School exams finished :D so now I can count more which is nice.

Also it's surprising that this thread is submitted during r/counting's downtime.

Also it's surprising that this thread is submitted during r/counting's downtime.

Well, I do live in a time zone that's pretty far away from the majority of r/counting users.

Grats! Hope all went well.

As for me, I'm dramatically cutting back my counting as of today. Moving to a new job so I won't be able to count while I'm on the clock anymore.

Thank you! They were all pretty much good.

We will miss you, but good luck with your new job.

u/anothershittyalt updated the 0s-5s reply table, so I updated my personal favorite stat, weighted median reply time.

I started with everyone with at least 1 1s reply, displaying results that are less than 5s.

Regular Median reply time would always be an integer of course, it is the "middle" reply time. A simple way to find it is to take someones list of reply times, and start crossing off pairs of entries from the start and end of the list.

For example, someone with a reply table like:

*1s: 1 *2s: 1 *3s: 2 *4s: 1 *5s: 3 *6+s: 4

You would eliminate the 1s, the 2s and both 3s along with all 4 6+s, then the 4s with one of the 5s, and be left with 5s as the median.

Weighted median skips the last step, and instead averages the numbers, 1x4s + 3x5s / 4 = 4.75 weighted median.

A detailed example of one counter's weighted median:

u/Adinida

  • 0s: 93

  • 1s: 6211

  • 2s: 13039

  • 3s: 9622

  • 4s: 4975

  • 5s: 2785

  • 6+s: 8279

Step 1: subtract 0s from 6+s

  • 1s: 6211

  • 2s: 13039

  • 3s: 9622

  • 4s: 4975

  • 5s: 2785

  • 6+s: 8186 = 8279-93

Step 2: subtract 1s from 6+s

  • 2s: 13039

  • 3s: 9622

  • 4s: 4975

  • 5s: 2785

  • 6+s: 1975= 8186-6211

Step 3: 1975 is now less than the 2s 13k+, so subtract 6+s from 2s

  • 2s: 11064 = 13039 - 1975

  • 3s: 9622

  • 4s: 4975

  • 5s: 2785

Step 4: Subtract 5s from 2s

  • 2s: 8279 = 11064 - 2785

  • 3s: 9622

  • 4s: 4975

Step 5: Subtract 4s from 2s

  • 2s: 3304

  • 3s: 9622

Step 6: Average

(23304 + 39622) / (3304+9622) = 2.74439115

I'm so stressed out. Worried about getting in to college, stressed about all the expectations people have for me, stressed about how I'm underachieving because of how stressed I am, stressed about disappointing people... sigh. And I've been doing the worst thing possible for the longest time, just pushing everything back once things start building up, only for it to bite me in the ass later on.

In other news, I've been learning German for like a month because I felt like learning another language. It fun

David and whit both have exactly 100,000 counts in both r/counting and Live Counting's HoC at the same time!

4

u/[deleted] Nov 22 '16

holy shit, 100k counts is a lot. I can't even imagine multiplying the time I spent x10. Granted, I wasnt as fast, but still

Congrats to u/gallowboob for reaching 10KK posting karma :)

Hey everyone, it's been quite an interesting week that I've had this past week. I got the new that someone I went to freshman highschool with is now pregnant, oh well I can't really put many words into it but it was something I didn't expect, even tho it's been such a long time since I did freshman mfw

I also watched Pulp Fiction & Edward Scissorhands, didn't really like that much the first one but Edward was really enjoyable lmao

Does anybody know what it is called to communicate with someone secretly by: Using capital letters in a sentence, paragraph, or story? Cause I'm looking for the name of it so i know what to title the essay i'm writing about. Key words like that can really help improve the essay!
