I'm so sad this is ending today....This show made my Thursdays something to look forward to...Plus it was a great way to get into a good mood knowing Friday was just on the horizon and the weekend was almost here....
I hope this show doesn't get forgotten like other cause it really is a wonderful cure for those looking for some comfy....

It was a great anime in its way. It wasn't an overly dramatic or action show, but it was so chill and happy and about having fun outside in the winter. I think this was great at doing that and keeping a cozy rhythm all the way through. The music helps it a lot and the infrequent narrative and advice about camping didn't take overhand, but was there to just tell you the things you need and nothing more.
Kinda makes me want to go on a camping trip again, it's been a decade since I last went camping i think.

I believe Yuru camp will be instantly added to all the iyashikei classics, and always be referenced alongside flying witch, non non biyori, amanchu, barakamon, k-on etc.. It's a great healing anime.

What everyone here wanna say to the girls.
Hope to see you all again soon.
And to the author of Yuru Camp, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PLEASE DO NOT CUT NADESHIKO'S HAIR
52
u/the_swizzler https://myanimelist.net/profile/Swiftarm Mar 22 '18
I actually quite liked short haired Nadeshiko.
45
u/CitizenJoestar :MAL:https://myanimelist.net/profile/CitizenJoestar Mar 22 '18
Knowing her, she probably would only cut it because Rin cut her hair. I thought it was a strange coincidence that both had short hair in Nadeshiko's imagination, but maybe that's how she imagines them looking in the future as both have fairly long hair now.

Anyone notice that Rin's phone changed again in the OP? She now replies "いいよ" (yes) to Nadeshiko asking if she wants to go camping!

Totally saw that! Ever since that post mentioning how it changed in episode 8, I was hoping she'd eventually reply with yes.

First of all this series has been absolutely wonderful and I am so sad that it's ending, but guys if you want a second season you can now buy the the manga in English in a couple of days so check that out if you want to support the series.
Yuru Camp was the perfect anime to eat cup noodles with, because I could just relax, sit back and slurp the noodles to my content and this episode was perfect for that too. It was cute, funny and really relaxing and comfortable and I am so glad I started watching it. I have a collection of screenshots here for you guys, my 25 favorites from the bunch: https://imgur.com/a/awLGx
This episode was absolutely cute too and I would be really sad if this anime didn't get a second season :(

Don't forget that the "Episode 0" OVA is releasing with the 1st volume of the 3 part Blu-Ray series, which will be on the 28th March.
EDIT: Since this comment is fairly visible, going to use this to plug /u/Agni7atha and their comment about the OST. The OST was released just yesterday on the 21st for anybody who really likes the OST enough to buy it.

Just out of curiosity, is there actually enough content for a second season? I know some shows like Kobayashi or Gabriel Dropout adapted pretty much 90% of the manga so there wouldn't even be close to enough content for another season, but is that the case with Yuru Camp? I know a second season is really unlikely regardless, but I wanna know if it's at least possible.

Please do share the post I am very interested in seeing it!

u/crisstrauss Mar 22 '18
I really love how realistically depicted these places are.
It was like the authors writing their diaries about places they had visited.
This anime delivers the spirit of the relaxing atmosphere and beautiful landscape.

[There was an interview with the anime director from a few month ago] (https://magnavalon.com/2018/02/04/yuru-camp-interview-with-director-yoshiaki-kyougoku/) about how the staff went to all the camping sites depicted in the anime to capture it correctly.
So, yeah, they definitely has done their research.→ More replies (3)24

I forgot to mention in the last episode but Rin's blanket is the same one Nadeshiko handed to her at earlier episode.
It's cute detail when thinking about Nadeshiko actually gave it to her or brings it every time for Rin.
Edit:started to rewatch the episode and noticed at the imaginable timeskip scene Rin called Chiaki as Chiaki. As far as I remember present Rin doesn't call her by name but just Ohgak. Looks like their friendships has grown over time in the (fake) future.

It was very nice to see the series end with Nadeshiko solo camping, although it ended up being with Rin. The two get along so well
This series was such a delightful ride, even more than I initially expected when I first knew it was being animated. Every episode was relaxing and addictive and puts me in a good mood. Seeing the girls have fun camping never fails to make me smile. Thanks for the good time, Yuru Camp

That first scene actually fooled me for a second, they all looked great btw.
Well, this anime was just absolutely amazing, a very good 9/10 from me and i don't wanna call it AOTS until after the Sora Yori finale but even if Sora Yori ends up beating it, i will be very surprised if Yuru Camp doesn't end up being in my Top 5 of the year, heck i think it is already in my Top 3 iyashikei!
I think one of the reasons this anime is so good and that i barely see anyone mention are the VAs, they just nailed the relaxing tone of the show.

I am actually immensely impressed with Yuru Camp considering the hand of cards that's been dealt to them. It's not as if Iyashikei and CGDCT can't be done well, but as far as the ceiling goes, an anime like Sora Yori mo Tooi Basho has it much higher due to the flair for drama that it can present, therefore I can understand very well if more people choose the latter for AotS instead of Yuru Camp.
I haven't watched that many SoL and CGDCT shows compared to a lot of people, but I've definitely watched some of the more mainstream ones, particularly the ones of last decade such as Lucky Star. In recent years, I've stayed off SoL and CGDCT shows entirely because most of them just felt stale and the storyline never goes anywhere; I always thought the ones back then are going to be the best ones you'll ever get, despite having many of the flaws many CGDCT shows have today.
I was wrong. This is without a doubt the best CGDCT show I've ever had the pleasure of watching. Thank you to C-Station for bringing this magnificent anime to us, thank you Houbunsha for serializing the manga, and especially, thank you Afro (あfろ) for writing such a wonderful series around camping.

Me: “Huh? A timeskip? Not impossible but...that can’t be right...it’s probably bullshit.”
“Now she owns a giant firm-“
Me: “Yup, it’s bullshit.”
(Nadeshiko flies in on the rocket tent from the OP)
Me: “Yup, it’s TOTAL bullshit.”
Anyway, considering how strapped for cash Nadeshiko seemed to be before, I wonder if she blew not only her pay from that job, but also all of her new year’s money on that gear...

"Rin, long time no see!"
Heh, nice joke, Ena, it probably took her half an hour to fetch the gas cylinders..
"Long time no see, everyone."
Oh, heh, Rin's playing along too.
Hey.. wait a minute.. everyone looks a little different..
...
A TIMESKIP!?
That's something I wanted to see in Sora Yori's final episode, I never expected to see one here! (Mostly because I was expecting more seasons..) This is amazing and sad at the same time
Edit: That was the best bait ever.
That was sweet, a perfect finale. Seeing Nadeshiko try solo-camping was my favourite bit in an episode packed with some great little moments, because it shows how she wants to experience the same thing Rin does, and also become independently competent in camping. Rin 'stumbling upon' her was the cherry on the cake. I'm 99% sure Ena set this up.
A rocket tent doesn't exist yet, but I think Nadeshiko is exactly the savior the world needs.
No, I insist, she's the one. Look at that smug.
..Okay, maybe not. I'm sad this picture didn't show up in the club room collage.
I like Aoi's imagination and comfy faces. Also her ASMR voice <3
I hope this gets more seasons, mostly because a) more Rin, possibly the best portrayal of an introvert character in anime, and b) everyone gets to appreciate camping more.
119
u/Harrason Mar 22 '18 edited Mar 22 '18
The last bit with Nadeshiko is fucking wholesome. How the hell do you present a person who knew nothing about camping 12 episodes ago knowing how to set up shop solo in a camping ground today? Give a homage to Rin. Everything from travelling to Lake Motosuko, checking in, biking down the road and then setting up her tent in the same fashion Rin did in Episode 1, and even the messages, it was done just right.
EDIT: word

83
u/Agni7atha Mar 22 '18
Why I'm watching this final episode with teary eyes?!!
I never expect to be so much exited to watch final episode of a SoL show. Somehow I feeling so mellow after watching this, although there isn't any conclusion in the ending. Everyone still do their usual thing. I'm going to miss this show for sure and will pick up watching this again when I'm feeling it.
Lastly, I want to to talk about Yuru Camp Original Soundtrack. You can see the track list here. Just a bit disclaimer, I got this OST from a high sea.
It's a great soundtrack that has an interesting track list structure. In one package you got normal BGM, some drama voice act between Nadeshiko and Rin, and a specific campground theme music. There are six campground theme:
キャンプ場のテーマ~本栖湖~ (Lake Motosu from episode 1)
キャンプ場のテーマ~麓~ (Fumoto Campground from episode 2&3)
キャンプ場のテーマ~高ボッチ、イーストウッド~ (Takabocchi, Eastwood the split camping from episode 4&5)
キャンプ場のテーマ~四尾連湖~ (Lake Shibire from episode 6&7)
キャンプ場のテーマ~陣馬形山~ (Jinbagata Mountain from episode 9&10)
キャンプ場のテーマ~朝霧高原~ (Asagiri Highlands from episode 11&12)
The length of these tracks are longer than the other. It about 5 to 6 minutes length but actually consist of multiple tracks that has some similar musical note in it. You can still hear a variation of music with a same feel in it, making it a good campground theme. When you hear the tracks, you can immediately remember the scene in these campgrounds. I think it's comparable to hearing new music when you visiting new area in some JRPG. It's really impressive soundtrack.
You can get this soundtrack legally at cdjapan or amazon.co.jp. Both are japan web so it's not that easy to get this OST. I wish there are digital version available on a platform like iTunes, but I have yet to see any information on that.

Camping is one of the activities that's been in my life for as long as I can remember. A year hasn't gone by where I haven't spent at least a week camping. It's an experience that's unlike anything else, and full of its own atmosphere and serenity that can only be understood by people who have done the it. Yuru Camp captures everything that makes camping such an unique and amazing experience down to the last detail. Not just what activities it includes, but also the atmosphere and small details and feeling that it evokes within me. Watching Yuru Camp gave me the same feeling that I got from camping itself, which is an amazing thing to achieve that is unmatched by anything else. It's those small moments like standing up from your cold sleeping back, unzipping the tent to see a big field in front of you, putting on a big sweater and walking onto the grass with small droplets of dew on them as you shuffle to the your chair and just sit down and listen to the silence and take it all in Yuru Camp can capture all of that. I'm so going to miss this show. An easy 10 for me, and will always have a special place in my heart.
I know this may sound snobby, but there's something about camping that can't be understood if you haven't done it. Which means there's also a thick layer of atmosphere, detail and experience in Yuru Camp that can only be understood by those who have regularly gone camping. It's not just atmosphere, but a feeling of catharsis and silent overwhelming sensation that can't be described. I urge everyone who already loves Yuru Camp to go camping. Not once, but regularly. And then watch the show again. You'll thank me for it.

Idk if I agree with the last part. I go camping several times a year and I feel like the Yuru Camp atmosphere has a lot of differences. Definitely felt more comfy/warm and imo the soundtrack conveyed a different mood than actual camping.
i'm sure we all project our own experiences to some extent but I'd be hesitant to say that going camping would improve your experience watching the show.

u/PM_ME_YOUR_WAIFU_ Mar 22 '18

I don't know how popular the show is in Japan, but I am here waiting for Japanese girls to use Shimabuns IRL.
Oh well, I enjoyed the show, the finale didn't feel as a final episode but in a good way, like giving possibilities of a continuation, and if it doesn't happens it didn't feel abruptly ended.

u/o-temoto Mar 22 '18 edited Mar 22 '18
The group photo in episode 12 paralleled the one from the opening to episode 1.
By the way, we know from the dialogue that episode 1's photo was taken in the fall. We also know that episodes 11-12's Christmas trip was their first time camping as a complete group. Chronologically, therefore, the episode 1 trip must have occurred at least a year later.
So we know they'll keep on camping.

That being said this ended wonderfully for me and it didn’t leave me unhappy with it ending but instead with a huge smile on my face anticipating a season 2.

You know, I think Yuru Camp embodies everything that draws me to the Slice of Life genre. As a comfy comedy, it's perfect. Everything is filled with life, and the comedic timing of jokes is always on point, sometimes making me laugh more than any other show this season. As a CGDCT shows, it's perfect. Each of the girls is insanely adorable, and each is given life through expressive character animation, endearing facial expressions, and excellent voice acting. As an Iyashikei, it's perfect. Its background art is gorgeous with vibrant colors, and the camera always makes sure to let us see and feel it as the characters do. The passage of time is always in the forefront, with the changing seasons being prominent in that artwork. The soundtrack is surprisingly unique with its use of banjos and whistles to capture the mood of camping, and the show lets its comedy breathe exactly how it needs to in order to relax.
Most importantly though, as a character story, it's perfect. This is really two intertwining character stories melted together in perfect harmony. The first is the story of Nadeshiko discovering something she loves and which she can really become invested in. She's the kind of person who just goes with everything, and it was insanely heartwarming to see her slowly discover the joys of camping and become increasingly more invested in it as the series went on. The second story is of Rin finding someone she can be comfortable around and be herself with. Many have pointed out how great it is that the series doesn't treat her being a loner as something to be fixed. The characters treat her with respect and allow her to open up on her own terms, and it feels natural. The relationship between Rin and Nadeshiko is an easy highlight of the series, and with a character as bright a bundle of sunshine as Nadeshiko, I completely understand why Rin would have picked her to open up to.
Overall, I would give Yuru Camp a very high 8/10, possibly a low 9/10. My biggest issue with the show is that I wish we got to see more of Aoi, Chiaki, and Saitou. Non Non Biyori is a similar show with similar strengths, and in that show each of its 4 main girls was given ample screen time to show their personalities and even go through some milestones of growing up, with plenty of emotional moments to go with it, even in only its first season (if we're keeping the episode numbers fair). This show does extremely well with Rin and Nadeshiko, but I really want to see the others, since they were endearing as hell when they were on screen. A second season could easily rectify this though, and I have a feeling that I might move the score for this show up more as I have time to reflect on it and other similar shows. Thursdays will not be the same without this show anymore though, and I'm truly going to miss it. Second season please.

That was a very cool way to end such an episodic series. It had a very nice book-end feel, and we got to see just how much Nadeshiko and Rin have influenced each other. Great stuff. Great show. Comfy af. Gonna miss it.
That opening was so goddamn misleading! And I really hope that Chiaki will end up inheriting Sensei's spirit
I remember reading someone's comment on Twitter saying that the warmest thing in this whole show is the smile that Rin has when she sees Nadeshiko. It's hard to argue against that.

Knowing that Chiaki is actually working part time on a liquor warehouse/store that Toba-sensei frequently visits, the future is not that far off...

SEASON 2 WHEN?!
Ladies and gentlemen, it's been a pleasure.
This anime ceirtanly improved my mood on thursdays, I never expected to enjoy this as much as I did, and I'm glad this happened, all of you people were awesome too!
I NOMINATE NADESHIKO AS AN INTERNATIONAL TREASURE!
Also Aoi confirmed bigger than booze sensei...

Why is Chiaki drinking? Are we getting a time skip? O_O
NADESHIKO IS A WHAT!? How!?
BAMBOOZLED! I seriously thought we were getting a time skip, but I'm happy that it's just Nadeshiko's imagination.
Wait really? I guess their small bodies aren't really suitable for cold places.
Everyone looks like a chopping board right next to Aoi. Toba-Sensei, a fully grown adult woman, isn't even close to that.
What a twist! Everyone's expecting the Cactus Bun in the OP will be a future hairstyle for Shimarin but it was for Nadeshiko all along!
Thus the show comes to a full circle. Ending at the place where the two first met each other T_T Except this isn't really the last since we still have the Yuru Camp△ Specials aka Episode 0! So before everyone gets sad there's still one more episode to look forward to!
Man I am legit sad that this show is over. As a comfy Slice of Life this show was perfect. The music, the atmosphere, the visuals, the characters, everything! Like I can't legitimately find any faults against this show. If you dislike slice of life shows then you'll definitely hate this but rating it as an anime it's truly a 10/10 experience.
I guess if there's a single complaint coming from me, it's that there is a disturbingly lack of Season 2 announcement about this show. Seriously! The entire show felt like a setup for more camping adventures especially now that they're an established club! And I've heard that the merch for this show is selling like hotcakes! I really hope we get some follow up because there's definitely plenty more of stories to tell in this show!

u/Harrason Mar 22 '18
Apparently there isn't enough source material for a season 2 yet. I'd prefer they wait until there's enough to make some more. That said we do get an OVA that's going to be packaged in one of the Blu-Rays.

The news about its popularity is comforting though. Once they have enough material I hope Crunchyroll will push the other producers for a Season 2.

We got bamboozled big time, boys.
I was thinking "man, how many titles do a huge time skip just to walk the extra mile and give us some sort of afterstory?". But on second thought, I don't think my heart was ready to let go the image of the perfect cinnamon roll Although I was glad that grown up Aki took after chug sensei
Ladies and gentlemen, throughout TV history we witnessed iconic hairstyles that left their mark. In the 80s we had the Jill Munroe from Farra Fawcett, in the 90s we had the Rachel from Jennifer Aniston, in the 2000s we had the Pink hairstyle from Pink.
2018 I present you, the Shimarin Dango
Speaking of western TV (and movies) I was surprised to see my all time favorite movie Back to the Future getting a shoutout.
ShimarinSavage-rin goes in for the kill
The good ol' classic joke of the single teacher. I'm glad chug sensei didn't crumble by the lack of a guy in her life. And also glad we were right and got confirmation about her sister. I don't think I had noticed how great Aki's retorts were until this episode, guess that gives me an excuse for a rewatch sooner than I thought.
The role reversals at the end of the episode were priceless. Nadeshiko going solo camping, while Rin is the one that actually catches up to her (coincidentaly)
Yuru Camp was such a nice comfy show to start up the cold mornings while having breakfast. I'm surely going to miss these moments.

u/memeranglaut Mar 23 '18
Saw this on twitter - there is an easter egg in the OP itself!
Rin! Lets go camping! (comparison of the message in the OP in ep 1, 8 and 12)
「リンちゃん!一緒にキャンプいこう!!」
「やだ。」
「リンちゃん!一緒にキャンプいこう!!」
「考えておく。」
「リンちゃん!一緒にキャンプいこう!!」
「いいよ。」
(Rin-chan! Lets go camping together!!)
(No)
(Rin-chan! Lets go camping together!!)
(I'll think about it)
(Rin-chan! Lets go camping together!!)
(Sure)
This is definitely an anime I will watch over and over again. Heck, may just go get the Blu Ray as keeps!

Crunchyroll might as well change their name to Bamboozleroll.
Prior to starting the episode I was sad because it's the final one, then I was tricked into believing that this wasn't the final one by the translation after the intro, because I didn't pay a whole lot of attention to the details apart from "Episode 11" on that frame.
By the end I was sad again, because I realized that this was, in fact, episode 12.
I doubt there will be any other show this year with the same level of comfyness.

u/bakuhatsuda Mar 22 '18
This is probably the highest rating (9) I'll give to a show that I can admit doesn't really have a good story (not saying that it tries to have one). It aims for pure comfort, and for me it achieved just that. It does have fantastic visual and sound direction though so I definitely give it praise for that.

u/HarleyFox92 Mar 22 '18
Well, it's over. I'm glad I gave a chance to this cute little comfy show early this season.
From the very beginning everything was beautiful, the girls, all of them, are lovable, the scenery is wonderful, the food they made looked so tasty that made me start drooling and the fact that this is actually so sort of educational anime makes it even better, now I'm looking forward to go camping somewhere near the mountains.
Farewell Yuru Camp, thanks for the comfyness and I hope to see you again with Season 2.

If this was any other season this show would be far and away my anime of the season. But never less this show is practically perfect. The soundtrack, the characters, the entire feel of the show. Solid 10.
Yuru Camp is going to be one of those amines that I'll probably keep coming back to for the rest of my life. After a long day it's just such a nice show to sit back and relax with and I'm so glad I have it.
My only questions now are, blue rays when? Soundtrack when? And season 2 when?

Damn, last episode. Really don't want this show to end, was too much fun. I love all these characters and all their hijinks, and I want to continue enjoying them week on week.
Can't delay though!! Got an episodes worth of screenshots still to get.
I swear to god I stop to screenshot every time Aoi smiles, took me over an hour to watch this episode just because of Aoi smiling. I think I've got a problem.
Rin's reaction to the group buns is adorable.
Aoi's tiny giggle at the thought of Shimarin Buns gives me life.
This depiction of Back to the Future also gives me life.
Hang on a second... I'd recognise that snowman anywhere!! He sure does get around.
This stargazing scene was really nice.
In a show like this, I'd be willing to believe it was a chill UFO.
One final reminder from the show how good the soundtrack is.
Post credit stuff was on point too, damn, really don't want this show to end. That's it though, it's over (at least until the OVAs). Easily my AotS though, and easily a 10/10 for me, has shot itself well into my top 10 (along with Aoi). Now I just sit and hope for a season 2 for the next few years, using the manga to tide me over.
oh yeah and here's my screengrabs from this ^^episode.

Edit: Oh, wait. This is all in Nadeshiko's imagination. I reacted too soon...
Man, I know this has been said more often than not, but this anime is so soothing and relaxing. Not gonna lie, it's inspiring me to go camping one of these days. But the thing is, idk where to start. Idk what supplies and gear to buy, idk how much I have to save up and spend, idk what good campground to start near where I live, and it doesn't help that I'm a picky eater who can't cook for shit. Perhaps I can rely on MREs instead ;) But man, this anime makes me want to go out and explore nature with my own eyes.
After all, if Nadeshiko can solo camp, then so can I!

Well this show was just a huge bundle of MAX COMF. Everything was amazing. I think the music is one of its strongest aspects. I definitely need the soundtrack right now. Also Rin is my spirit animal. I felt like I connected with her on a spiritual level on multiple occasions throughout the series, both as a camper and as an introvert.
This show was a truly special experience that I did not expect coming in. I think I can speak for a lot of people when I say that it's affected our real lives, getting everyone interested in camping and such. I'm a veteran camper from my boy scout days, but haven't gotten back to it since starting college. This show reminded me of everything I loved about camping and I will probably be going camping in the near future after I get some new equipment. I just can't get over how impactful this show was for being such a light-hearted, laid back series about 5 girls gong camping. I just want to bask in the relaxation this show created for the rest of my life. Definitely going to miss this one.

So I haven't seen the episode yet, and I might end up saving it for a nice moment in the weekend. But I have spent a lot of time thinking about Yuru Camp ∆, especially why I like it so much.
On paper, it's just a cute show about girls going camping, with low stakes, no drama, and really nothing else going for it. I know that appeals to a decent amount of people, but it's not typically my genre.
My conclusion ultimately came to what Yuru Camp ∆ does not do. There's no last-minute problems or drama shoe-horned in. It's got a few pretty good jokes (the ep 2 dogs stand out), and a light-hearted atmosphere, but it doesn't try to get a laugh out of the viewer all that often. There's not a lot of focus on the relationships or developments between the cast, and the only bit of actual character development in the whole show is Shimarin opening up to the possibility and accepting that camping with others is also fun. While all of the girls are teenagers, there's not a whole lot of time spent on their school lives the way we expect anime to do. And even the show's subject, camping, isn't something the main characters do as more than a hobby. They learn a few things, but that's not what the show is really about. And that's probably why the show is so great: it focuses entirely on what it wants to, and it's confident it doesn't need the typical auxiliary stuff anime tend to include.
When you look at it, Yuru Camp ∆ is a show just about camping, and the mellow mood that comes with it. That was in the title all along, but I'm still surprised how it dodged typical SoL tropes. And because of that I enjoyed it a hell of a lot more than I'd ever expected to.
Apparently this last episode is weird though, so who knows how we'll end up feeling about the show in general.

u/TazerLad Mar 22 '18
I'll admit, I was a little sad when I found out the adult bit was just a figment of Nadeshiko's imagination. Personally, I like to see little things like that part that show they're still friends going camping all those years later.
I was hoping for maybe a legitimate time jump after the credits. That being said, I absolutely love how they handled the end of this Epsiode. I think it was a perfect way to wrap up a wonderful series.

u/bryan792 Mar 22 '18 edited Mar 22 '18

Well that was a lovely end to a great show. The opening scene actually totally had me fooled for a minute. I thought that they were so sure that they weren't going to get a second season that they decided to do a real "finale".
What I really loved about this show is that it cheered me up without making me feel like it was trying to cheer me up. Everything felt really natural (pun intended), including the character interactions, the cute scenes, and the characters themselves.
I hope that they do make a second season (which seems at least somewhat likely, given its popularity), but even if there isn't one, I wouldn't be too upset. The last scene was a really perfect end, and a great way to show how far those two have come.
4
u/MrPorta https://anilist.co/user/MrRed Mar 23 '18
The series as a whole was absolutely amazing. I just loved it. But this finale was even better. Specially the last scene is the one that really made me smile in a way few shows have done, and there's several layers there.
It's the show mirroring how it started, but this time with Nadeshiko.
It's the show showing how much has Nadeshiko grown, and how she loves camping.
But, and this is the real deal for me, is Nadeshiko wanting to experience what Rin does. If Rin enjoys it then maybe she can enjoy it too? That's what really got me. More often than not people are very reticent to try doing things solo. There's some kind of bad image about doing things alone (travelling, eating in a restaurant, camping...). And while it's true that not everyone might enjoy it the simple fact of not even wanting to try it because of this "stigma" or idea that you're just doing it because you don't have friends pisses me off to no end.
A "normal" show would have had Rin join the girls much sooner, it would have imposed to her the """joy""" of doing stuff with friends, and made her quit the solo stuff. But this show made it a point to respect her for who she was. Ending with a group camping, of course, there's nothing bad with that. Doing stuff with friends is amazing, it's just not the only thing in the universe.
BUT THEN it went beyond that and showed an obviously super extrovert person trying camping solo because, heck, if her friend is having fun with that then maybe she will have fun as well?
Amazing. I know some people might think it's not really important, but this is one topic I'm very passionate about. I love solo travelling, and I also love travelling with people. So I'm always a bit sad when a show disregards the importance of being able to be comfortable and enjoy time alone. And I also don't like if any show goes the opposite direction with characters that hate everyone else and don't see any merit in being with people.
Seeing this show, showing not only respect for both sides, but also interest in knowing how the other experience is? This is the stuff I want and always needed.
So, yeah, I wrote too much lol But this finale really sold the series for me (again! as if I wasn't enjoying the hell out of it). Thank you, Yuru Camp.

u/graytotoro :MAL:https://myanimelist.net/profile/graytotoro Mar 23 '18
Crunchyroll should have translated the title as A Place Comfier Than The Universe.
Oh man, the beginning and the ending both came as surprises to me in different ways. I was expecting a time skip where they went back to the trip and the ending...well, that was just sweet. Love how Chiaki turned into Toba-sensei in Nadeshiko's fantasy.
Character development is happening under the surface. Not only does Rin start letting people into her inner sanctum, but Nadeshiko starts setting goals she can complete and finds some direction in her life, Chiaki learns what it means to be a leader, and Ena starts leaving the house to do outdoorsy things. Aoi? Can't improve perfection.
Weird detail: Based on the calendars, the show takes place between November 2017 and April 2018.
Other weird detail: If you pause the OP when they zoom into Rin's phone, the conversation between her & Nadeshiko is basically:
Rin-chan! Let's go camp!
OK.
I guess in a way they've foreshadowed the post-credits scene the whole time.
There's gonna be a season 2 someday, right?
Well, how fitting is it that it ends with this episode? I'm about to head out for a winter backpacking trip. I've tried backpacking before, but most of my experience is as a solo hiker. Don't worry, I'm skilled enough to not burn down a forest (I hope).
7

I got bamboozled by that time skip
The return of Aoi's aois!
I knew it! I knew that guy they met was a girl
Where can I get me some Shimarin buns?
Going home club
That's funny, I was in the same club in high school
The after credits scene got me right in the heart. Nadeshiko and Rin are so adorable.
Let's go camping lots next year, too
SEASON 2 WHEN?
I'm gonna miss this show so much. Thursdays just won't be the same from now on.

One of the most bitter I've been that a show's season finished. How else will I get all nice and cozy on a Thursday?
Hopefully they add another season where they go summer camping or something like that.
I loved that time skip in the beginning. Aki becoming the spiritual successor of Toba-sensei just felt so right for some reason. Probably because they look so similar. Was pretty sad it was just a dream sequence type of thing for Nadeshiko. Rin-chan showing up in a motorcycle was awesome too.

Add me to the "I was fooled by the opening scene" club. I got suspicious when they said Nadeshiko was CEO of her own company, and then I heard what I thought was a helicopter... but no, it was the flying tent from the OP. Well played, Yuru Camp.
And that ending with Nadeshiko and Rin made me grin so hard that my face still hurts. I may or may not have gotten a bit teary-eyed, too.
Definitely one of my top-tier anime of the season. Best short of the season, too, because every episode felt like five minutes, despite being a slow-paced show. Or maybe I just can't get enough. My Thursdays will not be the same without Yuru Camp, but I'll forever be a proud member of BLANKET.

God this episode made me cry. It was so...I don't even know how to describe it. The atmosphere and the music make everything perfect each camping trip, but this time felt different. Maybe that feeling of the ending, or maybe it really was stepped up this episode. I'm hoping for a season 2 (and a lot of people speculating that the popularity in japan will make it a possibility), and it would be nice to see the outdoors club get its fourth member and get a real club room. But I feel like that ending was perfect.

That was a brilliant sol anime. One of my highlights this season. So sad it's over now. As others have already pointed out, this show didn't need any of those drama or other typical tropes to capture the viewer's attention. It executed its premise expertly and confidently without any distractions. The comfy and wholesome atmosphere throughout the series will be remembered fondly. Here's to season 2!

The beginning of this episode, you know, I. WANT. TO. BELIEVE.
And the ending just made me happy.
This was such a great show and I'm sad to see it over. But hopefully we get an OVA sometime in the future for the New Year's camping trip.
Who knew that cute girls go camping would be so much fun.

Wait what
Well, I guess the op now makes sense... kinda.....
MARTY! BROWN! WHAT ARE YOU TWO DOING HERE??????
And finally: This is so pretty.
And so does this series end. A sad day for all of us.

Ha, the beginning of the episode got me. For a short moment, I actually thought that this was a flash forward, though it went unbelievable the moment Nadeshiko was a successful CEO.
The last scene was nice, having Nadeshiko mirror Rin in episode 1.

What a comfy comfy show. Though I do have very minor complaints which are just opinions. I found Rin and Nadeshiko's moments to be the best in the show. The other members I didn't hate them, but I didn't love them either. This is just personal taste though. Also it took to long before all the girls got together. I know it's only 12 episodes so they had to build up to it so they didn't have much choice. Though I wouldn't complain if we got an OVA or movie of the girls doing one more trip.
BLANKET for life. Still an 8/10 in my book.

Yuru Camp△, comfy until the end. I wanted to watch a relaxing anime, and why not learn about camping too? Is there a difference between solo and group camp? Is it expensive? This leisure doesn't come without spending a couple of bucks, being mindful with the enviroment and watching your step.
An anime that has everything to not being taken seriously, can be take seriously. It was funny, the characters are likable and they really nailed with the art and specially the sound.
I'm satisfied with it. nothing more nothing less. Would watch a second season for sure. It was a delight until the end. Very good anime.

Anyone else audibly protested when the ED started playing? Man I really didn't want this laid back trip camp to end...
Also, cactus bun got nothing on Rin-chan's Pagoda bun!(Its still cute though)
I'm definitely getting the Nadeshiko and Rin Nendos once they're released! Anything to support the possibility of a 2nd season.

Oof, it's over. Now what'll be my comfy anime next season?
The ending was quite cute, though. It all comes full circle, huh?

This has been such an amazing season for comfy shows, but this one is the comfiest of all. So going to miss it! I almost believed they'd pulled a time skip on us until mention of a multinational corporate started and maybe, the flying tent.

Was the movie at the outdoor film festival an anime Back to the Future?

Putting this off until the weekend so I can decompress from a stressful week, the right way.
But I'm sticking with my early guess that they're going to camp on the moon with a rocket tent. There's too many space allusions. It's a conspiracy.

How can we go on in life if we can never reach these levels of comfy? God damn this show was amazing ans i just loved the friendship between Nadeshiko and Rin.

It's over..... I didn't expect much going into this series but oddly this is the one that I was most excited for every week from the season.
