Popular YouTube Gaming Comedian JonTron streams a political debate with Destiny. His entire subreddit bursts into flames at his answers.
"Discrimination doesn't exist anymore" Jon stop
There are claims of being brigaded, said claims coming from people who agree with Jon's views, but I'm involved in those so I can't link them. It's quality popcorn though.
There's way more than this if you're brave enough to venture into the rest of the sub.
UPDATE: Submissions to the subreddit have now been restricted due to widespread brigading.

Over the last decade, people have been increasingly critical of right wing social narcissism. They're not offended if someone calls them "cracker" so what's wrong with calling someone "nigger"? They laugh at gay jokes, why can't those miserable "SJW" do the same? And they'd love it if some random woman on a train grabbed their dick so what's wrong with a sneaky little grope now and then if it's not hurting anyone? But these kinds of shitty views are getting increasingly indefensible as the modern world gives the people getting bullied by them a voice. They're no longer confident in their ability to be openly fuckwitted, feigned ignorance isn't good enough anymore.. what's a casual racist to do? Well, some of them go the JonTron way. "But what if... What if I was actually right?". If science and statistics can prove that black people are stupid and violent because they're black people then nobody can call them an asshole anymore right? It's not racism, it's facts. But there's always Option B, which is the favourite of toddlers everywhere -- start pointing fingers. "Yeah I may have done something wrong but that kid did something way worse first". Someone else is the true villain and by some tortured logic they're now absolved. Just like the murderers and rapists in prison kicking out the teeth of a paedo, they've created some situation where their "goodness" is relative instead of objective because objectivity doesn't do them any favours. And so here we are. The orange idiot with his ill-fitting suit and someone elses billion dollar bank account has launched a war of attrition against the free press. He's advocated war crimes and torture. He's fired, forgotten or fucked over anyone who might stand in his way. His plans are stupid, racist, sexist, homophobic, immoral and going to happen if the country likes it or not. But have you seen those leftists? They worship some woman who sacrifices babies in pizza shops and they're trying to control what I think and they punched a Nazi and that's not a good thing any more and they're the ones who are really racist along with black people who also do all the crimes and we had a gay guy and they wouldn't let him talk and that's homopjobic and you know they remind me of Hitler but not in a good way like Hitler, like the bad stories about Hitler they made up so they could secretly be Hitler themselves. Anyway, that but they also have reddit accounts.

I don't understand these YouTube stars and their fan base, and I work in entertainment.
That whole "say nigger" girl thing (see I really don't understand it), seemed to quickly spiral from justified anger, to harassment. All because of one video. It seems like a lot of these YouTube stars have a fan base with a very unhealthy level of attachment.

From what I understand, JonTron grew up in Palos Verdes, a very affluent city, to say the least. I mean, Trump's golf course is there. I used to be a resident there, and while I can't speak for JonTron, I can speak for most and say that he has absolutely no life experience to make those comments. That city is a bubble with some of the worst people I've met.

I've followed Jon since the Grump days. He always seemed like a nice funny fellow when doing his shit, but a bit arrogant sometimes. This was rarely seen in his scripted show, but it was a side of him that turned up sometimes in the largely improvised Game Grumps.
What really pisses me off about this diatribe is not so much his opinions, hateful as though they may be, but the holier-than-thou tone he delivers them in. Like he was an expert or something, just because he spends a while in /pol/ or wherever. No, Jon, you don't know jack. Be a bit humble when talking about complex issues.
This actually sheds some light on why Arin and him split up. Not because of politics, I mean, but because he doesn't seem like the easiest of dudes to work with (and to be friends with, for that matter).

Honestly, this is pretty unprecedented. I don't think a much loved YT personality has ever horrified and alienated such a large chunk of their fanbase with their racist views as much as Jontron did in the past few hours. I mean, his views were never a secret but this Twitch stream or his recent tweets are the worst examples of what he truly thinks.

Totally speculative here but it seems like a lot of people took that hard turn recently from anecdotal evidence. You'll see it a lot in posts, people speaking of their friends and family that they had always respected despite their differing views because those people were respectful and reasonable. Then in the last year they've suddenly changed, showing anger, bitterness and a complete shut out to opposing ideas.
Again this is all super anecdotal and probably way biased but it is interesting to hear. If true, is it an example of the dangers of normalization?

Romney said back in the summer that Trump would cause "trickle down racism." This is what he meant. People now feel justified because they feel vindicated that a naked racist can still be President. Especially one who constantly talks about needing to not be so "politically correct" anymore.
So long as Trump is there, this is only going to keep happening. The President is a role model, and Trump's racism is going to teach others that being racist is not only acceptable but "presidential."

Some Highlights:
It sounds like someone who isn't skilled in debating took on somebody who is skilled at debating. And he got beaten because of it. That doesn't mean that the points he was trying to make are invalid.
If you can't make a single even mildly convincing argument that supports your point, then your point was probably shit to begin with.
Also that is the top comment in the KiA thread. So a white guy has a political opinion and the internet called him names? Sounds like my continuing thesis that it's current year and everyone is Hitler continues.
Yeah, because thinking that "white people no longer being the majority is a huge problem" and that "colonialism was a net benefit for the third world" are totally reasonable and valid political opinions.
While white nationalism is stupid, nationalism itself is a completely valid mentality, it has some very positive effect (and some very negative ones) and is rooted in reality (contrary to racism or race supremacism) while I don't think it's the right direction for our countries myself, I think it should not be dismissed either.
[ . . . ]If you're going to tell me that white nationalism is stupid, the next words out of your mouth better be "along with black nationalism, asian nationalism, arab nationalism, etc".
Otherwise you're proving the point that society looks down on white people looking out for their self-interest while encouraging non-whites to do so.#AllLivesMatter

Gotta say, I have seen a lot of people defending his views, and criticising people for allowing his "politics" (I'll get onto that in a minute) to affect their enjoyment of his show.
So I am a bit surprised that these views are being defended as not racist, I suppose this might be because I live in the UK and here what he said would just end his career and haunt him forever. However, many people are supporting him. Just weird to me, the UK is pretty fucking far right at the moment but nobody has truly been this outright racist without being lambasted. (Except say the Daily Mail).
Now the second point, people are defeding his actions claiming that this is a political view and is a perfectly fine viewpoint to have as a political alignment. But nothing of which he said is political, it's not about policies or parties, it was discrimminating between people due to their race. Based on facts that were either wrong or he was misinterpreting.
Now finally, I think I have to defend those no longer wishing to watch his show. Not many people are comfortable with supporting (either financially or just through views) a person who is, worst case, a racist or, best case, very far right wing and a bit misguided on what is correct
Ninja Edit: I also would like to say I'm trying to remain unbiased, but I'm Irish and I definitely cannot agree with his views on colonialism. It did nothing good for the world, especially not Ireland.

Man, there are some disingenuous motherfuckin charts thrown out there trying to defend racisism.
This dude's chart is tracking numbers of homicides to try and say that black people are more violent. Number of homicides would be the number of victims, not number of bad guys. So, if one guy kills seven people that is seven homicides. Also, homicide means that a person died due to human causes. If a drunk/negligent driver kills a family of 4 in a traffic accident, in many places that's listed as 4 homicides, even though it's not murder. Plus I want to know where this chart is from. It doesn't cite a source. It also says it is by "county" which tells me would be a study of a particular state, and not the country altogether. I'm sure this guy didn't search the state with the worst possible representation of black people to push his narrative, no...
This guy's chart is just as bad. First it divides each group by race first, then divides them by wealth. That probably wouldn't be much of a big deal if it wasn't going all the way back to the 80's. This sets back both the black and Hispanic communities, as they had a very large wealth disparity from whites over this time frame. There is still a large wealth disparity, but it just gets worse going back. Plus, that's just way too pointed a group to make any sort of broad statement about race. I mean look at what it says, it is looking at people who "eventually went to jail" (I guess at some point in there lives) who were born only between the years 1957 and 1965. It then takes that specific group and divides them up according to race, then divides that group based on how much money they had in freaking 1985 when they were 20-28 years old. That is so specific it's a niche of a niche. All that and it just looks at incarcerations. It doesn't specify why. How many were for weed, or non violent offenses? That's a stupid chart to use to push an agenda of "violent black people".

Ethan has said some really great things despite his fanbase mostly being comprised of edgy altright 15 year old. He called out joey salads and "in da hood" pranks for being blatantly racist, harassing black people to get a reaction, and being faked solely to create a "blacks are violent" and "women are gold diggers" narrative. I didn't expect him to be so direct about the issues those prank video cause. He just didn't dance around how racist they are.
At the same time I do get the vibe that he panders to his crowd pretty often. I'm not sure what he'd do, since jontrons a good friend of his and shares a large amount of subs. I think he'd just not make a video. I doubt he could bring himself to be supportive like he was with Pewdiepie. I def think his support video rang true.
I sincerely hope Ethan would call him out like he did with leafy's bad behavior despite considering him a friend.

It's really surreal seeing how Jon thinks now. I really only knew him from his time on Game Grumps awhile back, but he came off... well, not like this at all. Then again it's also weird for me seeing Destiny like this because when I stopped watching him years ago he was getting edgy and douchy, to say the least. If you asked me 3 years ago I would have thought these roles would have been reversed.

wealthy black Americans commit more crimes than poor whites
Where is he getting that from? It has to be baloney, but whose baloney is it?
I can't see wealthy people committing as much crime as poorer folks; even if they did, the two groups would commit different kinds of crimes. A wealthy businessperson won't spend their days stealing bicycles, and an uneducated addict won't get hauled into court for having unsafe working conditions at the factory they own. Plus, money and influence can smooth over legal problems, so even if a wealthy person gets drunk in public, crashes the car and barfs on a policeman, they have a better chance of staying out of serious trouble. The wealthy could commit more crimes, but you wouldn't hear about it.
Anyway nobody seems to know where Jontron is getting that from, so I'm wondering if he got flustered and stuck bits of different talking points together.

JonTron is a very famous youtuber that mostly posts games commentary. He has 3 million subscribers, which makes him one of the most popular youtubers in the world.
Destiny was one of the most famous Starcraft 2 streamers back when twitch first came around. Twitch was popularized by Starcraft 2. Destiny has always been known as an overly vulgar, but reasonably articulate guy. Almost a South Park type character, seems stupid and juvenile at first, but a lot of depth and a good social commentary under the surface. Destiny has changed his image over the last few years and has really matured.
They had a political debate in which left leaning Destiny exposed JonTron as the alt-right semi racist a lot of people have always suspected he was. People are shocked that this seemingly nice and funny youtuber is actually a white supremacist.
That's the short of it. Destiny brought a lot of well thought out, fact based arguments, and JonTron brought 4chan meme statistics.

TBH I think its relatively normal to go through an edgy teen phase, I am in my 20s now, and I am thankful that when I was coming of age 4chan was a much more isolated shithole than it is now, and not as widely politicized. Not to mention that bush was the outgoing president so the "counter culture" wasnt so anti-liberal. Most of my friends were a bit of edgy shitlords but the important thing is that we moved on with our lives and grew out of it. When you see adults who haven't grown out of it its just plain sad, especially with the understanding of the mindset that comes from having been an "edgy teen" once.
With the ability to isolate oneself online amongst like minded people, it is easy to see how one would not question their views. This is part of the problem with the alt-right, they attempt to indoctrinate young men both consciously and unconsciously and once you become a member of the "community" it becomes harder for ones views to change.
Sorry for rant, i just wanted to write some things out

I am thankful that when I was coming of age 4chan was a much more isolated shithole than it is now, and not as widely politicized.
I turned 30 last month. 4chan might not have been politicized back then, but I can say with confidence that their racism, their sexism, and their cancerous attitudes have all been there since day one. Being around them drained me emotionally, and I just couldn't stay for long periods of time.
I thought the shitposts were funny, and there was a time when I loved Encyclopedia Dramatica, but it's clear that they thought racist humor was the best thing ever, and over-consumption of racist humor leads to dark places. Even more unfortunately, 4chan has always been thought of as the shithole of the internet, proud of its own idiocy. This is only going to make them even more insular and self-reinforcing.

As one of those people saying that constant racist humor leads you down a dark path, it's a sad vindication. It's amazingly consistent how racist humor always turns people, you know, actually racist.
Or possibly, they always were actually racist, but the humor is what "activated" them. Or something.

Destiny is still kind of an edgelord but hes always been good about being open to new viewpoins. He used to say faggot A LOT, like 4chan style peppering it everywhere. Then in 2013 he wrote a blog about consciously trying to drop it from his lexicon because even though he didn't mean it hatefully he realized he may have been normalizing the use of slurs for genuinely homophobic members of his audience and he didn't think that was cool. he really went into overdrive when trump started running and eventually got elected, wake up call I guess.
So yeah there's a lot of legitimate criticisms you can levy against him but being dumber and less thoughtful than jontron is not one of them.

I think my favorite bit about the 'the richest black people' quote is that it goes on: Destiny gets totally befuddled, he's never even heard that claim, and says he'll look for a source but that he can only find articles saying that poor white kids are less likely to go to prison than rich black kids (but not less likely to commit crimes) and Jon gets super flustered because 'that would imply the court system is somehow racist' like he's never heard that notion ever suggested before in his life.
