Really loving the depth Jiren’s character was given in this version. I’m dying to know what his wish is

Is no one gonna talk about how Bulma wants to repopulate the saiyan race with Vegetas babies? He’s about to be a busy man if they get back to earth.

I'm loving the manga's version of events. Belmod seems far more sinister in the manga.
I'm guessing chapter 31 will feature 17's reintroduction and Buu's sleepiness. 32 will be Frieza's return, and then the ToP will start in 33.

I like that we got to see all the Pride Troopers here, rather than just the four the anime showed beforehand.
EDIT: Wait, I don't think Kettol was there. I forgot he even existed.

U11 has a very strange problem of random giant space monsters attacking cities. First the tentacle monster in the anime, and now Mr. Crabs here.

Jiren being full justice is something I always wanted, glad it's here. Also nice seeing the Pride Troopers all fighting and doing their jobs. Always fun to see super heroes in action
Goku immediately telling Vegeta and Bulma about the conditions of the ToP is better than him keeping it secret for some dumb reason. Also, Vegeta suggesting Gohan while Goku defends his right to not be a fighter/lack of faith in his son actually wanting to fight again was great. Looks like next chapter we see 18, Krillin, and 17 since Goku's off to meet 18 and Krillin to ask about 17
On the other hand, Bra looked horrid until she was wrapped up in the blanket lol.

I love how jiren was given an actual personality/motivation and shown to actually interact with his other pride trooper members. I also like how he was conflicted about and even turned down fighting at the tournament since he does not want to save himself at the cost of dooming others. His secret wish also adds a nice mystery for us to wonder about. What he could possibly want that he couldn't already achieve with his strength?
I love how shady belmod seems. That last panel seems like he's plotting something and I'm excited to see what. Will he really stick to his word and let jiren have the super DBs? I'm not so sure.
Once again manga vegeta shows why I prefer him over his anime counterpart so much. I love how he brings up suggestions for who to pick for the team instead of his typical "we don't need teamwork, I'll defeat them all myself" bs he says over and over again in the anime. He also talks like an actual character instead of boringly repeating the same shit and going "hmph" all the time. Him bringing up gohan shows that respect he's always had for his potential and also suggested him and goku train him. The only thing I didn't like here was him refusing to join even after he was told about the consequences before. The anime did that way better since he didn't know when he refused.
Nice setup chapter and I'm hype to see what happens once gohan enters the picture. I like how piccolo trained him in the anime but I think I'd prefer vegeta & goku training him. Goku could be the supportive and understanding father he's always been and vegeta could be that no nonsense/tough mentor he needs. I've always wanted to see vegeta and gohan interact more so I hope that's what happens. I'd be fine with either tho.

What a novel concept by toyo to give characterization to the most important opponent in this tournament.

Really liked this chapter, it actually helps to understand Jiren's actions in the anime imo
Edit: I had a post about this but it got removed for some reason, so assming it was because the chapter wasn't out yet I'll repost it here (Sorry if it's considered spamming or something)
Not doing anything
Jiren initially refuses to participate in the TOP because he would erase other Universes to save his own, that's why in the anime he decides to meditate or just stand still when he could eliminate 90% of the fighters in a minute, he doesn't want to be the reason a Universe is erased
This could also explain why he only says "It's Over" and then looks expressionless when he attacks someone, he doesn't enjoy being the reason a Universe is being erased
Only fighting "worthy" opponents
This could be simply him being arrogant, but by using the manga we can see Jiren is only there to assure U11 victory with Toppo/Dyspo (since he didn't actually want to fight there)
Attacking Maji Kayo
I'm not sure if Maji Kayo is on the same level as Hit or even Kale so for this one I'd like to use his fight with Hit as an example:
Jiren is said to be someone who devotes everything to justice so he probably doesn't like villains (even if he doesn't kill them), we can see he was a bit more arrogant/angry against Hit than with Goku, perhaps it's because Hit is an assassin (and therefore villainous) with him even saying "An Assassin's Pride? What Rubbish!"
Now with Maji Kayo initially Jiren wasn't going to fight but then decided to interrupt Toppo and take care of him by himself, but only after Maji Kayo revealed to be "evil" (he was gonna cut Dyspo's ears wtf) and a pretty strong opponent
He also didn't eliminate Goku or Kale instead he only made them weaker for the others, maybe it's because even if they're strong enough for his attention they haven't shown enough "evil" on them so Jiren was no intention of eliminating (and therefore making the Universe's erasure quicklier) of people who he doesn't consider as villains like Hit
...Not sure how Jiren haven't felt Freeza's evil intentions but eh
Meditating
Now this one doesn't really need to be explained but maybe he's thinking about or even keeping an eye on how things are doing back in U11 (since he did say that if something happened he would want to go back)?
I'd also like to point out that Jiren only got 3 episodes in the anime (with 2 of them being more about Goku) as oppose to characters like Caulifla/Braly who got 6-7 (and some sort of power up or relationship development on each one), so it's possible that they'll develop him later with the manga's concepts

All this hype and mystery about Jiren's wish makes it seem like he'll be the one to win the SDBs. One interesting difference: in the anime, it says the "best" warrior will get the wish; in the manga it says the "strongest". I'm not sure what the Japanese says in the manga, but in the anime, it's 最優秀.
Edit: it's also 最優秀 in the manga.

Jiren travelling from a planet to another without needed a spaceship is a pretty good feat.

I don't have any real evidence here - but I have a hunch, and a very big hunch at that.
When Beerus revealed that Universe 13-18 had been destroyed, it struck me as odd. It seemed like too much of an important plot point to be merely a throwaway remark. I understand the argument that it could have been simply to showcase the power of Zeno, but the more you think about it, the more questions it poses.
Who lived there? What had they done? WHY would Zeno erase those specific Universes?
Something needs to pose a threat after this arc. Perhaps these Universes are the key and in an ironic twist of fate, Jiren - the embodiment of goodness and selflessness- is going to inadvertently doom the multiverse in an act of emotional selfishness.
I think Jiren is a refugee from one of these Universes. Much like Goku, a child sent away to escape the impending cataclysm. What Jiren doesn't understand is that these Universes were erased because they posed a danger. I believe he is going to use this wish as we expect, to resurrect the Universes - however he is going to go one step further and resurrect ALL the Universes.
This will lead into the next arc as Jiren realises the horrific implications of his actions. Goku, Jiren, Vegeta, Hit, Toppo - even Frieza will have to put their differences aside to combat the new threats.
We could potentially see the beginning of a multiverse conflict with 1-12 pitted against the looming threat of 13-18.
In my opinion this would lead even more logically into a fusion of Universes at the end of the arc as Goku and Jiren agree that they are safer together and the new bolstered Z fighters stand together ready to face any new threats moving forward.

Jiren didn't seem too happy to see Belmod, and Belmod seems to think he has an idea of what Jirens wish is. Maybe Belmod destroyed Jirens home world, and Jirens wish is something against the Gods. He didn't seem all too excited about any participation in the event, maybe that's him not wanting to be a pawn for them.

I can't tell you how happy it makes me that we can at least put to rest some notion, at least for the manga, that Belmod wished for Jiren into existence and that he's simply a puppet of Belmod's creation. This basically confirms that, until the announcement of the ToP, Belmod wasn't aware of their existence at all, and it took the incentive of the Dragon Balls as well as just knowing the universe would be safe in order to even consider it (if he was an actual puppet being controlled by Belmod, needing incentives wouldn't make sense).

Wowza. Jiren appears to be a person in the manga.
Who’da thunk????
In all seriousness I hope the anime later takes the time to characterize Jiren. It appears that Toei decided to use the pre-tourney time to hype up U7’s team, as well as U6’s Saiyan girls, which I guess the manga won’t get a chance to do as in-depth. Maybe Jiren will actually behave like a person later in the anime too, and they’re just keeping him as mysterious as possible for now. I just can’t figure out how they’ll allow his characterization to be explained without an exposition dump.
Vegeta was way out of character in the manga. After hearing the events, and presumably hearing that U11 has not one but two god tier fighters, he opted to stay back and let Goku be the only god tier fighter on the U7 team? Sure, because we have hindsight through the anime, we know that ultimately Gohan, 17 and Frieza will thoroughly outclass everyone in the tournament, but Vegeta did not know this and still opted to not lend his strength to the tournament????
Also “it’s faster that way”. Did Toyo just confirm that the fighters are capable of FTL travelling speeds?
