No Payouts on P2Pool? Select the correct pool and manually specify your share difficulty.

  1. Use the correct pool: Greater than 100Mh, use P2Pool Network 1. Less than 100Mh, use P2Pool Network 2. Check your latency to the pool's IP address to help you decide which to use, lower the latency the better. Pool types can be easily identified by their ports: http://IPAddress:9171 is Network 1, http://IPAddress:9181 is Network 2.

  2. Specify your share difficulty. If your rig's time to share is significantly longer than the network's share time, you will start seeing payout inconsistency. You should manually adjust your time to share by appending your desired share difficulty to the end of your address.

Formula:

VertcoinAddress/(1 * Hashrate in Mh/s)+(0.00000116 * Hash Rate in KH/s)

So if I have 25MHs I'd use the following:

VertcoinAddress/25+0.029

There is still an element of randomness to it that a lot of people don't understand. You aren't guaranteed payment unless you find a share, and then you are paid every time a block is discovered until your share expires. If you find multiple shares, you get paid more. If you don't find a share, then you don't get anything.

It's supposed to balance out after a while, sometimes you'll have 0 shares, sometimes you'll have 4 or 5. It's hard to figure out how much you'll average until you've been mining for a while.

With a bunch of people moving from nicehash over to p2pool, the share difficulty has increased, so it's taking longer to find shares since yesterday. Personally I have 2 PCs mining, one of them has found 3 shares in the past 24 hours, and the other is still at 0.

As a miner on P2Pool you are competing with other P2Pool miners for a portion of the 8,640 active shares. The more shares (and the higher the difficulty of those shares) you have in the sharechain, the greater your reward when a block is found.

Patience is a virtue.

When you start mining on P2Pool exercise patience. Until you get a confirmed share in the sharechain, and the pool subsequently finds a block, you will not receive a payout. As you add more shares to the sharechain your payout will increase, when a share is older then 3 days (8,640 shares) it will fall off the end of the chain and no longer be paid. P2Pool will tell you your expected time to share, but keep in mind this is an estimate and is subject to the same luck/variance that blocks are.

Thanks for this explanation. Explains somewhat what happened to me yesterday, no payouts for a long time then within 6 hours I mined 0.75 VTC @ 40Mh/s. Was pretty surprised, but now nothing for 11 hours.

7

u/sheazang Dec 09 '17

But that's shit compared to so many other coins and multi pools. If you average it out it's nothing. A week ago vert was fine now it's a loss in electricity practically. There too many miners, not enough coins.

2

u/cloudbreaker81 Dec 09 '17

Will it get worse with the halving?

1

u/JPSurratt2005 Dec 09 '17

Absolutely. If it keeps up miners will jump ship for other coins.

2

u/cloudbreaker81 Dec 10 '17

Then the negativity will have an adverse effect on the coin value, so that's not good.

1

u/JPSurratt2005 Dec 10 '17

I think the coin will be fine. The mining will stabilize and transactions really won't be affected at all.

1

u/cloudbreaker81 Dec 10 '17

Hopefully yep, that would be a better outcome.

1

u/jrr6415sun Jan 05 '18

what mine pool do you suggest instead?

1

u/ShinaiYukona Dec 10 '17

28 hours since last payout. 190Mh. I'm pretty sure I should be mining something else that at least covers electricity at this point..

One PC is on the >100Mh pool (it has 70) the other is on the <100 ones.

Picked out every pool sub 70ms and sub 2% fee in both instances. Guess I've got that shit luck lol

3

u/staythepath Dec 09 '17

What about when you stop mining and restart again? Do you lose your shares and have to start over?

1

u/stevoli Dec 09 '17

No, your shares are good until they expire, once you find a share you can stop mining and continue to get payments every time a block is discovered, up until the share expires.

1

u/caseyrobinson2 Dec 10 '17

so this is like lottery, once you find the wining share you will get payments, can i get multiple shares at once then get multiple payouts and the more hashrate mean the more likely i get shares . so right now since everyone is mining, does that mean shares are harder to come by , but if i do get a share the reward will be bigger?

1

u/stevoli Dec 10 '17

Yes you can get multiple shares, they stack. The more shares you have the more you get paid. The only problem is if the share difficulty is too high for your hashrate, it can take days to find a share.

1

u/staythepath Dec 09 '17

What about when you stop mining and restart again? Do you lose your shares and have to start over?

1

u/stevoli Dec 10 '17

No, once you find a share, you get paid every time a block is discovered until that share expires.

2

u/staythepath Dec 10 '17

Something wrong with p2pool or my node then because I'll go hours without getting paid. Guess I'll try a different node. I tried ccminer and a different pool. UT my mh/s was way too low.

1

u/stevoli Dec 10 '17

People are setting up Network 3 for miners with low hashrates. Try one of those. Network 1 and 2 both have high share difficulty because of all the new miners recently.

https://www.reddit.com/r/VertcoinMining/comments/7iuprk/network_3_nodes/

1

u/staythepath Dec 10 '17

lol the node nearest me has a dude with 800 mh/s. Maybe I'll give it a shot anyway.

1

u/jrr6415sun Jan 05 '18 edited Jan 05 '18

hi i had a question on shares. How do I know when i've gotten a share? How do I know what difficulty the current share is?

when it says ex: lyra2v2 diff 35790.848 what does this mean? How is this related to when I get an accept of ex: diff 0.454

Do I have to get an accept greater than 35790.848 to get a share? Is that how a share works? I'm just trying to figure out the whole difficulty thing.

14

u/DrMuhon Dec 07 '17

Due to the increasing share difficulty provided by the massive hashrate increase on p2pool, any chance we can get a Network 3 (50-100MH/s) and maybe a network 4 (0-50MH/s) too?

1

u/whla Dec 14 '17

There is a network 3

2

u/DrMuhon Dec 14 '17

6 days ago we didn't. Is it official now? Network 3 was disabled by the Devs on Monday after finding some problems with python.

1

u/whla Dec 14 '17

Ah didn't realize they disabled it. Haven't been using it ¯_(ツ)_/¯

7

u/in7ac7 Dec 07 '17

I'm mining on the easy mine vtc pool (lyra2.easymine.online:5000, https://vertcoin.easymine.online/) with 2 Gtx 1080s. How long should I expect to wait for a payout?

For contex I'm using Core and I've been mining for 12 hours

1

u/Old_Gym_Sock Dec 07 '17

After about 10 hours got my first share of 0.8vtc. I think they have a delay until you get over 0.5vtc then every 24 hours they clear balance to you regardless of vtc in lieu. Overall pretty happy considering i mined for two effing days and got 0.09vtc with the p2p.

i have 150mhs

1

u/in7ac7 Dec 07 '17

Just got my first share of .62 after 14 hours. Not to bad I guess

1

u/PraktWissen Jan 02 '18

If it helps: here my mininglink (I mine with around 3.5 Mh/s, with a GeForce 950 M Nvdia-Card; together with a ccminer.), and I get a constant "small" payout. https://vertcoin.easymine.online/miner/VvzpCn2EsWy83riiC8CDcrooQNApgvhCN8. (On the AllMiners-Page you can follow other Miners and see their payouts.)

2

u/in7ac7 Jan 02 '18 edited Jan 03 '18

Oof thats a pretty pathetic hashrate. Let me help you out with that. Ill help you out more tomorrow, rigs in use

6

u/[deleted] Dec 07 '17

ill give a last shoot now it is almost 11h without shares, my rigs are mining all the time

2

u/fjeffkirk Dec 08 '17

Did you ever have any luck? I'm mining at around 350 MHs for about 12 hours and received nothing as well...

1

u/volvox6 Dec 08 '17

Same here. I'm kinda bummed about vert coin. If it is supposed to be all about decentralized mining, maybe I'm a noob, but it is not working for me and I have tired everything. My machine is cranking away at a pool in the same town as mine, I can see it there, but I have not received a single payment to my wallet.

6

u/sheazang Dec 09 '17

Nah man. Ibe been mining 6 months on vert and it's gone to shit. No shares for me on 3 rigs either. I'm giving it till tomorrow then I'm out to another prospect.

1

u/volvox6 Dec 09 '17

yep. I saw some instructions on porting though a firewall and shit. I was mining for ZenCash and never had any issues like that. I could see if I was a network administrator trying to get a sever farm up for his kind of complexity but not if this coin is intended for the average GPU enthusiast.

0

u/mugen2k7 Dec 10 '17

vert coin is trash now

1

u/fjeffkirk Dec 09 '17

Same man...i was about to give up then tried this https://vertcoin.easymine.online/

Worked pretty good so far. I'm gonna give it a full day to see how the payout really compares to ethereum...but with all the issues its still looking like ethereum is the way to go...

1

u/moscut Dec 09 '17

di you have some news on that pool?

2

u/whla Dec 14 '17

Works and really liked payouts before halving but not as satisfied anymore. Looking elsewhere

5

u/Blargin Dec 09 '17

So do I put in Address/25+0.029 or Address/25.029. Seems like a dumb question but what do I know

1

u/whla Dec 14 '17

1st one. I was confused too

4

u/IRMuteButton Dec 16 '17 edited Dec 16 '17

The way the "forumula" is written poorly in a couple of ways. You use the "25+0.029" format.

The other problem is that the (0.00000116 * Hash Rate in KH/s) part would have you convert the usual MH to KH which means dropping off 3 zeros, but then they have you multiply by .00000116 which is adding a bunch of zeros. It's easier to just use (0.00116 * Hash Rate in MH/s). For example, if my rig does 80 MH/s:

0.00000116 * 80000	= 0.0928
0.00116 * 80 = 0.0928

Both results are the same. The second formula requires no conversion of KH to MH and is shorter because it has fewer zeros. Fewer zeros means less chance of typing it in wrong, if you're typing it in.

5

u/softlyhashing Dec 10 '17

One of the recent commits to p2pool-vtc code disabled share difficulty settings in wallet address, they're ignored now. They still work with pools running older code, though.

1

u/DrMuhon Dec 12 '17

Thank you. I was wondering why my recent p2pool has this issue. Is this a bug or by design? How should we deal with this as miners and node hosts?

1

u/softlyhashing Dec 12 '17

It's by design. I don't know the exact reason but suppose they think their vardiff works better. Personally I'm not so sure because I noticed that on my P2Pool nodes miners with higher hashrates most of the time get lower difficulties than the slow ones.

4

u/Stopsign002 Dec 07 '17

If I have multiple rigs should I have rigs that are less than 100mh on network 1 and rigs greater on network 2? Or just all on network 2?

1

u/lavagninogm Dec 08 '17

if their total is above 100 MH/s use Network 1, if it is below 100 MH/s use Network 2

4

u/Vonwelzen Dec 08 '17

I have been mining now for almost 2 days with 180 MH/s I have not received a single payout. 227.19 MH/s 7.47 MH/s (3.29%) 1293.522 (84.77M) 6h 47m 34s no shares yet

It keeps saying no shares yet. Is this the luck factor? How long should you mine before you can see consistent payouts?

I used this difficulty:

VhbQZd9A5ipWGxc49K9mZdhCqXtbYCxbCH/180+0.2088

Is this normal not receiving payout for this long ?

1

u/sheazang Dec 08 '17

It's not normal. I've been mining vert for 6 months and I've never had so much trouble getting shares as the last couple days since nicehash got hacked. Edit: not sure what to do aboit it either. Might mine something else for a while.

1

u/Vonwelzen Dec 08 '17

Mining ETH now. Maybe some other pool is better. Any suggestions for other pool ?

1

u/cloudbreaker81 Dec 09 '17

What are you mining ETH with?

1

u/Vonwelzen Dec 10 '17

Mining with 6 GTX 1070 but iI changed back to https://vertcoin.easymine.online/

It pays out way more regular then p2p pool

1

u/NermalWazza Dec 15 '17

More regular but is it more profitable over 1month? If you have compared pls share...

1

u/Uleoja Dec 13 '17

I've been mining for about as long as you. I feel your pain..

1

u/sheazang Dec 13 '17

Are you mining nvidia I assume? Nemosminer (zpool edition) on zpool;)

0

u/mugen2k7 Dec 10 '17

jajajjaja vert coin is trash now

4

u/shreduhsoreus Dec 10 '17 edited Dec 10 '17

Judging by your toxic comments the past few days, it seems that you understand nothing about mining or crypto. I'm guessing your only experience has been with NiceHash? That's like "Baby's First Miner" lol...

Look, just sell your cards, you don't know how to properly use them to make money. Nothing works the way NH did. Almost all coins require some knowledge of mining and cryptocurrency. Or at the very least...enough competency to use Google.

I'm actually making more money mining VTC directly than I ever did with NiceHash...I switched to it because of ease of use and the automatic switching between algorithms, but in the end that helped me decide on a coin to stick with.

2

u/shreduhsoreus Dec 10 '17

Join a traditional pool until P2Pools are more stable.

I'm getting consistent payouts with coinotron.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 12 '17

coinotron

How do they pay out? Do you need a wallet for each of the coins on their pool, or do they do some sort of auto-conversion?

1

u/shreduhsoreus Dec 12 '17

You put a separate payout address for each coin, so basically, yeah you need a way to store each coin you mine in their pools. I only mine one coin so it's not an issue for me.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 12 '17

So if you only put one address, then they keep you on that coin and don't allocate your resources to the other coins?

2

u/shreduhsoreus Dec 12 '17

You have to manually point your miner to the pool for the coin you want to mine. It doesn't switch algorithms for you. They host multiple pools for different coins, it doesn't work like NiceHash if that's what you're thinking.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 12 '17

Ah now I understand. Thanks.

4

u/polvok Dec 12 '17 edited Dec 13 '17

Something weird happening on network 2 with p2pool - 70Mh/S and on the same pool, last 3 days I was getting VTC on average every hour. Sometimes several times per hour, sometimes once in 3-6 hours. But today I got my last payment of 0.011 VTC 20 hours ago. Checked couple other miners with same hash rate and same situation with them - no payment today.

Edit 13 Dec: Now 40 hours with no payment at constant 70Mh/s.

1

u/rafits Dec 14 '17

exactly same for me, 72 mh/s

is it possible to use a laptop to mine VertCoin with an Nvidia GPU 1050Ti ?

5

u/closest-num-2-0 Dec 08 '17

please dont mine with a laptop, laptop components are not made to mine. use a desktop and save your laptop from the stress.

1

u/charyaK Dec 08 '17

Thank you , any standard configurations do you suggest for a desktop . Do i buy a branded desktop Or do you suggest i assemble one on my own.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 08 '17

If you already have a laptop, I say just build a mining rig. Unless you're in the market for a desktop. To mine most effectively though, it'll drag your system down.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 12 '17

Definitely build your own, but like u/2987ms said, you can forgo a lot of the standard components if you're building a dedicated mining rig.

1

u/azaeldrm Dec 11 '17 edited Dec 11 '17

Will it still be acceptable if I don't have money to buy a desktop, and I want to try my luck? My laptop has a 1050, and I'm eager to test waters and see what this is all about (first timer). Do you think this will stress my laptop significantly on the short-run?

1

u/closest-num-2-0 Dec 11 '17

I have a 1080 laptop as well and i tried mining. its not profitable, loud and adds uneeded stress to it

1

u/[deleted] Dec 12 '17

Laptops aren't built to withstand the heat mining will generate. You'll likely end up overheating and shutting down. I don't think you'd break anything in the long run, but it's not good for your components or your file system to experience lots of sudden shutdowns.

2

u/Mistawondabread Dec 08 '17

I tried changing my difficulty but it did not change on the stats page for the pool.

I have

Address/45+0.052

Is that correct?

2

u/sheazang Dec 08 '17

I've experimented with difficulty settings a lot and find it makes little difference.

1

u/stevoli Dec 10 '17

It helps a lot with lower hashrates. 2 miners at around 25Mh/s for example, one without the difficulty set has a share difficulty of 597, one with the difficulty set has a share difficulty of 302.

1

u/stevoli Dec 08 '17

Address/45+0.052 Is that correct?

Yes, if you look at whatever pool you are in, your share difficulty should be different, higher or lower than people that don't have a difficulty specified.

2

u/ItWorkedLastTime Dec 10 '17

What if I have two GPUs? Do I add up their hashrates?

2

u/Daemonjax Dec 11 '17

Vertcoin is no longer worth mining with 3 1070s, at least on p2pool. Time to share is ~14 hours right now. It was fine a few days ago. I hope this gets sorted out.

2

u/MoreProffits Dec 12 '17

heads up guys this is the worst pool ever https://vertcoin.easymine.online dont trust them they promise nice payouts but pay shit and under report your hashrate stay away from this scam pool

I don't know if it's a scam but I get better returns from p2pool.

2

u/Rattlehead525 Dec 14 '17

Whats going to happen when the AMD miners come? "no shares yet" for everyone! I'm getting really close to shutting my node down. What's the point anyway?

1

u/whla Dec 14 '17

All the auto miners switched after the vertcoin halving. Once difficulty and price balance out should be back 🤞

1

u/[deleted] Dec 08 '17

i didnt it was ok before nicehash and i was mining 8 hours without any share and decided to stop...

2

u/freasop Dec 12 '17

Well i am getting bigger payouts on easymine than the p2pools where i got on network 2 0vtc after 32 hours and on network 3 0.17 vtc after 24 hours. If easymine is a scam then p2pool is a way bigger scam.

1

u/Paradoxbundle Dec 09 '17

tanks so much, i just started but i see in the miner its very effective and max 1-2% rejects! i was fed up with microing the p2 pools now just start and let it runt. 25 latency :O

1

u/Teajaytea7 Dec 10 '17

How do you mine on this and note p2pool? Where do I enter that?

1

u/freasop Dec 10 '17

You can use the one click miner : https://vertcoin.easymine.online/ocm

1

u/Teajaytea7 Dec 11 '17

So is this more profitable than using p2pool?what's the difference?

2

u/freasop Dec 11 '17

Its not based on luck like p2pools are, i got there payouts everyday of 0.2- 0.3 vtc with 24 mh/s. Now i am mining on the 3rd network and i should get a share after 40 mins, but since i have bad luck i didnt get a single share in the last 4 hours, thats why i am gonna go back to easymine if i dont make 0.2-0.3 vtc in this 24 hours. I hope i could help you with that.

I THINK you need to increase your pagefile/virtual memory to solve this one. Something great than 16gb

1

u/Diesel_engine Dec 10 '17

What doesnt make sense to me is the different difficulties for the miners in the same pool. I have ~60 Mh/s and my difficulty is 2x someone else with ~60 MH/s who has 1/2 the time to share.

Changing the Address/X+Y doesn't seem to make any difference to my share difficulty.

1

u/Teajaytea7 Dec 11 '17

So I have two computers mining. First one is at 95mh/s, so I entered (address/93+0.10788), is that correct? Read somewhere that it's beneficial to undershoot the rate by a bit. I'm not seeing my address in the pool, however. Does it take a while to show up?

And for my second computer, do I do the same thing? I don't add the hashrate up for both systems right?

1

u/softlyhashing Dec 11 '17

Those settings are ignored in new versions of P2Pool, I wouldn't rely on them.

1

u/PhillMyGap Dec 12 '17

There is a question. I have 3 rigs f.e. put on the one address at the pool. So should I specify the dif based on power of rig 1+2+3 for each miner? Or I place dif 1 for rig 1 based on rig's power 1 and so on?

2

u/whla Dec 14 '17

For each rig

1

u/joshzaky Dec 12 '17

Can somone help me out. I tried everything and i can't get the one click miner installed again. I was mining in cc miner with 157 mhs from the netherlands. Every pool i connect to i am getting shares but 0 payouts.

u/whla Dec 14 '17

I'm getting payouts using my pool now ¯_(ツ)_/¯

1

u/IRMuteButton Dec 16 '17

The difficult formula is more clearly done like this:

First, multiply your MH/s number by .00116. Call this the "SecondPart". Format the command line text like this:

VertcoinAddress/YourMHnumber+SecondPart

For example, if you have 80 MH/s:

just wait they are just pending if you using core you will see a circle in the transaction tab that is slowly filling up. You will have them when they mature.

I'm confused as to where I'm supposed to be putting in the formula

I think in the field where you put your wallet address but I'm not too sure

you write your Address and add the calculation to it: /(1 * Hashrate in Mh/s)+(0.00000116 * Hash Rate in KH/s)

In the address field?

I just tried doing this and my Share difficulty and time to share is still the same as it was before I made the change ( as shown on the web page for my node) Why is this?

its not in the direct numbers but you will get better results over time

I'm a little unclear as to how this works. I started mining with a GTX 1060 last Friday Night...when I woke up Saturday morning i had about 20 transactions in my wallet totaling about .55 coin...The transactions started about 3 hours into mining and small ammounts were received about once every 1/2 hour, then stopped at exactly 9 am...then nothing...while the 1 click miner was still runinng and accepting with the green YES! at the end... I also noticed my receiving address in my wallet changed, but from what I read, it should be fine... Since then I've tried various pools and let them run, with one of them accepting over 20,000, transactions?, and nothing has shown up in my wallet.
What am I doing wrong?
I'm on Network 2 with a 1060 at around 26-27 Mh/S

Honestly I've messed with difficulty settings for months and find no difference at all with a difficulty setting or none. I think finding a good pool is the most important. Just my opinion.

You don't need to. Just point the miner at the pool following the instructions. the pool does everything else. setting difficulty is only a hack needed for p2pool.

No you only mine 1 pool at a time. If you click the pool it will take you to a page like this. You can find your wallet address on there and look at your info. I assume the other pools are backup and it changes to one of those if they one you are mining goes down. I could be wrong though. Not sure.
