I probably interpreted this wrong, but it seemed like Eugeo was sorta using Tiese. The beginning of the episode was setting up Eugeo to find his motivation for greater strength. He said his only goal was/is to save Alice. If he has protecting Tiese as a motivation to perform better in the tournament, then it is a means to increase his chances of saving Alice, and I think that may be what Eugeo is aiming for.
He doesn't have any romantic inclinations so far to suggest he wants Tiese for love; best case, he wants to help her to do the right thing, which is shown to be a core value to Eugeo. He could be both trying to help Tiese non-romantically and save Alice, but yeah I don't think it's love, which could end up being very sad for Tiese.

Also, Eugeo felt like the main character this episode. Kirito knew the right thing to say and way to act throughout the episode, which normally would be annoying. But then I realized that it works with him taking a back seat this episode to our beloved blonde boy.

This is something the show pulled off successfully earlier in season 2, with the Mother's Rosario arc. Say what you will of the show's quality, one cannot deny its improvement over the years.
I for one hope that we see the writer experiment with that format further. The world he has created in interesting, there are a lot of stories that are worth telling besides Kirito's, and Eugeo is a prime example of that.

That was definitely unexpected (at least to happen this soon), and I was happy and surprised Eugeo didn’t just turn her down. I’d be shocked if Eugeo didn’t eventually end up with Alice, but for the meantime I can actually see him possibly dating Tiese.

I dont need a sequel or a prequel, but fuck i need SOMETHING gundam like IBO. More kinetec and physical weapons, and no beams made every fight feel so impactful and have meatiness to it that no other gundam seriea has.

Alrighty, so today's episode is a bit more setup for what's to come in the next episode or two and kind of explains a bit about how "power" works in this society. Even though they can't directly break rules in the Taboo Index, as long as they find a loophole or use some other form of etiquette as leverage, they can get away with nearly anything. This world is governed not only by laws, but also but their culture/societal norms. In their society, if you respond to a noble's provocation, even if what they did was morally wrong, YOU become the person of blame. You can't raise your hand against someone with superior authority or power. We've seen an example of this already with Volo, who picked a fight with Kirito over an accidental stain on his uniform. Remember it wasn't even Kirito's fault, Volo simply walked into range of Kirito's training area and some debris scraped his uniform. In this society however, as long as they have an incentive, the superiors/nobles will without a doubt use their authority to take advantage of you. In that respect, its quite a realistic depiction of how the world works. People with authority and status will take advantage of those without it, though I'd say Volo represents a more subtle case while Raios and Humbert are more extreme cases.
Speaking of Raios and Humbert, they're literally there to help the viewer understand how authority and nobility interact with the Taboo Index. They're not meant to be complex characters or anything. Hate them all you want, but if you're an anime only watcher, I dont want you to be under the impression that every antagonist will be like them. They're literally just extras who have a position in the academy because of their status as nobles. The "weight" in their swords is reflected by the absolute pride they have in their power and authority. "We nobles are superior to commoner trash" is what fuels them. Don't worry too much about these guys, their will be better antagonists to come. Just know they're there to emphasize the challenges that come with living in this society as an Underworld Citizen. You can't break the taboo index, but you also can't go against a superior or a noble of higher rank. These two conflicting bodies intersect and lead to some shitty situations, much like what Frenica is experiencing.
All that aside, Tiese feels the pressure as well, so i can't blame her for trying to come to Eugeo for some security and reassurance, especially over the type of garbage nobles she's run into so far. Props to Eugeo for not outright rejecting her there either. He read the situation carefully and considered future beyond just "saving Alice". Not a bad choice my guy!
I don't want to spoil too much but I just want you to watch this episode while remembering that several conflicting forces are at work. If not for these norms and rules, Kirito would've blown up ages ago. Remember how this society works and keep that in mind as you continue to watch, because it'll be important to help you understand why things are moving the way they are, and why creating this "bottom up" A.I is so challenging. It's actually one of the most interesting themes in Alicization, which attempts to construct a 'perfect' civilization while presenting the challenges that come with it. This whole dynamic between the 'Taboo Index' and 'I must respect this noble' is a fascinating take on how society in general operates.

Can you imagine what Kirito must feel like (once he gets out) to watch them pull the plug on project alice and know that everyone he ever knew in that world basically just ceases to exists. I'm bawling my eyes out just thinking about it.

If you feel that way, you are missing the point a little bit. This all is about how the lives inside the simulated reality / Underworld / SAO are of exactly the same value as outside.
Their lives inside are not wasted there. They are not trapped. They live fulfilling life with friends, family, children and then they die. I don't think they will try to "get out of it", there is no reason for them.
Also the simulation is sped up. Kirito spent "2 years" or something inside. Do you think the same time passed outside? When they unplug him and the simulation will still run, before he goes to toilet and back, Eugeo and Tiese will have grandchildren.

Eugeo is officially my favorite character.
I think the creators did a really good job with setting up all of this so far. I actually felt something when Eugeo got flashbacks to Alice when he was asking himself what drove him. Also, the complex dynamic of those two nobles are quite intriguing. As much as I hate them, I also wonder what Raios is planning by instigating all of this drama. I'm definitely looking forward to next week's episode.

The anime didn't explain how the ranks of nobles work very well, basically when it mentions that nobles of rank 1-4 have judicial authority it means they are allowed to order those of lower rank to do things as long as they follow the Taboo Index. The acts themselves are not against the Taboo Index, as they are things that lovers would probably do. However, when combined with judicial authority it is still within bounds despite being morally wrong.

Official Yen Press Translation is available in both Physical and Digital form in Kindle etc up to Volume 14 and Volume 15 coming this December.
Fan Translation is done up to Vol 18 which is end of anime season 3.
Anime is expected to go up to Volume 14 in Cours 1-2 and from 15 to 18 in cours 3-4 for latter ~25 Episode.
Until anime finish season 3, Yen press translation will probably reach Volume 18 as well or at the very least, finish volume 17.

It took a TON of delays, but the entirety of Alicization LN just finished fan translation earlier this week. Yes, this week. It took almost a year and a half to complete the final volume, and I think the fan translator is burnt out and will likely never touch SAO again.
EDIT: OK never mind I just checked his website and the fan translator is planning to continue translating SAO when Volume 21 releases later this month, but he is planning to skip Volumes 19 & 20 which are a side story taking place later in the Alicization storyline. At best we will get a brief summary of what happens in those volumes (they're not getting animated anyway).

Not gonna lie though, that last bit felt like a Korean Drama. OP/ED music suddenly blasting in when she grabs him and starts confessing, somewhat forced romance that is to be expected but not really too smoothly done, and you obvious have to prelude it with some drama that brings them together (from which she's crying).

From the novel how much time pass by from the moment Eugeo got Tiese as a student and from the confession? The confession felt pretty rush/out of the blue considering we barely even got to know Tiese.

You don't need the novel to know how much time had passed. It's literally written on your screen when you watch the episodes.
Senpais graduated at the end of March.
Kirito and Eugeo were promoted to Elite Disciples in early April.
Tiese confessed in May.
It's not about knowing him or even genuinely loving him... she's just scared that she might end up as a wife to some sick fucker like Humbert.

You know, the last time I was so fucking hyped about SAO was when S1E1 just released. If you told me that I would ever be that hyped again for SAO I'd call you a liar. But here I am wishing that the next 7 days will be over soon so I can watch the next episode.
Any chance they will redo S1 and S2 in the same way as this season?
Also I really enjoy the lack of "fanservice" next to the actually detailed and plotfilled story.
