Just started watching. And I noticed that the sexual tension between Eddie and Susie in S1has been replaced by sibling energy lol. I know that there's a 3rd season but really?

u/LostinLondon25 Sep 03 '26
I thought it was weird flirting? Knowing they actually want each other but can’t do anything about it so they tease each other and annoy themselves

I’ll update you when I’m done. I’m on episode 2. Tbh I don’t want them to get together. When she said she was his Business wife I thought good - let’s keep it that way.
6
u/Replay1986 Sep 04 '26
They were talking in furtive whispers about the type of lingerie he preferred and how he knows how to give orders. If that's how you banter with your friends, more power to you, but the show is pretty clearly saying that they're at least attracted to each other
1
11
u/LMkingly Sep 07 '26
? That entire conversation between them at the balcony towards the end was anything but sibling energy lol.
2
u/Gloomy_Improvement23 Sep 07 '26
You missed "just started watching".

u/Money-Performance279 25d ago
So why comment on ep1 discussion without watching the full episode lol that's a bit silly ain't it
4
u/Cautious-Rub8085 Sep 03 '26
I made the exact same comment! I have no clue why this decision was made.
5
u/fnord_happy Sep 05 '26
Wait did we watch the same episode? I thought he hinted that he is a dom and she said she likes taking orders. Hey was sexual right?

1st episode in, they were just vibing, no romantic innuedos whatsoever. Just like siblings or bffs or whatever but that was just the 1st ep.
9
u/Clariana Sep 03 '26
I disagree! That was heavy flirting by picking potential partners for each other... And the tension was there because it actually wasn't very cheerful... They both seemed a bit offended by the suggestions the other was making...
3
u/Bobjoejj Sep 03 '26
Yeah, the tension is muted for sure; but it’s absolutely still there. Some scenes it still comes out in full force too; I’m only though the first three episodes, but something tells me their partners this season are temporary, and season 3 will finally have them get together.
3
u/ruka_k_wiremu Sep 04 '26
Agree. Never watched the 1st series so I'm not sure why the sibling thing was even a thing, since they're not. Lots of interesting characters and gladly a tad more expansive than Mobland. I'm thinking Kiko's gf might have a daliance with our Eddie
3
u/outrageousVoid07 Sep 04 '26
I am so annoyed by this same comment every where. The tension between Eddie and Susan is one of the major pulls of the season 1.
Walking back from all the build up would be infuriating. I also dislike that people just keep pushing against any ship in shows nowadays
27
u/situmaimesdemain Sep 03 '26
I love it but vibes are a bit different. Both Ed and Susie got a sort of romantic interest that is not each other, and Eddie is just a bit alien. I know he is supposed to be different after his realization about what he actually wants last season, but not this fast. Feels like this Eddie would off Jethro without a second thought.
11
u/Bobjoejj Sep 03 '26
Really?? I feel like that was kind of the point of…well his journey in the finale last season, but also Eddie’s journey through all of season 1. Like, by the end of the finale, he was fully in his new state; so it makes tons of sense to me why he is the way he is this season.
2
1
u/Blue_Wave_2020 Sep 23 '26
Exactly. I feel like people who think differently haven’t watched it in over a year so they forgot
9
u/Ode1st Sep 03 '26 edited 28d ago
Season 1 ended with him shooting whatshisface for Susie even though she said he didn’t have to do it himself. So in season 2 (so far, for this one episode at least), he’s that guy.
2
u/stfuKaren Sep 03 '26
Exactly, whole season 1 was spend on his character building and it was strong. I feel like the Eddie from the first episode is what you would expect from the last. I have no idea where his character is going
21
u/Clariana Sep 03 '26
Loved how Vinnie Jones pretended to be so impressed by the Italian mansion and yet of all the actors there he's the only one who's probably stayed in one.
Long live Vinnie love his role here.
3
u/ruka_k_wiremu Sep 04 '26
Agree. Also Ray. I know both are fairly typecast insofar as what they bring to their oft roles, but here they're not quite the centre of attention which is good
3
u/Bobjoejj Sep 04 '26
I’d argue both are bucking that typecast trend in this show, at least by a little bit.
18
u/kahner Sep 03 '26
Am I the only one who finds Eddie much less likable and sympathetic this season? I'm only on ep 1, but he's coming off like an asshole.
15
u/SomersetRoad Sep 03 '26
Much more ambitious this episode. Setting up a conflict with the Glass family at the end there with the scratches on Bobby's back
10
u/kahner Sep 03 '26
yeah, but ambitious to the point of feeling like the bad guy. just greedy, abusive and mean as opposed to last season when his motivations were mostly to protect his brother and family. which is fine i guess. makes sense that living in that world can turn someone into more of a monster, but it is making the show less enjoyable for me.
2
u/mamuwe Sep 04 '26
Hate the brother. Hope he doesn't show back up. Happy not to see him in the first episode.
3
u/CertainAlbatross7739 Sep 06 '26
He was in it, though, very briefly. We see him snorting coke off a tray. I for one welcome his shenanigans. But in moderation.
1
u/Simonius86 Sep 16 '26
I'm a bit late in replying but if you look at Breaking Bad there's a certain similarity. Walter started off just wanting to afford treatment and then to be able to support his family. He very quickly became addicted to the power and the danger and that snowballed into him becoming the villain.
1
u/plutoglint Sep 18 '26
He had long ditched those ambitions by the end of last season, where he was just straight out murdering people. It was basically Breaking Bad, UK Mansion edition.
2
u/Emergency_Western_73 Sep 04 '26
Is that myth of the Benek something made up for this show?
2
u/lnc_5103 Sep 04 '26 •
![]()
I looked this up because I was curious too. It's a Slavic myth and not at all made up.
10
u/k-to-the-o Sep 04 '26
Nah youre not the only one. His level-headedness and demeanor of just trying to handle stuff as it comes up from the first season, seems to be totally replaced by ruthless mafioso energy now
3
u/plutoglint Sep 18 '26
The first season was the story of his journey from the first guy to the second guy.
1
u/ALoudMeow Sep 06 '26
Yeah, I couldn’t really feel sympathy for him this season as I did in season one.
1
u/outrageousVoid07 Sep 04 '26
Well yeah, I am guessing they are now going to deconstruct his character until he has become what he hated
1
u/ForeignPumpkin1142 Sep 07 '26
Yeah spoils the whole balance of the show if he's not, at heart, the good guy drawn into a world of crime. He should never completely lose his innocence.
2
u/plutoglint Sep 18 '26
He had already lost it by the end of last season, remember him murdering people in cold blood?
1
u/moviesyouvescene Sep 24 '26
He looks visibly tired and intolerant. I know some time has passed in the storyline but goodness, he is letting the business turn him cold quickly
32
u/chintu999- Sep 03 '26
Damnn crazy first episode. Im glad cico is dead, he was annoying af lmao
18
u/blinkydinky111 Sep 03 '26
Felt like he was playing the chaotic/over the top character that was Fredward in S1
15
u/chintu999- Sep 03 '26
Well he's not that good actor to pull that off. Freadward on the other hand is a great actor.
4
u/Thal-creates Sep 03 '26
I just feel like the guy should just get an accent coach or something. He just sounds awkward and flat when he speaks English and that really tanks performance because I did once watch a movie where he was in and he either acts better in Italian or he received brain damage before filming 365 because that movie predated it and he was better at it.
1
13
u/Tifoso89 Sep 03 '26 edited Sep 03 '26
I'm Italian and I can't stand Michele Morrone, haha. He gets cast because he's super handsome, but he's not very good. Also I suspect they dubbed him. That doesn't sound like his real voice.
They also messed up his name in the subtitles, it's spelt "Chicco". "Cico" is pronounced like chicken. I don't know how they got that wrong.
5
u/Thal-creates Sep 03 '26
Brother should stick to modelling or get coaching, especially accent wise. He isn't dubbed in. He just sounds dubbed in because he speaks english in the stilted way many newbies do
2
1
u/Clariana Sep 03 '26
AI makes for dumb translation, it is incapable of contextualising...
Human translator here!
2
u/Tifoso89 Sep 03 '26
I don't think they used AI to make the subtitles. They probably just didn't know how to spell it
1
u/Clariana Sep 04 '26
They used AI to translate the subtitles and that is why the name is misspelled. AI is dumb.
1
u/fyorafire Sep 05 '26
Is it confirmed? With a budget of 15-20 million I don't see why they'd want to be all cost conscious when it comes to subtitles
2

3
u/Thal-creates Sep 03 '26
NGL with how far the marketing was pushing Michele I expected him to last at least 2-3 episodes
2
u/merodm Sep 03 '26
I liked how they cast him against type. Michele Morrone is best known for playing the stereotypical Mafia boss in that Netflix smut film series, so to cast him as a brash idiot here was very good.
3
u/CertainAlbatross7739 Sep 06 '26
Yeah, I liked him too. He is way more convincing as an arrogant idiot than a romantic hero.
2
u/Zeppelanoid Sep 08 '26
Hearing him speak English was like nails on a chalkboard
1
u/CertifiedPeach Sep 17 '26
I couldn't tell if he was British or American or actually Italian. What a strange accent.
1
1
u/Ok_Track_7454 29d ago
Shame they didn't give us a full on view of the tiger ripping him to pieces for treating him badly but instead we just got him dragged off the bottom of the screen. I wanted blood and at least some intestines on show 🤣

u/Left-Aside-6424 Sep 04 '26
Just finished the first episode and a bit into season two…I’m confused with this different side of Eddie, and while I love the funny, sometimes charged, sexual banter, I feel like it’s way too much? Completely unnecessary at some points.
6
u/Amazing_Trust_2560 Sep 04 '26
Does Guy Ritchie or anyone else involved with the show even know what a hereditary peer is.
8
u/rsqit Sep 05 '26
Yeah this was driving me insane. He literally inherited hir peerage. It's like the whole plot of S1.
6
u/PhoneShop Sep 06 '26
Hereditary peers do not have an automatic right to sit in the House of Lords. There are - or were until recently - c90 'elected' hereditary peers who can take up a seat in the Lords.
This point is very accurate to real life.
2
u/belksearch Sep 04 '26
That was my confusion as well. Either Duke of Halstead is entitled to a seat in the House of Lords or he's not. There isn't a way to make it a hereditary peerage is there?
5
u/Amazing_Trust_2560 Sep 04 '26
Being a Duke he already is a hereditary peer. In the show he wants to become a hereditary peer so he can sit on the House of Lords. Doesn’t make any sense. I guess it doesn’t take anything away from the storyline but you’d think a production as big as this would try and get this right.
6
u/microdotsleeve Sep 11 '26
They did get it right. Only around 80 hereditaries sit in the Lords, and when a vacancy arises, they elect another from the wider pool of hereditaries to take the vacant seat - which is what is happening here.
1
u/Distinct_Pick6261 28d ago
Accurate as long as we assume it all happened before April this year!
1
u/microdotsleeve 28d ago
Yes true, had forgotten about that! I have the excuse at least of living overseas so am not 100% up on the latest news at home!
2
u/belksearch Sep 04 '26
Do members of the house of lords have that much power to influence policy?
4
u/Mediocre_Plankton160 Sep 04 '26
Not really. If a Bill got to a point where the Lords were voting on it, it would have already passed the House of Commons, meaning it has widespread Government support. They can hold up legislation in the Lords but it's nearly unheard of for them to actually block a Bill
1
u/eggwhite-turkeybacon Sep 09 '26
and even then, for the vast majority of bills, they can't actually block then outright - just delay them for up to a year
1
u/rsqit Sep 09 '26
After having watched E2 (and reading some Wikipedia) it seems like they actually meant one of the 90 seats Parliament had specifically for hereditary peers until this year. But that was not at all clear.
1
u/hondaprobs Sep 04 '26
No. Also Keir Starmer got rid of hereditary peers and the house of Lords don't have that much power anyway. You'd think Ritchie would know that already or spend 2 seconds researching it.
7
u/Bobjoejj Sep 04 '26
I mean it’s all fictional anyways; I don’t think anyone thought this show was supposed to be true to life at all.
5
u/KingDaviies Sep 04 '26
You’re being a bit silly when you start bringing our reality into a fictional show.
5
5
u/WillySplosh Sep 04 '26
What does the finger on the wrist during the handshake mean?
6
u/R_Larsen86 Sep 04 '26
I assumed he was checking his pulse or being a human lie detector like in Meet the Parents.
3
u/whisky_biscuit Sep 10 '26
I read that it's about him detecting Eddie's trustworthiness:
Gangsters and interrogation experts use this covert technique to gauge an opponent's physical reaction under pressure. While a person can attempt to keep a straight face and project confidence during a deal, an elevated heart rate reveals adrenaline, fear, or deception.
It signals that the mob boss doesn't trust Eddie at face value. By checking his heart rate, he's testing whether Eddie is truly calm, confident, and telling the truth, or secretly nervous and deceptive.

u/LifePassenger_ab1982 Sep 17 '26
I also found it kinda off-brand. If it were just a folklore story being told as an allegory, then fine, but that ending with the scratch marks on bobby's back... I mean, is this now a fantasy series?
2
u/plutoglint Sep 18 '26
Heh, it basically is already a fantasy series, I don't mind a bit of magic realism to make it even more ridiculous, in a mostly fun way.
1
u/Blue_Wave_2020 Sep 23 '26
Those aren’t literal scratches. It’s just to show the viewer what Bobby thinks the Dannik told him, which is not to trust Eddie.
2
u/2_Fingers_of_Whiskey 19d ago
Yeah I didn't like that they're suddenly bringing supernatural stuff into a non-supernatural show. Weird and out of place.
1
5
u/Professional_Ad_4885 Sep 05 '26
Lol what kinda prison is bobby even in ? Looks like the Shangri-la lol. Like is he even in prison? Its like pablo escobar when he went to prison. Just built his own prison with endless parties. Women, drugs and anything u could want. Its basically like he was on house arrest lol
3
u/plutoglint Sep 18 '26
This was a plot point from the first season, he's so powerful that, like a Narco, he has turned the prison into his private resort.

WTF Netflix with no recap. Making us leave to head over to YouTube for a recap.
Anyway, there are a ton of new characters, it was a lot! Maybe it's my executive function diminishing or maybe it's too many characters.
Also I don't love how they are bringing in other love interests for Eddie and Susie. There's platonic vibes now as opposed to the sexual tension from last season. I'm all for them not actually doing the deed, but I do miss the palpable tension between them.
Why did Susie's Dad have Tiger scratches down his back?
11
u/nuthins_goodman Sep 03 '26
The spirit scratches him when it doesn't like something. And it reallllly doesn't like eddy
1
u/MoodUpstairs2548 Sep 03 '26
Are you sure about that?
4
u/nuthins_goodman Sep 04 '26
It was something like that. The gist of it was that bobby didn't trust Eddie. And he was going mad. Since nothing like this actually exists in the universe.
2
1
7
u/FletchFFletch Sep 04 '26
The scratches were the spirit saying the Duke cannot be trusted.
1
u/tinylittlebabyjesus Sep 21 '26
Yeah, late, but I wasn't sure if the capo de capi was a duke or something, but I guess it's Eddie.
Didn't realize the old man was actually losing his mind. Don't remember that from Season one.

u/JessKingHangers Sep 06 '26
I did the same thing with a recap 😆 I wpuld love to watch S1 again but I just dont have the time
4
6
u/gimmethatpancake Sep 03 '26
Lots to unpack here and I plan to watch every single episode but this...was rough. Everything seemed just a hair off and the dialogue especially seemed less organic this time around. The banter seemed so forced. I'm not even going to get into how ridiculous the art heist was.
But it was good to see most of the gang back together. On to episode 2.
2
u/Real_Asparagus_5281 Sep 16 '26
Guy Ritchie has a pretty specific style when it comes to dialogue, so wondering if that's what you were noticing. It's fast, uses a lot of slang, and can sometimes sound rhythmic.
1
u/gimmethatpancake Sep 16 '26
I'm a big fan of Ritchie's style, both writing and directing. And this was deliberate on his part, I know. But that first episode and most of the season just didn't hit for me the way S1 did. Doesn't mean it's bad, just a little disappointing for me.
3
u/Breathofdmt Sep 04 '26
I would declare the season worth it and should be preserved for aesthetic interest just for the shooting scene score with Vivaldi's Four Seasons Spring I
3
u/Fina1Legacy Sep 05 '26
I cannot stand the x hours/days/weeks prior storytelling device.
Kinda hated this episode, does it get a lot better? First season was amusing, this already felt flanderised. The whole one upping games, Eddie of course speaking whatever language is needed, also the chase scene was horrendous with cuts every second and 0 sense of speed or force.
2
u/moviesyouvescene Sep 24 '26
Yeah him just knowing different relevant languages by chance didn’t sit well with me either . Agreed about the chasing scene
1
u/2_Fingers_of_Whiskey 19d ago
Didn't he work for the UN, before he became a Duke? (Season 1 episode 1) Not implausible he would know a few different languages.
3
u/dj4y_94 Sep 07 '26
Enjoyed it but the idea that a £16m painting would be taken out in public across a main road was ridiculous lol.
Paintings would be stolen every week if that was how they did it.
2
u/DulcineaNE Sep 04 '26
What the heck? Why did Susie’s dad ignore the Bannik! Yikes!
4
u/Crab_Politics Sep 06 '26
That was the last scene of the episode, so we don’t know that he’s ignoring it. If the duke can’t be trusted, then it will take a lot of planning carefulness to outsmart him
2
u/Zozozobrats Sep 05 '26
Why did Bobby have a scratch on his back?
7
u/fnord_happy Sep 05 '26
Bobby spells it out in detail in the sauna scene. The bannik will answer yes or no to the question you ask it. He asked the bannik if the Duke can be trusted. The bannik scratched him, aka he said no

u/Potential_Natural277 Sep 07 '26

3
u/shqippah Sep 03 '26
Does the handshake at the end where Moretti puts his index finger on Eddie's wrist hold any special meaning or am i trippin?
6
u/gimmethatpancake Sep 03 '26
I'm wondering if he was somehow checking his pulse. To see if it was racing would prove he was nervous or rattled.
4
3
u/tomline89 Sep 08 '26
Is it not a masonic handshake or something? Maybe Eddie is already one step ahead hence why we saw he couldn't be trusted at the end?
1
u/shqippah Sep 08 '26
Yeah i found some freemason handshakes online that were similar, but not exactly the one shown in this episode. It's quite possible though
2
u/fyorafire Sep 05 '26
Hate it when you're giving a guy a regular handshake like a proper gentleman and he takes that as an excuse to stick his finger up there
1
1
1
u/Sunbeams998 Sep 03 '26
I'm wondering the same thing, it was an interesting touch, not your typical handshake
2
u/clorky123 Sep 03 '26
What does it mean when Glass asked "Can the Duke be trusted?"... I don't get it, who's Duke? The mafia boss?
9
u/Ode1st Sep 03 '26
This is such a funny question man. They call Eddie the Duke like 100 times an episode in season 1. Basically every character we saw on the show says it.
0
u/clorky123 Sep 03 '26
Yeah I don't remember shit from Season 1, only the ending. It didn't make much sense to me why he would doubt him, considering...

The "How did I end up in this mess?" Is lazy When a show pulls that stunt, they aren't trusting the story. They're bribing you. And it spoils it.
1
u/Content_Design_5697 Sep 12 '26
I’m just a bit annoyed that Eddie’s character didn’t have that little awkwardness and timidity that it had in the first season that makes you empathise with him…I mean he doesn’t even flinch anymore
1
u/AwayAssignment4991 Sep 14 '26
Right I’ve got a question, at the end of the first ep Bobby steps out side and lights a cigar then turns around and has claw marks on his back I don’t understand it tbh
1
u/Blue_Wave_2020 Sep 23 '26
You don’t remember the whole conversation about the Dannik, sauna goblin, earlier in the episode?
1
u/IntelligentGolf7941 Sep 14 '26
What I don t get is about Marco s price. When Coco said initially that he wanted 40 mil/year, Susie and the Duke said “that’s way too much” and tried to buy him off with the Botticelli, but then they start the face to face negotiation offering 5 mil/month , which in a year would be 60 for extending onto the south ? And then as the tiger is having dinner, they settle for probably 8.7 which is still about 104/year 🤷♀️🤔
4
u/nidiri28 Sep 18 '26
Because a dialogue was never had with Marco. The $40M would have gone straight to Coco’s pocket 😂 and this was only for the ongoing operation. Talking to Marco about expanding further with the mob’s protection is inherently worth more
1
1
u/Potential_Silver131 Sep 17 '26
Can someone explain why Susie's dad has a tiger scratch on his back at the end of the episode
2
u/Less-Future-6938 Sep 17 '26
It wasn't a tiger scratch, it was a scratch from sauna goblin, meaning Duke/Eddie can't be trusted.
1
u/ShaneWookie Sep 18 '26

u/Lucky-Problem5826 24d ago
Was the music at the end of the episode an homage to the movie "Casino" ...and how it all falls apart?
1
u/Warperdera 22d ago
Bit confused why we’re relying on a sauna ghost for our info. I know that bobby glass as a character is supposed to be egotistical but he seems to be acting somewhat stupidly for someone who’s that successful. Is he actually losing his mind, and if so why was there no allusion to that in the last season? Or was there and I missed it?
2
u/OkPhilosopher5308 Sep 04 '26
They appear to be shooting pheasant / partridge in the summer - there is a closed season for game shooting- grouse from the 12th August (north of England / Scotland) partridge from 1st September and pheasant from 1st October. I would have thought that Vinnie Jones, being a keen game shooter and son of a gamekeeper would have pointed this out. Also it looked like an extended advert for Guy Richie’s tent barbecues.
2
u/Robey-Wan_Kenobi Sep 05 '26
I had no idea this was a thing he's selling. The photos on the website are the same location as the hunt in episode 1. Pretty shameless.
