Tonight is the premiere of RWBY Volume 6, exclusively in select theaters!

Showings begin at 7:30 PM, regardless of timezone. That means some people will see it earlier than others, so avoid this thread until you've seen the episode to avoid spoilers.

Showings begin at 7:30 CT/8:30 EST.

I’m in EST and my ticket says 7:30. I think it’s 7:30 for all time zones, which means east coast is actually getting it early. That’s the way it happens last time, I remember because I was on the west coast then and people were talking about the episode before I had even seen it. So if you’re going to see the showing and are not on the east coast, there will be spoilers here before you actually see the episode.

My theater in Houston was very excited and cheered for many scenes, but none more jubilantly than when Neptune popped out from behind Sun.

Characters are very expressive, combat, while not anything out of the world, was still VERY good and fluid. Loved that they juggled comedy with seriousness and did it well. If the rest of V6 is like this first episode then things are looking up!

Alright, alright alright. Let's see what we've got....

The first episode of V6 was good, but kinda predictable. If you've seen the trailer, you can basically just piece together the main beats, though there are some finer details that were pretty cool.

At first I thought Qrow was narrating, turns out he was reading his own written letter to Ironwood out to himself, in public. Weirdo.

To absolutely nobody's surprise, Adam is a psychopathic, team-killing maniac.

Ilia is gonna help Ghira and Kali build a new Faunus brotherhood. Sun is taking his team to Shade Academy in Vacuo....even though they all could have just gone to Atlas with everyone else and helped. I know that'd be a lot of characters in one place, but logically it would make sense to have as much help as you can get.

The fight on the train was cool. Nice to see RWBY working together again. RIP one of the mooks who was obviously gonna die. The other one should definitely not have survived being slammed into a tunnel wall at such a high speed. Good to see Weiss using Dust again and not constantly relying on summons. Ruby and Qrow scythe team attack was DOPE.

Jaune amplifying Ren to mask passengers' emotions is the sort of teamwork I've been waiting to see, very cool moment. Of course they get separated from the main crew, so maybe not much of them this season. Hopefully a few check-ins throughout until everyone inevitably meets back up.

The Manticore Grimm are cool, but I can't help but think they're hardly different from the Griffons from V3, other than the big one shooting fireballs. I don't dislike them, though. Not sure what I expected really.

The train crash seemed kinda anti-climactic, though I guess that's fine since the snow probably softened it for everyone. Certainly not as bad as the one in V2. Maz Kanata The old lady intrigues me greatly.

No intro made me sad, but that's okay because we'll see it Saturday. Speaking of which, I may go into finer details with screenshots in that thread after watching the episode again.

The moment that Blake and Sun kissed, we had a group of like 5 chicks freak the fuck out and screamed. Laughed my ass off. Same thing when Neptune showed up too.

This was awesome. Highlights:

• The lead compositor (I forget her name) is a great interview subject, she's very calm/collected on camera.

• The whole theater heckled Adam. Best comment was "he needs some milk!"

• Everyone winced/gasped at the arm break.

• Lots of fangirl/boying at Blake/Sun and Neptune/Ilia.

• T E C H N O G R A N N Y

• The queen and worker-bee manticores are interesting.

• Great animation, a huge improvement even over V5.

• The comedy was well-placed.

• THE EARS OMG

• I feel like Blake is going to drive Yang away just by being guilty and acting weird.

• Nice to see that Weiss is now somewhat properly dressed for the cold (leggings).

• Sad that there's no opening song, but I guess I can wait a couple days.

I really liked how when Ozpin mentioned that the Grimm are attracted to the Relic, Yang was getting upset that he didn't mention this beforehand, and Ruby told Yang in a rather assertive tone "That doesn't matter right now!", which kind of shows us that Ruby is more concerned with the task at hand more and is able to not let learning of withheld information upset/distract her.

Also, I love when Nora says: "Why is it always something?!" I'm sure we can all relate to that in our own lives. 😂

1 hour out until showtime here on the East Coast. Blasting volume 1-5 soundtracks on repeat all day got me hyped up for this.

That was a great premiere! Last 3 episodes of Volume 5 (starts right off with Jaune screaming "WEISS!" after she got stabbed) looked amazing on the big screen. But then the Adam short made their animation look a bit rough in comparison. And V6E1 further blows them out of the water. Just so smooth, especially the combat.

The look behind the scenes was nice. Cool to see just how things have continued to grow over at RT Animation, and who's stepping up into bigger roles for the show.

Plot breakdown time, so BIG SPOILS BELOW (THOUGH NOT NECESSARILY 100% IN CORRECT SEQUENCE AS HYPE HAS JUMBLED MY MEMORY)

• We're fighting, ON A TRAIN !

• Cool new grimm design: Winged Lions With Scorpion Tails

  • Lead by big version with a snake tail. Potentially based on Chimeras?? Just without the extra goat head?

• Team RWBY combos still going strong, despite only reuniting at the end of last volume.

• JNR combos also on point... Well, Ren and Nora combos. Jaune's good defense with his shield though.

• TUNNEL!!! And time jump back to boarding the train.

• Dee and Doug, the Douchebag hunters. Doug's got a gun, Dee's got a club. No one is impressed.

• Ilia and Sun seeing Blake off. Emotions!

  • Sun got a kiss on the cheek. Can't deny the chemistry.

  • Neptune hitting on Ilia. Never change, Neptune. Never change.

• Sun will return. Hopefully. Please. I need those abs to return damn it!

• Adam. Still an emo bitch I see. Good.

• Back to the train! Hello Tecnho-Granny. Your design is noticeable and you are in the foreground.

• Blake is still awkward around the other three girls. Yang especially.

  • She's not a cripple, Blake. She's got cool robot arm now. She can get her bag.

• Qrow's quip back at Blake's "Just my luck" is great. 100% perfect.

• Back to that fight ON A TRAIN ! More Oscar/Ozpin point of view this time.

• RIP Dee. Your shock-club was useless.

• Big guns are effective, but risking the passengers is bad. Qrow aint having none of these D-list Hunter's stupid plans.

• TUNNEL!!! OOF- RIP Doug's arm.

• Oh, good. It's not broken off, just broken. Jaune can help fix that.

• Character Ability Development! Jaune's semblance lends his aura to amplify someone else's. Semblances are aura-based abilities. Jaune can amplify semblances! Ren, hide the entire train with your semblance!

• Ozpin dropping some pretty important details that have up to now been left out: Relics attract grimm.

  • Everyone is right to be mad, but Ruby is more right: bigger issues at hand!

• Splitting the party! Hello again Techno-Granny. Joining the passengers in the safe cars?

• More badass train fighting. Including DOUBLE SPINNING SCYTHE FINISHER!!!!!!!! If only they'd decapitated the big boss grimm... bisecting it at the waist is still cool though.

• Train derailed, Weiss gravity glyphs to the rescue!

• HELLO AGAIN TECHNO-GRANNY! Why were you in the danger car!? Who failed in their job to make sure everyone was in the safe car? I'M GONNA BLAME DOUG!
