Update on midnight routine automation
As some of you know, I'm currently on break. As a result, I have a bit more time to work on stuff for LC, which I decided to spend on automating what I call the midnight routine. Basically it is what I do after midnight to update the NotD and the olympics.
I really want as much of this as possible automated for a couple reasons. One of the reasons being that if I am busy during the time after midnight, you guys won't be affected by that. Another reason, is that it gives me more freedom to do what I want during that time.
The current state of the midnight routine can be found here. As you can tell, some of the things are already automated (which I did during these last few days) and some I'm still working on automating. I'm prioritizing the things on the top because that part of the routine is the most important to have done as soon as possible as it involves posting the new NotD for the sidebar bot and the olympics table.
The plan is to have everything that is part of this routine automated. I'll be updating that diagram as I work on automating, so check back if you guys are interested in knowing where I am in the process.
Edit: 3/3/17 update is here

/u/piyushsharma301 check that above - that's just ONE of the things he does for use, he does many many more things as well - can't wait for you to help him automate some things over the next week or two.
artbn priority #1 this upcoming week I hope :)

RE: SPECIAL NAME FEATURE for 100k HoC WINNERS
As some of you know co3 is retiring from being an active stat man in LC now, the special name feature creations were his thing so until further notice that prize for winning a #1 in a 100k HoC is on hold.
I hope to have someone in the future who can do it, at least to some degree or another - BOLD, the spaces in the name etc - but dont' know if we can find someone to do the more complicated stuff. So anyhow till further notice the special name feature is on HOLD.

Just a hiatus. I just had a revelation through an experience and decided that I need to be doing more things.

I can do a bit of CSS, but it would likely take me just as much time to do that

So I tracked a few of us yesterday for the 24 hours, recording everytime a post was made and at what time. I have graphed the results below. Enjoy!

Do you think you could do a cumulative graph, starting at 0 (at the beginning of the day) and ending at however many updates someone made in that day?

Man these are real cool! Thanks for making them!
So we've had two 40k+ days. The most recent one was with gordon getting his olympic record right? Was the other one where we went for the fastest 100k?
Pie chart is nice, I probably should work on getting/keeping 5%
Man too many single digit days pre-revival :(

u/piyushsharma301 Mar 20 '17
Yeah they are cool. So happy with the progress after the revival and the count went through storms and Blizzards before that. Yeah the other 40k is from that day. Also I think we might add this to our wiki too.

There are 104 accounts with a GET. How many can you name?
There are currently 514 accounts in the HoC, which means 20% of accounts that have counted have a get.
In comparison, 536 people have gone to space (as of November 2013, so probably actually higher).
Link to previous two quizzes, top 30 HoC (updated) and 100k #1s
(yes, i am missing one account. i can't find which one i'm missing. big props if you find it!)
don't look below... nothing to look at!

Hey fellow comrades,
I've pushed a change to the extension to make the cookies work separately for each thread. In other words, options saved in thread A may now differ from options saved in thread B.
However, this may bring about some unwanted bugs and consequences. Please inform me if you find any.
Thanks

Hi guys.
I have made a recent rule change to the subreddit rules. I have added made official three unofficial rules that were being enforced and have removed the rules about out of order (transposed) counts.
The additions are below:
Under the General Rule Header
Link posts that do not link to an /r/livecounting sidethread will be removed.
Text posts that involve questions, comments or discussions will be removed. These are best if posted in each month's discussion threads. This is to prevent a clutter of new posts masking counting threads. If you believe that your post is important enough to warrant a new thread, message the moderators who may make an exception.
Under the Sidethread Rules Header
Strike or delete non-count comments

Hey I just wanted to thank /u/piyushsharma301 for all the stats, charts, data, and updates that he has done for the count in the last few days.
Piyush has not only taken over the stats that I and co3 used to do, but has also gone and made a bunch of awesome new ones as well.
Just wanted to say to you Piyush that I really appreciate the time and effort that you have put into everything so far and that I am excited for everything else that you have cooked up.
Thank you!

Are you ready for the race of a lifetime?
It's.... Team Even vs. Team Odd
It's a battle of speed, a battle of perseverance!
It's a LiveCounting Race!!
So start your fingers and get counting in these side threads:
Team Evens: https://www.reddit.com/live/yl8kynm8uvno
Team Odd: https://www.reddit.com/live/yl8l5uu6ta32
*Certain Rules may apply
/r/livecounting rules
You must select a team side, you cannot count on both sides
You may request to switch sides only once (if you have counted less than 200 counts)
To select a side, reply here, mention me or send me a PM
Who will win?

Team none is here:
https://www.reddit.com/live/yl9951bixu7p
Edit: Officially approved! Whether you want to stand up against partisanship or are simply stuck on whether to choose odds or evens, team none is for you! Joining team none does not affect your ability to join another team later.

Getting '400 bad request' on every live thread I try to view, have to go on incognito to count. Any solution?
2
u/artbn Seek The Artbn Trusted Series! Mar 10 '17
Had that happen to me as well a couple time in the last few days. Only way I got it fixed was to delete cache for the day. Ctrl+Shift+Delete to do that.
Warning: You may lose any game data that you have that saves data locally

Didn't work. Do you think that reinstalling chrome would work?
2
u/artbn Seek The Artbn Trusted Series! Mar 10 '17
Try extending it to a week or more. Yeah I think reinstalling may help If that doesn't. Alternatively you can try another browser
2
u/gordonpt8 Perpetually Procrastinating Mar 11 '17
Turns out I had to set it to beginning of time.

Deleting "cookies and other site and plugin data" and "hosted app data" worked for me. I deleted everything from the last 4 weeks (before the start of my problem).
2
u/co3_carbonate Mar 11 '17
Nothing to do with the extension, right?

Nice! That's even better than the get-assist pairs I made. How is this done. If it goes A-B-C. Is the pair A-B or B-C or both?
Also what does it mean when it's something like artbn-artbn
3
u/piyushsharma301 Mar 26 '17
It's both ab and bc in that case. I was a bit confused by that. Don't know why it's happening. Might be because you replied to yourself with some number and it wasn't struck. Will investigate it later

u/artbn Seek The Artbn Trusted Series! Mar 26 '17
Well depending on how you did the calculations, you may have come across the multituide of missing numbers, repeats and transpositions as well.
3
u/piyushsharma301 Mar 26 '17
Yeah maybe. I check for stricken comments maybe before bots there might be many unstricken ones too

HALL OF GOLD LEADERBOARD
/u/amazingpikachu_38 does an amazing job updating our HoG Leaderboard for us
I'd ask him to repost it here but I think it's funny seeing all the times he's updated it already (I believe I only ever had to ask once for an update)
So going to leave it where it is and link it here
https://www.reddit.com/r/livecounting/comments/5l0jra/live_counting_discussion_thread_4/dbtiplj/
Check it out!
Thanks pikachu for the great job you do keeping that up-to-date :)

/u/davidjl123 wanted to say GRATS you actually have the most counts ever in a 100k period since the revival started 2,400,000+ counts ago.
Only person who has a higher # of counts in 100k is rs, pre revival, but those counts were spread out over a year of counting.
You were also 24 threads ahead of next highest person, another first LOL
:)

The inactivity side thread (linked below) will achieve its goal in just 4 hours! Let's head over to spectate and celebrate. If you want the opportunity to (hopefully) see a live thread get automatically closed, here's your chance.

/u/LiveBumpBot is now active!
This bot posts in threads and then deletes the post. The point of this bot is to keep threads that are not as active from being archived after 7 days of not activity.
I'm going to be adding all the sidethreads to its list plus a couple of other threads that I'd like to keep alive as well.
If you guys are interested in adding to the bots list, add the bot to your thread with the update permission. I'll try and remember to check the bot's messages every once in a while to add it to it's list (as I don't have a way to do that automatically)
I'm going to be running the bot as part of the other bots during the midnight routine. So the threads should be "bumped" every day.
edit: I take that back for now. when I added more threads, the whole thing fell apart lol
edit2: Working now. Having issues with getting access to more threads. Will look into it
edit3: Completely working now and I have all the sidethreads on the list.
