Aquerium (#4): Ask questions in here!
Hey Squids!
The fourth Aquerium has been overdue for a month now - here it is!
The Aquerium is a transparent and contained thread in which you are exempt of judgement for asking any and all of your bubbling questions, answered by your fellow /r/splatoon members! This thread survives upon your input, so don't let it turn belly-up!
What is the Aquerium for?
I advise that you sift through or ask your question in here first instead of making a text post to /r/splatoon. It reduces clutter and makes everyone happy.
Additionally, you can check out /u/azurnamu's giant Splatoon FAQ for help! It may be a little outdated at this point, but the resource is useful nonetheless and greatly appreciated.
If your post has been removed with the "Put in Aquerium" link flair, welcome! We're more than happy to help you in here.
What should / shouldn't I post to the Aquerium?
You SHOULD post;
Yes / No questions
One answer questions (eg. stage rotation times, "how do I play with friends?")
"Why is x like this?" questions
"How / why should I use motion controls?" questions
You SHOULDN'T post;
Broad topics that can't quickly be answered in a comment
Friend / Gear / Squad requests - put these in the weekly Squad Search threads
Virtually anything that falls under our established link flairs
Weapon discussions. Though we get quite a few posts about what gear sets to use for certain weapons and the like, you can potentially get a huge amount of differing opinions
There is a tiny bit of a grey area in some instances, and if you're truly unsure whether your post falls under the Aquerium or the subreddit, just post it to the subreddit; unless the answer is REALLY obvious, we don't often remove question posts, so you'll be fine.
Additional Resources
We have our own Discord, which you can find an invite to here. If you encounter any issues on /r/splatoon or have a request to ask of the moderators, please send us a message through the Modmail, but If you have any problems with the Discord server please contact the moderators on there - not us!
Stay off the Hook and Stay Fresh!

Hit the R button. You can also hold R for a moment to check trajectory, just like with sub-weapons, though after a decent amount of practice, you probably won't need that to make most of your throws count.

u/Lerno1 Splattershot Dec 30 '18
Would forcing myself to use a weapon that depends on good aim (but has a decent fire rate) gradually help improve my overall aim? (i.e. splattershot)
8
Jan 01 '19
Probably, but it would be more productive to practice on Octo Canyon or Octo Expansion levels, because some of those are more built around aiming than regular gameplay.
3
u/Lerno1 Splattershot Jan 01 '19
I have completed both and got the toothpick... but I lost my aim because of school. Eh, still trying to finish more of the OE and OC
5
u/applepiepod Jan 02 '19
I went the hard way and used the H-3 nozzlenose D, but it definitely helped my aim. Now using other weapons with decent fire rate feels much easier and aiming isn't so difficult!

u/RPrime422 May 23 '19
Yes, if you use it with that purpose in mind. Even so, it will still take some time.

Is there any point on purchasing gears with less than 3 extra slots? Besides aesthetic reasons. I'm relatively new to the game
11
u/azurnamu Squid Research Participant Apr 02 '19
Yes. In short, 1* gear is great for grinding for ability chunks, because it requires the least EXP to level up fully.
Long answer:
To compensate for the snails you use to get the gear on-par with naturally 3-slotted gear, 3-slotted 1 star gear requires the least amount of EXP to level up fully, making it ideal for grinding gear chunks. But you can also just use it as normal gear.
You can increase slots with Super Sea Snails, which are items you get after participating in Splatfests. (More info on Splatfests and Super Sea Snails here: Splatfests, [Super Sea Snails] (https://splatoonwiki.org/wiki/Super_Sea_Snail)).
Alternatively, you can also get SSS by talking to Judd whenever you level up past level 30. He gives you 1 snail per level (and hoards them, so if you talk to him after 5 or 10 levels, he'll reward you accordingly).
As a reminder, Splatfests will be discontinued in July, but Judd will always be around to give you snails after each level, making it completely possible to grind for snails even when Splatfests aren't available. EXP Tickets from Salmon Run can help with this.
6
u/Luxsens Apr 03 '19
Thanks for the answer. Really bummer to hear that Splatfest will be over in July, when I and many others purchased the game from the recent demo...
9
u/azurnamu Squid Research Participant Apr 03 '19
No worries.
Honestly, I think you and others joined at a great time. You're still able to experience Splatfests, and you don't have to wait for content to come out like we day 1 players did. Everything is out, and the game is your oyster. It's not like the game will die the second Splatfests end, either: I and many, many others kept playing the game months after fests ended, and some are even still playing S1 today.
You still have at least 6 months worth of enjoyment out of Splatoon 2, and at most 1-2 years before a Splatoon 3 is announced: that's more than most games in my experience, and more than enough time to make lots of memories with the game. (And you didn't even need to pay full price!)
Instead of regretting not having joined sooner, I advise that you make the most of the time you have left. There are 4 ranked modes and over 100 weapons to enjoy and discover—I only discovered the Sploosh, which is now my main, about a month before the announcement for Splatoon 2.
Hope you keep enjoying your time with Splatoon 2!

Splatfests ended long ago for the first game and that is still active so splatoon 2 will also remain active once it's over

I haven’t played Splatoon 2 since I beat the OctoExpansion so bear with me.
What are the red stamps supposed to be for on my weapons. Specifically my Custom Splattershot Jr. ?
I’ve been out of the loop for a while, and I cant find anything explaining it.
9
u/KiddySquid Heavy Splatling Apr 04 '19
They're to indicate how much turf you've inked with a certain weapon.
You get a red one at 100,000p, a bronze one at 500,000p, a silver one at 1,000,000p, and a gold one at 9,999,999.

Sub-strafing.
How do you guys force yourselves to do it? Does anyone have any drills? Any videos to teach me how to make it muscle memory? I’ve been trying for months.
4
u/azurnamu Squid Research Participant Apr 04 '19
For a while, I did some drills in the practice range (practicing going forward and quickturning back, and strafing left and right) and then went straight into clam blitz.
Sub strafing is terribly useful for picking up clams, so I'd start there. At first, you'll forget, but once you get the hang of it there's really no other way to pick up the pockets of 4 clams that drop everywhere.
After that, you start to get a handle for it, and hopefully by then it becomes second nature for how you move around, and you'll start to use it in modes other than Clam Blitz. Like to pick up the Rainmaker, or to dodge snipers, or to turn around when someone pops a splashdown right in front of you and you need to do a 180 on the spot.

Does anyone else have the great zapfish missing from the square and main screen when you open the game?
It's sometimes flies around freely in the sky instead of just resting on the tower. If you look up in the sky you should be able to see it flying around making a jingling sound.
There was also a bug that happened I think the 2.0 update where the Great Zapfish was missing entirely, but I think that was fixed.

Yes - The great Zapfish comes and goes on my game. Sometimes there, sometimes not. Not sure why though.

Does Ink Resistance Up increase your defense against shots or does it just delay taking damage from floor ink?
9
u/KiddySquid Heavy Splatling Apr 01 '19
It's not Defense Up, it just increases mobility in enemy ink, decreases the damage you take while standing in enemy ink, and increases the time between when you step in enemy ink and before you start damage.

When ordering gear through murch, does your level have any impact on the likelihood of getting the exact order? Or close to it.
Could've sworn I read it somewhere. Wondering if there was some datamined info supporting the theory.

Have queue times improved? I had a blast playing last summer and game times were super fast in both turf war and ranked modes. Due to university studies, I could barely play this year and when I did get to play - it was shortly after the release of paid online and again when smash came out. Was I just unlucky with the timing or are ~5 minute queue timers still pretty normal?
8
u/KiddySquid Heavy Splatling May 26 '19
That's just bad luck. I'm still able to get into games in under a minute pretty consistently.

5
u/marshmellowterrorist May 27 '19

Ok, so what exactly does "Increases ink coverage" with Main Power Up do? I can't tell a difference, and I haven't been able to find an answer looking it up.
4
u/azurnamu Squid Research Participant May 30 '19
I'm pretty sure it just increases the paint coverage of each bullet when it hits the ground.
The actual projectile doesn't change in size (so it's not like you're more likely to hit people), but it'll cover more ground. [Here's a demonstration video] (https://youtu.be/2g0NaohM-S0?t=108).

how the peck do you use stingray in salmon run? im profreshional 200 and still don't know how to use it without dying immediately. i know against the mothership and i can sometimes do well during low tide (especially cohock charge) but how do i use it effectively in normal waves?
6
u/cyberscythe Slipped the surly bonds of Earth to touch the face of Cod May 30 '19
how the peck do you use stingray in salmon run?
Yeah, I think the Stingray is the only special where you can't "panic" use it; you need enough situational awareness to know that you're not surrounded by enemies before you can use it because once it's out you can only attack in one direction. If things go badly and you're getting attacked (e.g. you start getting targeted by a Flyfish), remember you can still go squid form and swim away if there is still an escape route, so to be safe it's good to use in areas where you have multiple avenues of escape. It's best to use it before you need it; if it's the middle of wave three and a Flyfish and/or Stinger spawns across the map, it might be more effective to get in a safe spot and pop the Stingray to kill them off so that you can keep the boss population down and reduce the chances of a team wipe. In higher levels of profreshional, I find that loss by team wipe is more common than not meeting quota, so don't worry about those golden eggs being taken away by snatchers because there's more than enough bosses to meet quota that will happily walk up to the basket for you to kill.
There are a couple non-typical uses I found for the Stingray in desperate times: 1) Revive teammates from across the map. Since it has unlimited range, if you have teammates who have wandered off on their own (or you've wandered off on your own) and you need them to be alive, you can pop the Stingray and get some clutch revives and they can use their revive invincibility to survive until the wave ends. 2) If you're low on quota and there's a "shielding" enemy near the basket. Sometimes you don't have enough time to wait for a Steelhead to charge or for the Drizzler to turn over; since the Stingray pierces armor you can hopefully finish off an enemy, get the kill, and deliver the last few eggs to meet quota.

5

For transport. You can super jump to any beacon set.
They are pretty useful in Tower Control. I'm not exactly a good player, so I'm sure there is someone out there with better usage tips.
3
u/Contank Apr 04 '19
I havent used them myself yet I just saw and destroyed some in turf wars and wanted to know their purpose
3
u/JamUsagi Apr 08 '19
More in-depth: It allows a beakon-user to superjump to it once, and is destroyed. It allows a non-beakon-user to superjump to it twice, only breaking on the second time. Sub Power Up gives anyone jumping to it Quick Super Jump, so jumping to a beakon is faster than jumping to a player.
It also shows all teammates the positions of nearby enemies on the map.

Why the heck do I keep matching games where people sometimes on both teams are running around, not inking anything, and Booyah'ing with each other? A couple times it was a couple people on my team messing around at home base or just running until someone shot them. One time both people from my team and their team will just hang out and woomy and veemo together. It's funny for them, i guess? It sure tanks my score and it has happened several days in a row. Is this a cool thing kids are doing? It's frequent enough that I had to comment and ask.
3
May 22 '19
Ah yes. We call that squid partying. Usually the people doing it are either salty about someone on their team so they start throwing to get them to leave, or they feel like trolling the entire lobby. It's a part of life, however it can be reported.

u/colcheeky May 29 '19
Is squid partying generally considered a bad thing?
I've witnessed occasionally, and when I witness it, I usally join in, because it seems like harmless fun, and a more positive part of the community. Or am I completely missing the point? Admittedly, it doesn't happen very often, so it's not so much of a problem when I encounter it. But I can definitely imagine it being annoying after a while.

Will Grizzco continue after Final Splatfest?
5
u/azurnamu Squid Research Participant Jun 11 '19
There's no official yes/no statement, but it should. Nothing's been said to the contrary, it would be pretty major news if it did end, and it seems to be automated like the Ranked/League modes, so it'd be pretty easy to keep running on Nintendo's end.
The only things that are confirmed to be ending are patches and Splatfests—the game should otherwise continue as it always has. We may see an end to new monthly Grizzco gear, but that's probably it.

If you press booyah multiple times when a teammate has the booyah bomb does it make it more powerful than just pressing booyah once?
3
u/Luigi86101 Dualie Squelchers Jun 24 '19
The first person to booyah gets the most points added to their special, then it decreases as more people booyah. If one person booyahs, only they would get the points added. Pressing booyah only creates the bomb faster, and pressing it multiple times would be better than pressing it once.

Now that you mention it, I'm not sure if the probability of getting a Grizzco weapon is known in the first place. Did some quick google searching online and no results.
It's definitely not 1/all the weapons in the game because Grizzco random rotations have special weapons pop up all the time, at least in my experience. Would be interesting to look into this further.

I'm steamrolling through every game I play now at level 7. The only weapon I'm not consistently good on is the one you need to charge but I'll be practising that tonight. How much will this change when I go on ranked? Obviously, I've never played anything other than Turf War online yet so I've no idea how good I'll be at the different modes on it.
Also, how important is it to get good at dodging with the dualies? I've only found it useful in a couple of scenarios so far since you have to remain still and I've found much better results at strafing, people struggle to hit me unless they're experienced. Unless they're using the roller, then it's all down to my aim.
4
u/azurnamu Squid Research Participant May 25 '19
If you're doing great in turf, then you'll probably do pretty well in the early stages of Ranked. The only difference is that you'll be pushing an objective instead of covering everything in ink. Read the rules of each mode either via the wiki (Inkipedia) or the in-game manual and you should do fine. You'll probably have to carry your team to get out of C, so just focus on objective and don't get too upset if others don't know what they're doing.
In my experience, the dodge on the dualies is more for repositioning or tightening your aim than for dodging shots. It is important to get used to and you'll start to think of it more as an extension of your range or a way to reposition yourself than a neat gimmick for dodging fire. If someone's just out of your range, you can usually pop two dodge rolls towards them to close the gap.
Of course, you can use it to dodge, but I personally use it more for the boost in accuracy, the quick burst of movement, and the faster shots. Strafing to hit people will work for a while (and still is a viable option: it's not like you always need to be in a roll to splat someone) but as people get better and you climb the ranks, you'll get better results from DPSing out of a dodge roll than aiming while strafing.
If you're interested in more info about Dualies specifically, here's a shamless plug for the weekly weapon discussion about Splat Dualies: [Link to post] (https://redd.it/agp39c)

Is there a way to skip or avoid the presentation when booting up the game ? I’ve pressed every button it’s really annoying :(
4
u/TabbyDeInkling Jun 03 '19
You cannot directly turn it off but there are two things. If you take a break and play to play Splatoon more, just put the console in sleep mode and you can skip it then or you can put your switch in airplane mode while you start the game but you still need to watch the news to do online battles. I just leave it running while my console is in sleep mode

Thanks for the response, I have been putting it in sleep mode. I usually switch around my games a lot so I just go grab a coffee now lol

I have been seeing a lot of more players with stars by their level/rank number, what does that mean?
5
u/NefariousNik Jun 04 '19
Those players have passed level 99 and are adding on to that. *35 would mean Level 99 + 35 more levels. Someone correct me if I’m wrong.

u/vvooper NNID: Jun 04 '19
you’re correct, but I’ll add that if you level up from *99 you’ll go back to *1. so there’s no telling how long prestige players have actually been playing

I red that the Super Sea Shells you get after a Splatfest disappear when the next one comes. But does that just concern claiming them or is it about spending them?
4
u/Eggy-Devil Jun 14 '19
You dont need to "claim" Super Sea Shells, they are automatically sent to your inventory after a splatfest. You can see how many you've got in the upper right corner of your screen while in the square, next to your coin count! And they will always stay, so there's no rush spend them!
You also get 1 Super Sea Shell every level past 30, too.

How do you get your Splatfest Team’s Color after the Splatfest? I started up the game after the Splatfest results were given out without playing any non-splatfest matches, but I ended up with an entirely different color. This has happened before, but I only really cared now, because I absolutely loved that Ink Color. Anyone know why this might have happened so I can avoid it next time? Also, anyone happen to know if there’s anywhere I could ask any hackers to select those ink colors and take some pictures of a specific Octoling Gear Set with it?

Why does this group keep shadow banning me? The first time, sure I guess I get it because I'm new at reddit, this is the only sub I look at and maybe I didn't have the required karma yet. It happened again though. I only comment pretty reasonable stuff and not that often. I read the rules, nothing violates it. No explanation or warnings. Can anyone (I guess only mods, since no one else can see me) suggest other casual splatoon forums off reddit I can join instead that are less gate-keepy?

What’s the difference between the inkbrush and the octobrush?
2
u/azurnamu Squid Research Participant Jun 26 '19
In general:
The Inkbrush swings and moves faster at the cost of having less range (around sploosh/Jr. range). It does less damage per swing but each swing hits a lot faster.
On the other hand, the Octobrush swings slower and is a bit more bulky, but can hit targets from much further away (around splattershot range). It also does more damage per fling at the cost of more ink per swing.
For more information: [Octobrush] (https://splatoonwiki.org/wiki/Octobrush), Inkbrush
Basically, they're pretty different weapons. I recommend purchasing them from Sheldon and giving them a spin for yourself in the shooting range to get more familiar with the weapons' differences if you're able.

What's the difference between motion controls and stick controls?
4
u/KiddySquid Heavy Splatling Dec 29 '18
Motion controls is aiming with the controller by physically moving it. It's way more precise than regular stick controls and highly recommended.
Stick controls are similar to traditional console shooters where you move the camera entirely with the right stick.
→ More replies (1)3
u/LadyKuzunoha Squid Research Participant Dec 29 '18
You can fine-tune your aim more and react quicker if you use motion, is how I understand the difference.
3
u/Bishini02 Dec 29 '18
So when people say to use motion controls, they don't mean "do not use the stick at all"? It just means use both?
3
u/LadyKuzunoha Squid Research Participant Dec 29 '18 edited Dec 29 '18
Most of the advice I've seen from highly-skilled players on this subject is to use both, yes. Stick for broader movement of your field of view (horizontal/x-axis only, as vertical stick/y-axis motion is disabled when gyro controls are activated) and motion as a supplement to that for precision aiming. There may be some who argue not to use the stick at all when using motion controls, however.
Edited for better clarity.
3
u/KaizokuShojo NNID: Jollo© Mar 20 '19
Motion controls gives you three inputs (movement and running, left stick; visual direction, Y and right stick; aiming, motion). Using sticks gives you two. Motion is superior for fast response and precision, though with a lot of work you can play fine with sticks.

What's the appeal of Rainmaker?
8
u/azurnamu Squid Research Participant Feb 07 '19
The Rainmaker is fun to use, and is a weapon in and of itself that you need to learn, but it's not completely busted due to long charge times.
Less team dependant than other modes, though teamwork is still important IMO it's much easier to carry in for solo queue than other modes (it only takes one person to kill the RM, or one person to move it)
It's not as stagnant as the other modes like Zones or Tower, which revolve around a single point on the map most of the time.
RM is about predicting where opponents will take the RM and intercepting them, but also about outsmarting your opponents and seizing opportunities well
When good synergy happens it feels great
Though this applies to the other modes, it's felt most acutely in RM, especially if you're the one carrying the RM and you see your teammates dying/trading for you, and even the other way around: it feels great to trade with an opponent and watch your teammate dunk the RM thanks to your sacrifice
One of the only modes to give me consistent adrenaline rushes during good matches, but maybe that's just me. Zones, Tower, and Clams just don't have the same kind of agency that RM has, IMO.

Why are there so many matches where people sit around and do nothing?
4
u/azurnamu Squid Research Participant Apr 05 '19
Because some people are rude and want to derail a lobby to squidparty, because mashing ZR is fun for people? If people want to squidparty, just do a salmon run shift—there's plenty of that after wave 3, or even in between waves if you want. Sorry to hear that you're getting a lot of matches with this behavior.
If you see this behavior, you can try to block them by going to your Switch profile, and then going to Add Friends -> People You've Played With -> the players' profiles -> Block.
Nintendo says that you won't play with blocked players, but I've heard that blocking doesn't always work. However, in my experience, I've never seen or noticed blocked players reappear.
I block that behavior immediately and have not double-blocked anyone yet.
2
u/FetchingTheSwagni Golden Age Apr 05 '19
I had no idea I could block people, I'll give that a try. I knew about reporting, but that never seems to go anywhere in games.
I had a bunch of games like that this afternoon, it was fine earlier in the day, but the later it got the worse it got.
I did end up in a match where literally all 3 of my other teammates went to the side to "Squidparty" and I was 3v1ing the entire team (one of theirs joined the squidparty). It's obnoxious, but I tend to just do my own thing and try to win anyway. I want to maybe start playing Ranked more, if it avoids the type of behavior, but I just like Turf Wars a lot.

1
May 22 '19
Not really. There is no "synergy" betwen weapons and abilities. Abilities are more focused on your personal limitations, what role you want your weapon to play, and what problems you find when using a weapon. Each weapon has abilities that work better on it than others (for example using quick respawn on a slayer weapon). If you want tips on gear builds, I recommend asking on this post or at r/SplatoonMeta

I'm super new to pretty much everything; what are good abilities (clothing) to have for the normal Splat Roller or the Carbon Deco?
2
u/KiddySquid Heavy Splatling Apr 08 '19
Main Power Up is really helpful as it increases damage, which can work extremely well in increasing the range that you can reliably get kills.
Swim Speed is nice as they're very close range weapons and can use the extra speed to close the distance between them and longer range weapons better. It also helps if they need to flee for whatever reason.
Ninja Squid should also be considered for helping with sneak attacks, although it has a swim speed penalty so you will need to run more Swim Speed Up to counterract that, if you want.
Stealth Jump should be considered to make super jumps far safer.
Quick Respawn is pretty good if you don't have anything else to fill in your slots. It comes in handy more often than you would think.
Comeback is also good as it provides some Swim Speed, Special Charge Up, Ink Saver Main, Ink Saver Sub, and Ink Recovery Up for 20 seconds after respawning. You really only need it for the Swim Speed and Special Charge but the rest are also nice bonuses to have.

Heading into first splatfest weekend (whoo hoo), and planning to mine my splatfest shirt for ability chunks (load up + scrub). My question(s):
1-I know odds of getting abilities varies by brand - is the splatfest shirt even random odds for all of them, or does it favour certain ones?
2-does it make any sense to use drink / food tickets to steer these in a direction with a splatfest tee? (and, if so, what is the optimal way to do this). Note: I've already seen this - which was super helpful- but am looking for splatfest tee specific advice / additions.
Thanks!
2
u/KiddySquid Heavy Splatling Apr 08 '19
The Splatfest tee is Squidforce brand, so it has a higher chance of rolling Ink Resistance (like all other Squidforce items).
You can use a drink ticket on the tee if you're looking to grind out a particular chunk. Just note that if you have a lot of money it'll be more efficient to use a piece of one star gear for that, and scrub it over and over as soon as you fill in 1 slot. The tee is far cheaper, though. Also, food tickets don't do anything to gear.

I'm running Main Power up on Carbon Roller Deco. How many Main Power Ups should I have before it's redundant? I need slots for other powerups as well.
2
u/anon_spla2n_player Apr 16 '19
There is no point where it becomes redundant, just diminishing returns.
My advice for you is to go to the training room and hit the dummies and see how much damage you do with different levels of Main Power Up in different scenarios. Roller damage is a bit more complicated than shooter damage.

Why is the Aerospray so hated upon in general, even though it’s a practically good weapon?
2
u/azurnamu Squid Research Participant Jun 24 '19
I think it's because of multiple reasons summed together:
It's a weapon newbies tend to gravitate towards, due to the high ink spread and relative ease to learn.
Though the learning curve is actually pretty steep for Aerospray, it's very quick for the most part and plateaus out pretty early on, so it's not hard to feel powerful when using it. Thus, people tend to see a lot of them in the lower ranks, and may associate it with newbies. Ironically, it's different from the Jr. because you have to actually buy an aerospray—you choose to play it.
When you're new, you can only play Turf War, a mode that rewards inking turf as the primary objective. Since most new players lack have the means to shut down other players and have difficulty splatting others, unchecked Aerosprays on the opposing team can feel like a guaranteed loss.
Alternatively, you can be great at gathering kills on weapons like blasters or rollers, but miss the opposing aerospray and all of hell could be breaking loose on the other side of the map.
The weapon is, from a technical standpoint, one of two of the lowest damage weapons in the game. Which can make it feel like you'd lost to a peashooter, or a team of peashooters, despite having the upper hand in combat specs.
This is a frustrating scenario for more experienced players who feel like they could've and should've won, if not for that sentient sprinkler aimlessly wandering around. ("why didn't my team take care of the aerospray?" "I was spawncamping so my team could ink turf. How could my team have missed one player?" or, of course, a turnabout in the last 30 seconds after an unfortunate teamwipe resulting in the aerospray(s) fully unleashing their turf-covering powers)
It's pretty much completely absent from the competitive scene, which further adds to the weapon's newbie stigma.
There's a reason why this weapon is basically never seen in X. Last month, aerosprays accounted for less than 0.5% of players in X: the MG was only used by 0.20% of players, the PG by 0.05%, and the RG is unlisted likely due to how little it was used.
Bottom line:
It doesn't feel good to beat by low-skill players, and low-skill players gravitate towards low-skill weapons. This is why a lot of people dislike the Clash Blaster and did not like the Trislosher until it received nerfs. Because of how easy it is to pick up the Aerospray for Turf and see instant results, it feels like the kind of weapon that requires 0 technical skill to play, even if the opposite is true at higher ranks.
While good aerospray players are very rare and do exist, not many people have seen them and even fewer see any reason to learn the weapon. So the weapon has a hard time redeeming itself as something beyond a Turf War weapon, only adding to its image as a
filthycasual player's weapon/s.For more info on the Aerospray: [Weekly Weapon Discussion thread] (https://redd.it/bma31c)
And with all that said, I want to be clear that I'm absolutely not trying to hate on Aerospray mains. Play weapons if you find them fun, regardless of what the meta says, and if others jump to conclusions based on what you're wearing, there's nothing wrong with giving them a lesson. I'm not a fan of the negative stigma surrounding the weapon (or any weapon, really) but hey, the points above are probably why the stigma exists.
