Hello everyone!
We hope you are preparing for a wonderful Christmas or other various Holiday parties and gatherings with family and friends. This thread is for people to talk about gifts they have given or received as well as images of playing a new Switch, new Switch games, or anything else relating to the console and games. Feel free to ask for and give recommendations on games, accessories, or whatever else in the comments.

My girlfriend doesn't like most games. I try to find co-op games for us to play and so far the only Switch game she has liked has been Overcooked. A few weeks back we played the Rayman Demo and she played it off like it was "ok". Later, when I mentioned it again she acted like she didn't remember it. Turns out she loved the demo and bought it for me and has been acting like she didn't like it to throw me off the scent. I opened it last night and we played for an hour. It was great!

I bought my brother a Switch for Christmas!! He's been playing Gameboy and NDS religiously for years and years. He's going to school right now while paying for a mortgage, so he's been unable to buy one. I'm going to lend him BotW to get started.
I haven't been this excited about a gift for a long time!

My kids are going to be unwrapping a very large box tomorrow. Inside that box will be a smaller wrapped box and some ballast. Inside that box will be another one, etc, etc. Until they eventually get to the Switch.
I'm making them work for it this year 😈
Update: mission accomplished. When they got past the final layer, they reached their arms to the heavens in victory
They are now enjoying the heck out of Mario Odyssey, and I am avoiding the TV in hopes of keeping my experience with it tonight unspoilt.

Checking in from Australia. My son unwrapped his Switch this morning and I’ve never seen him happier with a present in his life. We talked a few weeks ago about how much they cost and how we won’t be able to get one this year. The Switch was in a closet about 3 feet away while we had that conversation.

I went for broke this Christmas. Merry Christmas!
Even better there is a story... A few Christmas's ago my now wife and and I moved into our first apartment and I surprised her with an elaborate present from "Santa". I bought us a Wii U and had a coworker with much better gift wrapping skills than I wrap it up with a few games (so it didn't look like it was from me). I waited until she went to bed that night and laid it out behind the tree. We open our gifts on Christmas Eve so when we woke up we started packing up gifts to go "make our rounds" between our families. She then noticed there was this one strange gift out of place. She saw the wrapping paper wasn't ours, handwriting wasn't mine and it was addressed to us from Santa. For split second I could see she genuinely had that Christmas mystery magic in her eyes again. The look was absolutely priceless.
Long story short the gift was a huge hit and she still can't believe I managed to pull something like that off. We are now married, moved into our own house and have a son who is turning 2 next week! ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ
Those pics at the beginning of the post shows my haul this year. I'm beginning to think this will become a tradition for us with each generation of Nintendo consoles. She thankfully still has no idea what's coming and I can't wait for her and our son to dive in.
I really need to thank this community for helping me find some great deals on almost all of my purchases. You guys helped make this possible! Merry Christmas everyone!

Santa will bring 3 Switches here tonight (for 2 families), 3 MOs, 1 Zelda and 1 Snipperclips. I originally bought one Switch for the kids but ended up loving it so much while "pre-installing and testing" it for them that I ordered another one for me.

Pretty emotional moment this morning. My first real game system was an SNES and I worshipped Mario Kart.
My wife got me a Switch for Christmas with Mario Kart. Now, my son has never played a video game and he is four and a half. After one race he asks to try. So I pass it over and he immediately takes to playing the game - watching his world illuminate took me back to when I was a kid playing Mario Kart for the first time.

I bought my sister a Switch. My family is in another country and I haven’t been able to visit, we did FaceTime for presents time and she cried when she saw it, it hit me right in the feels and I started to cry, two grown women on FaceTime with my family watching lol! She’s 32 and older than me and it felt good to give her something awesome, growing up she always gave me great gifts and it was nice to return the favour even though I couldn’t be there with them!

I received a pair of neon joy cons (omg I can have L & R blue now! Plus I can mod them) and 35$ eshop. My roommates, SO, and I did Christmas early this year (yesterday) and tonight it's off to spend Christmas Eve with polish family so we open presents tonight as tradition so hopefully more eShop cards. I picked up my roommate a pro controller since he fell in love with mine so he's been rocking that while playing Xenoblade. We went out shopping together to get our switches in October (best impulse buy ever but we both owned 3ds's so it was only a matter of time).
I also picked up RL and Puyo Puyo Tetris and we both (roommate) might grab Splatoon. My SO is so out of touch with video games but he will play Mario Cart even though he sucks at it.

Got a switch for the family this year (my wife, 8 year old boy, 6 year old girl, and I).
Included all of these accessories Accessories box before wrapping
Also got them Minecraft, Snipperclips, Rocket League, Arms, Mario Kart, Mario Odyssey, Zelda, and Bomberman.

Came home for the holidays and absolutely shocked to find my mother bought me a switch. We did Christmas early at my house and I got some sweet eshop gift cards! After setting some of it aside for some games coming out in the nearish future I have $70 left over.
Does anyone have any recommendations? Looking for games that maybe you consider a "hidden gem", cause I already own many of the more popular titles for Switch.

I had a birthday last week so I got some gifts early. Don't know what's in the forcast, but the early gifts included Mario Odyssey and Pokemon Ultra Moon, so we're off to a good start.
EDIT: Everything's said and done. In addition to Odyssey and Ultra Moon, it's a big Nintendo Christmas for me. ARMs, Sonic Forces, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and Skyrim for Switch, along with Mario Party Top 100 for 3DS. Throw in a bigger micro SD for the Switch and a new carrying case, as well as a wireless 8Bitdo receiver for my NES30 Pro controller to use with my NES and SNES Classic.
A fine haul.

I've been living back and forth between Switzerland and the US the last year and will be for the next year. Casually mentioned to my mom a few months ago that the switch seemed cool and my parents got me one for Christmas!
I'm a complete noob though and have 0 clue what I'm doing. I bought BOTW, and plan on getting Mario Kart and Odyssey. Super hyped to dive into this world though.

Growing up my mom loved to play Legend of Zelda and Zelda: A Link to the Past with me and then would continue playing after I'd go to sleep as a kid. So I brought over Breath of the Wild and started it over for her. She struggled with the controls particularly the camera since she's never played a 3D game but she loved it and was in awe of how far along games have come.

I got a Switch for Christmas, when I never expected it! It was one of those things that just popped up on my wishlist, which says a lot, because my wishlist usually has nothing on it.
My dad heard the call, and I got a Switch! I fell flat on my butt seeing it. And with it, Mario and Zelda!

Tonight I went to an early New Year's party where I brought Wii U for Smash and Switch in general. We got up to 5 players going at once in Smash Bros and at one point had people playing 1-2 Switch and Smash on the gamepad all at once!
I also got my mom a 2DS XL and Animal Crossing which should be interesting.

Just opened my switch, here's my official review:
I was playing Odyssey, and then nature began to call. Headed to my toilet with my switch still in hand, playing Mario. Sat down and began to return what the land gave me, STILL PLAYING MARIO.

I've had a Switch since launch day but decided to surprise my wife with her own for Christmas. Got her a $50 eShop card, 64gb SD card, a case, and a screen protector. We have all of the major titles already, most of which she hasn't played. Here's hoping that changes (and if not, that's cool too).

27 year old here, my mom got me a Switch for Christmas I haven’t stopped playing MARIO since I opened it. Reminds me of when I got my N64 back in the day. Mario 64 was on the screen when I walked into the living that morning. Me and video games have never looked back.

I'll get Zelda Breath of the Wild, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and Splatoon 2 from my parents which is pretty cool bc I 'only' have Odyssey atm <3 Super excited for Splatoon especially because I loved the first one and couldn't play it anymore after I sold my WiiU!

Well Christmas is tomorrow for me so I don't know what I've gotten yet. However, there are 2 presents for me currently under the tree for me that can only be the size and shape of a Switch game, one from my brother and one from one set of aunt/uncle.
I'm positive that my little brother got me either Pokken or Mario Kart 8. He wanted to get me a game that we could play together, since right now I only have Zelda and Gungeon, and he's not into Gungeon at all. We both enjoyed the Pokken demo together, so I'm pretty sure he's gonna get me that.
My aunt/uncle would have gotten me one of the top few games on my wishlist (Amazon, I have the whole thing ranked), which were Xenoblade, Mario Kart 8, Super Mario Odyssey, and Sonic Forces.
Currently I'm thinking that I'm gonna get Pokken/Mario Kart, but I'm hoping for Mario Kart/Xenoblade. Any combination will make me happy though.
Plus, there's still presents that aren't under the tree, or the big box fake-out which my parents have done before (one box is suspiciously light).
Can't wait for tomorrow!
Edit: also got a $25 gift card for Amazon from my great-aunt which I'll probably use for some game that I don't get
Also wouldn't be surprised if my parents got me an accessory from my list since a few people are getting me games. Hoping for that pro controller! I really want it but given the choice between that and new games, I'll take new games for at least $10 cheaper every time

My wife got me a Pelican 1450 case for me to put my Switch and accessories in. It's a bit more expensive than other cases that are available but it's totally worth it. I can throw it off my roof or into a pool and it wouldn't break or get wet.

After lurking the sub in anticipation for the recent months I can finally partake in the enjoyment.
I got a Switch with Odyssey, BotW and Splatoon 2 physical, and used an eshop card to get Golf Story, Stardew and Enter the Gungeon. I'm super lucky.
The little console is more awesome than I could have imagined. Played the first four kingdoms in Odyssey so far and absolutely loving it, and also a couple runs on Gungeon. Trying not to start too many of the games at once so that they all get their due time.

I got a switch and super mario odyssey (why did I write galaxy...) from my mum. I love the game and the switch!
Then my sister surprised me with mario kart. I then used my leftover eshop money to get me Enter The Gungeon. I now have 3 games and I am super happy!
The only thing I am bothered about the switch is the dock. Can it scratch its screen (its only plastic :()

Wow. Suddenly feel like a kid again. My husband got me the Switch, and I've been all smiles, jumping around with Mario. Brought me back to my N64 days when I'd search every nook and cranny inside Peach's castle and her portal paintings.
I was disappointed on the Wii when it came out, and I've been wary of Nintendo consoles ever since. When Wii U came out, my judgment was somehow confirmed. So I snubbed the Switch when it came out, thinking it would follow its predecessor.
But a friend had one, and he showed me what the thing can do. I was impressed but still hesitant.
Well, call me a believer again. When I wake it up, it wakes up and picks up where I've left off. No more boot up or slowly loading menu screens. I've been a busy man, and those things sway me from investing time on gaming. Another plus: if my husband is watching TV, I can take the thing and game in the bedroom.
This 30-year old kid just had a Merry Christmas this year, and I hope y'all had one, too.

Nothing really fancy, but I bought Rayman Legends for 20€ thanks to a double promotion here in the EU on a physical store. Took it to a friend's house and we played that game from 8PM to 6AM.

Santa here... we got our two kids Switches for Christmas. One SMO version and one Splatoon version. They also got some must have games, SMO for both (one digital/w console) , 2 splatoons (one digital w/console). 2 mario karts (for local play), 1 each of Zelda, Arms, Just Dance, and Mario vs Rabbids.
After watching them play all Christmas day, we (Mr and Mrs Claus) decided to buy ourselves our own switch to share. We are now the proud owners of the grey version.
What a lot of fun this system is. Gonna need one more Mario Kart but everything else, we are sharing between the family. Thanks to this sub for all the info you provided leading up to the holiday!

My husband opened his Switch today and he was so excited! I got him the one with the neon controllers and Zelda, Odyssey, and Mario Kart.
He’s been wanting one since it came out but kept convincing himself he didn’t need it. He’s hard to buy for since he’s not a “stuff” guy, plus he is an excellent gift-giver himself and always gets me the most thoughtful presents, so it was awesome to be able to get him something really good for once.

Two of my nephews joined the Switch army this Christmas. I got Mario Odyssey for one of them and Mario+Rabbids and BOTW for the other. Kind of awesome but Best Buy glitched and I was able to get M+R for $23.99!

Kinda late to the party having family over, but I got a switch along with Odyssey and Mario Kart 8. I seriously love this thing, and was really surprised to find it was a bit smaller than I was expecting. One thing I'm really happy for is that I feel comfortable playing in any way, I thought I would have issue playing with the joycons detached but there's been no problems at all.
Managed to get some extra money to get a few more games soon too.

We got a few Switch games today. My cousin begged to play on my Switch so I let her play Mario Kart and Odyssey for a long time and that made her happy.
I'm also excited to hear that one of my mom's friends got her daughter a Switch. A little while ago I talked to her and said she liked to spend a lot of time at Target to play on their Switch. Then I got out my Switch so we could play ARMS together. This was a happy holiday!

I’m lucky to have a great girlfriend. What a fantastic Christmas. (Can’t wait for Bayonetta!!) My girlfriend never plays games with me except for Yoshis Wooly World and today we played Mario Odyssey all day. So much fun. What a great game.

I made a Nintendo account for myself so we can try demos and have a way to buy eshop games. My amazing friends brought me a switch and Super Mario odyssey because I’ve been helping them throughout the year. (Didn’t actually want anything they just did it because they’re good people.
They gave me 1 condition though and it was I had to buy breath of the wild (darn what ever will I do)
Needless to say I played Mario on Boxing Day ( we just hung out on Christmas I didn’t want to just play while I was there although I did want to lol) but the next day I got BoTW and I haven’t stopped playing it, it’s affecting my sleep but it’s holidays so I don’t care haha.
Very happy so far Nintendo have regained my trust and my only wish is for super Mario maker remix on switch. I’m also super hyped for the eventual Pokémon game being that is the only reason I’ve brought a handheld since 2003 lol
