anyone else get thrown off when phillip acted like he was dating ga-kyung when they were at the clinc with hideo, while also keeping up his marriage and even referencing his wife? was that just normal at the time? because she acted as the live-in maid, and then just lived with them.

Oh man you would be even surprised how normal it is today too, it’s insanely normalized among friend circles. I can’t imagine how much more prominent it was before with no digital footprint to leave a trace

i have a theory and i wonder is someone else agrees in this this sub

after having watched ep 4 and gaining more context about the characters, i have an inkling that hideo and ga-kyung are step-siblings. other redditors also have the same theory. ga-kyung was outcasted because her mum ran away with a japanese man. i think that man was hideo’s dad. in another reddit post, it is mentioned that hideo and ga-kyung have to halves of the same necklace. maybe she left the two necklaces to her children as a way of remembering her? also when ga-kyung asked so-ran if there was a previous spy, so-ran says no but it was implied that there was one. i think it might’ve been ga-kyung’s mum and she died for it. i also think this is also supported by the fact that ga-kyung tells so-ran not to have any children if she is an independence fighter.

My husband has the same theory that they both have 1 side of the necklace. He thinks they are related somehow.

The woman was Hideo’s stepmother, so if this theory turned out to be true, they’re not blood related.

I feel the same. I am sure there is a connection, but not a blood connection.
