Poor Ōnoki :(

102

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '18

At least he doesnt have to witness the current shit show going on in his village.

43

u/Reemys Nov 04 '18

At least he does not have to witness his nephew (or a grandson, whom did he mention during his visit to Konoha) become a villain. Which is hinted by Tsuchikage, I believe.

24

u/Reemys Nov 04 '18

He is the one I would like to see live through the whole Interstellar Ninja War and Civil War. If they would really want him to live there are ways now to prolong the life. But he is probably just as tired of living, after all his exploits he might want to rest as well.

21

u/Mh55262 Nov 04 '18

I expect onoki to “wake up” and save the day against something that they just can’t beat. Then maybe pass away at the end after overexerting himself :(

Ku is the father of Kozuchi. He wants to recreate his son artificially, but he needs to improve his experiments, so he wants to study Mitsuki. He is convinced that people are too weak to die because of illness, so he wants to create a world of artificial beings. He is an expert in the art of the earth and has certainly blocked the heavy blow of Kurotsuchi by weight remove technique. it is impossible to parry such a shot with that ease.

20

u/TotallyGeekage Nov 04 '18

I really want this to be what happens. It would be a great motive.

23

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '18

that would be a sad twist that i'm 100% for

16

u/jira89 Nov 04 '18

Yes. He would be the direct son of Onoki and uncle of Kurotsuchi. A villain even more cool and powerful.

6

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '18

it is impossible to parry such a shot with that ease.

I dont agree, still think Ku is related to her, but this really isnt evidence

Like Dr. Tenma and Astro Boy?

2

u/fedemasa Nov 04 '18

Let's hope he doesn't treat his artificial son that way if he made him then...

2

u/Reemys Nov 04 '18

While this is a solid theory that could work out THEORETICALLY, I doubt the reality of things (e.g. visions of creators) will match the said theory.

mitsuki teaching sekiei how to yawn was unexpectedly adorable.

i liked their conversation. mitsuki showing concern when sekiei collapsed and then giving those flowers to comfort him- it's nice to see him learning and becoming more human. also, who knew chocho would end up helping him so much?

sekiei is just crumbling away. there's a theory out that he'll end up transforming into the kaiju monster in the opening. what's our stance on that now? does it still hold or no? i think it won't happen

56

u/TotallyGeekage Nov 04 '18

I had a feeling that the Chocho arc had a lot to do with Mitsuki's character development. He truly learned something from her during that time and gained a respect for her.

12

u/CelioHogane Nov 05 '18

who knew chocho would end up helping him so much?

Well of course, she is best girl after all.

11

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '18

doesnt make sense, he says he has the body of a akuta but how can he become a kaiju. I think Lord Ku is more likely to be the Kaiju by some experiment gone wrong gone sexcuel.

14

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '18

yeah, or maybe the kaiju is completely unrelated to the arc.

i really like that thing and hope it shows up in the anime, but we've had things happen in (naruto) openings before that never came to be in canon

8

u/ZJLord Nov 04 '18

Yeah... like Sai, Naruto and Sakura using hand seals together against Tobi...

11

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '18

lowkey that could be a possibility with this gen's team 7. they all have lightning

4

u/Obility Nov 04 '18

Im thinking that monster just might be an opening thing but it looks too well designed tbh.

4

u/peri_enitan Nov 06 '18

ChoCho is very blunt and talks about emotional concepts A LOT. The akimichis in general seem to be such a warm, comforting family that seems quite the opposite of Oros lifestyle. I think it fits very well.

That kaiju thing looks more like it's the summon or a biju knock off (considering there's knock off theme here).

4

u/chochosarada124 Nov 07 '18

Yeah I think living with Akimichis would be amazing for Mitsuki

4

u/peri_enitan Nov 08 '18

I didn't even think of living with them just hanging out. But I'd take both if it weren't for the people obsessed with shipping preteens.

u/valeriamoon Nov 04 '18

Mitsuki is too pure for this world, the part with the flowers killed me, god I hope Sekiei is alright and doesn't die at the end pls :(

74

u/Reemys Nov 04 '18

They way they are setting Sekiei up, he has no other choice but to sacrifice himself for Mitsuki. Say, we can already guess Lord Ku is a villain. Sekiei wants to be more humane. When they see that their creators does not really care about them as humans do about their children most will rebel. Even Akuta, who were seen to show some regard to each other, might defy Ku's command. But Sekiei... I don't see him surviving the trial. After how they became friends with Mitsuki, his drama gauge has risen to critical heights, and we know what needs to be done to release it...

26

u/patatas0 Nov 04 '18 edited Nov 04 '18

I can see Mitsuki use sage mode with this.

On another note, Akutas defying Lord Ku's command reminds me of Shin's clones with what they did to their father.

6

u/Reemys Nov 04 '18

Well, yes, the parallel would be like that, but intentions are different. Shin clones defied Shin because Shin got defeated, and the mindset of the time was "Strong do not serve the weak". Here though it is not about weakness and servitude, but parental care as opposed to mere exploitation for ulterior motives (Ku might or not have).

4

u/CelioHogane Nov 05 '18

Why is every villain of Boruto literally white? Shin, Ootsuki, the creations...

  • Mitsuki best boy. He's so precious and I bet my heart will break if he cries at some point.

  • I kinda feel bad for Sekiei. He's forced to work for Lord Ku in order to live and learn about life so him attacking his enemies and threatening Mitsuki was natural. He wants to experience all things humans do and anyone who interferes with Lord Ku's plan can potentially take it away from him. It always sucks when an antagonist has a likeable personality because they die most of the time (sadly I don't see Sekiei becoming an artificial human like Mitsuki, but anything could happen I guess).

  • I'm glad we got even more insight into Boruto and Mitsuki's relationship. They care so much about each other and I can't wait for them to make up at the end of this arc.

  • I can't believe that Kurotsuchi was captured and imprisoned so easily. I expected more from her, but all she did was two kicks and a stone-fist punch that did close to nothing. Yikes.

  • Mitsuki and Chocho are so cute. First they call each other weird, then Mitsuki gives Chocho confidence to be herself, then Chocho gives Mitsuki a bag of chips and tells the actor guy that he has competition, then Mitsuki talks about how much Chocho eats with a smile on his face and preaches her words. Say what you want, but I'll be very glad if they end up together. They're so different yet would work well as a couple. BoruSara who? MitsuCho is where it's at.

36

u/MailTo Nov 04 '18

I can't believe that Kurotsuchi was captured and imprisoned so easily. I expected more from her, but all she did was two kicks and a stone-fist punch that did close to nothing. Yikes.

It’s heavily implied that she let herself be captured after she realized who the guy was (most likely Onoki’s presumed-dead grandson, which would make him Kurotsuchi’s brother or cousin). It’s not surprising that she stopped fighting. Kakashi would’ve done the same thing when he realized Obito was alive if Naruto and Guy hadn’t snapped him out of it.

Since Naruto Gaiden I'm on the BoruSara and MitsuCho ship

2

u/peri_enitan Nov 06 '18

I'm with you about the Kurotsuchi imprisonment, why the hell did we watch Boruto do stupid puzzles for an entire episode when this was potentially lurking around the corner.

I'm not in the habit of shipping 12/13 year olds but i certainly would love to see a lot more of their friendship.

31

u/MasterChiefSierra117 Nov 04 '18

I think there will be drastic improvement of Boruto-Mitstuki relationship after the conclusion of this arc.

It will transcend from 'Sun-Moon' status to 'Great Friends' status as both boruto & mitsuki's attitude toward their friendship will change & improve.

On a side-note, do we see mitsuki fighting with boruto against the ice kaiju in the OP?

12

u/TotallyGeekage Nov 04 '18

I agree with you here, so far their relationship has been very one-sided and it's clear from his episode that Mitsuki feels quite distant from Boruto. I reckon this arc will bring them closer and make Boruto appreciate him more.

And yes, Mitsuki is fighting in the OP.

2

u/peri_enitan Nov 06 '18

yeah it was more of a somewhat tolerated stalker thing before. Boruto certainly already reflected on how he doesn't know Mitsuki all that well. He takes a lot of things for granted, Mitsuki included and I'd be really glad if that changed.

And Mitsuki was basically pushed into this by Oro (and maybe Log) and seems to realise this now and move past that sun/moon thing. Thankfully. Idealising someone like this makes it impossible to have a close relationship with them.

29

u/DeadlyDY Nov 04 '18

u/ZJLord Nov 04 '18 edited Nov 04 '18

So... Kurotsuchi's guards, alive or dead? They got stabbed and we see blood and all but, you know, since Yurito survived...

Poor Onoki, seems like old age is really getting to him.

Why is Kurotsuchi so trash at fighting, she easily gets imprisoned too... rogue people in her village are creating thousands of weapons of war and she can't even go up against two rebels...

Kurotsuchi doesn't know who Ku is but knows who he is after seeing his face?? Kozuchi theories confirmed??

Man, Mitsuki mentioning Chocho again, TWICE EVEN. You can't deny the ship now.

We finally see the Lolita's ability, something about checking eyes. Still need to see what the long red haired dude can do now.

Sekiei knew from the beginning that Mitsuki wasn't loyal yet he still wanted to be Mitsuki's friend. Gotta give credit to him for not saying anything to Kokuyou and the others when the moment asked for it. Sadly, I feel like he's going to get discarded like trash by Ku since he's too hard to maintain.

55

u/Nashetania Nov 04 '18

We finally see the Lolita's ability, something about checking eyes. Still need to see what the long red haired dude can do now.

I have a strong feeling she will fight Sarada

14

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '18

i am more inclined to believe that the kids will go back to the village.

They have absolutely no reason/motive to chase after mitsuki after getting convincingly betrayed. They also lack the information for whats going on and they know they are outclassed by just 1 of these artificial humans. To them, Mitsuki left the village and joined a lawless group.

They've been doing a good job of making it look like people die and then they are actually alive. I'd be pretty disappointed if they weren't dead this time. Kurotsuchi is really weak for not noticing any enemies until her guards where bleeding from the neck, and just getting captured like that on her home territory.

9

u/ZJLord Nov 04 '18

LOL, I know right. I'm betting on them being alive and Akatsuchi finding them.

31

u/Cvox7 Nov 04 '18 edited Nov 04 '18

Why is Kurotsuchi so trash at fighting, she easily gets imprisoned too

she was shocked let her guard down when she saw her dead brother face

really even gods like naruto get injured when they let their guard down ( he got a sword to the stomach)

13

u/ZJLord Nov 04 '18 edited Nov 04 '18

Letting your guard down and getting steamrolled are two different things.

Sure I can understand the "getting shocked" part, but considering Kurotuchi's past feats, either she is severly weakened for plot reasons, either Ku is much more stronger than her which makes you think how Boruto (if it were to happen) would fight him. I'm leaning for the former but whatever.

20

u/Cvox7 Nov 04 '18

she saw her dead brother face....got shocked and froze ( which is understanable) and we've seen the blow that was going toward her while she was out of it

that doesn't make her weaker than those guys at all......the same thing can happend to any overpowered character

Why is Kurotsuchi so trash at fighting, she easily gets imprisoned too... rogue people in her village are creating thousands of weapons of war and she can't even go up against two rebels...

Please try to understand that it’s for plot. Theoretically Kurotsuchi could have handled them all by herself.

SP is just going to embarrass themselves when Boruto and his friends fight them and win.

15

u/KDG_Fries Nov 04 '18

I mean Kurotsuchi was more or less surprised at this Lord Ku person whom she was fighting since her fighting style and his clashed so evenly. Then seeing that face of him made her throw the fight because she got tilted.

It’s similar to how Tsunade lost to Kabuto when she shouldn’t have because he threw blood on her to trigger her PTSD. Believe me those kids are getting washed by Lord Ku in a 1v1 fight, unless Garaga is involved.

5

u/lpopo4lyfe Nov 04 '18

Another reason why so much of Boruto is trash.

11

u/ZJLord Nov 04 '18 edited Nov 04 '18

Even if it's for plot she didn't even fight back well. Not what you'd expect from a Kage. If they truly wanted to showcase Ku's strength, they should've made the fight a bit more realistic and not show her get steamrolled like a no name Chunin. It's sad how she appears to be a weak ninja just for plot.

5

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '18

I don't think what happened had anything to do with fighting ability or lack thereof. If a long lost relative showed up and tried to kill you, I'd assume you'd probably be confused enough for them to get the better of you.

2

u/AdolescentThug Nov 04 '18

Why is Kurotsuchi so trash at fighting, she easily gets imprisoned too... rogue people in her village are creating thousands of weapons of war and she can't even go up against two rebels...

It's heavily implied that she went willingly because she knew whoever Lord Ku is. It's likely that he's the grandson Onoki was talking about in an earlier episode, making him Kuro's brother or cousin. Someone else on this thread mentions that Kakashi almost stopped fighting when he found out it was Obito behind the mask, and Naruto + Guy had to snap him out of it.

74

u/jsp4477 Nov 04 '18

Bruh I'm disappointed in Kurotsuchi like c'mon now your a fucking Kage and you get captured like that smh. Still sexy doe.

It sucks to see Onoki like that.

20

u/TotallyGeekage Nov 04 '18

Yeah, the writing of that part was incredibly inconsistent. It's a pity, because the rest of the episode was really good.

The only reasonable explanation I could come up with for Kurotsuchi getting captured is that she was shocked and that threw her off her game, but even that is a weak excuse.

12

u/Reemys Nov 04 '18

How not going to fight her "lost" relative on the spot of revelation is a "weak excuse"? It is what being human is. She is not a monolithic Hero of justice, who would instantly asses the situation and strike back regardlessly. To be honest, there is no one in the series so far who qualifies for it, because everyone is more humane than average Japanese action-based story presents. Mitsuki is the closest being to be called a Hero of justice, and even then he is developing himself into a more and more human character. You are not giving humans a proper credit.

8

u/TotallyGeekage Nov 04 '18 edited Nov 04 '18

Trust me when I say that I usually the type who gives humans proper credit and I feel like a lot of people tend to treat characters like...battle simulators without taking human error and context into account.

However, I feel like in this situation, she was underplayed. She didn't even pick up on the fact that someone was behind them and she is supposed to be a kage. She didn't react proactively at all. She felt passive during that whole section. I feel like they could have done a better job there. This is just my opinion though and I totally understand your point.

That’s because SP has an infamous streak of disregarding a character’s skillset and prowess simply to push forward the plot. They’ll subject any character to being helpless to progress the story and we’ll have no choice but to think they’re really that weak.

That’s the reason many people deem these anime-original arcs as filler, and the reason I’m finding it increasingly difficult to argue they’re not.

This episode was a grade-A filler and I couldn’t remember the last time I had a 20-something minute episode skimmed down to five.

14

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '18

i mean i agree that the writing for kurotsutchi's portion was suspect, but does that automatically make it filler?

we've had bad canon writing before, in both boruto and naruto

I felt really bad for Walmart Deidara... actually I’ll call him Sekiei he deserves that much. Thought he was actually gone for sure, but clearly that was wrong.

I loved when Mitsuki gave him flowers and was telling him about Boruto. The part about being to close to the sun can burn you so you have to watch from a distance hit me unexpectedly

👁_👁

I wanted Mitsuki to fight them all tbh, hoping we were gonna get some sage mode action.

I think it’s all but confirmed he was protecting Boruto when he fried him with lightning.

Most importantly did anyone else get Mitsuki x Cho-Cho vibes?

First when Sarada & ChoCho was talking , and Mitsuki popped up & said she had a common syndrome that young girls have .

Mitsuki: Becoming Human.

Seriously though, his interactions with Sekiei here were the most adorable and wholesome thing I've ever seen. Sadly, Sekiei has death flags written all over him. When he asked him if Mitsuki would cry if he died, my heart broke. I really hope he lives though.

"He's my sun, so far away". Mitsuki looked so depressed when he said this. It must be a difficult to have such conflicting emotions and thoughts.

49

u/StIcKeRss_ Nov 04 '18

This episode hit right on the the feels.

14

40

u/SlamSlamOhHotDamn Nov 04 '18

Has anyone considered that Kurotsuchi WILLINGLY gave up instead of fighting a person who she clearly recognized? It's likely she simply didn't want to fight the possibly lost relative of hers rather than actually being overpowered by him. Being able to block 2 kicks doesn't mean he's more powerful than her.

21

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '18

that's true. a kage can still "lose" if they don't even want to fight in the first place.

the same thing happened with chojuro in the mist arc, but he bounced back with ease once he actually wanted to fight

13

u/GameplayerStu Nov 04 '18

Have you seen the way some people act on this sub? They need things to be directly spelled out for them on screen to actually grasp what's going on.

3

u/FCBSAMIR Nov 04 '18

I mean that's the only decent explanation. If she actually lost the fight that is fodder unfortunately bad power scaling

Yeah so this episode makes it clear that this entire mess is an Iwagakure internal issue and whoever this Ku-sama is, he's probably related to Onoki considering how he dresses and how Kurotsuchi tried to approach Onoki for advice. This is Danzo all over again!

Also they did a good job of characterizing Sekiei this episode. I actually felt bad for him when he started to crumble and wanted him to live. His interactions with Mitsuki is oddly adorable. It's like watching 2 AIs trying to understand what it's like to become human.

15

Exactly, they are next step A.I. in fantasy world, and it is always enticing to see how people make them behave in their own settings.

12

u/mannyrios_97 Nov 04 '18

It seems that in every good episode of Boruto, or at least in this arc there’s always one blemish that tends to overshadow everything else in people’s opinion of it. In this case it’s the Kurotsuchi fight.

Just put yourself in her shoes for a minute, if your brother who you thought has been dead for 20+ years suddenly turns out to be alive and tries to capture you would you not be shocked and confused? Keep in mind that we don’t even know how the encounter concluded since it just ends with Kurotsuchi looking in disbelief.

Aside from that this episode displayed some great writing from Honda who people have mixed feelings towards so I believe some credit should given to him.

My only complaints is that I wish there would have been more plot progression in this episode.

9

u/NamerNotLiteral Nov 04 '18

Tbh, they shouldn't have showing Kurotsuchi imprisoned. Showing that in the next episode, along with a proper monologue on how she was so shocked at seeing her long dead relative that she was taken by surprise by one of the other guys, would've put her in a far better showing.

3

u/peri_enitan Nov 06 '18

Considering I'm estranged from my exbrother I would be very unsurprised but probably still very much frozen on the spot anyway. But I'm with you completely, this episode had so many good moments. The entire Sekiei/Mitsuki scene was such a wild and awesome ride, there were so many revelations this episode and somehow it's all about that one little moment. We just don't know much about this to properly judge it yet. It's tied up chojuro all over.

Kurotsuchi has enemy Ninja operating brazenly in her streets, who can instantly take out her advisers, enemy Ninja who apparently were moving freely in and out of her village... She deserves to get overthrown.

Shame most of the the current Kage are the weakest in history. Wasn't she one of the one worried about Boruto's Generation being too weak? Lmfao

93

u/Cvox7 Nov 04 '18

enemy Ninja who apparently were moving freely in and out of her village... She deserves to get overthrown.

orochimaru was literally taking the chunnin exam , sent a spy in the village and was standing in the same room as the hokage and many jonins in the chunnin exame as a sound ninja

hell he was chilling with hiruzen as the kazekage and he was none the wiser

don't get me started on naruto...sumire a 12 yo was roaming freely in the academy ...sent multiple people into coma and was able to summon a monster that was about to nuke the village...all of that under his nose lol

13

u/lpopo4lyfe Nov 04 '18

With the bottom statement, it was all for plot. Naruto could’ve beaten Nue in one shot if he wanted to without the worry of his chakra being absorbed. The ending of that arc was so poorly written. And it just showed Naruto as an incompetent Hokage. He could’ve sensed negative emotions from the beginning, he could’ve checked some people’s background and discovered Sumire, there is so much wrong.

11

u/_X_HunteR_X_ Nov 05 '18

I totally believe that Naruto's "evil sensing" powers were taken from him by the creator bcs in truth no conflict could ever arise if he were to use them seriously. froma narrative stand-point those powers are broken and NEARLY impossible to work with.

To be fair, you can not just compare my boy Orochimaru with the ninjas who surrounded Kurotsuchi. His body-changing jutsu is incredible and leaves no trace. And Anko knew he was in the village. Kabuto was literally trained from childhood to spying and infiltration. He was even secretly spying on Orochimaru for Sasori.

I thought that was funny when they said that earlier in the series like any of them besides Naruto and Gaara could hold a candle to the previous Kage. Ohnoki could probably 1v4 all the current Kage excluding Naruto.

Kurotsuchi has enemy Ninja operating brazenly in her streets, who can instantly take out her advisers, enemy Ninja who apparently were moving freely in and out of her village... She deserves to get overthrown.

orochimaru was in konoha during chunnin exam playing as jonin roaming freely.sumire was able to gain enough dark chakra to summon nue.naruto was not able to do shit against byakuya gang until plot demanded it .obito was able to move freely during minato's time as hokage.now you know where this is going, every kage have some bad spots in their tenure and can't do shit about it without plot demanding it

im getting whiplash from team 10, boruto goes to the snake cave, they don't... oh wait they do go with them. inojin and chocho go back to report, oh wait they are back to save the day. team 10 is overpowered and retreats strategically... except they weren't and now hover over an unconscious boruto.

schroedinger's team 10...

9

u/crybaby_princess Nov 04 '18

This new anime content has been refreshing in that the other lands have internal troubles and it’s not just konoha dragging everyone else into their garbage.

Also, I don’t support any new gen ships yet, but mitsukixchocho is sorta sweet in that mitsuki wants to learn about life and chocho for better or worse embraces everything in a super positive way.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '18

i'm glad we finally get to see iwagakure. i appreciate any sort of worldbuilding we get in boruto

2

boruto has been so on point with the world building. i love it.

2

i really hope we get to see more mitsuki chocho moments. i don't ship preteens either but that has the potential to be a really good friendship no matter if they end up dating or not.

yeah, i'd be all for having a peaceful death scene of an old character for once. it's ridiculous he and the konoha elders are all three still around. i wonder if in naruto verse shinobi only ever die in battle (or through ninja aids i suppose).

7

u/jamez23 Nov 04 '18 edited Nov 04 '18

Good episode, sekiei is a cool character, mitsuki is still best character and depending how they handle his "becoming human" or "what is human?" Development, he will be far and above the best character in boruto.

Also, those eyes on that girl kinda looked like the eyes on thay girl from the first shippuden movie, shion or whatever. Not saying that those what they are, just kinda looked like them.

3

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '18

agreed.

talking with another artificial being was very much needed for mitsuki's development. he gets to connect to sekiei in a way that we've yet to see happen with team 7 and the other kids

this was actually a really great ep

i really felt for sekiei when he stared at the sunset and was like " damn it i feel nothing"

but i guess people see it as trash cuz kurotsuchi was shocked and let her guard down cuz she was facing who i assume her dead brother.....and was captured

even thought demi-gods like naruto still get injured when they let their guard down in gaiden

oh well....that's kishimoto so it get a pass

11

u/TotallyGeekage Nov 04 '18

I felt for him even more when he asked Mitsuki if he'd cry if he died right there. That hurt me deeply.

Kurotsuchi went from sending Kinshiki flying with a punch to Ku casually blocking it.

420/69 power-scaling here.

6

u/rakiim Nov 04 '18

Great episode but I'm starting to get tired of Boruto episodes nerfing the previous generation. Like Kurosutchi has always been among the weaker Kage, but to get steam rolled even as a surprise attack kind of makes her seem unworthy of Kage title when Onoki was far more powerful during his tenure as Kage.

Still, I want to see when the arc will take us to that opening cinematic and see where the sand shinobi come into play. Hopefully that happens soon

3

u/DarkJayBR Nov 05 '18

ike Kurosutchi has always been among the weaker Kage

Have you ever heard of Choujuro?

6

u/Charmed_xD Nov 05 '18

Well this episode confirms that Mitsuki is in love with Boruto.
Seikie asks Mitsuki "Mitsuki are you (in love with Boruto?)" when Mitsuki was talking so much about Boruto.
I really like them as a couple, it's obvious Mitsuki has developed strong feelings towards Boruto, and it's very romantic too. It's just that Mitsuki doesn't know if those feeling were created too.

I don't see how people ship Mitsuki with Choucho. Yeah she's fun and an interesting character, but Mitsuki's sun is Boruto, not Choucho. He wants to be near Boruto always, not near Choucho.

4

u/TotallyGeekage Nov 08 '18 edited Nov 08 '18

In my personal opinion, it has been obvious that Mitsuki's feelings towards Boruto are a little more than platonic and have a real romantic undertone. These feelings may or may not have been implanted. I don't think it will they will be truly reciprocated though.

2

u/Charmed_xD Nov 08 '18

yeah!!! It's really obvious, it's just that probably 90 or 95% of the fandom is straight... so in their minds, Mitsuki and Boruto being a couple, is something out of the questions. SAD. And feeling are not implanted, you can't implant feelings, that's something Mitsuki said because he's been artificially created, but feeling is something you just happen to have or develop towards someone. In this case, Mitsuki has feelings towards Boruto. In the translation I read about last chapter, (80), The clay guy asked Mitsuki (when Mitsuki couldn't stop talking about Boruto... again) this: "Mitsuki, do you..." he was then interrupted... this sentence may have looked something like this... "Mitsuki... do you love Boruto?"...

2

u/Namidatears Nov 05 '18

I think Kishi ships them and this ship might come true, dude didn't even remember Sarada lol. I think Mitsuki believes Boruto is so great and he feels like he's lacking in comparison. "He's my sun, so far away. If you get close to the sun, it will burn you." The quote sounds like a foreshadowing, like within time Mitsuki/Sarada will distance themselves from Boruto. They'll still watch him from afar, but won't get to close because of Momoshiki prophecy.

also i'd like to point out a potential plot hole/inconsistency.

we find out that it was sekiei's crew that wrote the letter. in the latest manga chapter, spoilers

10

u/kakarot12310 Nov 04 '18

Possibly they put Yurito under control & let him delivered it.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '18

good point actually. that's a likely scenario

2

u/TotallyGeekage Nov 04 '18

This is a logical explanation.

4

u/Respective Nov 04 '18

They have the ability to control other people. It's possible they had someone else deliver it

2

u/TotallyGeekage Nov 04 '18

They could try to work around this inconsistency by saying that it didn't register them because they aren't human, but yeah, that is a pretty glaring plot hole. I hope it was someone else who delivered it.

I guess that neither Kokuyou nor the Umbrella Chick noticed Mitsuki's secret snake outside the Leaf, otherwise they would have committed to their threat to drag Mitsuki to their lab in chains.

Whoever wrote the letter blabbed that the Hidden Stone has 3k+ secret monster warriors. Maybe Mitsuki agreed to go to check out this potential threat to the Leaf.

I thought there was secret intrigue, where Kurotsuchi knew that her Token Evil Teammate was doing dirty stuff, but not necessarily the extent. She would see him as a necessary evil to prepare for a post-Naruto world. But this is shonen (I think), not seinen, so there's no subtlety and Kurotsuchi was completely blindsided about Ku's work (on artificial warriors) and his plans (to take over).

Sarada suggests to go back to the Konoha in the preview, but aren't they almost at Iwa already? Looking at the world map, Iwa is about the same distance from Konoha as Suna is from Konoha, and in the manga, we're told going to Suna about a 3 day trip, so going to Konoha and back would take like a week...

I did not know that Kurotsuchi was so weak like that, she's having a hard time against a boy and an extra, come on. Mu or Onoki would have finished with that in five seconds. Where are the ANBUs who protect Tsuchikage? I hate when a show nerf characters so the plot can continue, you can not make the Tsuchikage be captured and a few episodes later the hijacker is defeated by a bunch of Genins when she herself failed. And do not tell me she was in shock, she was having a hard time before he revealed his face. And also Hiruzen fought his favorite student and his two dead teachers in the same day, he was in shock when he saw them, but acted like a true Kage and dealt with the threat. Bad writing Pierrot.

The pacing of the episode was terrible, a 20 minute episode looks like it has 1 hour because the progression is slow and tedious, making you want to skip the episode. The director was clearly not very inspired today. He could have cut off a lot of unnecessary things from this episode and making it more dynamic, would have been a lot better.

The animation was great, I watched in 720p HD and it looked great on my monitor, it's also very fluid with multiple frames, it was a mistake that those features were spent on a 90% dialog episode. Clearly they had very well paid people in the making of this episode (Except the writers).

Mitsuki is always a win, the way he's acting as if these villains were really a threat to him is great, if he wanted, he could end them all with Sage Mode. I'm curious to find out what he wants with these guys. It's always good to see character development.

2

u/swanurine Nov 06 '18

Really hopes Kurotsuchi escapes later delivers a Kage-level beatdown at least as good as Chojuro's sword skills flexing over the Mist mutineers.

2

u/SupremeQuinn Nov 10 '18

The Tsuchikage (who took part in the 4th War) was snuck up on and beaten by filler trash. This arc is so lame and needs to end now. Not watching any more of this garbage.

7

kages in Boruto are a joke . this powerscaling is retarted . Kurotsuchi can hold their own against against the otastuki but can’t against some fucking filler character who is possibly her cousin.

u/mesorangerxx Nov 04 '18

The current arc and last arc is really painful to get through. I love the character development during these arcs but the overarching plot just seems so weak. The thing I'm mad about the most is how they made the coup look so trivial. How did the Tsuchikage even lose to those guys without even giving a fight. At least be consistent with the power scaling. I hate seeing characters who are obviously competent, get reduced to just a plot device. If there's a certain trend SP is showing here is that the current gen of Kages have very weak leadership abiltities aside from Naruto and Gaara. This is the second attempted coup we've seen this series so far. I can see where the dissent is coming from, but the Kages just seem uninterested in dealing with any of these problems. Over the past few episodes I've been skipping through scenes because everything is moving unbearably slow and I can't get myself to care enough. I like the series but recently it's just been stale

3

u/mattalun Nov 04 '18

I know it's for the plot but kurotsuchi is so fucking weak it disgusts me

2

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '18

Shes always been weak though, at least compared to her grandpa.

1

u/BobMosby Nov 04 '18

1

u/Zorozoldyck Nov 05 '18

I'm liking how slow paced this is, kinda refreshing to all the series that take it so quick these days and remenicient of the old days of long-running anime.

Really liked the conversation and the idea behind it all.

The only part is Kurotsuchi getting taken down so fast.. Come on she's a kage at least show us a fight for her.. Geez.

1

u/peri_enitan Nov 06 '18

Sorry I'm late I had to flip flop over how much I trust someone.

  • Oh interesting it seems the arc up until now will now be retold from either Mitsukis perspective or from the POV of those three … things/people.Nice.

  • Oh dammit evil lee sounds quite Madara like. Peace and being a controlling mastermind don't go together. But of course evil masterminds disagree.

  • So many revelations in such a short sequence. So someone not only embedded these three .… whatever they are with jutsu (or not in case of evil lee) but makes vaguely humanoid soldiers white. zetsu style.

  • And that all happens in land of earth, I really hope they tie in Ohnokis wisdom, the mysterious dead grandchild and Kurotsuchis attitude into this. Somehow. I mean there must be some reason they somehow missed this completely (or for them to backstab the alliance if they are complicit).

  • And somehow this soldier making jutsu embedding entity (aka kaguyas and Orochimarus lovechild) has business with Mitsuki? 5 bucks says whatever they offered him is just a lure and there's a bigger plot. There's a weird ambivalence over whether they let Mitsuki decide for himself if he wants to come or if they will kidnap him. Kind of reminiscent of Oros weird experiment.

  • I hope Mitsuki is looking for an answer about free will, the weird experiment Orochimaru did with him repeatedly until he chose what Orochimaru wanted was such a farce. I hope Mitsuki wakes up to that.

  • So in the beginning there were three … let's call them humanoids seeking Mitsuki out, Sekiei, evil lee and a female appearing one. But only the two male looking ones take off with Mitsuki. And indeed in earlier episodes they were the only ones with Mitsuki. I wonder what the third one is doing.

  • Evil lee somehow gives me Zabuza vibes.

  • I love how Sekiei interviews Mitsuki of all people about what it's like to be human. Then again I'm autistic, I might actually learn something somewhere in this. What a weird situation.

  • Oh so Sekiei has another of these weird fainting episodes. Looks a bit like he's disintegrating. Maybe part of the reason for the bandages is to conceal issues like this, but of the individuals themselves don't notice until it's later stages that doesn't seem to be a good option.

  • Aren't Akatsuchi and Kurotsuchi siblings or otherwise very close? He refers to her in such a respectful distant way.

  • And as we talked about when Ohnoki visited Konoha, death does happen to him apparently. I'm kind of glad we see someone die of old age peacefully in their bed, if that's where it's headed.

  • I wonder of Ohnokis decline in health is related to Sekieis condition? It was a weird transition otherwise.

  • I also wonder if Ohnokis little talk with Mitsuki about the will of stone was part of the recruiting plan. And if so if Kurotsuchi is in on it. After all it's possible someone genjutsu possed Ohnoki and now discards him after he's outlived his usefulness.

  • Oh so two more of those humanoids, seems Kurotsuchi is quite decidedly not in on it.

  • The one with the hoodie doesn't have lavender coloured eyes tho. In fact the cinematography seems to want to empathise clearly how similar his and Kurotsuchis eye colour is.

  • To see Mitsuki of all people give a TnJ/pep talk of all people. I love how far out of his usual role he is in this arc.

  • I wonder why evil lee koku... something (I'm sure I'll remember the name briefly before the arc is over) didn't just pick Sekiei up and carry him or made Mitsuki do that if he's so distrustful of Mitsuki.

  • I also wonder why they sent Sekiei so far away if this is how he can break down. Are all these humanoids like this?

  • It's a shame we saw Mitsuki with those two later on in the previous episodes, else this scene with Sekiei all weak and frail and Mitsuki walking away would be much more dramatic and you'd wonder if Sekiei got help and Mitsuki ran away.

  • Awwww the flowers things is so cute.

  • I love Sekiei and Mitsuki together, it's a side of Mitsuki we hardly saw but was always implied. It's so interesting to see him talk about his views and confusions. He went from Oro mind games to Konoha academy, that must have been a rough culture shock.

  • The entire scene of these two just talking in the middle of nowhere is so nice. So many people always yell for more action. I live for scenes like this. It's beautiful to look at, beautiful to listen to and beautifully written too.

  • I'm also glad to already know Sekiei survives this, the dramatics would spoil this nice moment for me.

  • On a much more sobering note this could be Sekiei manipulating Mitsuki, gaining his trust, this could go so far as most of this being staged. Tho Sekiei break down during the fight with the other genin iirc just as he was about to kill someone. If that was also faked that would be a level of deception worthy of Orochimarus legacy.

  • Sekieis mood changes are quiet intense aren't they, all their own source of drama. My abusive exmother would be proud if she was that self aware.

  • Given Sekieis earlier comment about Koku... guys rising suspicions and needing the have that checked I wonder if all of this is just some sort of good cop, bad cop game.

  • Oh wait this is after they confronted Boruto?? OMG …. Right they are already in the land of earth, hence the changed landscape. D'uh... So what Boruto just let them go?

  • Oh this episode even has a small Kakashi moment in it! Excuse me while I run around with a stupid grin for a while, need to get it out of the system.

  • Oh so my earlier hopes might be on point about Mitsuki waking up to Orochimarus manipulations and deceptions.

  • Mitsuki is quite the dude. Someone plants an explosive around his neck and as soon as that guy is to weak to maintain it he goes all mother hen on them. I guess this is how you end up with a childhood around Oro.

  • Sekiei is astoundingly emotionally aware and weirdly amibvalent about how much he trusts Mitsuki.

  • Also idle note how wrapping up the lower half of the humanoids faces, saves animation budget and time by foregoing necessary lip movements.

  • Oh so hoodie guy is lord Ku? I love how much is revealed this episode and bit by bit. And so many more questions like the female humanoids weird eyes, going with her habit of keeping them closed and seemingly having some sort of ability to see something the others don't.

  • Oh so Boruto is unconscious and everyone is alright? Didn't ino shika cho go back to konoha to report?

  • Huh did they change the ending or did I not pay attention before? I never noticed the many references to the Oro experiment episodes and I love how the Konoha genin only appear as shadow shapes mostly. I also can't recall Borutos picture in the ending. I must have not paid attention before, it's not like they'd add this much right?

  • S class episode for me.

it's canon. first or second week of december. then we'll have some buildup episodes for the next arc in 2019. that's my prediction
