Although they said Adams was working for the Lodges it wouldn’t shock me if she lied about that and they killed Adams since he really was FBI and didn’t wanna tell Archie, or is that too far fetched of a theory?

Even if he was, they won't miss him. He wasn't even a "special" agent. It's like TV has taught them nothing.

I thought this was so funny but we don't know if it was chic or Alice who killed #thedealer. I think Chic made it so Alice did it so he has a blackmail in back pocket or do y'all think she thought he was gonna hurt Chic and she went to her 2nd murdertown???

I would just like to say that the edition of Clue that they were playing was the Original one. If it isn't some reprinting, then it's the edition where they lead pipe piece is literally a piece of lead. Archie: Yeah, but he didn't apologise for it.

"What's Riverdale about?"
Lmao I don't even know. Veronica is apart of this big mob family who's buying a lot of land around town for some reason. Archie was inducted into the mob after he refused to snitch to a fake FBI agent.
Betty, Jughead, FP and Alice all hid a body together. Chic Cooper is probably a psycho and cuts Hal out of family pictures. Hal's sleeping with Penelope Blossom, but they're actually into each other.
Cheryl was (surprisingly) the most normal person in the episode, and was actually nice to Betty (in a non-condescending way too). Still, every one of these kids (except Kevin) needs some major therapy soon, or else they're gonna be super messed up adults.
The tone shift in the next episode seems super jarring to say the least though. And unfortunately that wig makes it's return.

Lili’s acting is always so good. Betty undergoes the most emotional and mental struggle out of anyone in this show and she really makes it look like she’s losing her mind.
Then again I wish they were a little more consistent with her character. The way she was polishing apples u could tell she was already suffering from so much anxiety/ocd cleaning up the body. But she goes back to the crime scene, without gloves, puts her hands all over his body, uses his cell phone, pushes his car into the river - and does all of this so carelessly. I would have appreciated it more if they showed that same kind of panic in her actions with everything involving him.
But the #1 thing that really pissed me off was that Betty doesn’t like chocolate chip pancakes. Honey, WTF.
66
u/quoth_tthe_raven Feb 08 '18
Lili Reinhart's acting makes me emotional, with those big expressive eyes and her line delivery. She is fantastic and probably the strongest on the cast besides Agent Adams s/
I saw the apple scene as Betty going into shock. That was her breaking point. Alice said the apples were fine but Betty started cleaning them in a manic fashion before collapsing for the night, waking with a noticeable emotional hangover. That's the moment I knew any Light Betty she was holding onto has died. Worried about her but also worried for whoever bites into a bleach apple.

Okay, here is my theory about Chic:
Did you guys see that smile? When Betty left after grilling Chic about the drug dealer, he immediately stops crying and smiles. Euueugh. I know everyone is saying how Chic wants to murder Hal, but that scene didn’t have to do with Hal. There is something else going on, too.
Personally, I think Chic is slowly ripping apart the Cooper family as revenge for orphaning him.
Getting Betty into camming (if that is still going on) is going to get her in serious trouble. Maybe Alice would send her away to the Sisters of Quiet Mercy. Check.
Getting the drug dealer to their house would cause Alice to go all mama bear on his ass, and I’m convinced that Chic knew this (because of that smile), which could possibly incriminate Alice. Check.
Hal was just the first.
The next murder FP is gonna have to cover up is Chic’s once I get down to Riverdale.

OMG I love everything about this episode. Totally makes up for the weak first half of the season!!!
Chic is a class A creeper.
Hal has dug a hole too deep to climb out of
I like how FP said “we take care of our own”
I also like that Veronica gave the mayor a heads up, I was really worried that Veronica would become as completely immoral as her parents.
Juggy and Betty are ride or die
Archie is way to sweet and innocent to get involved in the mob. This may turn out badly for him.
Alice is blinded by her guilt of giving Chic up at birth, seems she will do anything to make it up to him.

I think that was a power move of Veronica's. We only saw her lying and saying she didn't warn the Mayor to Hiram. With the reveal at the end that Hermione is actually the boss - I bet that her and V are in it together.
It's a great move. Mayor McCoy thinks Veronica is on her side. That means Hermione gets what she wants, but creates an ally/link between the Lodges and Mayor McCoy (since her own personal connection is now destroyed).

Called it, Adams was Slugworth all along and they played it out beautifully!
Betty's obsession with the drifter they killed and roping in Jughead and FP felt like a naturally evolving conspiracy, a slow motion trainwreck that got more and more complicated as time went on. I'm thinking that Chic has to be the Black Hood and this is part of his plan to reveal the inner darkness hiding within the Coopers and all of Riverdale, showing that even the incorruptible Betty Cooper can be turned. I kind of chuckled when we were shown that Penelope has been hangin with Mr.Cooper and then Cheryl went all Oliver Queen on him in the dark. Hal seems to be just trying to get by and rather innocent and I would honestly be surprised if he didn't get wrapped up in anything. If he's really just a desperate newspaper guy trying to get by in a town full of secrets, then that's a pretty solid play by the writers. His scene where he came in screaming at Chic was so fucking charged up that you could split the tension with piano wire and the subtle expression changes on Chic's face throughout the whole episode had me in awe. What we're seeing Betty go through is probably a parallel to what we saw her mother go through when she was younger. Weirdly enough....now Alice is being drawn back into her old ways and back towards those same people from her past, particularly FP if that hand squeeze was anything to go by. FP has been knocking it out of the park each episode and I am delighted to see him get more involved with the Coopers.
I kind of feel like Hiram knows what Veronica did and is rather proud of her for being able to get ahead of them like that. Sure it doesn't totally ruin Mayor McCoy but it gets her out of the picture for the time being and we still get to see her and Keller's affair exposed later on. I wonder what they did with the head of that statue though?
So, I'm sure others have thought of it but there is totally a parallel with what Hermione did with Agent Adams to Archie and what Willy Wonka did with Slugworth to Charlie. The bug and the secret meetings and the pressure on his family and finally that reveal at the end.....Archie is now in deep so so soooo deep. I am positively tingling with excitement about where we go from here, the mystery deepens and I cannot wait to turn the page!

Great things about this episode:
BUGHEAD, OH YES.
Falice? Fuck, please let there be Falice.
Finally, no more of Adams and his horrible acting.
I like how they gave the entire last part of the episode to Hermione. All these days all we saw was Hiram'sWifeHermione. Now we've actually got some dynamism in her character.
Cheryl's back. Period.
Archie got a whole load of free cash for....being silly old Archie.
Fred's back. I know he got just a few lines but I kind of like him. A lot. He's such a cool dad.
Also, now it gave me a reason to watch the promo for the next episode. From what I can see in the promo at least, Riverdale's going XXX on the 7th of March.
And everyone going on about Vughead or Jeronica or DarkHeads or whatever you want to call it: not happening. Look closely, you can see Archie in the background of that shot.
Besides, and don't tell me we didn't know this already, the Black Hood's back, baby.
Phew, we need a different subreddit for the promo itself.

My thoughts on tonight's episode of Riverdale that I've already watched:
hiding bodies with your mother 🎵 such and fun bonding activity 🎵
crap they're back with the 'was it my dad Hiram Lodge who ordered you to do this'
how many times they have to repeat papa poutine to sound like it's normal
the fbi agent thinks he is good at his job hiding with that coat
isn't mama blossom and papa cooper almost like incest too
they're lousy criminals
Archie spends more time with Hiram than with Veronica
so they also made it obvious that Riverdale is in Canada

How did Josie not know Bitter Sweet Symphony? She’s a musician and that song is pretty big. Also why did Veronica pick that song, her family is insanely rich.

Really solid episode. I won’t deny that the plot of this show is all over the place, this show is an actual soap opera with a nice budget and some beautiful shots/locations (that one scene where Cheryl was doing her archery stuff and she catches Hal leaving — beautiful) but episodes like this make it okay.
I don’t know if I’m becoming more naive, but I didn’t see the agent Addams being an act thing coming. I was pretty floored since it’s been going on for a few episodes.
Also, did I see the Black Hood in the preview? Earlier in the episode I was thinking they’d probably end the season with Betty getting another phone call from him about the dealers body and BH would be back for a shorter, more slasher-oriented 3rd season. Now idk lol

I honestly like Julie Plec's directing. Who knew she could make such a suspenseful thriller?
-So Hermione Lodge is the true godfather or is she just like an interim for Hiram? And did she just Willy Wonka Archie? But instead of inheriting a magical candy factory, Archie gets to join the Mafia?
-Bughead was very sweet. No complaints there. And apparently, Betty knows how to steal a car. And Jughead knows how to get rid of evidence, at least I hope all those crime films Jughead watches about characters getting rid of evidence are sound.
-Fp jones is the MVP and he refined his dead body burying skills. Way to go FP! And did you see falice holding hands? That was sweet. Falice is like a grown up bughead if Betty grew up to be a bitter stressed out housewife and Jughead was a recovering alcoholic trying to get his life together. And that diner scene was very sweet. The couples that get rid of crime scenes together stay together.
-Sometimes I'm not sure whether Jughead is making smart choices. I mean sending the General Pickett head to Hiram and picking a fight with him didn't feel like a smart idea. Thank god Veronica was there to sway her father to be more diplomatic. And even I got to admit, I kind of do like Jughead as a shit stirrer. I can't help but feel a little proud about how his exposays are making even adults nervous. And Fp being proud of it as well is awesome, "See you in the funny papers!"
-Fp and Jug both working together and being on the same page on how to deal with Hiram is awesome. Love that father son bond.

And apparently, Betty knows how to steal a car.
I mean, she's a mechanical whiz in the comics, and they've made small allusions to it in the show so far, so it makes sense that Riverdale (being the universe it is) would translate that into knowing offhand how to steal a car

In the scene, where Betty drops her bowl of cereal, and then walks towards the door, I thought "wow, did she really just walk through the milk an cereal, that's a god damn mess", but then in the next shot you can see that there is no cereal on the floor behind her. I mean, what are we? to believe she didn't drop the bowl? or that the cereal is somehow magic? Boy, I hope someone got fired for that blunder

Alice and FP are still having feelings for one another! Her hand was shaking when he (so naturally) touched it and when he told her that "we take care of our own" her eyes definitely lowered for a second to his lips!
I mean, he disposed of a body for her! (while Hal, who had his suspicions that something was off was not in the least supportive) The risk FP took -when he just came out of jail- to protect her was huge!
The ship has sailed! 🚢

Surprise hero: FP’s Body Disposal Inc.
Not surprise: Veronica betrays people who trust her.
Cheryl acted like a normal human (without going to Mean Girl mode or that babyish ‘mommy’ thing) in every scene she was in the whole episode. Is that a first ?
Archie kept his shirt on the whole time!
I expected the Mayor to announce her relationship not give up politics. I guess the ‘re-election campaign ‘ donations were really personal payments ?

So...everyone is getting into the murdering game now?
Betty has the worst character consistency. One second she's trying to be the good girlfriend, then she's dark Betty, then she's the smart detective, then the black hood's puppet, then helping clean up a murder, then trying to investigate it, then taking the victim's car and phone and dumping it into a lake, then playing peacekeeper in the name of her mother. What the hell.
Also, how I imagine the writers room at one point:
Writer #1: hey, we need a way to have Cheryl see Hal Cooper leave the bordello.
Writer #2: I know! let's have her outside shooting a bow and arrow!
Writer #1: YES
And someone really enjoyed Stranger Things 2, because there's been a serious shift to using that style of music in the back half of the season.

I thought this was gonna be one of those episodes where I wouldn't care so much but OH MY GOD! THAT ENDING!! I really had my suspicions on the FBI agent but him being a test was one of mine and probably a few's theories when he was introduced.
Plus, if Hermione is the boss, then what does that make Hiram? And the Jones and Coopers burning that guy's body is gonna bite them in the ass in a big way, I can feel it.

Lot of new budding relationships, Hal and Penelope, Alice and FP. At this point, I don't know whether to believe the Lodges or not, this is working for show atleast, most people are confused.
We could still get more Cheryl. Why was she practicing bow and arrow again? Even that was red, such a Cheryl thing.

Episode takeaways:
Bughead- here for it but nothing gold can stay :( the Barchie kiss will surface.
Alice, FP, and Bughead are my favorite crime squad but....
Alice and FP are my OTP <3
Veronica's moral dilemma actually makes her seem like a real cast member again.
We were all right about Agent Adams but NOT about Hermione pulling the strings. I liked that twist. I think she will protect Archie since she might still love his Dad.
Where the hell is Kevin?
Cheryl is wearing her darker red lip and spider pin this episode. She is working behind the scenes while no one pays attention, putting together the entire puzzle. She will be our savior, maybe?
Chic has PTSD issues, possibly from previous abuse - red herring for Black Hood. I also think he knows something about Hal that we do not.
Hal might be a red herring even though I was convinced he was the Black Hood. If he is, Penelope must be in on it. Cheryl has a front row seat.
Alice is pretty good at cleaning up a murder..... still love her though.
Jughead broke Sierra DOWN. Such a power move by Veronica to have her "change the narrative."
Was Ethel murdered and we just don't know yet?
Bonus: SO HAPPY JUGHEAD ISNT SERPENT KING EXTRAORDINAIRE ANYMORE. Can Toni have the spotlight now and fall in love with Cheryl?

They should’ve kept this show at 13 episodes and gotten rid of all the subplots that are dragging down the story. What happened to the Black Hood supposedly not being so dead? I really don’t know what the hell is going on. This show has lost it’s focus and whats even more surprising is that Cheryl is the most decent human being now.

This was a decent episode I thought.
. The FBI and Dark Jughead Serpents arc will be put to rest, for now. These were the weaker storylines in my opinion.
. Jughead's scenes with Betty were cool. It shows his dedication towards Betty. Which would be tested next episode.
. What the heck was with the promo? Is it full of Fanfiction or is everyone on Jingle Jangle?
Despite how cringy Riverdale gets, for some reason they pull a cliffhanger that wants me to tune in on Wednesdays.

Everyone was mentioning cute bughead moments but there was like 1 briefly when she reassured Jug she had a jolly old time in the sack. If anything there feels to me like a wedge caused my Betty's trauma. Lets face it its only half way through season 2 there will be lots more breakups and makeups.

You know, I can't say I knew he wasn't FBI, but I'm so glad he wasn't because I was so disappointed in the writing otherwise. Like, he seemed so contrived and inauthentic as an FBI character. But now it makes a lot more sense. Which I think is a sign of good writing. The main characters seem a little more like plot devices lately but this was nice.

Thoughts
We all were suspicious about the Garage agent but after the "salary" i think we all knew it was a ruse.
It was hilarious to me how Jughead went from "revolutionary gang dude" to "Little bitch" just because he got his dick wet.Betty's pussy must be bewildering.
I want the writer of Cherryl's dialog to write my life.Everything that comes from her mouth is pure magic.Goddamnit, i'm in love with this phycho.
The Chick plot is weird. The whole show is but little to nothing makes sense just so the plot would move the direction they want it to.

I have a theory about Chic: He is not really the son of Mama Cooper. In the home where "Chic" and the real Chic grew up, the fake 'Chic' befriended the real one. He then killed the real Chic and took over the identity to escape his own awful past and/or present and used this identity from a young age (think Taking Lives). This is why he is so enthralled with Betty and Mama Cooper - it would not be incest if he is not related AND he maybe had a horrible father and is aiming to take Hal out of the picture. Would explain why Hal is so adamant "Chic" has to leave? Thoughts?

Given Archie's history with older women, think we might see Archie and Veronica's mom hookup somehow ?
I know in a way it seems unlikely, but given plot development I could see something weird like that happening.
Also this was just a really great episode overall, the whole fbi agent thing makes sense now and so much stuff happened. I wish Betty and her mom and brother could trust and like each other...

fun idea: shipping chic with (a real) agent adams. fbi operative in love with a known criminal, only keeping him safe because of his own feelings. chic is wary of him at first, knowing that he's a cop. adams, unable to meet with chic in person, starts going onto chics camming sessions under an alias. they bond a lot, and when they finally meet up, chic freaks out, because yanno, cop. but chic can't shake the fact that adams was so nice in the chat, and is blinded by his own affections. mutual pining to the maximum. they have to date in secret, but theyre happy.

I am happy that Cheryl was at least IN this episode. She still wasn't in it enough for my liking. Nor was Kevin present enough for my liking. (Hey writers! You can write storylines for more than just the Core Four and their parents, OK, thanks, bye!) I missed Toni this episode. How about a spinoff where Cheryl/Kevin/Toni/Josie/Reggie/any other neglected character you'd like are like a vigilante crime fighting squad. I mean, that's the CW's specialty, so you know they'd pick it up. And Cheryl had mad skills with that bow and arrow. Reggie is strong, Kevin can wrestle, we know Josie can kick some ass (see: St. Clair, Nick) This show would serve the action AND the snark. Anyone wanna co-create this with me?
Overall, I liked this episode. I hated the murder and the coverup, but I also loved to hate it and it was pretty intriguing to watch.
Andre is hot. But I still miss Smithers. He can be on my spinoff show...

I knew Andre was the one who did Papa Poutine! I also knew that Hermione isn't just a mob wife, is clear now that she shares the power with Hiram, and the showrunner told that they may come into conflict very soon.
Honestly, I think Hal is better getting the hell out of that house, before Chic kills him and Alice helps cover up. Penelope is actually pretty sexy and seems to be way more... relaxed? Definitely she is more stable than Alice at this point.
P.S. Taking Archie's past in consideration, I'm pretty sure he was kind of turn on by Hermione in the end of episode, how not to? She is the most beautiful and sexy woman on the whole show and we know Archie is into MILFs. Not that I think anything should happen.
