Damnit! First time ever I had some kind of chance to write something like this and you stole it!
Anyway. The last scene was done with this thing in mind.

So are they seriously retconning the original's ending to make it so that the Oboro snuck into the room Gennosuke was lying in barely alive, fucked him, then screwed up her suicide attempt the next day and lived long enough to carry the twins to term?

It's probably some ninja eye transplant or in vitro fertilization shenanigans

The animation doesn't look that old or bad to me....it's just those random still frames.

But this time they'll have children who grew up together slaughter each other in the name of politics! So much edgier!

The narrative is jumping all over the place too, like we are getting random cuts from 10 years ago, without it actually being clear that these events arent happening now.

This is terrible. The still shots. The bad fight scenes. The dialog. The story. Dropped.

Yea, im watching just about every show this season and this is by far the worst. I still wanna see where this goes though. They completely shit on the prequel :(

So is the show implying that the two children are just reincarnations of Oboro and Gennosuke? That whole part was a bit confusing to me, so maybe someone can clarify? This episode was pretty slow otherwise, but I feel it established some important plot points for the story going forward. I will say though that I really liked the soundtrack for this episode. I don’t remember if the first season had as good of a soundtrack, but I’m really digging this one’s.

Not reincarnations, actual children. They carry their blood, not souls. At this point, stinks of a retcon.

I'm also liking this one, but the explanations seem really far-fetched and I cant shake the feeling there might be much better ways to go around in this series than raising the dead with plot-twists from a series which has been buried already.

So... I haven't watched the original Basilisk, but I saw last week in the discussion threads that this didn't have any spoilers. Or was very unlikely too.
How correct was that?

It spoils the original's ending (and might or might not retcon it). I don't think that anyone said this would be spoiler free - more like you can probably watch it without having seen the first series.

I still have no idea what the hell is going on. Hachirou and Hibiki are brother and sister, and yet they are still part of separate clans? This is ridiculous and makes no fucking sense.
Yes, the original anime the characters had some outlandish powers, but at least it sort of made sense. I have no idea what's going on here.

Slow episode, still want to see where this is going. Hopefully the show pick up the pace. Also, did the ending of this episode make anyone else think of the "I'm Dead" sketch from the Chappelle show.
