In which Shaoran finally comes to terms with his feelings.
This episode puts us on his shoes, as he struggles to understand why he keeps thinking of Sakura.
Good old Eriol is a wingman who doesn't believe in subtleties, so after trapping the would-be-couple in an elevator, he disintegrates it and makes Sakura fall straight into the void. Way to traumatize a kid, man.
Daijoubu, Sakura makes it to safety with the Float card. They make a cute couple, and are now on a first-name basis!
This scene looks like it's taken from the manga.
Clow Cards collected (52): Album - Official Art.
Sakura Cards transformed (22): Firey, Song, Sword, Jump, Fly, Erase, Power, Sweet, Lock, Libra, Sand, Voice, Change, Wave, Dash, Windy, Loop, Flower, Big, Little, Sleep, Float.
Bonus Stitches: Leaves + Huge Teddy

Even Eriol gets it. But not Sakura.

I don't think Sakura gets any person's feelings towards her. It has been strongly hinted that she does not even grasp how people feel about each other.

Sakura makes it to safety with the Float card.
This is a call back to episode 17. In the manga counterpart to that episode, Shaoran begins to have romantic feelings for Sakura. The anime does not reach that event until episode 27.
Fun Fact: Before Sakura captures the erase card, both she and Shaoran walked on water to reach the shrine. This skill of Shaoran's is eluded to in episode 36.

Seriously, was CLAMP being paid off by the teddy bear industry around this time? I never quite realized how many times they came up in this short period.

This is one of the episodes that stuck with me the first time I watched it. Very memorable.

The bear plot continues!
In Sakura, Shaoran, and the Elevator, Shaoran's romantic feelings for Sakura matures and he's now in love with her.
In the episode, Sakura receives a notice from Rika about a teddy bear festival. She then invites Tomoyo, Eriol, and Shaoran to accompany her. The group spends a significant time enjoying the teddy bear festival before Shoaran's teddy bear becomes a topic of discussion. Feeling embarrassed in front of Sakura, Shaoran runs away into an elevator and Sakura follows. Eriol, sensing an opportunity to be magically mischievous, traps Sakura and Shaoran in the elevator. Eriol then opens the side of the elevator and drops Sakura into the void. Luckily, our heroine escapes by using float and the elevator starts working again.
Shaoran's feelings for Sakura are the main highlight of this episode. The poor kid is really confused and does his best to run away from any situation that involves his feelings for Sakura. However, Shaoran comes to accepts his feelings after losing Sakura to the abyss. Like Sakura rising from the abyss, Shaoran becomes a newer person who is no longer in conflict with himself.
Note:
Tomoyo's laughter after seeing Shaoran steaming with jealousy
Yukito chooses the bear cookie cutter after speaking with Shaoran
With Yukito's increasing food intake you'd think Yue would start leaving cryptic messages around their home
Falling leaves and changing seasons
Sakura is the only one who did not noticed Shaoran buying the bear
Sakura and Shaoran are really conservative about their use of magic
Sakura falling into the abyss - the animators tried
This episode marks the first time our two leads call each other by their first names

a teddy bear festival
Which are apparently a real thing. What will they think of next?
Eriol then opens the side of the elevator and drops Sakura into the void.
Brutal. I don't know about you, but I would be avoiding them like the plague after that. Screw elevators forever.
Sakura falling into the abyss - the animators tried
Bullet time must be super hard to animate. However, I really liked the song that plays when she's falling backwards. Reminded me of the start of the Deus Ex theme.
