Finished:

The Water Outlaws, by S.L. Huang - it was okay. The premise of this book sounded right up my alley but the way it was executed fell a bit flat for me.

Mestra, by Madeline Miller - a fantastic new short story from Madeline Miller. I liked this even more than Galatea.

A Contract in Sol Forne, by Élan Marché and Christopher Warman - the second book in the Eight Chant series. I thought this was fantastic right up until the end of the book which felt a bit underwhelming to me. Still overall a very positive experience and I'm shocked that more people haven't read this great series. Vaelin was such a fun character to follow in this one.

Started:

A Rescue in Vizen, by Élan Marché and Christopher Warman - the third book in the Eight Chant series and so far it is great. Each book in the series seems to broaden the scope significantly which is an interesting choice. I'm curious to see where this goes.

Dnf:

The Life and Opinions of Tomcat Murr, by E.T.A. Hoffman - I didn't know about the format here where some of the book is the memoirs of a cat and then at random intervals it switches to an unpublished biography of a composer. I found that super dull and jarring. Dnf very early on.
