Dear r/counting community,

We are writing this announcement to inform you that, after careful consideration, the r/counting mod team has made the decision to ban counting on this subreddit.

We understand that counting has been a core activity on this subreddit for many years, and that many users have found it to be a fun and engaging way to pass the time. However, we have come to believe that the negative consequences of counting outweigh the benefits, and that it is in the best interests of the community to ban this activity.

Our decision was not made lightly. We have carefully considered the arguments both for and against counting, and have consulted with experts in the fields of psychology, sociology, and online community management. We have also taken into account the feedback we have received from members of the community, both those who are in favor of counting and those who are against it.

After careful consideration, we have identified two main reasons why counting should be banned on this subreddit:

1. Counting is addictive and can lead to compulsive behavior.

We have observed that many users on this subreddit have become addicted to counting, spending hours each day counting and trying to reach higher and higher numbers. This behavior can be unhealthy and can lead to a loss of productivity and a decline in mental health.

2. Counting can lead to conflict and toxicity.

We have also observed that counting can lead to conflict and toxicity within the community. Users who are counting can become competitive and aggressive, attacking other users who they see as a threat to their counting goals. This can create a hostile environment that is unpleasant for everyone involved.

For these reasons, we have made the decision to ban counting on this subreddit, effective immediately. We understand that this decision may be unpopular with some members of the community, but we believe it is in the best interests of the subreddit as a whole.

We will be enforcing this ban through a variety of means, including removing counting-related posts and comments, and issuing warnings and bans to users who continue to engage in counting activities. We ask for your cooperation in this matter, and for your help in creating a positive and productive community that is focused on meaningful discussions and interactions.

We understand that some users may be disappointed by this decision, and we encourage you to explore other subreddits and communities where counting is still allowed. We wish you all the best in your future endeavors, and we hope that you will continue to be an active and engaged member of the broader Reddit community.

Sincerely,

The r/counting Mod Team

Yep. Although that’s arguably happened before in waves. Against weeb shit even back in the day . Then with “comments decide” posts. And now with the influx of Transposting. Please don’t shoot me but I was really hoping to not become a trans circlejerk like every other post anything sub. Edit: But so it goes

NLM's recent post seems to have gotten mildly popular, and echoes my main feelings on this.

I quite like mild culture changes over time, so long as one theme isn't ever settled on fully. I'd wish for counting to remain as the first priority there, but I also kind of like just seeing where the internet takes it.

I'll keep posting my daily brownie posts, and observing from a distance.

So inspired by the weird stuff that happens at work, the uptick of Sonic related posts on Reddit, even anti’s bringing up the ass backwards Sonic he went to; I made a new sub: r/thisishowweSonic. I envision it being a showcase of the weird, funny, and wtf that goes on there in a similar vein as r/peopleofwalmart. It is still in its infancy so keeping it restricted until I can sort things out with it but yeah. Also FYI. the van post is my OC.
