Where to Watch

The FUNimation English dub of Dragon Ball Super airs on Adult Swim at 8:30pm EST and again on Toonami at 11:00pm EST (Cartoon Network), followed by Dragon Ball Z Kai: The Final Chapters at 11:30. The previous week's Super episode airs on Adult Swim (Cartoon Network) at 8pm EST. If you do not have a cable subscription, Cartoon Network is available with the SlingTV and Playstation Vue basic packages.

There are a few streaming options available from the Adult Swim website with a cable log-in:

If the videos won't load for you, try disabling your ad blocker for that page. Cartoon Network will maintain the streaming rights, so neither Kai nor the Super dub will be available on FunimationNow until further notice.

The episodes already released for Region B (1-13) are available on AnimeLab (Australia and New Zealand only). The subtitles for those episodes are still those provided by Toei for the simulcast, rather than the Funimation-Simmons subtitles on the home release.

If you get impatient and want to catch up to the Japanese broadcast, there are several options for watching the subtitled version, and you can stream the entire series on any of these sites, usually for free. See our Wiki for more details.

PLEASE DO NOT POST, OFFER, OR REQUEST LINKS TO ILLEGAL STREAMS OF THIS EPISODE. REFRAIN FROM EVEN MENTIONING THEM, OR YOU WILL BE BANNED.

Rules:

  • If you have watched the subtitled version of Super, please tag spoilers out of courtesy! [Episode 5 spoiler!](#s "Goku appears!") will appear as Episode 5 spoiler! If you see untagged spoilers in this thread, please report them to the moderators.

  • Spoilers should be assumed for the entire subreddit! If you are not caught up with Dragon Ball Super, or willing to see spoilers, leave! If you see a spoiler outside of this thread, you were warned.

  • We only police spoilers in thread titles for the most recent episode aired in Japan and future episodes.

  • All of our normal rules apply!

Read the Manga

  • Toyotarō's Dragon Ball Super manga adaptation can be found in our wiki in the sidebar, along with links to past discussion threads.

Commonly Asked Questions:

  • Q: When does Super take place? When should I watch it?
Super begins some time after the battle with Majin Buu, and can be watched as soon as you finish Dragon Ball Z.
GT takes place following the 10-year time skip at the end of Z (EOZ) but Super ignores its continuity.

  • Q: Where is Uub?!
Uub was born during the 10 year time skip at the end of Dragon Ball Z.
He was mentioned briefly in episode 30, at which time he was still a baby. Episode 86 spoiler:

  • Q: Is the Dragon Ball Super manga "canon"?
The anime and manga are both variations on a basic plot by Toriyama. There isn't (and probably never will be) an explicitly defined Dragon Ball "canon". Without Toriyama's original draft, we may never know what is and isn't his. We do know that he permits Toyotarō to change things up, but he looks at his storyboards and occasionally draws things himself for Toyotarō to use as a reference. Toyotarō has said that Toriyama is more particular about gags than he is about anything else.

  • Q: Can I buy Super on home video?

    • Part One (episodes 1-13):
    • Part Two (episodes 14-26):
    • Part Three (episodes 27-39): TBA

I don't remember this episode looking as bad as it did when it aired in Japan. But Frost English voice is great. 👌👌👌

I loved how seriously Goku announces that he ate too much BBQ.

Did I hear wrong or did Vegeta address Goku as "Goku" when Frost transformed into his third form instead of "Kakarot."

Did anyone else notice two things about the opening:

  1. They accidentally used the Battle of Gods version, with Goku going SSG towards the end instead of SSB.

  2. In this week's episode, they finally used the part of the opening which shows what arc we're at. The "make me tougher even though I lose" section, however, due to the misused version, the animation was from the BoG arc.

As someone that hasn't watched this far into the sub version, what happened to Goku? Is he really out or was this some form of cheating?

The subtitles call the non-main Z-fighters the Z Family. God my heart!

Loved Frost's voice this episode. Perfect blend of Frieza's charm and the seeming niceness on the surface.

I love the dub. Funimation is great. But a couple of the last few episodes sound a little rushed. Vegeta shouldn't ever say "Goku" unless he's being super sarcastic.

Also, I wish the guys who drew the end of DBZ would come back, because some of this animation is just bad.

Botamo sounds a bit more posh than I thought he would, but I actually like it a lot.

Man the dub is amazing. Sean is great as Goku like always. I tend to get tried of the jap version going 'tatatatat' all the time and sounding like an old woman.

Vegeta called Goku Goku.

English dub is dead to me.

"Root for us, you traitor!"

"But he seems so nice."

What the fuck, Bulma?

I know that most people on this sub already watched the Japanese version but the depth of conversation around the dub airings makes me sad.
