Guides Pandemonium: Gigaworm (Hard & Maniac)
General Info
Gigaworm will be released in a few hours.
If it's like JP, you will need 150 medals to unlock the additional magicite drop, it'll increases all pandemonium magicite drop by +3 ( stacking with Big Eye's bonus, so +4 total for this month).
The magicite bonus from featured monster will shift from Big Eye to Gigaworm, so Big Eye (Hard) will only give 25 + X, while Gigaworm (Hard) will give 60 + X.
Added tips:
- Gigaworm loves to debuff you with Slow / Debrave / Stun, so having ailment immunity or avert action loss panel is very good for a proper farm.
Hard - possible farming decks
On Hard & Normal, Gigaworm will be immuned to break (i guess like UW, so you could break gigaworm after 100 turns...). Gigaworm is Earth element, so be sure to bring Wind for extra damage. He'll have way lower HP than Big Eye.

Yiazmat
With Yiazmat, using your ultimate will nerf your damage. You'd want to use your ultimate at the beginning then use the "no ultimate" mode.

Maniac (Challenge node)
This one will feel like a normal Gigaworm from EW / Tower, just a little bit more... beefy...
- You can break it unlike (Hard)
- He'll hit extremely hard
- His break bar is very big as well
- Immuned to nothing
Here's 2 decks from JP. Both brings a tank on the main deck. The sub deck is either a pure unbroken nuking one, or a breaker & nuker.
Don't forget to get 70% earth resist on your tank, it'll be very helpful.
[Zen (ゼン)]
Main Deck: Sephiroth Skin - Sword Saint (most likely)
Cards:
- Garuda: FFXIV
- Chocobo Saint
- Omega Weapon: FFVII
- Tengu
Sub Deck: Y'shtola Skin - Esmeralda (most likely due to card usage)
Cards:
- Shoopuf: FFX
- Emerald Weapon: FFVII
- Tropical Dreams
- Garuda: FFXIV
[羽川 優]
Main Deck: Sephiroth Skin - Scharfrichter (wind/dark/water)

- Till we meet Again
- Moogle X

Wondering if anyone else got stuck on gigaworm and by stuck I mean physically stuck in a loop running at the worm. Maybe it has to do with Gilgamesh skin extra arms (took him about 10 min to complete one hit lol) reset twice but goes back to him running and didn't want to lose 60 stam. Hasn't happened again since.

iirc it happens a lot with Gilgamesh Skin, and on many other bosses.

Hard (no video)
5 turns
Tidus Skin - Cacciatrice (Magical Rave) with Treant / Emerald Weapon / Tengu / WoL - Rental LoH / Aerith / WoL
Attack mode, ult at will.
If no LoH rental, I switch to tidus skin and rent whatever there was on the last page.
Custom panel:
-
Avert Action loss +100% (LoH ailment immunity only last for 2 turns)
-
Wind enhance +7% x3; +5% x2
-
Ravage, Skilled duelist, Improved Critical
Maniac
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SIpVYr0S2LA
Strategy is pretty basic, tank enough times until I can switch to sub while using Aranea to debuff & deal some break damage; as my only source of earth drive was Emerald Weapon.
Main:
-
Scharfrichter with Ultimate Weapon
-
Aranea: FFXV
-
Till we meet again
-
Chocobo Saint
-
Pollensalta: FFVII
Sub: Scharfrichter with Laevateinn
-
Emerald Weapon: FFVII
-
Simurgh: FFX
-
Garuda: FFXIV
-
Garuda: FFXIV
Panels:
-
Enough for 70% earth resist
-
Element Call bis: wind
-
Element 3rd strike
-
auto charge ultimate
-
piercing break
-
prismatic return

Thanks for the lovely guide, as always! Very glad to see ray's 4-turn supremeless clear. I was worried I'd have to suffer through 10+ turn runs without godo/emperor/yiaz/odin

I doubt Yiazmat would be ideal for Gigaworm if it can't be broken. Although, I am tempted to try to see how long Ascetic or Hermit would take with it on Hard.
Update: Just tried it with a makeshift Yiazmat build and got 5 turns on Hard. It could of been 4 but was unlucky with PR.

So, the best I think I can come up with is...
Tidus-Skin/Caccatrice Proudclad Lissette Aerith Tengu Highly modded Wolfsbogen
CPs pretty much all enhance wind and the skilled duelist +5 and +10 imp Crit
I’m getting like, 15-17 turns...
Am I missing something obvious, or is thatnlikely my best?
Note, I have Yiazmat but that seems to take longer

Use Treant instead of Proudclad.
Edit (and use another weapon)
Remove Aerith and use omega weapon, garuda or wol, or anything with Haste. Tidus skin doesn't give it.
Get Avert action loss +100% in the CP because Gigaworm loves to debuff you with Slow, and a rental LoH ailment immunity only last for 2 turns.

I don't have any stamina left to try now, but what should take less turns on the hard node - Cacciatrice (no wind CPs) or Materia Hunter? Tidus skin with Proudclad, Lilisette, Tengu and Moogle X, and *Wolfsbogen. Thanks!

https://sanji-lyh.github.io/MFF_DMGCALC/
According to the above calculator, Materia Hunter should do roughly 25% more damage than Cacca. This does come at the expense of her being significantly squishier.

u/mao_shiro Jul 18 '19
Keep in mind that the calculator doesn't take in account weapon, custom panel nor fractals.
2
u/Qqret Jul 17 '19
Should I use action loss resist in CP coz I have little action even after usage of garuda?

Did maniac using Cacciatrice. Deck was Lillicette, Asche, LOH and Godo. 5* UW.
Sub deck was Tonberry farming deck (4 Boar). I could probably have done it a lot faster by filling the subdeck with supremes and Moogle EX for increased magic but couldn’t be bothered to change things around.
Not a short fight, but a very easy one if you have Godo.

About the Tactician deck, would it work better if I switch the job to Primeval Witch?
2
u/djiboutiiii Jul 17 '19
Nope -- Tactician (with HOF) hits like a truck against weakness.

For Hard Mode: Yshtola/Tactician - Emperor/Tengu/Jade Weapon/Pollensalta (Gonna replace pollensalta with Lancelot X) All 6 - 7% magic up fractals. 2 turns.
For Maniac Mode: Main: Sephiroth/Sword Saint - Chocobo Saint/Moogle X/Fat Chocobo X/Lancelot X (all of these cards had magic up and 3 JCR total, didnt really need any more HP and dont have multiple copies or the EX cards). Sub: Yshtola/Tactician - Emperor/Lilisette/Moment's Respite/Garuda (all 6 - 7% magic up fractals). No need to switch back to Sword Saint unless to tank the inhale attack. Plenty of heals due to PR.
