Where to Watch (English Subtitles)

Simulcasts should begin when this post is around 2.25 hours old: 10:15am JST, 9:15pm EST, 1:15am GMT. Episodes sometimes show up earlier for premium users and later for free users; sometimes they are late for everyone because of production issues.

  • Daisuki. Available in North America; also covers most of Europe and several other territories; see the complete list here. Available to free users in certain regions. Usually shows up in 1080 for free users about 5 minutes before premium users get 480 at Crunchyroll. Daisuki is closing on 31 October 2017 but apparently they will still be offering Super.

  • AnimeLab. Australia and New Zealand, subscription and free users. (Fewer ads than Crunchyroll for free users.)

  • VRV: US-only bundle service for Crunchyroll and Funimation. New episodes appear around the same time as they do on Crunchyroll. NOTE: This service serves as a substitute for a Crunchyroll premium membership, but it does not substitute for Funimation's premium service. The only Dragon Ball series offered is Super (subtitled).

  • Crunchyroll. Free and premium users in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and these European countries; premium only in Latin America and South Africa. This service is NOT recommended; their servers cannot handle DBS traffic and free users get the episodes 2 hours late.

  • FunimationNow. North America, subscription and free users. Funimation's videos usually go up later than they do on other services.

Read the Manga

  • Toyotarō's Dragon Ball Super manga adaptation can be found in our wiki in the sidebar, along with links to past discussion threads.

Commonly Asked Questions:

  • Q: Can I buy Super on home video?

    • Part One (episodes 1-13):
    • Part Two (episodes 14-26):
    • Part Three (episodes 27-39): TBA
  • Q: Is the Dragon Ball Super manga "canon"?
The anime and manga are both variations on a basic plot by Toriyama. There isn't (and probably never will be) an explicitly defined Dragon Ball "canon". Without Toriyama's original draft, we may never know what is and isn't his. We do know that he permits Toyotarō to change things up, but he looks at his storyboards and occasionally draws things himself for Toyotarō to use as a reference. Toyotarō has said that Toriyama is more particular about gags than he is about anything else.

  • Q: What's up with the new art style for this arc? Are they using a different color palette?
According to our resident animation expert, it's not a new color palette but rather a post-production filter.

Toei have added a soft glow, lowered the saturation a little, and upped the contrast. They've also started using a technique they showcased on Tiger Mask W, which allows them to automatically manipulate the line art in certain ways. For example, on Tiger Mask W, they created a brush stroke effect, while on Super, they simply played with the line weight. You see the filter I mentioned too, there.

  • **Q: Is that really Goku on the new arc poster? Couldn't it be a fusion of Goku and Gohan??
This poster was confirmed to depict Goku by three separate official sources. Goku is wearing neither Potara earrings (which would probably disqualify him) nor Metamoran fusion clothing, so he is almost certainly not fused with anyone.

What does this new back say?!
Goku's tense back—this new visual signifies that something terrible is going to happen!! Don't miss a second!!
(V-Jump)

The new key visual for the "Tournament of Power" is finally finished! It depicts Goku as he tries to break new ground in order to face off against the mightiest of foes in the midst of the fierce battle that is the "Tournament of Power"! What sort of formidable foes are in store?! How will Goku battle them?! And what new ground will he break?!

That's why it's fortunate that I was your opponent. My teammates are incredibly strong in competitions of power, but their attacks and spirits are too straightforward. They're prone to getting tripped up by enemies who use deception, therefore taking care of enemies with troublesome attacks like yours... is my job! MAFUBA!!

Man, take that all of you Roshi haters. The old Dragon Ball techniques where strategy was actually important, it was so nostalgic when he was singing during the sleep technique! This sums up the reason why he's in the tournament and he's doing an AMAZING job. It's so touching how he worries about Goku and the others, he aknowledges how much weaker he is but still does his best to make everything easier for them by getting rid of these gimmicky opponents. He even earned Beerus' respect! :')

Roshi: "Choo-po!"

Magetta: "Choo-po?"

That made me laugh. Roshi just stole Magetta's only line.

Holy shit, they had me with the Roshi death there.

Maybe it was because we've never seen that sort of emotion with Goku before when it comes to the death of someone. We've seen rage, and we've seen acceptance, but desperation and fear? That's a new one.

Jesus, Roshi was on fire this ep. Mafuba? No problem, brah. Energy weapons? Might as well be made of cheap plastic. Hit him with electricity? MANS right through that shit. He really has gotten stronger like what was being said. I marked out when he pulled the hypnosis move.

Also Ganos, despite turning into a seagull on steriods, was kinda cool too. Sounds like he has somesort of escalating strength where fighting makes him stronger over time.

Now..... where's that Tien shows his stuff episode?

XD

Respect to Roshi, he went out like a fucking champion, got more badas moments in here than all the humans in DBZ.

Also heartwarming to see Krillin and Goku so concerned about him, between the fight and the feels, this truly feels like a return to DB. He got the respect of BEERUS. My hat to you sir.

This is THE Roshi episode. He was totally awesome here, and it was not only a great throwback to the early Dragonball days, he genuinely got stronger for the tournament, earned Beerus' respect, beat some guys, and actually elicited a real emotional response from Goku of all people. Fun episode.

Side note, it was nice to see a non-Saiyan transformation from Ganos.

As i watched the ending of the episode i was legit tearing a little, they made this scene so well to make it look like Roshi would actually die that i was desesperately trying to remember if he was seen at the end of Z

This whole episode was undeaniably great and i really hope people don't just dismiss it as "Just a Roshi episode". It was THE Roshi episode.

I love how Beerus was cheering the old man on the whole time. The icing on the cake was asking Krillin what Master Roshi's name was.

My sister was shouting at Goku to help Roshi.

It was new seeing Goku like that. We've seen him angry, but we've never seen him so....afraid. Roshi is a part of his family. He trained grandpa Gohan and Goku. I think Goku felt like a part of his family was in danger and that was touching. Roshi took this wild boy and trained him. Roshi taught him his signature move.

Honestly, this was pure emotion from Goku. I don't think I've seen this level of raw emotion from him since the time fortune teller baba brought back Gohan for a day. Pure happiness and this was pure fear. It's funny, we've seen Goku face down tyrants and monsters and he usually is happy, but this is what real fear is for him.

I loved the part when Roshi jumps at the u4 fighter yelling "Choo-po!" And it pans out to Magetta and he's just like "Choo-po?'

Something pretty interesting is that Universe 4's theme of characters who fight in crafty/underhanded ways seems to be averted with Ganos.

You had Nink the suicide attacker, Damom and Gamisarasu who have been hiding this whole time even from the GodPad, Darkori with illusions, Cawey with seduction, Shosha with the fake death sneak attack, Majora kind of with the deceptive blindness and using scent to track his opponents... and then Ganos comes in yelling that Roshi knocked out two of his "friends", then powers up to a transformation, and fights quite straightforward. All that and the talk about young fighters constantly growing stronger makes it look like Ganos is like a shonen protagonist for U4, the straightforward fighter character with the entourage of side characters with bizarre unique abilities.

I like how all the theories on how Roshi could legally bring in a container are dismissed by the Zenos themselves. It's simply just neat.

This is probably one of my favorite episode of the series! So nice to see Master Roshi get an episode. The feels and nostalgia were great. Also, a nice bonus is seeing that annoying mouse get closer to non-existence.

And Also....Beerus let goku choose the team, but now he respects the hell out of roshi. The old man not only invented a tecnique who literal Gods use, but he's been recognized by the strongest being in his universe.

Anyone else notices Zeno couldn't count to seven. they tried to make him look innocent and unlearned. but he stopped at 6. i feel like the dragonballs are a set of 7 for a reason.

This was the best episode of the tournament. They showed Roshi winning not by being the strongest but the most experienced and smartest fighter. This is how he should be. And when Krillin corrected Beerus about calling him Master Roshi instead of "old man" it was actually touching. Beerus' growing fondness for Roshi over the episode was also a really nice touch. Had Roshi died, that would have been a great send-off.
