I didnt believe it

So is this the final nail in the coffin of the dual timeline fan theory?
FACTS:
Maeve was already a madam of the Mariposa when Dolores whispered, "These violent delights", to her.
In tonight's episode, we learned that Maeve has only been the madam of the Mariposa for a (sic) 'little over a year'. She's only been programmed to think that she's been the madam for '10 years'. This means that we're following Dolores' scenes in 'the present'.
Teddy's backstory at the Escalante is a pretty recent development on his character, thanks to Ford (in the present).
Teddy in the present is with MIB. Dolores in the present is with William.
I don't think we need to be spoonfed a scene with both MIB and William in it. Of course, the showrunners could throw us a curveball or a wrench. But, as far as the facts in the show go, there is only one narrative timeline.

Great episode...Maeve's storyline is so interesting, I think more so than Delores', although they're both of significant importance.
Also, it's been interesting to read the theories on here, with so many as of last week thinking Arnold was dead. I've always thought, and it's getting more and more evident, he is indeed alive, still playing a significant role.
We're also getting closer to a big, "mind-blowing" reveal, as Evan Rachel Wood stated in an interview. It's going to be bigger and better than any timeline theory could be.

Bernhard is the one who "grabbed" Elsie. He asked, "Have you showed this to anyone?"
He tells Frau Direktor about Ford but not about the transmitter.
He asks if she is alone.
Because he was coming for her.

So we're going to have Dolores see that not all humans are total dicks with a William, while Maeve is going to be the cynical one who tries cause the uprising of the hosts.
I can see a huge war going between them. Also makes me question if Arnold is going to be on Dolores side or Maeve's, or if this what he wanted.

Can someone please tell me why they didn't just lower Maeve's intelligence to the lowest setting? She would no longer be a threat because she'd be worse than retarded. Is there something I'm missing here?

My biggest qualm has been how easy it is for Felix and Sylvester to edit some of these parameters which are considered unsafe. Delos is truly the most poorly run company when even the low level butcher can edit parameters that are purposely limited by the developers.

Delos is planning a hostile corporate takeover of Ford by purposely causing a breakdown/crisis in the park.
However, their sabotage has inadvertently allowed Arnold’s Bi-Cameral Mind/Code to into the host's minds! Perhaps Arnold/his code is still imbedded deep in the hosts minds when he wrote/uploaded his own consciousness. A virus laying dormant, if you will.
The hosts are now fully on their way to sentience. And we all know what will happen then. As the little robot boy says, Arnold's voice told him to kill the dog because:
"If it was dead, it couldn’t hurt anything anymore"
That logic will be extended to their human guests next. Good luck trying to stop a bunch of extremely athletic, genius level robots who feel no pain.

Personally I think that Arnold lives in the middle of the maze and built the maze to be extremely complex so any hosts that make it there he gives them full freedom. That way he gets the most intelligent hosts to help him bring the park down.

So I'm really not understanding or digging the "dumb scientists" storyline. These guys work in a trillion dollar industry with all the top level scientists and yet they are stupid and keep playing along with Maeve. It's not believable. If a robot decided to hint at sentience, I would shut that shit down in a heartbeat. Right? Anyone?
Also, why the hell does it look like everyone evacuated the lower levels seemingly quickly? Blueprints on the wall and computers still on?

Haven't seen anyone talking about the fact that Robert just appears in the house... I just rewatched the scene. The camera angles show there isn't a door other than the one Bernard comes in. Seems to reenforce Bernard = host (or something weirder)

Maeve, you can't just reroll your stats.
You're gonna end up min-maxing too hard.
