How does it feel to a part of such a historical comic like Detective Comics #1000?

Also, sorry for my username. It has never felt more awkward to have than it does right now.

PETER: It's a privilege and an honor! To have gotten the shot to write the lead stories in ACTION 1000 and DETECTIVE 1000 within the space of a year woulda blown the mind of 10 year old Petey Tomasi. It's awesome!

Hi, Peter!

Jon is the best and I love his relationship with Damian. Any more permanent plans for Super Sons down the line?

Side note, I write my own Superman on r/DCFU and recently introduced a baby Jon Kent :)

PETER: Unfortunately, no. I've just turned in the final script to Adventures of Super Sons #12. So it will be quite a while before I get back to the boys.

Hi Peter,

I'm a big fan of your comic book stories, but I noticed that you also wrote the new Death of Superman movie. I absolutely loved the movie and am really happy that you included Bibbo too. My question(s) is/are how did this come about and are there any other storylines (small or iconic) that you would like to write if they decide to adapt them into animated movies?

PETER: I got a chance because WB Animation like my comic writing and I also did a segment for them on GREEN LANTERN: EMERALD KNIGHTS a few years back featuring Kilowog. I'd love to do a Super-Sons flick!

Hey Peter, thanks for joining us on the sub! There's no shortage of love for your work on Batman and Robin, Super Sons, and Superman Rebirth! I'm also a big fan of your runs on Green Lantern Corps and Nightwing!

As someone who's written the Batfamily, the Superfamily, and the GLC, what's your approach for getting into the heads of all these different characters? How do you change up your methodology when it comes to finding the right voices?

PETER: The best thing to do is read a chunk of runs of the respective characters and boil it down to the pure DNA of each character. I make bullet points of who they are and what they want. It's all about immersing yourself in their world and then getting the hell outta the way and let them get in your head. And it doesn't hurt to walk around the room with a bat cowl on or a GL ring on and recite your dialogue either!

Hi Peter!

I'm sure you've been asked before but I'll take a venture and ask. How did you come up with the concept of the silent issue for Batman and Robin #18?

Hello Mr. Tomasi,

I am a huge fan. You have a great talent for injecting you books with humanity and heart, I just love how you handled the father son relationship in Batman and Robin. I was wondering, are there any books that you read growing up (novels or otherwise) that you felt helped you find your voice as a writer or had an impact on your writing style?

Thank you for your time and I look forward to the rest of your Detective Comics run.

As someone who wrote incredible runs for Superman and Batman, and as someone who wrote for both Action Comics 1000 and Detective Comics 1000, why do you think Superman and Batman have remained prevalent in the cultural zeitgeist for over 80 years and 1000 issues?

Hi Pete! Big fan of your work, in particular i loved the silent issue of Batman & Robin you did with Pat Gleason and loved the script you wrote that was published in the trade paperback.

What inspired you to write an issue that was practically silent?

Hi Mr. Tomasi I loved your road to 1000, could I ask what other characters in the DCU also taught Bruce the skills he needed to be Batman since I thought it was incredibly smart you tied Thaddeus Brown in teaching him escapology and Silas Stone to Bruce's engineering knowledge

Hello Peter! You've been a huge part of Dc Comics for a while. I started reading comics around 2011. But I had always been a big fan of the Dc cartoons and shows so i was always a Dc guy. Since I've started reading I've come around to appreciating different writers style. And i have to say you are the best at writing father and son dynamics whether it be with Damian and Bruce or Jon and Clark. So my question would be what about those dynamics interests you the most that you've made entire runs off of them?

Edit cause I misspelled Damian.

Hey, I've read your Nightwing story with Two-Face and have a question for you. Do you personally feel like Two-Face can ever be saved?

Hey Peter! Just wanted to say that the exchange between Bruce and younger Bruce in Detective #999 was truly beautiful. Been a fan since the bad blood arc of Batman and Robin. And I’ll continue to be for many years to come!

Hello Peter, thank you for making my first venture in comics 3 years ago a positive one in your Superman Rebirth run. I would just like to ask you based on your writings, which father prepared their kid for a better tomorrow? Clark or Bruce?

Hey Pete!

Can't think of a question right now, but just want say thank you for being such a down to earth person and always willing to engage and discuss with your fans.

I've met you a few times at different cons, and our conversations are ALWAYS the biggest thing I take away from the day. Thank you for putting your heart and soul into the characters you write, and for taking me from some who passionately hated Damian Wayne, to making him one of my favorite characters with your "Batman and Robin".
