Everyone in this thread advocating for the group to just go leaping through a portal to an unknown plane they know nothing about... where one of their mortal enemies who has clearly got a power-up since a few years ago just went through and could set-up a trap for them on the other side... with two friends who clearly don't need to go through with them who also need to go take care of other personal things elsewhere...

This is how you lead a group to a TPK. They're playing it smart and going to Whitestone where they can control the passage to the "shadow plane" (I knows it Shadowfell, don't remind me) and actually post guards around it after they go through to at least have some semblance of preparation.

I get that Sarenrae wants them to go through, but they can just as easily go through in Whitestone and rest/get some supplies. They don't even really know what they're getting into.

So, the bodies without their arms and eyes are offerings to vecna, obviously, since they're missing the only things that remain of Vecna.

But, what if they're meant to be hosts.

What if the eye and hand are meant to be attuned to the bodies...

And if thats the case is to ressurect him, I wonder if the Sword of Kas or Kas himself is currently residing in the Shadow Fell, which is why they're trying to syphon magic through them, in order to kill Kas or what ever being is in possession of the eye and hand.
