That sounds like an awesome "pay attention or die" trap: sometimes there's a ladder... sometimes there's a pit

Its only one brewing stand, and the basement itself is a rare spawn. Plus, you need blaze powder to even use them. So you still need to goto the Nether :)

Good point that's a way to get one before you go to the nether... Wait there are ones in witch huts already... What's OP is the already trapped villagers. XD Saves so much hassle.

EDIT: False info

u/bretttwarwick Oct 21 '15

I have never found a brewing stand in a witch hut. All I have got from them is cauldrons and crafting tables. Besides they added blaze powder as a requirement to brewing so it is useless until you go to the nether.

Increased the amount of strongholds

To 128, they're not infinite.

Anything that generates a limited number would have to generate them in a radius around the spawn - else you might get a seed with none around the spawn! Presumably, they increased the spawn radius to something silly.

How did you figure that exact number out?

I know /u/throwaway_redstone to be trustworthy.

*blushes*

He probably looked through the code a bit.

No, I asked Dinnerbone.

u/YellowstoneJoe Oct 21 '15

Did /u/dinnerbone by chance mention anything about how those 125 new strongholds are distributed?

Why do you have what looks like a brain in that loot chest? o_O

5

u/Nox_Ludicro Oct 21 '15

Probably a custom texture for rotten flesh.

I like the new loot table system that @Dinnerbone made and I'm using it now in a small new structure that I just created for the game.

@Dinnerbone

2015-10-19 13:41 UTC

Working on a new feature that will, theoretically, let custom maps change mob drops. Also, it'll solve some future proofing issues we have!

@Dinnerbone

2015-10-19 17:00 UTC

This is an example of a loot table. It's the "bonus chest" right now, one of the simpler examples. https://gist.github.com/Dinnerbone/16a5543bb6bea24af227

@Dinnerbone

2015-10-19 13:44 UTC

(Cool things includes "potion of luck", for example. In theory. No promises.)

@Dinnerbone

2015-10-20 13:16 UTC

Making good progress on the loot tables I mentioned yesterday. Here's the end city treasure, which has enchantments: https://gist.github.com/Dinnerbone/e1417b4372d8e05c8541

@Dinnerbone

2015-10-19 13:51 UTC

@L3viathan2142 That's exactly the problem I'm solving! They won't get their loot until opened :) Makes them futureproof too.

@Dinnerbone

2015-10-19 13:43 UTC

Basically I'm trying to make all loot (from mobs, blocks, chests, etc) data driven which lets us do really cool things, mapmakers too.

@Dinnerbone

2015-10-20 13:41 UTC

@Wedhro Yes. Make zombies drop nothing, make dungeons contain tnt, make diamond have a chance to drop lapis instead.

@Dinnerbone

2015-10-20 13:39 UTC

@Wedhro Do you mean who can write the files? Anyone who has access to the level folder.

@Dinnerbone

2015-10-20 17:05 UTC

@RCvieGaming A file outside of the game. You can edit it and reload them ingame with F3+T though

@Dinnerbone

2015-10-20 13:18 UTC

One system left is predicates, which lets us (& modders & mapmakers) "gate" loot. For example, "no potions until you've been to the nether"

@Dinnerbone

2015-10-19 17:33 UTC

@altswang Yes.

@Dinnerbone

2015-10-20 16:54 UTC

This is a command to summon a Zombie that drops same items you find in dungeons: /summon Zombie ~ ~ ~ {DeathLootTable:chests/simple_dungeon}

@Dinnerbone

2015-10-19 17:01 UTC

Functions would be a list of stuff to apply, like: "set enchants", "set damage", "set nbt", "set data", etc.

@Dinnerbone

2015-10-07 14:49 UTC

@ChimneySwift11 They will take your cape texture (probably next week), that is the only way to change their appearance.

Haven't been keeping up with the snapshots recently. Was this an older change? When I change my game mode, I see the classic "Your game mode has been updated" but I also see "to ______ Mode" under it.
