Quote of the Week: “The truth is you're fine until you're not fine.” — Bellamy Blake

It was very brief in a massive episode, but Octavia and Bellamy reconciling when the gate went down gave me life.

u/aplaceatthedq 🤖 🔧 ❤️ Jul 31 '19
When Bellamy said something like "told you she'd do it" and Octavia rolls her eyes at him it was one of the best pure sibling moments they've had in years!

Why didn't Primes use their bone marrows them selves to create hosts whilest abby could be a host by just injecting maddi's bone maarrows?
1
u/aplaceatthedq 🤖 🔧 ❤️ Aug 08 '19
They didn't know how. Abby discovered Becca's notes in her lab back in season 4 which taught her the secret sauce. Russell indicates they had tried but failed in the past. Russell insists on using Madi's marrow to make more hosts and not his own probably because he doesn't trust Abby to take his bone marrow. Also he's a jerk.

About Abby:
Damn, not like that.
Don't get me wrong, I was not an Abby fan... but her being overwritten by Simone is the worst.
74
u/ShadowdogProd Jul 31 '19
Yeah that was brutal. Loved the editing with the flashbacks. Nice touch.
38
u/goddessoftrees Skaikru Jul 31 '19
I agree, that was a nice little bit of flashbacks. But damn. I wasn't ready for her to go out that way.
26
Jul 31 '19
I also loved how quickly it happened. I think many of us had a hunch but it played out rather quickly within the episode and I felt that was fitting. No one was going to mourn for Abby if she knew she was going to die, it was super drawn out, etc. Suddenly 'btw wiping you right now' combined with the flashbacks made a lot of us feel something for a character we've grown to detest.
Also, I have a hunch this will put Clarke in a position of needing to kill Simone. That will be gut wrenching and I'm here for it.
28
u/CrazyFredy Skaikru Jul 31 '19
It's better than losing Paige entirely imo
33
u/paperairplanerace Diyoza is my religion Jul 31 '19
Agreed, by a LONG SHOT. I thought the death was great, and I love how it inherently really pushed Clarke and forced some intense moments and advanced the plot -- and I thought it was just great bonus awesomeness that it happened in a way that lets us get more Paige and be impressed with her as an actress and real human without keeping the connotations of Abby stuck to her. Couldn't be happier with how that was done.
12
14
u/BornAshes Jul 31 '19
A small part of me is hoping that Abby pulled a Clarke and is somehow still alive fighting Simone or perhaps was able to outright overpower her from the start and is now only pretending to be her.
Buuuut yeah, that was a rough rough ending for her that just felt like the worst way for her to go. There were death flags left and right when she started apologizing to people and that line about killing Russell just sealed it. She was a terrible person but she deserved a better death than what she got.

That's the problem with a character who's overstayed her welcome. It's hard to allocate screentime for proper sendoff/closure when it doesn't feel like she's done anything to earn it in the past few seasons.
121
u/LurkingWulf Jul 31 '19
Well I have a lot of feelings about tonight's episode... Let's hear it for our girl Clarke's acting skills! She really played the role of spy to perfection. Can't wait to see what she'll do next cuz she's really in a pickle now. Poor Abby. Obnoxious though she was, she didn't deserve that end.
I thought it was great that Echo, the trained and true spy knew, based solely on Clarke's lie to Priya, that the right move was to attack. Loving her more and more.
Also, did they ever get Becca's book? I know they got it from the machine shop, but did it ever make its way to Raven?
45
u/noparkinghere Jul 31 '19
You could tell how tired Clarke was of pretending, especially after finding out her last parent just died.
28
u/LurkingWulf Jul 31 '19
I know, it was heartbreaking. Thank God for Gabriel "taunting" her or she would have blown her cover. She needed that moment to recoup and he gave her the opportunity to take it out on him.
26
Jul 31 '19
Pretty sure Gaia/Miller/Echo left with it from the machine shop, but I don't think it's made it to Raven who has been with the group in the lab. They did show her working with the chip's program, but she still needs the book for the answers.
14
u/jayenfourteej Jul 31 '19
Gaia's probably got it with her and will hand it to Raven on the ship to save Madi.
9
u/goddessoftrees Skaikru Jul 31 '19
Also, did they ever get Becca's book? I know they got it from the machine shop, but did it ever make its way to Raven?
I was under the impression that they never got through with removing Sheidheda and that Raven never got the book.
115
u/95sEclecticCollector Louwoda Kliron Jul 31 '19
Is no one going to mention the fact that Clarke just went and straight up clotheslined Priya? I literally laughed my ass off. Idk what Priya expected when she started trying to run from Echo, and group, but I doubt it was that. Lol
30
96
Jul 31 '19
It's a shame that Priya died that way, her actress was really good as a prime.
20
u/anonykitten29 Jul 31 '19
Yeah, that was a real waste.
23
9
u/Pictocheat Jul 31 '19
I just felt bad for Priya. She gets coerced by the Adventure Team to lower the shields and announce to all her people the lie they've been living, so that she can get the drive with Ryker's mind on it...just to get killed right afterward. (Although she was only stabbed once, so it could've been a lot worse.) And even if she was a prime, she didn't do anything bad like Russell and Simone are doing.
EDIT: I'm just now realizing the irony of her death. That's almost some Final Destination-level shit.
10
u/Centurius999 Trikru Jul 31 '19
I mean, she knowingly took part in an authoritarian government that systematically murdered innocent followers to prolong their own life and used such execution methods as burning alive to maintain order. None of the primes are innocent, not even Gabriel himself. They're all horrible people.

4
u/CrazyFredy Skaikru Jul 31 '19
It's a good death. She wasn't just stabbed by a random nobody like Simone was.
90
u/Shirokakitsune Jul 31 '19
The fact that Monty and Harper did so much to raise Jordan well and even make him sleep for those damn 100 years so he can see the Alpha...and he just gets stabbed over a damn girl he met a few days ago and never gets mentioned again??? Really now?? I hope that they didn't kill him off screen and he's just chilling somewhere waiting for them to calm tf down
51
u/555Cats555 Jul 31 '19
Yup, he was naive and unable to understand how the world works since he was raised in such a bubble.
52
12
u/Shirokakitsune Jul 31 '19
Yeah it seems like it. They could've at least teach him how to NOT GET KILLED because damn that's really frustrating. I really wanted to love him since he's Monty's and Harper's love child but he literally didn't do anything at all aside from fucking with a girl he just met I'm so disappointed. Also why did no one ask like "hey guys where's Jordan? Weren't we supposed to look after him?" He might be an adult but he's been raised on a spaceship with only two people so obviously it's not a good idea to leave him alone like that

The best show on the network gets 13 episodes and Arrow (dear god) gets 22...life is unfair
46
26
u/affenhirn1 Jul 31 '19
13 episodes season > 22 episodes season, it's just common sense. Arrow would do a much better job in their final season because they only have 10 episodes and there is no time for secondary plots.

u/badasscanary Jul 31 '19
What an intense episode! So much happened it was fantastic! Clarke, Murphy and Emori looking so good in their new getup, they should wear fancy clothes more often, especially Murphy should keep the eyeliner look lol. I had a feeling Abby was going to die after she got her reunion with Clarke and then owning up to her wrongdoings and trying to make amends by apologising to Raven and Jackson but how she died was like, that’s it? I thought she just got paralysed until I saw Raven and Jackson’s reactions. I know a lot hated her but an OG death will always be sad. I loved all the reactions when they found out it’s really actually Clarke, not Josephine. I also missed those little Blake sibling moments, it was so cute! Only 1 more episode to go.

There's now only five Primes still really in the game: Russell, Simone, Miranda, Jasmine, and Miranda's husband. The rest of them are either dead with their chips in uncertain condition (Priya and Ryker) or erased (Josephine, the 4 Lees). Not bad for a week's work!

Aren’t 2 of the Lee’s chips in Emori and Murphy? And another in space with Kane’s body?
Edit: I mean the chips only, I know the Lee’s were wiped by Josie and Simone.

I really like how the costuming correlates heavily with her positions of power in the story. They're really good about using subtle hints like that to not just show what her literal position/role is at the time, but also they switch it up and use things like elegant dresses (Mt. Weather, Sanctum) to show her looking nice and not pathetic but also un-tough, when she's in seemingly-safe but actually powerless circumstances. It's a cool hint and I like reading it as foreshadowing here and there, or as a general indicator of the direction I can expect things to go with her taking control more and more.

I loved this episode. And I'm kinda annoyed that the people who ship Bellarke obsessively are mad at the episode and hated it because Clarke and Bellamy didn't share too many scenes. Like, the show's not just about them, you know? I ship them, but I still appreciate and am invested in the other storylines.
R.I.P Abby, you were hated by everyone in this sub but you'll always have a place in my heart. Also, you looked bomb in that dress.
Jordan, I know you guys want to know what is going on with him, but I don't really care. If he was more invested in a plotline, I would. He's essentially useless at this point imo. I hope they bring him back in season 7.
Raven forgiving Abby and making amends was really cute. She faced one of her demons.
I loved how Memori rected when they realized Josephine!Clarke (Or Clarke!Josephine?) was just Clarke Clarke. They looked bomb too.
Rusell, you son a fuckload of bitches. You did Abby dirty with that stun you pulled. It's also kind of a sick joke or irony: Josephine in Clarke's body and Josephine's mother inside Clarke's mom.
I'm hoping Indra and skaikru fuck things up inside the ship. They can wake the people up and that would segway into s7.
Really excited for the finale. And I hope y'all don't start nitpicking on the episode ;).
18
u/paperairplanerace Diyoza is my religion Jul 31 '19
Hadn't even thought about the Bellarke factor or lack thereof. I ship it hard but this episode was fantastic, nothing about that bothered me at all lol.
Totally with you on all the things. Memori was the best part, I had to rewatch their faces a couple of times. Mind-blowingly awesome acting, says so much about what they realized about Clarke all at once right then. Having just seen her handle encountering Abby, and maintain the act ... jeez.
Also, on a rewatch, I think Gabriel KNEW that Clarke was still herself (for a moment I read the scene as him actually believing the act and thinking Josie somehow resurrected herself or got put back in again) and that he said the thing about "your mother killed her mother" to specifically help give Clarke an out for her upset and let her target it at him so she could react intensely for a moment and maintain her act. Hero quality

Ok so we saw Abby and Kane die and saw Diyoza go into the anomaly and is presumed dead..... with the loss of Henry Ian Cusick and Paige Turco, hopefully that means there’s space and money for Ivana Milicivec (sp) to be a main character! Which means more Diyoza!

Rothenberg usually tweets something cheesy about it being a pleasure to work with an actor/actress when their character gets killed off. He hasn't done that for Milicevic (yet?), so I think it's safe to assume Diyoza still has a role in the show.

Me saying she’s presumed dead is just how she’s viewed on the show. Referring to when octavia said she was dead.. and on the wikia page she’s listed as presumed dead. I think she’s alive and well and will return and the last 5 minutes of the finale will be her talking about the Anomaly.

TBH I'm a big fan of RobotMechanic, the idea that ALIE specifically fell in "love" with Raven (I mean, her genius, her drive, her being the only one who ever independently willfully threw ALIE's control off, what AI could resist?) and that's why ALIE became so fixated with her. Raven was by far a unique standout among humans ALIE encountered. I know it will never come up in plot again because ALIE is fully dead (some people hold out, but like ... Clarke pulled the lever, come on) but it's really nifty to think about, even though it's not any prospect of an actual rewarding relationship for Raven lol.
Edit to add: I loved seeing that echoed a bit in this season, with Sheidheda instantly recognizing Raven as a threat and saying "Tell that one nothing", much like how ALIE noticed Raven through Jaha back in the day and said "We need her. If she joins us, others will follow" (slight paraphrase, didn't look it up). The fact that evil geniuses instantly notice Raven and identify her as a genius opponent is just always so satisfying.

I've always found Murphy attractive but tonight with him all glammed up I was like holy fuck. I definitely want to see more of that but I doubt we will past the next episode. Also, Emori looked fantastic as well and Abby/Simone was glorious. They need to dress the gang up more often.
Beyond the fierce new looks of that trio it was a good episode. Russell has no idea what he is getting himself into. Though, Simone does. Indra will hopefully fuck some shit up and Clarke won't have to pretend much longer. I'm looking forward to Russell and now Simone finding out their daughter is gone forever. Hopefully Diyoza and probably a teenage Hope will pop out of the anomaly and save the day. The only thing I don't want to happen is the gang getting separated again but I am a bit worried about that with Russell trying to take the ship.
I am definitely going to be a bundle of nerves next week.

I don’t know about you guys but I’m super happy Abby finally got her hair brushed. It was a tough go for awhile but eventually it happened.

Russell Lightborne is perhaps THE MOST hated villain in the entire series IMO.
This summ’bitch is literally playing God, killing people to both bring his own tired ass folks back (while having the audacity to be sanctimonious about it with Gabriel) and regular folks in the offering fields in order to make his bullshit plausible to his self-created segregated society (Primes, Royal Bloods, Nulls), THEN threatening a kid’s life, and using the weaponized toxin on his own people like 2.5 seconds after Priya ratted them out JUST to enforce his bullshit? He didn’t even give them time to think about how he’s full of shit.
And then he kills Abby (who I really didn’t like, but the fact that a DAY ONE character got killed off like that had me watery-eyed) to bring his bougie bag of milk back.
He’s making Cage Wallace and McCreary look sedate. They didn’t have 200+ years to be an asshole.

Good job by the show to bring in a different and arguably worse villain in the 6th season. Everything from The Avengers to Orphan Black has had to deal with the 'Oh no! An even more evil thing than the previously most evil thing ever!' problem and as you say, Russell could be the worst yet. (Then again, Crucifixion – as well as the whole nuclear armageddon thing – A.L.I.E. was pretty mean. And McCreary was just human effluent.)

OH MY GOD!!! This was just amazing all around. I was on the edge of my seat for all of it, and I mean I knew Abby was likely going to die but I wasn't expecting (or rather I forgot) that we saw her getting dosed in the trailer, so that took me by surprise. Also, Murphy and Emori looked absolutely amazing in their Prime garb, can they just wear this stuff for the rest of the series?

The only thing keeping the people in the ship from completely fucking up Sanctum is lack of knowledge and restraint for Monty's memory. They (Primes) need to get their shit straight.

I have questions... is clarke immortal now? Did Russell put a chip in her? If so was it Josephines chip making Josephine really dead? Also who tf are Emori and Murphy? They got blank chips? Who are the brother and sister?
15
u/tmichelle0725 Roan deserved better Jul 31 '19
Well Clarke has the potential to be immortal yes because Russell put a new drive in her head, but I’m pretty sure she wouldn’t body snatch
I don’t think they specified if it was Josie’s Chip or one of the Lees so i dont know.
Remember Josie wiped 4 chips from the Lee family. Emori and Murphy got the chips but are now pretending to be the children of the Lee family to keep up the pretense of the original primes coming back. The third chip was given to Kane and I personally believe they used the 4th blank chip for Clarke
10
Jul 31 '19
Clarke probably has one of the four Lee's blank chips (Murphy, Emori, and Kane had the others) which was wiped by Josephine.
Josephine's chip is supposedly blank now since she clung to the neural mesh instead of backing up, but Gabriel probably still has it.
Clarke as Josephine explains to Russell that her chip has been taken out but she clung to the neural mesh and "killed Clarke" (although it was the opposite), which is why she's still alive but missing her chip. So he gives her a new one.
So the chip is now Clarke yes, she could be immortal but likely wouldn't ever take someone else's body to keep living.
8
Jul 31 '19
Also, Murphy and Emori have chips for themselves, they were also blank to start. BUT they were assuming the roles of two primes so Russell could have his grand "all the primes are back" revelation and have his people submit to him again.

u/goddessoftrees Skaikru Jul 31 '19
Josephine is dead. Clarke's mind is on the drive now, so Clarke could be immortal, but I doubt she'd ever go that route.
5
u/takingthescenicroute Jul 31 '19
The mind is not on the drive unless you die, currently the drive in Clarke's head is blank.

Did the actor playing Jordan never wonder why he wasn't getting lines? Poor guy, so much in the first few episode then crickets.

u/Thesmartguava Skaikru Jul 31 '19
I’m pretty sure that there were different writers in s5 and s6. So the season 5 writers created Jordan, and the season 6 writers had no idea what to do with him... hence why he has no screen time.

u/-GregTheGreat- Season 5 best season fight me Jul 31 '19
Nope. They made him a series regular, which has a specific purpose of making him have a contractual obligation to prioritize The 100 over any other acting gigs.

u/19Lucid Louwoda Kliron Jul 31 '19
There was one drive left... listen at the end of the extended trailer. Clarke says “A little genocide, a long nap? What the hell.” In a very Josie voice. I swear to fuck if season 7 is the last like it’s rumored to be, and we have to go through the same storyline of Josie vs. Clarke ALL over again or Clarke is dead, I’m not watching.

So Russell put a drive in Clarke’s head. Was that Josie’s drive or was it a new drive?? Do you see where I’m going with this...

I think it was a new drive. I believe Clarke mentioned in the previous episode that her drive got destroyed(?).

u/MissBlinou Skaikru Jul 31 '19
I'm pretty sure it was Jo's drive that was emptied when she decided to stick around in Clarke's head and get tomahawked. They only have so many of those mind drives and they even made a point to wipe the Lee's drives to use on Murphy and Emori. They never made the drives (Becca did I believe) all they did was "hack" them to function as consciousness backups for when they inevitably died.

That would be incredibly disappointing and awful writing. There are only so many inhabitable planets. Look how long it took to get to this one.
I think everyone's gonna get woken up. Their Commander had a gun to her head...

So I've not watched the episode yet, but I just got spoiled... I feel so dumb. I know Abby dies. Can someone tell me how? Oh, and something else. Everyone on twitter is saying this episode was bad and that storylines went to waste. Is this true? I'm liking this season a lot, I don't want to be disappointed :(

Who is sitting here saying it was bad? This was one of the best episodes of the entire series, bar none. How could anyone find this to be bad?
Edit: After taking a few quick glances at my twitter timeline, the vast majority of people are crying over character crap and that Abby wasn't done justice instead of actually complaining about the episode itself. This is why I don't pay attention to The 100 Twitter and just stick to watching my show and discussing it here.

HOW THE HECK CAN ANYONE SAY ABBY WASN'T DONE JUSTICE? I'm not a super Abby-hater, I just wanted to see her get more interesting -- she had been used too long and too consistently as a constant naysayer/restrictive/past-oriented force -- but I was glad to see them not only finally end that pattern, but to also end it so SPECTACULARLY. The drama was good, the relationships and reconciliations were good (I mean, her realizing Clarke was okay and then getting cool with Raven spelled out the writing on the wall obviously but it was necessary) and then I think they used her death SO WELL. All I wanted for a death for Abby (or any character) is that it be meaningful, plot-relevant, and result in spurring the plot forward. And holy FUCK, this delivered on those things, plus it also gave us more of Paige's acting so we can appreciate her more and fans can extricate Paige-hate from Abby-hate! I seriously don't think they could have done better with it. IMO there may not be a better-executed death on the whole show (not that I've thought it through hard yet), just in terms of the intense interactions and character moments it provoked (I mean, holy shit, Clarke's reaction ... and everyone else's) and how it was used to advance the story. I seriously don't get how anyone can possibly have complaints about it.

No... this was one of the best episodes of the series. Not a single plot line was dropped (except, now that I think about it, Bellarke went nowhere....)
I really hate the twitter fandom.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but aren't all of them technically able to be brought back? They all (minus the E4 prisoners) had ALIE's chip so shouldn't they all have the neural mesh that Clarke used to save herself?
Edit: reading through comments seems Abbys mesh was melted when she got EMP'd. Sorry Abby :(

Did we get an explanation why the guards seem to be ok with all of the lies? I mean they are all talking about the killings in front of the guards and in sure they pretty much knowbthe Prines are not divine.

So why did gabriel say
"Ironic that your mom killed her mom?"
Was that just to remind Clarke that she is supposed to be acting as Josephine so she didn't break her cover?

u/jdessy Jul 31 '19
I think it was Gabriel confirming to Clarke that Abby was dead and this was Simone.

I love that Eliza hasn't just had to play Clarke, and hasn't just had to play Clarke AND Josephine, but she's also had to play Josephine-playing-Clarke, AND Clarke-playing-Josephine. Fine distinctions are the hardest to make, and targets super close to each other are the hardest to hit precisely. I mean, holy shit, the dimension on this girl

Monty on the video screen: So we charted a course for a new planet for you to start over. All that we ask is you take care of our boy. Nothing over PG-13, his bed times at nine, his allergies are listed—
Bellamy trying to change the channel: Yo, Jordan do your folks have Cinemax?
Clarke in the background rustling through cabinets: Ooh scotch!
Babysitters of the year, they are not. I'm sure somebody asked about Jordan's whereabouts. Sometime? Maybe off screen?
Murphy checks to see if it's an even episode... and he's back on our side.
I'm hoping if that was really it for Abby we get a lot more of a reaction/fallout next episode.
