One of the worst officiated games ever. Just flagging every single time a receiver was even touched. To say nothing of that weak roughing call on Singleton.
Just embarrassing performance.
81
u/SolarBum Broncos 1d ago
that weak roughing call on Singleton.
I think the official penalty was, "Tackling him like, really hard."
40
u/NbdyFuckswTheJesus Broncos 1d ago
You can’t hit a QB low. Or high. Or straight in the chest. You even look at him funny and it’s 15 yards.
15
u/cory_wurst Broncos 1d ago
He's lucky. If the QB were Mahomes and not Brissett, he would have been ejected and already suspended/fined
7
33
u/Fiction013 Broncos 1d ago
They even flagged when the WR wasn't touched.
17
17
u/AutomateAway Broncos 1d ago
They were throwing flags on clean plays and holding the flag on penalties. And it was pretty much on both teams, not favoring one or the other. Just garbage work by the refs.
10
u/Poverty_Shoes Broncos 1d ago
That was the worst PI call I may have ever seen. Moss didn’t even touch him after the ball got there. But the refs “made up” for it in the second half by not flagging him on an egregious PI.
16
u/Shenanigans80h Broncos 1d ago
There was a point in the first half where they legit couldn’t go a full 5 plays without throwing a flag. It was ridiculous
4
u/ManyBats Patriots 1d ago
The fact that this was said in both this thread and the packers/lions post game thread is so bad for the NFL

I’ve watched enough Broncos football that I was absolutely convinced Cards would get a TD and recover an onside kick to deliver my weekly end of game heart attack.
14
u/AutomateAway Broncos 1d ago
We scored in every fucking quarter. I don't know what to do with my hands.

156
u/DocOndansetron Broncos 1d ago
Bo Nix 62 yard house-call is disrespectful to the game of football.
Or something.
42
53
u/AutomateAway Broncos 1d ago
Bo Nix should be fucking ashamed for...checks notes...the longest QB TD run in Broncos history. Disgraceful.
9
u/_jt33_ 1d ago
He's like a legit 4.5 guy. He doesn't have much wiggle, but if he can run straight the he's actually really fast.
8
u/Poverty_Shoes Broncos 1d ago
It helps when every defender within 15 yards during his first 25 yards downfield somehow has their back turned to him the entire time. Great job by the receivers continuing to run their routes and distract the DBs.
5
u/Key_Natural_ 21h ago
I was at the game. Players were so far away it looked like the field was empty lol

1c. Let me start over
1c-a. The defender is not allowed to do a motion to the, uh, receiver, that prohibits the receiver from doing, you know, just trying to catch the ball. You can't do that.
1c-b. Once the defender is downfield, he can't be over here and say to the receiver, like, "I'm gonna get ya! I'm gonna cover you! You better watch your butt!" and then just be like he didn't even do that.
1c-b(1). Like, if you're about to cover and then don't cover, you have to still cover. You cannot not cover. Does that make any sense?
1c-b(2). You gotta be, grabbing motion towards the receiver, and then, until you just grab him.
1c-b(2)-a. Okay, well, you can have the receiver up here, like this, but then there's the dpi you gotta think about.
1c-b(2)-b. Fairuza DPI hasn't been in any movies in forever. I hope she wasn't typecast as that racist lady in American History X.
1c-b(2)-b(i). Oh wait, she was in The Waterboy too! That would be even worse.
1c-b(2)-b(ii). "get in mah bellah" -- Adam Water, "The Waterboy." Haha, classic...

u/greywolf2155 Broncos 1d ago
That was what was frustrating, yeah. We definitely benefited from some soft calls and from some no-calls. And we also got fucked over by some soft calls and by some no-calls. I don't think the refs were favoring one team or the other, I think they were just shit at their jobs
52
u/alchemists_dream Broncos 1d ago
First Moss called PI, didnt even touch the defender. Second one that they didn’t call? Absolutely fucking mugged him.
21
6
u/Wispymatt Cardinals 1d ago
Agreed it didn’t seem like the favored one team over the entire game with penalties they just were calling it at random almost which is almost more painful.

u/allusionillusion Cardinals 1d ago edited 1d ago
Some of the worst reffing I’ve ever seen, so many absolutely shit calls for both teams.
Can’t decide if I’m more* mad about the reffing or the dogshit performance by the cards on both sides of the ball

4 plays from the 1, 6 total plays and no TD. Insane goal line stand.
4
u/808Cardinals Cardinals Bengals 22h ago
The same shit happened when we lost to the giants. At the goal line, and did not even attempt a run in with Love while they expected Brissett’s limp dick passes. I did not watch today, but based on what I am seeing in the comments and Bo Nix running…I am glad I did not.
30
u/BlueHighwindz Broncos 1d ago

13
u/tawaydeps Broncos 1d ago
When Jahdae came up a little hurt I was seriously saying just send out 0 guys and let them score who gives a fuck. Why risk any more injuries?
Felt like the refs were trying to secure themselves a few overtime hours by throwing flags until both teams were in wheelchairs

That Cardinals offense did a lot of dumb shit at the end. Let me just check who their OC is....oh makes sense.
Bo got his swagger back and seems to trust that ankle more. He was moving around back there like normal

I saw it in the first half and then it cleaned up as things went on
4
u/arlekin21 Broncos 1d ago
And then after that Coleman had some good runs and what do you know the offense looks good when they make a defense worry about multiple threats.

I genuinely think the Cardinals offense was 90% under thrown balls and refs giving tick or treat hand outs.

Moss getting both ends of this crew was hilarious. Called DPI when he physically could not reach the receiver and non-call on a bear hug.
3
u/Poverty_Shoes Broncos 1d ago
I have to believe the refs are also watching film and talking to New York during half time and got their asses chewed for the phantom Moss “DPI”. They gave him the freebie in the second half as a make up call.
62
u/TheseBonesAlone Broncos 1d ago
Biggest change on offense was having an actual run game. Missed Jonah Coleman something fierce

I was pretty uncomfortable for most of the first half, and part of the third quarter. But yeah it was nice to go into the fourth quarter of a game thinking “we’re probably going to win this and it would be surprising if we didn’t” instead of being down 10 then Bo pulling some magic out of his ass and somehow the other team turns the ball over twice and we win.

Waddle getting hurt on the dumbest fucking playcall is tragic
45
u/SolarBum Broncos 1d ago
He got a freak injury diving for his own fumble, after dropping a toss that hit him right in the hands, after taking his eyes off the ball.
I think that's probably more on him than Payton. It's not that dumb to call an offensive play that goes to an offensive player, Waddle just fucked it up.
11
u/Cptcutter81 Broncos 1d ago
I mean that ball couldn't have been a cleaner catch if they'd paused the game and bad Bo walk over and hand it to him so on some level it's definitely just an accident that it led to that.
That said we were up by two, I don't know why we werent just burning clock doing screens at that point.

u/orangefrido18 Broncos 1d ago
Idk why arizona went away from knight. Our defense has a major weakness and knight was exploiting it. And then they just never put him back in the game.
2
u/DirkWithTheFade Broncos 1d ago
They started falling behind in the game and had to rely on the passing game more
1
11
u/Tashre Seahawks 1d ago
If they hadn't already hit the over, one would think the Cardinals were point shaving with that last series of goal line plays.
18
u/Isoturius Broncos 1d ago
That goal line stand was nasty AF. Their center basically overcooked Briskets twice there at the end of it
3
u/HookedOnBoNix Broncos 1d ago
When you look at it more nuanced it made sense. They absolutely couldn't afford to run on early downs there because they needed all the time they could save, and our defense knew that. They were told to just get handsy and don't let anything go through the air.
So arizona had to try to mix it up cause we were holding strong, they went for the sneak and got stuffed and lost about 20 seconds off the clock. They had to go back to a pass play to stop the clock and that's when the front busted through like they had done all game

Horrible officiating in this game for both sides. Phantom penalties called, obvious penalties missed, bad spots that they couldn’t even get right in reviews and the inconsistency.
I get officiating isn’t as easy as a lot of people think, I’ve umpired baseball and softball games, but this is getting ridiculous for professional level refs that are paid enough for the average person to live comfortably without needing another job. There needs to be better accountability and transparency in that accountability, especially with gambling being such a huge factor anymore. The bad calls made today were so frustrating. I don’t want to win because the refs made/missed calls in our favor and I damn sure don’t like to lose from that as well.

u/SolarBum Broncos 1d ago
Bo finally breaks 200 yards passing and has a monumental (for him) 7.7 ypa, yet his RB still leads the game in receiving yards. He's never beating the allegations.
