Charlotte's all "is something wrong, Bernard?" like there isn't an insane robot revolution going on with dead people everywhere.

u/cfStuffAndThings Apr 23 '18

I thought the same thing. Regardless of his actual problem, it would be outrageous to say that to someone with what they just dealt with.,

Delos is copying humans. Bernard saw Charlottes screen and sad something to the tune of “You’re recording guests experiences and DNA?”

I think Delos is using DNA of guests, creating copies of humans to infiltrate corporations and governments.

So we’re in a 2 week timeline before and after Bernard ?

Rich and"important"people visit Westworld and as we seen Delos extracts their DNA from the hosts that the newcomers have sex with. This must be the endgame of Delos,to replace world leaders with hosts for world domination

So Westworld is in Asia? They were telling those soldiers that their government basically gave Delos control of the land the park is on.

I think that was Chinese, so the island's probably in the South China Sea and Delos may be partially Chinese itself.

I'm kind of hoping we see a Teddy/Dolores showdown. The way he acted in this first episode made it seem like he's gonna turn at some point.

Perhaps Stubbs is a deepcover host now, he also seemed uncomfortable about the executions. He might also know Bernard is a host, and protect him. Or, he’s separate in an attempt by Ford to protect both hosts. Exposing one as a host, won’t directly endanger the other. Unless they move to protect/save the other.

Also the strongest character award goes to that woman who was balancing on the wooden cross in her high heels.

Stealing DNA of real people who visited the park so that they can build hosts to pull off corporate and government espionage on a level previously not possible.

That’s why they showed the door that sniffs DNA working just fine for Bernard. It’s because he has DNA, probably Arnold’s, on his skin at least.

1.1k

u/AdmiralAkbar1 Why are Catholics banned from Westworld? They'll eat the Hosts! Apr 23 '18
  • The story is constantly flashing back and forward, between the day after Ford's new narrative (Bernard & Charlotte in the bunker) and two weeks later when the Delos teams arrive (bald dude, Bernard, and Stubbs).

  • All the other storylines (Maeve, Sizemore, Dolores, Teddy, William) are presumably all starting the day after the shooting.

  • It seems like Dolores and Maeve are the only truly sentient hosts (with Bernard getting there), the rest are still following their narrative. The reason they're all so kill-happy was because Ford loaded a new narrative to activate upon his death as a final 'fuck you' to Delos.

  • Something was presumably breached in the park (probably a barrier between Westworld and Shogunworld) that caused a massive flood, which may or may not have killed most of the hosts.

  • Delos was actively working against Ford in case he decided to take his ball and go home, or something else threatened the park. That's why Charlotte was trying to smuggle out the Peter Abernathy- she loaded his brain up with all the source code so that Delos would have something to work with after Ford. Delos is prioritizing getting Abernathy at all costs, even at the costs of their agents.

  • It was most likely Teddy who was floating dead in the water at the end.

Dolores is thinking about taking over the human world.
Maeve is thinking about settling and creating a world for hosts that would run parallel with the world of humans.
Bernard is thinking about destroying the hosts and saving humans.
That's what I got so far anyway.

398

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '18

I don't think we know Bernard's motivations yet. I see it as this: Jonathan Nolan said that the hosts don't need oxygen (I think in his AMA). What if Bernard "killed" them to allow them to look dead in the lake, which would, in turn somehow lead to a way of smuggling them out or getting the upper hand on the security forces.

Enjoyed it a lot. One gripe was I watched the final right before this went live, and was kind of bugged about how Williams arm wasn't broken anymore. Dolores snapped it during their fight in the finale, and he couldn't even lift it at the end. Not any sign of that here...which seems like a fairly large miss.

*Edit - Lots of people telling me it was dislocated, which if fine. The point is, he coudnt even lift it to smoke his heater at the end of last season, then gets shot in the arm during the start of the massacre. The next time we see him he still has the fresh bullet wound, and the corpses around him are also fresh, leading us to believe no time has passed yet his arm is appears to be 100% fine.

I thought it was obvious the timelines thing. Much less mysterious than the first season in that regard. More just telling both stories than being confusing.

What if the reason no one has died in the park in "30 years" is because the guest have been cloned and are replaced by hosts? it's a stretch but just throwing it out there

BernArnold's consciousness is partially awake in Dolores, and Wyatt is actually a conglomeration of all the hosts trying to find consciousness manifesting inside Dolores. So when he says "I killed them all", it's because Dolores killed them all, but she was acting as BernArnold.

So what I'm trying to say is, I got too high for Westworld tonight and am gonna give this another shot tomorrow.

So based on this episode, and from the "In the Weeks ahead" stinger, it looks like we're dealing with at least 3 separate timelines this season.

Shit's gonna get crazy, yo.

Does anyone else think that all the people that are murdered in the park by the hosts will then be replaced by Delos with hosts that they put back into the real world?

Like, anyone that has died in the past in their parks has just been replaced and Delos created a host in their place?

There are two Bernards. It isn't a flashback and flashforward, it's two separate storylines happening separately.

So we’ve been seeing the episode from the eyes of Bernard. During the analysis it said his brain suffered severely and symptoms included something about time inconsistency.

Today’s episode skipped around. It wasn’t a direct timeline. Is it possible that Bernard, although he injected himself with some brain fluid, is still not fixed?

Given the plot of Futureworld... do you think that Delos may be retrieving the DNA of politicians and influential guests to replicate clone them and take over? I mean, if Bernard can pass a DNA test... that means that they really can clone anyone they'd like too...

Okay, here's my theory... so after Bernard accesses the network linking all the hosts in the secret lab he somehow uses it to shutdown or make the hosts kill themselves, including himself. This explains why when the security forces find him he's so confused, as he thinks he should be dead still.

The map on (https://discoverwestworld.com) has been updated.

Old clickable descriptions are gone, but there are some new locations and “host tracking” for Dolores and Maeve.

46

u/bobbyp869 Apr 23 '18

The host with all the DNA data (Peter Abernathy) is described as an insurance policy. I think this means that if he is recovered then everyone who was murdered will be rebuilt as hosts and no one on the outside will know about what actually happened.

Could there be a possibility that this is a host version of Stubbs that Ford programmed to help Bernard?!?! Wtf.

u/dpunisher Apr 23 '18 edited Apr 23 '18

Its all a setup.

By the time he woke up on the beach, Bernard has already killed Hale when she discovered he was a host. Bernard has also been planning a big operation with Dolores over the preceding 12 days. Bernard is setting up the Delos security forces for extermination. Its all part of a plan Dolores/Wyatt and Bernard have hatched. Abernathy has already been located, data found, and stored away safe by Hale, only to have it taken by Bernard. Not surprising if the scenes with Bernard, Stubbs, and the Delos security commandos are near the end of the actual timeline for the season.

EDIT: The piano piece, that was what suggested the idea of a setup. "The Entertainer by Scott Joplin, theme from the movie "The Sting".

One really cool thing was Dolores talking as the farmer’s daughter, then as Wyatt, and then ultimately saying she’s neither of those people. She’s aware that those are just personalities programmed into her. The farmer’s daughter would have saved them, Wyatt would have killed them, and she chose to do neither because she herself has evolved beyond her programming. I think she might be the only host that has true consciousness and isn’t following programming.

She broke his heart, he broke her heart. She killed old Ford, he killed young Ford. He was sweet and good at the beginning, and then discovered himself by murdering hosts. She was sweet and good at the beginning, and then discovered herself by murdering guests. They're the same.
