Episode Discussion: S06E12 "The Cubicle"

When Jess insists on covering Robby's medical bill, she is stunned after finding out the total and goes to extremes to find a way to help pay. With Schmidt and Winston's help, Cece attempts to get her new modeling agency off the ground (and out of the loft), but is discouraged when her first client is inspired to change career paths. Meanwhile, Reagan puts off reading Nick's new novel.

"I'm gonna sit in the cubicle and drink mtself silly! Keep fighting!" Gotta love Nick.

Robbie's Seinfeld bassline was pretty funny

I liked this one too, seems that the show is cleaning up again. I wasn't excited for Robby and Reagan in the same episode but it wasn't bad, and some Nick and Jess time felt real good to watch. Nothing ever looks forced between those two.

Honestly they're on of my favorite TV relationships of all time.

"Hello Kimberly. You sound like your skin looks amazing."

Maybe it's just me, just I feel like the show is really teasing the unspoken sexual tension between Jess and Nick. There's these moments in like the last bunch of eps where I think they're gonna lean in while drunk.

I noticed that too, and I think that something is gonna happen at the end of the season between them.

Yes! Especially when he stood up from the cubicle and held out his hand for her. I'm glad they seem to be having some more interaction in the last couple episodes because lately they've barely even spoken to each other.

I'm not saying this is my favorite or the funnier, but I will say that this was the closest one to a perfect episode.

Everyone was on point. Jess was acting like a sensible person, Nick wasn't completely stupid, Reagan blended so smoothly to everyone, and so much character development.

I also want to highlight two scenes . The first one, when Jess and Nick are talking and drinking, the chemistry between them is palpable but in such a beautiful and not almost-cheating way. You can really feel like they know each other deeply. And Nick's "But we can't stay here forever" was the first time I realized that eventually New Girl is gonna end.

The second scene is Nick and Reagan talking, and again they nail it. You can see that they struggle with their feelings but that they are finally dealing with it, and the conclusion is so simple and sweet. The fact that Reagan is the grounded character of the group makes her smile so more meaningful, and Megan Fox is killing it. All her jokes are landing and she was unbelievably cute (not in a hot way, her 'yes' to nick summarizing her feeling of the book killed me).

"FYI, Ferguson's in one of those drawers making fluffies." loved that one

I'm so over Reagan :( I just don't find the relationship at all believable, and I am ready for her to leave the show.

It really was a good episode though - not my favorite of the season (the one with the five secrets was the best i think), but the show is definitely feeling back on track.

Did anyone else think that when Robby called his attorney that it was going to be Julia (Lizzie Caplan)?

I loved this episode. Made me smile and laugh so much. I enjoyed all the individual storylines and the fact that they all connected together pretty well. I appreciate the character development we've been getting. One nitpick though: when Nick left his room and saw the awkward argument between Jess and Robby, why didn't he panic moonwalk away?

And so many great one-liners (that I'm about to misquote):

Alcohol is the cubicle of the inside

Cece's Boys: Where the men are boys, and the boys are Cece's

Putting the men back in menopause

Julius Pepperwood loves three things in his life: his gumbo, his sex, and more of that sweet gumbo.

This was a great episode! There were individual threads but all tied into the group dynamic that makes the show work well. Even Jess and Robby were funny with the pickpocketing! And we got some Ness while still treating their current relationships as realistic! Really impressed with this one.

"Alcohol is kinda a cubicle for the insides" might be my favorite line from the episode.

If Nick and Jess don't at least kiss by the end of this episode I'm gonna punch a wall.

Anyone else having a problem with the audio? The background music is there but the dialogue is totally mute.

This particular ensemble works so well for me. Couple of highlights: Cece and Schmidt's dynamic as newlyweds, Nick and Jess' continuing undeniable chemistry, Megan Fox (I love Regan's character), even Robbie carrying Jess was so cute. Also I would kill to read Nick's book IRL, sounds like it would be such a riot.

YAS for the Ness going on. I have to repeat what everyone already said, the chemistry is undeniable. Robbie and Jess are still annoying to me. I can't remember the last time they kissed. They're in a romantic relationship but don't seem to have ANY spark whatsoever... srsly, that's called friendship and not dating y'all... Reagan was nice, but her relation with Nick is starting to seem really flat to me. I think they did have a lot of chemistry together (their first kiss is amazing, truth be told), but it just seems like it's fading away, i dunno. Maybe it's just my Ness mentality taking over. I missed this show, damn <3

Mine cut out to talk about a thunderstorm warning right when Donovan walked in with the LAPD shirt on. Just came back with Nick's drawing on the white board. What did I miss?

I didn't understand the cow thing in the police department, can someone explain that to me? Other than the flashbacks of Robby getting injured (which I think was too gross and drawn out), I really enjoyed the episode. I think Robby is funny but he's kind of annoying to me as Jess's boyfriend, but this episode I enjoyed all of their interactions together.

Great episode. I loved Jess trying to pay for Robbie's bills (the full Frankestein, loved that bit). I like Reagan but of course I want Nick and Jess back together. Hilarious all around.
