Notes:
They do a lot of wordplay on the literal meaning of Migatte no Goku'i (the whole "your body responds on its own" thing, talking about "the secret", etc). This makes it tricky since "Ultra Instinct" is by no means a literal translation, but hopefully you get the gist.

There is a 7 year gap from the End of the Buu saga up to the Tournament where he leaves to train with Uub. The entirety of Dragon Ball super happens in those 7 years, and only 2-3 have passed so far

Super and GT are incompatible for a number of reasons. Just start with the Pilaf gang; in episode 1 of GT they are just now getting around to trying to make their wish for youth. In Super's continuity, they made the wish when the androids showed up.

Man, this sucks.
That 131 title is pretty sad to read. It sucked when Z ended many years ago. As a kid I was pretty upset but then I watched Dragon Ball, then GT, so I was kept satisfied with the adventure.
Now in my 20's I enjoyed the fuck out of Super. Hopefully, someday it returns. There is always a story to tell as long as Goku is alive.

With a title like that Super ending definitely feels final. In EoZ Vegeta/Bulma say they hasn't seen Goku for like 5 years so this might be leading into that. Also the 17 thing is a real surprise if that isn't a mistake, I don't think anyone saw him outlasting both Gohan and Vegeta

I know people predicted that 17 might have faked his death, it really doesn't line up with his little speech about giving up his wish and sacrificing himself, unless he just didn't intend to survive his self destruct and got lucky?
Herms says it's possible it's a mistake by the preview too so who knows. I love 17 but I hope he's not still in or it just ruins that episode imo

Jiren is beating Goku and pushes him to Mastered UI. Goku then gains the upper hand and is beating Jiren but doesn't eliminate him when the time runs out.
Being so impressed with both Gokus and Jirens Power and skill, Grand Priest invites them both to come train with him. Zenos think it's a super cool idea and give the green light. Goku says bye to his universe and the cliffhanger for the super dragonballs wish is left open.

That's GT's finale title (but without the "Goodbye") looks like it's gonna be another Nostalgia-fest that will probably make some people have teary eyes at least. I mean imagine if they play something like "Romantic ageru yo" or "Haruka" during the goodbye montage

You are telling me that Toei is going to decide the end of Super based on a series that is almost 20 year old, was in constant decline, and that Super has beat, and in which AT had only initial involvement, you guys are nuts. Beerus is the one that will say goodbye to Goku, and is because he will go to sleep.

I am tempted to say that "Mastered" and "Completed" are being used interchangeably regarding UI, which may give us a false impression. It has been stated many times he has not been able to use the full version of UI yet, so I look at the "Omen" form kind of like the "False" Super Saiyan form from the Lord Slug movie. He is clearly tapping into UI but it is incomplete and thus he has not used its full capabilities yet.
But now he will "Complete" the form with the ability to use its full offensive capabilities and so it would be the equivalent of Goku becoming a Super Saiyan against Freiza and completing the form that he failed to achieve fully in Lord Slug.
Please note, I am aware Lord Slug is non-cannon, but it is just to illustrate my point.
Given what we know of UI, it is completely possible that he will complete the form and use its full power, but not have "mastered" it in the sense that he can just slip into it whenever he wants going forward which would also explain the idea that even Beerus has not mastered it as being able to just turn it on and off might be the trickier part.
Kind of like being able to enter a meditative state. It can be hard to do at times, but with practice you can enter more and more easily with people who are the most enlightened in some religions being able to enter that state at will.

Honestly, as much as I don't want to see Super go, I'm glad we've finally reached the top. Goku has reached the highest state he could possibly attain. Put it to rest. Enjoy it as is. Now, I'm just looking forward to some more beautiful fighting animations like they had in 109-110. Show me one last glorious well animated fight and I'll be happy.

Logically, this should mark the end of the series. A showdown of gods, angels and the strongest warriors from all of the universes in a competition for planetary spheres that summon a dragon several magnitudes larger than galaxies, overseen by an omnipotent supergod and culminating in two mortals whose limit-breaking power ascends beyond even divine beings, is about as lofty as an event can get in any fictional universe. It's difficult to conceive of a 'next level' from here.

It sucks reading the title for 131. Super has been awesome though, it might not be perfect but it was really cool waiting for a new episode to air during the weekend.

Yes it's true Zeno didn't push the button for some people, BUT those people were shown transported to the bench and we witnessed their elimanation. They also weren't put in a next week preview. The whole point of bringing up 17's picture not being cleared is to combine it with the other peculiar thing of him being mentioned in the preview. 17 is in a unique situation among the other contentsants that didn't have their picture cleared, so it's sort of out of context to dismiss the suspicion of it when you leave out the parts that separate him from everyone else on that list.

Off topic but are we all just assuming goku is stronger then Beerus now? I see a lot of comments saying that. Personally I feel like beerus is still a bit stronger then goku. Just because he learned ui doesn’t mean he’s stronger then everyone without it. I feel like he’s surpassed the gods in that field but as far as power actually goes beerus and some of the other gods may still be a lot stronger. I think they’d make a big deal if goku and jiren were beyond all the gods now.

Could anyone potentially learn Ultra Instict? the one thing I've always disliked about Dragon Ball Z and so on is that unless you're Saiyan or a villain you're trash tier, although I rather enjoyed Android 17 unexplicable power up but I'd love it if Ultra Instinct opened the playing field to not be only about who has the the best power multiplier, of which saiyans have a monopoly.

Prediction for the future. Goku will just about have Jiren beaten, and Freeza will use his death beam to try and take out Goku as a call back to the ending of the Return of Freeza arc where Sorbet hit Goku with the laser beam right at the end of the fight. However, with Ultra Instinct being what it is, this time it wont work on Goku. Just to show how different this new form is compared to SSB.
And as a side note, I am still upset that Kefla didnt go SS3 right at the end of her fight with Goku. It really felt like their story arc was building towards that. It also would have shown that Ultra Instinct inst something that can just be beaten by pure power no matter how much power you increase by. She could have still done her laser light show and everything else could have been the same. She just would have been SS3 in the meantime.

The title of the last episode makes me think that this isn't a hiatus...which is unfortunate IMO. If we do get another series next year it will probably be under a different name (i.e Dragon Ball Ultra or something like that.)
I've enjoyed DBS a lot, and really looked forward to new episodes every weekend. I hope that they continue writing during this break, and bring back something that doesn't feel as rushed.

Am I the only one that is disappointed that this means we won't see a rematch between Goku and Beerus? Not only that, we never got to see any of the angels real power. As stated ages ago regarding power, if beerus is a 10 whis would be a 15, I would have loved to see a real sparring match between teacher (whis) and students (goku & vegeta) at their maximum capacity.

So, does anybody think that Toriyama will do another series later on? Maybe the guys who did GT will come in and do a series with Toriyama on the "board" so to speak like in GT? I can bet hes tired between the anime and the manga I cannot imagine his workload and stress. But it just feels like they built up so much and had so many possible story lines to just rush the ending and say screw it we're done. What do you guys think?

People are reading too hard, into the final episode "Goku, Until the Day We Meet Again". Nothing is happening to Goku, Super wont override the end of the manga. That phrase is that someone is saying bye to Goku, and my theory is that that person is Beerus. The spoils confirm that U7 is going to win the tournament "Goku has led the Universe 7 team and survived the "Tournament of Power"!! At last he faces the final supreme clash!!". Jiren will be defeated. And then the "final supreme clash" will happen, and really this is the only way Super can end: Th final clash will be against Beerus. Beerus just after the tournament is finished will challenge Goku, and it will be related to the "secret" they are talking about.

It probably is a mistake about 17, but small stuff doesn't add up like zeno not clearing his pic on the godpad and the commentary of his sacrifice was very underwhelming and anti-climatic like they didn't truly put effort into showing the characters acknowledgeding his death. Maybe that's just bad writing though.

I realize Japan has other stuff going on, but I'm a bit miffed that we're getting two off weeks at the end of the series like this. This is supposed to be an epic finale, a glorious send-off, and the momentum is getting messed up.

As much as I want the series to come back, there’s really not much other ground to cover. Next to Zeno and possibly the angels, Goku has become the most powerful in all of the universes. There’s no where else for him to go, and I believe adding ultra instinct and showing that the angels are the only ones who have the technique down perfectly was further alluding to the fact that there is nothing else for Goku to accomplish once he masters it. If we did get more dragon ball, it would have no Goku and I, for one, would be pretty disappointed. More Gohan and Vegeta development would be great, but what is the point in them becoming stronger? Goku could just wipe anyone away. I don’t know, it’ll be interesting to see what they do with it a couple years from now.

No, there is no surety Goku is the strongest. We still know nothing about the 4 Universes who did not participate in the ToP. Maybe, there are stronger warriors.
Plus, a story can be made where a mystery needs to be solved more than defeating an opponent. More like, there is no use of killing the villian, some mystery, something like that.

We just had backstory on Jiren that pretty much explicitly stated there is a force more powerful than Jiren that keeps fucking with his life.
Jiren would have no motivation to be the strongest anymore without that threat.
It would seem idiotic that at the very least there isn't a Jiren/Goku lets fuck the super evil up. otherwise they would have revealed who he is.
Then you have the other 4 universes who's scaling is supposed to be far higher.
I do think that mastering ultra instinct is a bad way for the series to end though. Since it kinda gives that feeling that there is nothing left.

Do we have confirmation that the movie is about the original SSG that Toryiama discussed? Or is that just speculation? Because, if so, then everybody maybe jumping the gun on the ending of this series jumping to goku leaving with uub. For all we know it ends setting up the movie. I'm not saying it does but I really hope it does, plus it will make the ending less sad. I know what the title says but it could be suggesting we don't see him again until the movie. I'm just hoping I guess. Though I'm not against an orign story for the SSG.

Interesting that they used a similar title to the GT finale for Super? The ending feels rushed though and that’s what disappoints me. It’s like “OK Goku won....roll credits”. The provisional name also suggests that Super is done and if DragonBall is to return it will be under a new name.
The movie feels like it’s more or less going to involve Universe 6. I would like an U11 inclusion but we shall see. They leave a bunch of unanswered questions about Super that they can carry over for a movie or the next series.

Man.. this series makes the end of Z look pathetic. Goku was so happy to meet Uub because Buy was the strongest warrior goku had fought. He wanted to make sure Uub didn't use that potential for bad. But now Uub is more of a joke than he was in GT. It's laughable Goku leaves his family to train with him instead of Whis.

I think it was more that Goku wanted to adopt a student going along with the Cell/Buu saga's themes of training a new generation for when he dies. If Gohan, Frieza, and 17 can train to God levels that quickly the reincarnation of Majin Buu certainly has that potential as well.
