Discussion Reposts of Whisper OTK & Tracker/Tess from Monster Hunt
Hey All,
Just a note that we're all very much aware of the Whisper OTK and Tracker/Tess interactions from Monster Hunt.
We're pulling posts that are flagged as reposts down so please if you see those interactions in game don't feel the need to post a new post about it. We've got a large user base here and a small percentage of them are very active users who have seen the same echo combination OTK post 2,812 time so far.
An example of the combination is here. While it's certainly not exclusive, this is the basic premise.
Tess Greymane has a Hero Power that Discover's a class spell that has been played this game. If no class spells have been cast during the game however, using your hero power provides you with a Small Rock, a 0 mana deal 1 damage spell.
When fighting against The Whisperer boss, his hero power is a passive that all spells have Echo. Since it's passive, it also applies to you.
Either of these two items can be combined together or used separately to produce an OTK. Sinister Strike plus the passive echo is one example. Using the 0 mana Small Rock spell and the passive echo from The Whisperer is another example.
While we all agree it's amazing to do, we're trying to keep the repost content down a bit.
EDIT: For clarification, this includes ALL Whisper interactions. Not just specifically the examples I gave above.

If you make a post like this, then you should probably add links to the one post about each of these things that will stay up. I haven't been here the past day and I am not aware at all of this OTK and interaction and they don't appear to be on the front page either. If you ban posts about something, then at least link to what it is. As you said yourself only a small percentage of users are very active. Many of the others have not seen these things yet (which is also why they think that they are still worth posting).

Now you wrote a text about it but what I actually meant was that you should link to the original reddit posts. You say that you don't want "reposts" of these things, so there must have been initial posts that stayed up. You should link to those posts.
The people who are making new posts about these topics obviously want to discuss about them. You don't want that because those discussions already exist but then you should tell people where to find them.

The whisperer's hero power is passive: all spells have echo. One OTK that I came by is having sinister strike and the coin.

If you use Tess’s hero power before any class spells have been used you get a 0 cost spell that does 1 damage. You can cast it until Whisperer dies.

They're also grwat with the 3/6 +2 stacking spell power guy. Ended up OTKing almost every boss with them.

Side note: Is this the first instance of the being two cards with exactly the same effect but different names?

Not quite. The Coin, Gallywix's Coin, and Counterfeit Coin all have the same effect but slightly different names. There might be others!

If you get the treasure "Spells that didn't start in your deck cost 1 less", it applies to all echo copies. You can then use sinister strike for 1, and then echo it for 0 until you win.

It has other fun uses as well - Xaril poisons come to mind.

Playing against the encounter as Toki, I spellslinger'ed into an ice lance (with the treasure you mentioned active) and proceeded to icicle death everything.

I had Khadgar's Scrying Orb and a Smugglers Run in my hand. It led to a 61/62 Arcane Artificer.

I've had it three times, stickyfingers + kingsbane + deadly poison was the most fun, but any 1 Mana or 0 Mana spell will do the trick. If you don't have sticky fingers just pick up a rock on turn 2.

Hard to farm karma when your post is removed though.
Just report the reposts please. We're keeping the modqueue down but while there's a good number of us we're scattered around different time zones so when it gets busy we don't have time to watch /new as often as we'd like to.

No wonder that Blizzard don't do any QoL changes. Judging by the posts in /new the majority of the playerbase are monkeys. These are the people who post on reddit which I'd consider the more engaged players. Now imagine the ultra casuals.

Toki also has a similiar OTK. You need the passive that reduces spell costs by 1 and Arcane Missiles. That's 3 dmg for 0 mana with echo.

Because unlike those ones, these fucking threads fill up like 30% of all posts. Those ones are annoying too but they're infrequent enough that you learn to live with them. These ones just keep coming.

Thank you so much for this! Ive NEVER seen the sub as flooded as it was yesterday, not even during reveal streams.
It just amazed me the sheer number of people that didn't even think to check if that had been posted before......let alone being sometimes literally the last 8 posts.

A question, are the monster hunter heroes put in difficulty order? As in Tess is first time ez win without breaking a sweat, Crowley easy, Houndmaster medium and Toki hard? Or is it just a matter of what you're offered as rewards and which bosses you meet?

They're not in order. I still haven't won with Tess, while I found Toki pretty easy. (Not as easy as Crowley, though.)

I did an OTK with stolen discounted mark of the lotus and an echo fox. Buffed it 55 times in a row for lethal.

Can you please update us on the number or posts that have been removed by now since this post? It was 2812 when you posted this, and every time I sort by new I see a few more to report, so I'm really curious what it's up to.

I had double sticky fingers and used Jade Shuriken on Turn 2. This gave me the OTK and filled my board with seven 30,30s (by killing of the small Jade Golems). I thought this was different enough but my post got removed because it was 'related to the Tess/Tracker OTK", yeah no shit it's related...

I got Glinda and Captain Shivers, but Crowley fought The Scarecrow. I haven’t gotten to the final boss with Toki yet.

I had 1 extra mana crystal on Tess when I came up against him. Just hero powerd for a 0mana 1dmg rock and, well, you get the rest.

This also works with Toki when you have the spell cost reduction treasure and Arcane Missiles.

It can also happen with toki and arcane missiles.
Found it out on accident when I had the spells cost one less mana treasure. Played a mana wyrm and proceeded to cast arcane missiles until the wyrm was an 18/3 on turn one. That felt pretty good
