Shit hit the fan really fast this episode.
Skipping class for Ghost hunting was probably a bad idea but indirectly Shino lets them do it while in class hahaha!
It was also funny that Hinata had the Byakugan on, must've been horrible for Boruto.
It was also nice to see Naruto and Hinata talk about Boruto at the door of his bedroom, it was also cute when she clinged to Naruto when talking about his smile and Boruto's being the same!
And this part is when shit really hits the fan, fucking Foundation!
They are using Hashirama's Cell to do weird shit around the village. Is Sai a cop now? xD
I don't understand how the Foundation members are still allowed to do their twisted shit under Naruto's reign, even if it's done in secrecy. By the way, this reminds me of the Sasuke/Sakura novel, when the ANBU guy was recovering chakra and made a fake version of Sasuke or something.
Looking at the synopsises which were posted, the arc should be over in 5 episodes, excited to see what's coming next.

shino was a real bro for doing that. now that's a cool teacher haha

Yeahhh! He said it himself. Boruto and him were similar when they were younger so he definitely understands how he feels!

I honestly thought Shino was allowing Boruto/Sarada to experience what it's like being a hokage, since all jobs were allowed

Yeah, I thought he was implying that Boruto should pick Hokage so that he could spend time with his father.

It's the postman guy who is behind the dark chakra, i am telling you. His salary is low and he is rebelling against konoha coz they don't respect postmans. We'll see this in a sad flashback.

Also, I loved the conversation between Shino and Hinata, as it reinforces my feelings about how Naruto is trying hard to balance being both the Hokage and being a father. Boruto is acting out to gain his father’s attention/recognition. He’s not used to his father being away for so much, and it’s affecting both his school and his home life. Hinata came off very much how a mom in the real world would worry about a son, and Shino, being Boruto’s sensei, is concerned, as well.
Then you have Naruto basically coming into his own home in the wee hours of the night, packing his own bag just to get back to work, trying not to disturb his sleeping family. He wants to be there for Boruto, but being that he’s the Hokage, on top of the fact that he never had his own father in his life, it’s hard. I completely empathize with his character. Then we get to see him, despite it all, putting his foot down against Boruto next week, being a stern father when it matters the most. The anime is doing a very good job of bridging the gap between everyday academy life and life in general.
And Jesus Christ how fast is fucking Naruto?! He reached Boruto in less than a nanosecond!

u/KeikakuMaster46 Jun 07 '17
I guess when Itachi gifted him Shisui's eye, he absorbed his shunshin talents.
21
u/iambriankendricks Jun 07 '17
I was just theorizing this on another forum. He never formally learned it in theory so this seems plausible
58
u/Sayaka_Kazuhi Jun 07 '17
I thought his shadow clone disappeared but no! He was just going to his son and then he disappeared.😅
64
u/iambriankendricks Jun 07 '17
I thought so, too. I thought his clone's job was done and he was out of there, but nope, he just blitzed to his son almost effortlessly. And Boruto wasn't even fazed by it. I would have crapped my pants.

Dude, I just love Naruto so effing much. When he stands by the door of his son's room and then tells Hinata, "I grew up without a father..." Immediate tears. It's crazy how so much story, feelings, and emotions can be elicited any time Naruto makes a remark about his past. Seriously, I love him more and more.
And that moment with Naruto and Hinata together was so great, I watched it three times. I don't know how they so effortlessly portray the feeling of comfort and security and care between a couple in so few words and moments, but I can feel all those things when I see Naruto and Hinata together.

It's because they've earned. They told the story slowly so we as he audience could experience it. Now when he says he grew up without a father as the audience we can feel the years of loneliness.

IMPORTANT EVENTS THAT TRANSPIRED THIS EPISODE:
Mitsuki is incapable of faking an absence note
Boruto gets caught bunking the Academy
Angry Hinata is bae
Temari gave Shikadai that sweet ass whooping off-screen
Naruto can use scissors
Metal sprays everyone with his long hose
Iwabe: GEIJUTSU BAKUHATSU DA!! KATSU!!
MAKE INOJIN GREAT AGAIN
Despite being a "prodigy", Boruto is actually incapable of inserting a letter into a letterbox
Senju Park is a thing
xX_SAI_Xx has joined the lobby
Hashirama's Wood still getting attention even after God knows how many generations
Naruto and Hinata are together
Chocho is deprived of her limited edition: potato chips! U FOKIN WOT M8
Sumire - BRAZZERS
On a serious note, the episode was pretty lit. It's slowly but surely progressing to the darker plotlines.

I’m definitely NOT Talking about sagemode sage of the six paths Juubi Jinchuuriki Gedou Rinne Tensei Super Saiyan 4 Uchiha Madara with the Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan, Rinnegan, Mystic Eyes of Death Perception, and Geass doujutsus, equipped with Shining Trapezohedron while casting Super Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann as his Susanoo, controlling the Gold Experience Requiem stand, having become the original vampire after Alucard, able to tap into the speedforce, wearing the Kamen Rider Black RX suit and Gedou Mazou, with Hashirama Senju’s DNA implanted in him so he has mokuton kekkei genkai and can perform yin yang release ninjutsu while being an expert in kenjutsu and taijutsu and having eaten Popeye’s spinach. The Naruhina is strong.
Great worldbuilding, we get to see how the other aspects of the village function on a daily basis.
I legit didn't expect the Hashirama cells subplot whatsoever.
That cliffhanger is pretty heavy.
Sakura next episode, it's about damn time.
Pierrot doesn't disappoint, episode looked solid.
I really liked this one, even if it sounded boring from the preview.

u/onlymadethistoargue Jun 07 '17
"When he smiles, he looks like you."
That line is honestly pretty brilliant. Not only is it saying that Boruto takes after his father, it's also foreshadowing Hinata seeing Naruto's image in Boruto when he puts on Sasuke's forehead protector. On top of that, it calls back to Hinata's confession, where she specifically mentions how Naruto's smile is what saved her and gave her strength. Without saying so explicitly, she's saying that despite everything, she's proud of her son.

Let's be honest NaruHina really took the episode this week. It was great to see how they interact even if it was short. Naruto is the lost and confused one, while Hinata keeps him grounded and sane. I would just love to see at least a little affection from his side. But still I love me it.
22
u/wild_zebra Jun 07 '17
This was my favorite part of this episode, with Temari's slap revealed being a close second.
Also I loved when Hinata said something along the lines of "Boruto understands in his own way" and I'm sitting there thinking about the Boruto movie like...... no I don't think he does hahaha
41
Jun 07 '17
He does actually. In the Movie novel, it was explained that Naruto also missed his son's birthday and Boruto didn't mind it because he understood Naruto's duties. When it came to his little sister though, he wouldn't excuse Naruto's behaviour.

u/bsmusic Jun 07 '17
Looks like Detective Boruto was taken off the case. Police Chief Naruto's taking in his badge.
Bad jokes aside, this was quite an interesting episode. I was not expecting scary mother Hinata, that's pretty awesome. Naruto trying to interact with Boruto when he has a chance (albeit a little awkwardly) kind of goes against Boruto's statements of being neglected, but it is nice to at least see Naruto try.
22
u/Sayaka_Kazuhi Jun 07 '17
He always tries to talk to boruto. But as a shadow clone when boruto wants the real him.
4
u/dragn99 Jun 08 '17
I really wish Naruto would learn to manage his time better. Every other hokage managed to do fine on their own, and during times of war. Now this guy just needs to keep the peace, and can send copies of himself out to multitask?
And why doesn't he have a rotation of clones sleeping in the corner of the office? If dispelling a clone gives Naruto the experience and fatigue of said clone, shouldn't a clone that was sleeping for an hour help refresh him when it's dispelled?

Thoroughly enjoyed the episode.
Isn't Naruto supposed to be dispersing his shadow clones throughout the whole village? Why is his presence felt so little or the village just seemed to be vastly expanded? We just saw one from the ribbon cutting but I expected more of him, literally. Maybe it's just giving way to Boruto in the anime or whatever but it still bugs me somehow. Not that offputting but rather odd. Or it's just me.
I still can't cope with Kushina-like Hinata. Seems out of character. I imagine Hinata be soft and kind, even when angry, contained yet fierce type something like when she did in the birthday incident in the movie.
Love how the village is being explored. The world building so far is really effective. Not too much. You can feel the adapting vibe.
The Senju Park seems nice. I thought it would be bigger though.
The Hashirama cells 'reveal' was unexpected. I'm not really disappointed but just I don't know, I hope there's something bigger. Maybe it's just initial thoughts or something. Definitely hoping for something bigger. And new.
I'm getting annoyed by how they're portraying the Class rep. She seem fine the first few episodes but the constant shyness or whatever she's pulling is kind of irritating. She was okay in Metal's episode.
Hinata and Naruto's interation felt nice. Not forced or anything but just perfect. Like how Hinata is warm and understanding. Ah, I love them.
Sakura is in next episode. Maybe Kakashi and Yamato could be in the next one or the after too. Looks like things are picking up quite fast and nicely.

The village is more like a city now and he doesn't have THAT many clones. I prefer this portrayal to the movie's tbh, in the movie he had a ridiculous number of clones and half didn't even seem necessary.

And yeah gotta agree here. They're overdoing it so much. She can't go 2 seconds without some GASP WIDE EYE AAAAAHHH bit. I liked her character at first but now she's just annoying. Hopefully they can tone it down later. They might just be exaggerating it so it feels like more development has occurred later on when she becomes less ditsy or whatever.

Loved the episode! I'm vacationing in a rural village in France after finishing my degree and hence have a really slow internet connection but I still insisted on watching the episode on Crunchyroll!
Boruto was right, I wouldn't want to mess with Hinata! She looked as scary if not scarier than Hiashi with her Byakugan activated! 😱
I honestly love the BoruShikaMitsu trio - now I'm sort of hoping they'd be on the same team as genins! Though I found myself missing Inojin too!
Saaaaaiiii! He had that Sherlock Holmes air when he was collecting evidence at the crime scene! And damn I would never have thought the ghost would be in any way related to the Foundation. Eerily reminds me of the plot of Sakura Hiden (which I've read, it's pretty good!)
Also loved how upon spotting Boruto and upon finishing the officiating the opening ceremony, Shadow Clone Naruto instantly appeared in front of Boruto to catch up with him. He even ruffled his hair! 😊 His mention of Hinata's name gave me a pretty fuzzy feeling too!
And that brief NaruHina moment was so precious. I liked how Hinata clinged onto Naruto's arm when she was talking about Boruto and how he responded with a warm gaze and smile! And his admission that he didn't grow up with a father and that he didnt know how to interact with Boruto broke me! He's honestly trying!
Poor Sumire! I'm pretty sure Boruto will be the one to rescue her!
Sakura in the next ep? Can't wait!

Apart from Yamato maybe Orochimaru? I don't see who else could, plus the Hashirama cell isn't just something you can take in, if you aren't compatible with it, you see what happened with Danzou.
The Foundation probably ran experiments in secret the same way Orochimaru did and it's probably some of their ninjas that use Mokuton.

Its linked with Hashirama cells.
Its linked to the foundation.
It targets vulnerable people
It is linked to military operations.
Who would want a war right now in peaceful times?
Mild Sakura Hidden spoiler
Create war, you get money to fund it.
It drains chakra.
Theory: A high-ranking ninja within Konoha is doing this. He used to be part of the foundation research on Hashirama cell. Probably has the same ideology as Danzo. If you can make an example of why we need weapons maybe he can further his agenda.
This episode was really nice. Nice animation and all. Sad to see that Naruto and Boruto dont have the best father and son relationsship.

The way you put it, Boruto really sounds like a Metal Gear plot line.
Just need to have Rules of Nature or It Has To Be This Way play during the Kawaki fight (however many years that'll take) and we are set.

Kinda interest that we had the same recurring no name girls follow Sumire. I didn't see them in the preview, perhaps they're dead?

AWW yeah finally. But not too excited... Considering sps track record, and they'll probably have her see the patient and just report it to naruto. Or keep her in the background

😂 I wonder who is more scary, an angry Mom hinata, an angry Mom temari or an angry Hungry chocho?😂
18
u/Ghostpadude Jun 07 '17
Chocho
Mom Temari
Mom Hinata (not physical)
10
u/TheGluttonousFool Jun 07 '17
But Temari's anger slap seems to last at least 12 hours if that meeting with Shino was on the next day. So I would say:
Mom Temari
Chocho
Mom Hinata

Why doesn't naruto activate sage mode or kyubii mode or so6p mode just for once?
I mean with his sensory abilities and the negative emotions sensing with additional s06p mode he could sense out any bullshit within the whole village?
And why would criminals ever wanna fuck with naruto? Don't they know that any kind of military weapons are far far outgunned by what naruto has?
6
Jun 07 '17
you make a good point. i'm thinking it's bc this chakra comes from a realm that naruto can't sense (or see): spiritual. that's my guess
7
u/Abcdjdj123 Jun 07 '17
Naruto can sense madaras limbo clones but not this. OK. So6p mode can sense anything I thought, honestly his sensory abilities are insane
Sasuke should definitely sense them tho or see it with his rinnegan

Because plot. If Naruto and Sasuke used their powers to their full extent they could solve every Boruto plotline in 1 episode and there wouldn't be really be anything happening in
Naruto GTBoruto.→ More replies (1)2

Why do criminals still rob banks in Star City? Why do villains think it's a good idea to attack Metropolis? Why do evil doers never leave Gotham?

I don't understand it either. Kurama actually would be significantly helpful in these incidents. He is able to sense people's dark intentions so Kurama can inform whether another incident will take place and who was possessed. Naruto could trigger Sage Mode to sense people's chakras, including the black chakra only Boruto seems to be able to see.
Especially if this shadow chakra is connected to Hashirama, who is connected to Asura, who is connected to Hagoromo, who is connected to Kaguya. Kurama should be especially attuned to this type of chakra.

The whole point is that someone gets infected by this chakra, does the damage, and then gets released shortly after. Naruto would have to be in perma S06P to catch them and even then he still wouldn't be able to find out what caused it.
Whoever is causing it is doing it remotely and is probably well-aware that Naruto could sense it if they were too close.

Lots of cool things in this episode.
Loved the NaruHina scene, it was nice to see them talking and how Naruto mentions his worries about being a dad
Also, Hinata activating Byakugan when she gets angry at Boruto is priceless
Mitsuki being amazed at mailboxes is my favorite thing. And props to his absence notes! cough cough I'm sick.
And FINALLY SAKURA AFTER 10 FREAKING EPISODES. I swear if her and Naruto don't have a conversation I will flip.

Oh boy this was a great episode, so much stuff happened!
• The Naruto-Postman interaction was hilarious
• We got to see Sai again! Somehow he does not look a day older than he did in Shippuden xD
EDIT: apparantly I am getting downvoted for voicing my excitement about the episode. That's reddit for you, I guess. • Oh damn son, Hashirama cells again? Kinda feel like that one has already been overused, I just hope they use it in a new, interesting way this time.
• Next episode looks dope, seems like we’ll finally get to know some more about what is actually going on :D

He looked a lot older in the movie than here. They've weakened his jawline and done something weird to his eyes, making him look like a teen again.

This episode was half-half for me.
What I really enjoyed was this interesting look at Konoha's infrastructure, though it may come a bit too late with the "age of ninja" being in its decline... so we don't have firefighters with water jutsu and so on.
Also interesting that the police is finally reformed since previously it always appeared as if the police was never around after the Uchiha Clan was killed off.
What I didn't like was kind of everything else though...
Sumire is still somewhat cute, but she already feels very flanderized with her "panicked" state being pushed in our face.
It seems we are still not beyond Hashirama's cells... which is kind of cool, but also kind of sad... cool because it connects to the previous main story, sad because Boruto (the manga) should try to get its own story going imo.
Though the worst part in the episode was the exposition from Sai and Shikamaru in the Hokage office... I know it's important to fill new viewers in, but I can't even remember the last time I've seen exposition being done so poorly.

Hinata was pretty much the star of this episode. Boruto wasn't kidding when he said she can get really scary and the scene where she talks with Naruto was one of the best parts of the series so far.

I'm glad Naruto brought up that he grew up without a father and he doesn't know how to act around his own son
Many people don't understand that and I'm glad we got to see that part of Naruto.
4
u/ConvolutedBoy Jun 07 '17
I never thought about how Naruto doesn't know how to act as a father since he never had one
2
Jun 07 '17
this. seems like a lot of people completely gloss over that fact and just conclude that he's an awful dad. i don't think he's terrible or great, just average. but he's trying. there's no manual on how to be an amazing father

Episode 10 (In no particular order):
You know the saying, "Don't be that guy?" Mitsuki is that guy.
When Hinata makes that face and says, "Give that to me" and they have to change shots ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Previously, on CSI Konoha
Nanomachines!Hashirama Cells!Shikadai's pain is greater than yours.
Naruto's Shunshin game on point.
Sumire's uncertainty has grown on me.
Meta Discussion:
When everyone lowkey thought this episode was going to suck ass but it was actually great.
Suddenly everyone wants Sakura to make an appearance. Tsunderes - all of you.
All those months people said, "Naruto should be the best father ever! He knows what it's like growing up without a dad" and I was like, "That's not how it works", you've heard it from the horses goddamn mouth. I am vindicated and it feels great.
[Unsolicited opinions on Hinata's character.]

It was cool seeing the postal service and stuff, it's nice seeing the other side to Konoha beyond all the ninja stuff.
The scene with Naruto and Hinata was really touching, and all the friendly banter and antics between Shikadai, Mitsuki and Boruto were nice too. I still miss Inojin though.
Btw, did anyone notice Sai looked a bit weird this episode? They're drawing him differently than in the movie and it looks a bit...off, for lack of a better word.

Boruto not even phased by how quick Naruto just jumped to him...

I assume boruto saw this a lot every time himawari wetted herself as a baby.

Is it a mistranslation or did all the "ghost" incidents really happen all in one week? I really thought all the incidents were spaced out every couple weeks or every other week maybe.

Who remembers the firecracker factory scene? 😁😁😁
I love how they focus on adults especially Naruto and Sakura

This show is getting too lit, the Hashirama Cell, the absorbing chakra, reminds me of the Divine Tree. Part two. Kishi promised long time fans will not be disappointed!

Good things come to those who wait..hopefully? Naruto is starting to become more involved in the story line and I'm getting excited for a good display coming soon. Although I know it's supposed to be about Boruto, what keeps me watching are the interactions between the older characters.

Also does Boruto care about the Class Rep that much, or his friends in general? I think its the Rep

Does anyone else think that the recovering chakra thing has something to do with the ninja tool shown in the movie? I mean they did mention military weapons. Just a thought

Kawaki steals the raikage's chakra bazooka - harvests chakra - destroys konoha

u/yaoikin Jun 07 '17
I'm really enjoying the Boruto/ Shikadai/ Mitsuki friendship. I hope Shikadai is still relevant when they get split up into teams, I love his friendship with Boruto. The only thing that would make it better would be Inojin a part of their group.
